While I agree with you, I still believe new and original stories can bring people in theatre, as long as there's enough money, a good director and good writing.
Sure, it CAN happen, I'm not saying that's impossible. It's just way more difficult than making a spin-off of a well-established franchise. It's a risk, and many studios don't like taking risks.
@@mrheadcannon maybe it's just me, but there are also view more problems regarding productions you didn't mentioned. 1Bad/Mid writing qualoty. If shows like She-hulk, Bat-woman, Naomi, Falcon/Winter Soldier. Or movies Like The Marvels ,Flash, Eternals,Batman and Robin, Wonder Woman 1986 etc showed us anything .Is that regardless if you're well known or not, if the writing isn't there, you won't last too long. (Heck, for as much as people love Ironman now, most still LOATHE Ironman 3) And my second problem "New Heroes....but no new Villains". Like think about it, what's the Joker/Green Goblin of Gwenpool or new Ms. Marvel? Heck, even when the best I can say about Karol's Ms Marvel is: Ex Military Pilot Has powers from space She's an Avenger Even with just that she still has a purpose, thx to her connection to Mar-Vel, she is connected to the Kree and Skrull Empires. Threats that Avengers dealted with more than once. Or in other words, even if they don't have a well known Rouges gallery, at the very least they are connected to big time bad guys (Ex Like Gamora and Thanos), making them more relefent. Something with acception to Miles, you can't REALLY say about any other character you mentioned.
You say enough money but what is enough? That is a bit of a catch 22, how much money is needed to make a movie good and at what point does it become too much? Because in the end the more money that is put into the project the more it needs to make to turn a profit. You actually have a better chance of making a successful movie franchise with less money than you do with more.
in Japan the creators of the manga series have to give permission to the anime studio if they want to animated the series or if someone wants to use the IP but wants to create different characters that take place in the same series they need permission from the creator like the spin off of my hero academia and high school dxd are done by a different creator but they needed permission from the creator of the original series

It is not so good like you are saying. If they refuse an adaptation or something it is very likelly that they won't be getting a new one later. That is why we get many and many bad anime adaptation.
@@hungothanh4913 did you mean 'or'? but yeah. its always question worth considering. I bet most creator on marvel and dc do it for money and recognition, to be able to do what they wanted someday.
One problem is that people think they will never compete with the originals, and I think indie works need to know fully well to never submit and sell out
TBH Marvel and DC doesn't have to worry about creating new characters/stories to adapt for live-action or animation for decades as they have barely scratched the surface of the IP they own, now went it comes to the comics the reason new characters fail is they don't try and create them organically prime example being characters like Kamala Khan, Gwenpool and Spider-Gwen as they were all created to basically exist as an image rather than something to serve the story unlike popular characters like Wolverine and Venom who originally served the purpose to be a foe to The Hulk and Spider-Man respectively. Also a character like Punchline, only time will tell just how fair she will play out.
You really dont understand how close a bunch of characters are too being made public domiain. In a few short years. YOU! can make anything Batman you want and sell it. Warner and DC wont be able to say boo. Enjoy.
there stuck in a limbo of people complaining about no new characters then when they make new characters people complain about the old ones not getting any attention
Mostly true, but something that people usually forget is, the characters was popular at the time they were created first. When did most of the characters get adapted to animation or to movie serials, shortly after they became popular in comics. Superman 1938, radio 📻 play 1939 Batman 1939, movie serial 1943 Spider-man 1962, cartoon 1967 TMNT 1984, cartoon 1987 etc
The way to go is to have the new character piggyback off an established character in the mainline comics, if well written the new will gain enough popularity to eventually stand on their own
@user-en4yx6eb8p Eve warloc, samurai venom, scarlet scarab, jackpot, webweaver, escapade, vornac, szen, mother righteous, and plenty more were made in the last 2 years
Wasn't it back in the day when you wanted to introduce a new character into your mythos, you would introduce them in a comic line people were already reading. You made them interesting enough to where people wanted to see more from them, and that's when you fully fleshed them out.
