It’s two kits in one. The one he used in this video is the main set, and the other side is a smaller kit for more straight forward stuff. Not necessary for this video, but he is know for his big “double monster” set in DT so he did this for his big return.
This is the pinnacle for me. DT is one of my top 2 or 3 favorites of all time. I think this song is everything that’s great about this band. They’ve been doing this for 40 years, and I can’t wait for the album to drop in February. Glad they all worked everything out and they’re back to making music together again. Just wasn’t the same without MP. Thanks for doing this guys - you’re appreciated.
Glad Portnoy is back. He was the heart behind DT. Excited for the new album. However this song does sound like a lot of other Dream Theater songs. The ending always sounds like it should immediately kick into A nightmare to remember. Which isn't a bad thing, I guess.
Great reaction and tune! The new track cooks and showcases the whole band great. Glad Portnoy was able to rejoin. I especially liked the guitar outro and the drums at the end. Yep, prog rock/metal is definitely my favorite genre now. Here's a Canadian Rock band (which sounds prog to me) for Dave to check, Saga and their track, "Don't Be Late" ua-cam.com/video/rh7nlCtu-3E/v-deo.html
I love music, I live it, breathe it and get absorbed in it, like most folks. But this style just doesn't resonate. No melody = no magic. Appreciate the muso's though, at least they're doing their thing! Cheers peeps. ✌️😎
Classic Dream Theater. And boy do I love classic Dream Theater.

I miss Kevin Moore. Let’s leave it at that.
