【UTAU Tutorial】How to EASILY record and oto VCV voicebanks using Oremo and SetParam

Soooo this is my /attempt/ at making a tutorial. Sorry if it's a little hard to follow, I'm just ... really bad at explaining things. And awkward hh. Anyways, cheese asked me to explain how I record and oto VCV voicebanks using Oremo's GuideBGM and SetParam's oto generator, and I decided to explain it to him in the form of a video. (Also, the reason it looks like it jumps around sometimes is because this video is actually a few smaller videos cut together hhh).

quick note for anyone using this tutorial in 2018 onward: using the _ before samples can cause UTAU to not be able to read the sound. this usually occurs in the latest version. otherwise, this is a great tutorial!
wait a minute so does this mean that i shouldn't use the _?
@@sinnamonrollz8671 it depends on your operating system and oremo/setparam version. Updates to the software have been released after this that don't seem to have the issue, but the issue appears to be present on the software if you try and run it in Windows 11. I would give it a go, and if it works you're fine but if it doesn't work you'll have to remove it.

RyouichiNakano there's a way to adjust the microphone volume input from both the control panel and from oremo's internal settings.

Finally a tutorial that’s faster and doesn’t sound like it wasn’t scripted (as in taking forever to get to the point to understand the hows and why’s and moving on, therefore adding more filler and making the video too long)
i am many years too late, and kind of wanna try doing utau again .... but bro, this is a lifesaver. every time vcv used to scare me off bc i thought it would be so time consuming. but this seems like a great time saver. o_O

just gonna say that this is a nice tutorial and helped a lot
also for people who are using newer versions of UTAU and SetParam, the names of the buttons and options are called different things from the tutorial, but they are there, i found em :)

it's probably the "classic" theme on windows 7. there's audacity and utau on it, so it cant be actual windows 95-98 xd

I've tried Oremo...and I've got a HUGE problem, which basically makes it so it's slower to use Oremo :
When I record, for some reason, there's much more static than in Audacity. So much that I would need to go in Audacity and remove the static afterwards, which makes recording in Oremo useless, since it degrades the sound. The recordings also sound extremely compressed, which it shouldn't be, considering it's .wav, no?
Even when I reduce my volume and make it so the static isn't as bad, the recordings sound muffled, and it's not my mic's fault, since it doesn't sound as bad in Audacity.
Do you know what I'm doing wrong? If yes, is there a solution to this? I really Oremo to work, recording a VB on Audacity is nearly impossible, or it would take me a few months...

I want to ask you that how can I continue adding samples in the oto.ini ? cause every time I push read or open, the old previous sample lost all the number thingy (parameters?) and i have to do it again all of them inlcude the old ones and the new one. Can you help me ?

Everything was going fine but when i went to try and begin to oto it (after entering the tempo length and start position yadda yadda) it immediately crashes :’)

Does it also record the WAV or do you have to record that in another program? (Such as Audacity, let's say.)

just wanna say that when i tried downoading that Oremo and Param thingy i just ended up with downloading a copy of the PPDEditor, i think something went wrong..
hey, i have an issue. When I try to set my I/O audio recordings, it won't enable playing or recording. it says 'cannot execute oremo player' or something like that. what can I do to fix that?
Hi there. I downloaded your OREMO patches and whatnot, but I don't see the different pitch labels when opening up the menu to record the phenome. Please help!

I have an issue, I need some help. I don't use OREMO to record, and when I'm otoing, the params. don't appear on my .txt file and the .frq files neither. What can I do? Sorry for my bad english, btw
Don't know why, but even though the sound records well and the oto seems fine too, nothing shows up when I try it out in UTAU. Well, it does show, but no sound comes out. Anyone has an idea what am I doing wrong?

there are lots of reasons as to why utau doesnt produce sound. utausupertutorials.blogspot.com/2011/09/faq-1-how-come-no-sound-comes-out.html this page goes over them pretty well.
Some of the main reasons I've come across mainly being
- the lyric style of the ust and the oto style aren't compatible / the same
- the resampler you're using isn't compatible with your voicebank
- you haven't changed your system's locale, which can occasionally bug out UTAU and can make files encoded with japanese characters unreadable
- or the file names for some part of whatever your trying to work with (either the ust, the voicebank files, or utau itself) are corrupt (which can also be attributed to system locale)

I fixed mine by rerecording my samples. It turns out that my frequency map messed up so the result was the sample sounding cracked and demonic. Something like frequency. Try rerecording your sample.

there are a few reclists floating around the web, and i know a few overseas forums/fansites have reclist lists, but the reclists i used in this video come w/ oremo. the typelists are also linked in the description.

when i oto the the - ka , - ge , - de ect any ones like that when i use those notes there really out of time and i don't here them because there so far away from the start how to i oto them becuase if i do the way your doing for them there really long and aren't there when i play them in utau
Hachirou and Satou UTAUloids you probably need to fit the .ust to the voicebank then.

Oh never mind I just realised that's what the up and down arrow keys are for haha //D
not sure if youll see this but???? every time i generate parameter it erases all my aliases and replaces them with random a's, e's, _'s and other stuff?? i dont know how to avoid this ;;
UTAUloidSatoko is your system locale set to japanese? if not, try setting it to that. i believe on windows 8 its control panel > clock language region > change location > administrative !

how do you get your hiragana to show on oremo?
when i add the reclist (the reclist i add is hiragana) it is not hiragana or it doesn't like hiragana

Change the AppLocale to Japanese.
(Not sure if this is the reason though, try reinstalling it and stuff. Search up tutorials on it, I'm not a pro.
(Also im sorry for being really late, you've probably fixed it...))

Well, when I made that comment vccv wasn't out yet you know xD Now I've learnt a bit more about UTAU (still prefer Vocaloid though), but thank you anyway for your advice ^_^
Me too, I feel like vocaloid has a better phonetic imput system/interface compared utau vccv but it's interesting to see utau be pushed to new limits. Also cz tutorial are really impressive and makes English utau usable and understandable. I'm excited to see where it goes.