New idea i had as a kid: A world known detective known as Detective Nomad Shimano. He was born with strange powers, with unknown origin. His father was dead before he was born and his mother past away at his birth. Adopted by a religious family, nomad made it a mission for himself to find out who his family was. He accepted his adoptive family, but he was admired by his power so much he knew he couldn't have got it from them. So he made it his destiny to learn how to be an amateur detective. His skills were noticed one day though as a murder case took place and he found out who it was the day of, even though the murder took place 20 years ago. So after years of hard work and more training, he became the first super powered, world renounced detective. To be continued...as he'll finally find out the truth.
This is your character, but if I was also developing Detective Nomad Shimano, I would specify his powers involve a superhuman memory enlightening his mind to superhuman levels of intelligence. Where unlike Taskmaster, for example, he can absorb/access everyone else's memories on Earth. Any creature with a brain and memories is a library of knowledge open to his mind. At the cost of forming his own memories. He can remember his life, except this is possible by indirectly remembering that life from someone else's perspective, such as from his adopted family's POV. Meaning, Nomad can only remember memories he didn't directly experience himself. His detective skills and training relate to discovering, memorizing, analyzing, and saving details through other means, besides using his brain, so that he may keep and recollect his private memories. Partiality becoming a detective out of necessity to remember his days on Earth. That's the weakness I would give him. Unlimited, cosmic telepresent awareness at the cost of losing private, personal memories he experienced alone (or with two people whose "consciousnesses were deactivated"). The mystery of his parents is his ultimate challenge since both of them are dead and he cannot access their memories nor does he know their identity. Leaving him clueless, despite possessing the power to access the memories of anyone alive who knew them. He could remember their relative's memories however he did not learn the identities of his parents, leaving him unable to recognize the identities of his relatives in a sea of memories. Wherever they are on Earth. A hero blessed, or cursed, with the ability to remember everyone else's history except for his own. I guess I'm running with the idea that he's a nomad on Earth's mindscape. How his mother died is connected somehow to Nomad's powers. Since she was the first person he was using his powers on. In a sense, experiencing life out of the womb, while still physically bound in the womb, through her perspective. I fear I could start developing how crucial a component his adopted family's religion is, conceptualize a few of his rogues, and imagine his supporting characters, so I'm stopping now because It's not my place to start worldbuilding onto your character you created as kid. Great idea by the way. He's all yours.
@@knightofkorbin888 oh I have his skillsets already figured out. He can sense dead spirits, which is the secret to his detective skills. He also does have super abilities. He has a green aura, aith the ability to use his energy to turn it into a powerful pistol that shoots like a 50 cal. He is VERY op if I actually wrote a story about him. I wish more fans would look at this way. Because people just expect characters like miles or the other like him to be great by default. When sadly the brand I what got them notes. It's also worse because original character who have been around as long not if more then spiderman and other popular characters keep getting side line.
The Creator was pretty good, but it has so many inconsistent questions and problems. The orbital weapons system was also very dumb with it being missiles that need to be right over the target. Seemed like a very impractical weapons system. It would make more sense if it was a laser, or it used "rods from God" or a rail gun.
I would hardly call Kamela Khan or Miles Morales "good" knockoffs. And Miles barely has an original story because either way he gets bitten by a radio active spider, his uncle dies, and has a relationship with Qwen Stacy.
@@jankoleon3785 Context is way different Uncle Aaron dies due his actions being the Prowler and comes back to life and helping Miles It's Gwen and not Qwen That only happened in the movies not in the mainline continuity in the comics Miles dating Starling and in the games he's dating Hailey Being bitten is pretty much every Spider person origin like Hobie, Gwen, Flash, Peni and etc.
