Hello, I also have a T4 1.9 TD Multivan ABL engine to which I have been intending to make this modification for some time, but I am not a mechanic and I have not found clear answers. At the moment at 100 km/h I have 3000 rpm which is not bad in my opinion and I don't necessarily want the speed but if at 100 km/h I will have around 2500 rpm I think the engine would be a bit more relaxed, theoretically speaking, but does the engine handle at this rpm/speed? I don't know what effects it will have on the box and the engine on long term. I see that you have done this for some time, if you come back here and see this, can you tell from the experience you have with the car after the modification if this change is safe for the gearbox and engine? I had a similar problem with the temp and fuel gauge intermittently working on a 1993 Eurovan. (275,000kms) After some troubleshooting I found the problem was with the headlight switch. I replaced it and resolved the issue. Just another idea to try. It’s simple and inexpensive.
