- I handed over the keys to my MK8 Golf R to a professional race car driver to see what he thinks of the car, get some speed up, and find out his top 3 tips of going fast, and enjoying track days.
Michelin transported our MK8 Golf R and GR Yaris to 'The Bend' in Adelaide so we could try out the all new motorsport park. In this video, racing driver Jason takes us for a couple of laps in the Golf R to show us around the circuit.

One of my old bosses worked for Michelin, and has a Michelin Man Tattoo.

I worked for Michelin for 15 years and I'm glad I never got a Michelin tattoo LOL Also, they have some of the best tires I've ever used. FYI, Bugatti worked with Michelin to make tires for the Chiron. The tires had to be specially engineered to survive the speed, friction and G forces that they experienced. No other tire maker comes close.
@1one3 Racing , I work for the bend motorsport park and I wasn't paid a cent by Michelin, it was a privilege past to me to spend the day with the MCM crew and have some fun... best day !!!
My top tip for a first track day. Make sure your car is prepared and ready for the track. Tires, brakes, fluids, empty the car, make sure everything is tight. You don't want to pay the money, make the trip, and end your day in the warm up session. I've seen it happen far too often.

Not at all interested in new golf r type stuff. Very capable, but an appliance not a car. However, that was an awesome video just to see this guy drive. So calm, and driving waaaaay faster than most folk at 10/10ths.

VW's MQB platform (MK7 and MK8) are arguably some of the best feeling and handling cars on the street and circuit that has been developed as commuter cars in a very long time in my opinion.

The R mode CAN be turned off using the R button. You need to press it lightly to filter through to other modes. It has haptic feedback.

what tyres are you on?
Don't think its possible to look more like a Dad. Oh and my take on "best rubber" is the one you can have most smiles per miles on for price. For me thats the cheapest rubber i can get, no tears over ripping the tread off them, can have a total laugh at not much expense.