This is a conversation I’ve been waiting to be had. When you really think about, we haven’t had an era of new superheroes who weren’t legacy characters since the silver age of comics. Most of the heroes we have nowadays are just branched off from other heroes. Though I will say, Image has been doing a pretty bang up job with introducing new IP. Their newest hit series Radiant Black has been an absolute blast with originality and changes of status quo, and has even jumpstarted a brand new superhero universe called the Massive-Verse featuring entire creator owned superheroes such as Inferno Girl Red and Rogue Son!
fuck remember when they debuted "New Warriors" reboot with names and characters like "Safespace" "Snowflake" and how one kid gets his powers from his Uncle's "Internet Gas" fuck daniel kibbelsmith and luciano vecchio
The reason marvel and dc doesn’t write any new characters is because they can but you got these new writers in marvel and dc that can’t write a good story or sell a comic to save their lives
Tbh i think the main reason is because these names, actors, characters get butts in seats. Look at the new mutants, decent mobie but it flopped because their was nobody people recognsied. Most people know who ironman is, black panther, dr strange all before they got movies. Plus the fact that they adapt old characters is because those characters are good for adapting. Plus both companys have tons and tons of characters from their almost 100 year long business.
I'd argue that this is debatably a good thing. If they did add new superheroes, there would be a huge oversaturation of them at this point and the older ones like Batman, Superman and possibly even Spiderman would have faded into obscurity by now.
Who would've inspired the new heroes tho? Even if the literal characters themselves wouldn't be around anymore the ideas, the things that made people care about them, those would carry over to the characters they inspire. Before we had Batman we had The Shadow and one day a new character will come along.
@@shroomer8294 Inspiration comes from everywhere though, often it's folklore, legends, history, dreams, current events. It wasn't just the shadow that we got Batman, it was also from Zoro, the Lone Ranger and Da Vinci's wing pack.
It’s not that new superheroes are not created. The ones they do create they don’t do a very good job at the story telling. People care about stuff that makes them feel things.
I guess we need to give James Cameron credit because highest grossing movie of all time which is Avatar a ORIGINAL MOVIE while the 9 films in top 10 highest grossing film are either sequels, comic book adaption, and franchises.
Idk what you're talking about, Gwenpool is awesome and way more relevant than the other two even if she is a combined character. If Marvel added Gwenpool to the MCU And made a Gwenpool movie, tons of people would see it and, assuming its as good as the Deadpool movies, shed easily become more popular.
Simple there’s already a lot of heroes and a lot of great ones to begin with in both of them and most of them mainly in Dc I should say get underutilized to the most outside of comics and even then
It's honestly one of the reasons I enjoy Japanese tokusatsu superhero shows so much, especially lately. They may be continuations of franchises from the 70's, but they introduce tons and tons of new characters every year and the popular ones return and are expanded on in additional media. There's very rarely any continuity between installments, and they often play with conventions and tropes, especially these days.
Also the part where neither Marvel or DC will publish works with characters they can't control! For example Heroes from the Public Domain which Image Comics and Dynamite Entertainment have both used to great effect and profits!.
Buddy, we are getting new superheroes in the Superman movie that we have never seen in live action. This is a different Superman story. James Gunn's Superman is going to stand out.
wow, I hate the modern entertainment industry. trying to replicate and imitate the same successes they had before and do remakes and get money from franchises. Don't take risks and create something new. This is why you will never see a movie franchise part one, of the Outsiders [batman and the outsiders ] or a stand alone movie of Raven of Teen Titans. This is why you will never see a Dazzler movie or Nova [even though promised]. This is why we haven't seen DC's Question or the xmen Gambit or Rogue.
Wow, it is sad how DC and Marvel treat the creative talent. I am shocked that they let the creators jump ship to Image. Do they think talent grows on trees?
The problem was that that particular version of Batman was something he created; and as a creative it just doesn't sit well with you when your work is desecrated without your permission. That's the issue with how rights is handled nowadays.
@@spinyslasher6586 I don't think it's possible to handle rights in such a way that Tim Burton can create a derivative work based on characters someone else created yet can also stop other people from using that work as a basis of their own derivative works.
