They drank alot on this tour so the crowd banter is all just drunk rambling and ranting, the song was from their second album 'Freakshow' released in 1997. Daniel's talk with the crowd was just random and is not part of the song, nor the funky jam part in the middle. That's why I chose this version! Thanks again for doing this, plenty more silverchair to come 😂
Woo! Recently got myself into Silverchair, so cool to see Dave reacting 🙌🏻 Emotion Sickness is awesome, especially the Faraway Stables live version. Kinda gives a Musey / Pink Floyd vibe.
Interesting tune. I’m familiar with the name of the band but not the music. When Dave said it had an earlier 70’s vibe that’s exactly what I was thinking. I enjoyed this. Thanks guys.
Recently the drummer Ben and the bass player wrote a book about their time in silverchair. Daniel John’s did not contribute to the book and there is still a lot of bad blood between him and the other two. Reading the book it shows Daniel did not cope with the rise of all that sudden fame very well. And by 1999 was having all sorts of psychological and physical problems. A rift or divide started between him and the other two. Especially when he announced he was writing songs on his own and excluding Ben the drummer. By the time Diorama came out in the early 2000’s the band was pretty much over. Then they got back together for a benefit concert and Daniel decided to give it one last shot. So they made a great album “Young Modern “ in 2007 and had a big with “Straight lines”. But according to the book the band started to spiral out of control with heavy drinking and partying. Eventually after a horrible gig in Darwin in 2011 Daniel called up Ben and basically said “It’s over”. It’s sad but it looks like Daniel John’s had enough of the stress of being in that band. And wanted a solo career to do electronic music.
I still love spinning Silverchair vinyl.. really love their first 3 albums… for me this live version doesn’t do it that much for me. Saw them perform in 97 on Pinkpop in the Netherlands which had definitely more grunge to it then this preacher stuff 😅 great band not so great performance

He was actually drunk as a skunk during that show
Wow did not expect a Silverchair reaction .. what a throwback
I LOVED Diorama and Young Modern! GREAT production and song craft! So much growth since these early days!

Faraway Stables was in Newcastle, 2003 (couldn’t edit my comment lol)
