[UTAU] It DOES matter which resampler you use!

- A trained ear can hear the differences.
Resampler: Makes "airy" UTAU's sound robotic.
Fresamp: Makes UTAU's sound softer (or like a 5 year old baby). Sounds better at high notes.
TIPS: Soft, or like a monster. It's either one. Sounds better at lower notes.
w4u: Emphasizes all background noises. When you have none, it sound like heaven, but with Eri it sounds as if she's on the seaside... -_-' Only sounds good around C3/C4.
M4: Grand. It sounds very good with CV UTAU's, I don't notice any difference with VCV. Only basic flags work. Can go to all heights. Makes consonants sound muffled when using the wrong flags or none.
Resampler13: An upgraded version of the first one. Sounds smoother and a little bit less metallic.

Download all resamplers here. Extract the files and place them in your UTAU folder. If it says that a file already excists, overwrite it. The version of TIPS included in this batch is modified so that it reacts better to flags. However, that doesn't mean it USES flags. Read the readme.txt for more information.

MIND YOU, this was tested with several UTAUloids, but it might still be different for your UTAUloid. So it's best to just test out the effect each resampler has on you UTAUloid x3

My favorite is bkh01. It makes the vocals sound stronger, clearer, and realistic, but it might crack make some high notes metallic-like.

The results are different with different voicebanks, but yeah, they do different things~
@LetsxUtauxIt There's also difference in sound quality with higher notes... For example, TIPS is better with lower notes and fresamp is better with higher x3 But it really varies on the UTAUloid that you're using x3

@LetsxUtauxIt Oooof, I don't know o--O' Fresamp is relatively easy to find, but for TIPS and w4u you need to search really hard... Plus, w4u only works when you install Windows 32 bits... Which sucks
@gabysuryadi I will not hand out M4, it is being redistributed in a closed community.
@TwilightTulip Lol, I know that it can get confusing, but it's very simple! w4u needs a Windows 32 bits system to work on. So most of the files are 32 bits system files. The file that you should select when you're in UTAU is called w4u. It's really easy! ;)

@whatevsclev Yura modified and renamed the resamples. All of these resamplers will work with her UST's, as long as you set them as the default in project properties. ^^
@plantmageskelly That's not really possible, you know ^^; A resampler is a programm that deforms the .wav files and re-forms them using set parameters, thus creating these "notes". And these set parameters vary for each of the resamplers, because of the way they are build. Just download them, and look at the different screens when using the .exe version. You'll see how different they are and why they can't be combined XD

@TheUTAUmania Well, that could be:
1. Your using flags on those notes. TIPS does not work with flags.
2. The way you recorded these samples is different from the way you recorded the others.
And with that, I mean, you used a higher pitched voice, or there is background noise, or there is too much breath in the sample. Or just wrong oto.ini settings.
If you could send me a link with a song rendered in TIPS (vocal only), then I can look into it for you. :)

@TedoSama fresamp does sound good for higher male notes P: you just have to use F1 flag to get rid of the nasally singing that you might get ~

@TheLittleCyberDog For what I know, the only (good) compatible and RELEASED resamplers available for UTAU are the ones I mentioned in the video. New resamplers will be released together with UTAU 2.9 when it's out.

It kinda does... a resampler generates different .frq files which are generated by UTAU when it renders the song.

@xXiiRichieXx Did you select any notes? Did you install the resamplers correctly (into the right folder)? Did you select the right resampler? Do the notes have flags? Sometimes resamplers don't work with flags.
Could be a lot of things.
oh my god....fresamp fucked up my UTAU but it made my boyfriend's sound immaculate!
You should've used another UTAU...this UTAU hardly made changes, lol though i heard it. Other UTAUs make BIG CHANGES in sound.
@desumiki Did you try different UTAU's? It could be that your UTAU has to much noise in its samples. Or it's because of the UST. Maybe wrong flags? Or the notes are too low? TIPS is mainly for high notes. I can't really tell you what the problem is here, unless I see/hear it myself.
I really want another resampler, cause... the normal resampler is... hm... (I think you all know what I mean haha). So I downloaded a resampler, just a random one to test it. But I dont know how to use it??? Nobody explained that... Or am I just silly as fuck? :D Could someone tell me how to use other resamplers? That'd be nice :)
If somebody has already answered this question for you, kms. So, anyway, the resampler doesn't have any features that you can select by clicking a button or something like that. A resampler, in this case, I'll just use TIPS as an example. So, TIPS isn't affected by flags and certain pitches. If you attempt to use certain flags, they won't work using TIPS. If this isn't what you mean, in order to download a different resampler, download the resampler of your choice, then move the .exe file into the UTAU file (For Windows: Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > UTAU)

Hey, I have a question about TIPS, if you don't mind :)
I've been trying to use it for songs on my UTAU for a while now, but for some reasons some of the sounds will sound good/normal, and others will turn into, well...I'm not even sure what to call it, it almost sounds like nails on a chalkboard. Do you know why that might be happening to only some sounds?

Fresamp is not so good. if you want to let sing males high notes they will sound like animal crossing characters XDD
best would be w4u or M4...