@sssilver_wing Well I give marvel points for trying the problem is that she only appears in that what if. She has no appearances in comics or games to elevate her. If she doesn't go beyond, the what if series then she's just a wasted opportunity
@@eduardopantoja9115Well Kahori literally just appeared in what if season 2 basically at the end of last year, as shes brand spankin new, so of course she hasnt transfered to other entertainment media yet like games, comics and movies etc yet, but she will in about 5-6 years.
I honestly don't mind the expensive rip off model, but that's probably because I'm a tokusatsu fan. With IPs like Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Kamen Rider and Ultraman. Where they make new characters that share the DNA of their predecessors but do completely different with their stories and designs to keep their IPs fresh and not completely recycled. Also they're their to sell toys so that's another big reason. Can't exactly sell the same character design for multiple years without some changes. They gotta re-invent themselves to refresh the toy isle. Also helps that the toys are fun as hell.
I mean, clearly most people dont mind the "rip off model". I think that the uploader raises a good point but all in all most people dont really care if the characters they're watching in movies are "recycled" or not. As he said, the highest grossing movies of last year were pretty much all adaptations. Especially with the superhero genre Marvel and DC have a monopoly over it. Anything not Marvel and DC like Invincible or The Boys usually has heavy inspiration, if not entire clone characters of ones from the former two companies.
There are new superheroes here and there, like Marvel's Gravity, which would make a great movie. And btw Moore did work for DC again, when he was working for windstorm which got sold to DC he kept working there for a while, though he was unhappy about it. Moore and Gibbons were invited to work on adaptationz, but Moore refused. Gibbons actually made a poster for the movie though
New comic book characters are made all the time, only some are break out hits. Recently during the 2010's Marvel was trying to replace every single one of their main traditional heroes with some minority or diverse representation. Iron Man was replaced with a black girl. Spiderman replaced with a black kid. Captain America replaced with a black man. Wolverine replaced by a girl, etc etc. Everybody hated it.
Because the creative people ideas doesn't align with today's expectations at those places... that's why indie games (and indie everything) are getting bigger.
But why we always get knockoff stuff and not book adaptation in Star Wars? They don't recycle anything! The Acolyte is worse because everything is new there and didn't adapt time-proven stories.
Well, they do recycle SOME stuff. Cortosis was introduced in the old canon and they used it in The Acolyte, but I get what you mean. I guess Disney wanted to tell new stories to sell THEIR stuff (new comics, new books, new toys, etc), but tt would've been easier and safer to adapt stories from the old canon that people already liked, that's for sure.
@@mrheadcannon it's always a concept and when they do recycle a character like Thrawn and Plagueis they kinda fumble hard in even being close to comic accuracy
@@Hello-bi1pmBecause Disney is actively trying to erase most of the Lucasfilm Star Wars canon. They want Star Wars to fit their brand, their image, and most pre-Disney Star Wars works doesn't fit in it. They essentially want tighter control over the canon.
If I can say something about the second point... it's pretty stupid that some of the new MCU heroes were hated for "not being so much connected with the old ones". Some people really don't like originality even in bigger franchises.
idk but black panther felt pretty new to me, same goes for shang chi, moon knight, eternals, and even dr strange and ant man(and the upcoming thunderbolts). obviously they are out of comics, but still the were new in live action i guess, im not sure if they have been in televios before, but im pretty sure the majority of the people havnt knwon them before and they still got lots of people into cinema. also the boys is new in telivision i guess and has lots of fans soo i do think they introduce new characters from time to time but obviously a character which has already a big brand gets more people to watch the movie
Just because a character isn't brand spanking new (created in the past two years or so) doesn't mean they aren't "new" as conpared to the others with 40+ years of hidtory. If you feel like discounting legacy characters who carry a mantle like Jaime Reyes, Miles Morales, or Sam Alexander, then that still leavs tons of characters. Squirrel Girl, Ms Marvel, Red Hood (yes, as weird as it may sound, he's actually still pretty new in the grand scheme of things), Negasonic Teenage Warhead, The Runaways, Speedball, and so many more
there is a writing new characters is tough when there is a back log but even "new" characters have issues of not adding anything. a character being unique is why people have favroute earth human green lanterns.
it's not like people don't care about new superheroes. They just don't do something that's cool and go viral. The other characters you mentioned, they get exposure because of their origin character names. New characters need manual exposure which is expensive.
