I had a similar problem with the temp and fuel gauge intermittently working on a 1993 Eurovan. (275,000kms) After some troubleshooting I found the problem was with the headlight switch. I replaced it and resolved the issue. Just another idea to try. It’s simple and inexpensive.
ive got a t4 with fuel gauge working perfectly but no temp gauge , have replaced all sensors and done the 6 solder joint repair but still no temp gauge , any ideas ?

Shame this video has no commentary as without explanation of what you're doing, it's very hard to follow...
the legs of the transistor in the video must be tinned.
