how has the headliner held up? i did this exact process twice and after a week in the summer the glue let go....re did with fiberglass sheet and resin over old foam and headlinerboard (the whole thing) then used the glue on the fresh fiberglass after cured, and put fabric down....much stonger hold.
not sure of ur location, but for me the headliner adhesive was $50 a can and i went through almost 3 cans (5 if i count the screw up), and the fiberglass and resin was just shy of $100

It's been holding up for me in the desert heat just have to make sure to remove all the old crumbly foam.
3M super 77 is the best off the shelf spray you just have to spray light so it doesn't soak into the fabric.
$50 a can??? that hurts buddy, I'm glad the fiberglass worked better for you.it will definitely outlast mine

@@rocksnrally5530 awesome to hear! I couldnt believe my eyes when i saw the fresh headlinerfabric hanging. Who knows, maybe it was old stock...i must have went over the fiber board 5 times to make sure all thenold foam was off, wax and grease remover too...let that evaporate for 24hrs, first one i figured it was a fluke but after the 2nd i was like wtf lol. Anwyays glad to hear its holding up, take care 🍻

just something from the fabric store but in the future I'll end up getting some padded fabric to hide imperfections

Is that a freakin bed sheet? Actual headliner material has a thin foam backing that will hide small imperfections, help it lay on more smoothly, and not soak through with glue. More importantly, It will look like new after only having to do the job once, and not like you have a wrinkly bed sheet glued to your roof. I literally paid only $23 for enough of the correct stuff to redo mine. Bro I hate to say it, but this is the kind of work you hide and don't show others.

Not a bed sheet but just some good looking fabric from the store. I'll end up redoing the headliner in the future but I wasn't looking to spend much until I was confident that the board wouldn't just break apart. Thank you for the comment and advice on a better material.