I don't think Marvel or Dc needs new super heroes Have you seen their hero index there are so many that they even forget about them Like many Mutants, 1 time used charcters and more And you forgot Sideways Dc version of Spiderman (even if I don't share this opinion but the internet named him so) I think Justice League Unlimited was so good because it introduced all the smaller heroes you never heard of and fall in love with them like Question, Vigilanti and the golden Knight, Wannabeast, Hawk and Dove and many more Think we need Jlu 2 for the newer hero or something simular with marvel like comebining all heroes into one show And I personally want more heroes outside of America like in europa who are good written or feel fresh with own interesting stories not connected to stories of the America part
That’s the thing, most people love to stay in their comfort zone, paying money to see some characters you know or love guarantees a certain level of satisfaction and enjoyment, compare that with to see a character you are not attached to, there’s no comparison needed to be explained here. But that’s just how people’s interest in characters work, you can’t always just push out a new character a hope that he/she get the popularity it deserves right away, new characters and new stories oftentimes serves as a new entry ticket to those who’s fresh in the genre, I know miles morales isn’t really a good example but nowadays more and more kids may think of miles when talking about spider-man instead of Peter, new kids may relate to new movie characters just like how we used to go to movie theaters for new original stories like Madagascar or Bolt, new stories attracts new viewers, and frankly speaking, for a franchise to do good, not only do they have to respect the old fans who supported them until today, they also need a make a room for new comers, I don’t like new characters, that doesn’t mean new viewers won’t, that’s just my opinion
If it's not broken don't fix it , I don't think we need more superheros when we have variants that can be used to tell different stories like how we gonna get a Spider-Man Noir show , great video btw
We got dr fate hawkman and atom in black adam.we got peacemaker and vigilante in peacemaker series we are gonna get green lantern that had no good live action and not only hal but we are possibly getting three with guy gardner confirmed.
4:48 The actors actually do have some say in what happens to the character, to some degree. If Micheal Keaton did like what his Batman was doing in The Flash he didn’t have to appear in that movie. Just like when Jodi Foster didn’t return for Hannibal the sequel to The Silence of the Lambs, while Julianna Moore took over the role it wasn’t nearly as good as when Jodi Foster played the character. And in the case of The Flash it would have been very likely that had Micheal Keaton not returned they would have found another Batman to be in the movie or used a different character all together. So while a writer (for a movie or comic) and director has no say in that they character's that they create will do in a movie that they aren’t involved in the actor can have some influence over the project that they are involved in even if it it just an acting choice or as big as not appearing in the sequel or subsequent film.
Its called having a built in fandom that will watch it no matter what. If a alrieady established franchise with a built in fandom fails to be good, the studio will still get something back because theu know that theres a fandom thatveill watch anything batman or anything spiderman compared to but blaster man who is new.
Punchline could become relevant since she's been leaked for Multiversus. But like with Nubia we'll see how that goes. Because she's not a popular household name like other leaked DC characters Aquaman, Raven, Static or Poison Ivy. That game is WB's all stars game they've been trying to push. Who knows what will happen with it.
The secret to creating new characters is you create them in a team group. X-Men is the perfect franchise to create new characters with. For example for the most part Negasonic Teenage Warhead from Deadpool is a new character.
It's funny how the writer says Punchline is not like Harley Quinn... But the thing about Punchline is she'll be forever compared to Harley Quinn because she fills the same role. Even if they have opposite treatments, stories and behaviours, they're still viewed as "Joker's Serial Killer Girlfriend"
Batman wasn’t never meant to last for 100 plus years. Just think about that. At most, 20 years should be the MAX. It takes 20 years for someone to reach adulthood. Their parents would have grown-up with a certain culture. Their children will likely grow-up with a DIFFERENT culture. INVINCIBLE lasted 15 years. Long running comic books should NEVER last MORE than 20 years. Batman would ended in the early 1960s (1939-1959). Spider-Man would have ended in the early 80s (1963-1983).
@ "Batman wasn't never meant to last for 100+ years" I feel like you're right, cause he nearly fissled out in the 60s. The creation of the 60s show brought back new life to Batman, which allowed him to go on another 20 years. Which by the end of that, they started bringing back a version of Batman who's like his original counterpart, but does not kill. This allowed for another 20 years. Now after those 20 years, they remade Batman as some unstoppable force of nature to be reckon with. A Batman who is a god like no other, despite being human. This Batman is Modern Batman. It's the worse rendition of Batman, but I guess whatever takes this keep this man afloat. For Spider-Man's Case, he technically nearly ended in the beginning of the 90s or late 80s, but they brought him back cause of fans being angry. They did changed him up a lot in the 80s, with the Black suit, removing Mary Jane, and introducing BlackCat, etc. Spider-Man, in his 60 years of existence, technically like only a total of 20 years of "good" comics. Every other years is just Fan Hatred and Controversies back-to-back. Although I do not see how this correlates to my original comment, I don't mind engaging into another convo
I want to see gwenpool soooo bad but I just know they’re gonna miscast her just like they did with she hulk… and her and Deadpool have conflict it would be so cool!!! Also punchline is awesome and would be great to see, but she’s definitely not “cooler” than Harley, she’s just more evil.
Yep no dark Knight returns no Wonder woman 3 no Shazam 3 new Batman beyond movie no Black Canary movie no Justice League 2 movie and that means DC will never end up making a green arrow movie and no Catwoman movie no Nightwing movie if I was in church DC would be a lot better than with James Gunn at the helm
I think they should invent new things BUT use elements of other popular stories in their own story so people don't get too lost to a new creation.. it's like a diet lunch.. it's the same food with the same taste but you decrease the amount of it that you consume..you don't feel like this isn't a good food and it's actually helping you to be healthy
I like Gwenpool because she blocks Harley Quin. Harley has, to me, worked best as Joker's sidekick but DC wanted her as their Deadpool. However, Qwen tries to be HQ but she tries to beat Deadpool at the punch. So, Qwen beats HQ at the punch.
Marvel and DC so try and release characters every few years remember the New Warriors fiasco, remember characters DC created like Bunker in the New Teen Titans or Sideways yeah neither do alot of people, part of that is due to 2 things. 1. DC and Marvel wont take many risks anymore as the comic book industry is in shambles and while people watch TV shows and Movies, the lack of advertising and mismanagement has caused comic sales to plummet so it's safer to use older established characters. 2 there aren't as many good writers or stories out there and I know it's broken record but politics and social commentary have helped to ruin that, alot of writers want to soapbox and the community is tired of and the accusations against them when they don't agree that they are bigots/transphobes/misogynists/racist etc. Also on Miles Morales, I wouldn't call him a complete success, only until the games and movies has his character gotten better recognition (partially due to better writing) he had some initial success when he first came out because shock value but comic sales about him haven't been as profitable as predicted, so much so they had to shoehorn him into alot of other series because people just started to drop off. Kamala is sort of in the same boat but she is better written so she made more of an impact. Also I would like to point out when a character is made by more than 1 person you can have even more compounding issues take Peter Parker. Parker was made by Stan Lee AND Steve Ditko not Stan Lee alone (actually several characters Stan Lee created were joint projects with other creators), and the Ditko estate had some leeway on the Spiderman IP and that caused some issues as they tried to reclaim both Spiderman and Dr. Strange and that may have potentially fouled ups some movies and may have helped lead to the creation of Miles Morales because Marvel was having trouble controlling the character of Peter Parker so Miles was an "original spiderman" they could control the rights too without interference. Also I wouldn't call Invincible entirely original since Kirkman made the main character is the son of a Superman analog and most heroes and villains in that series are parodies or copies of characters from both DC and Marvel, it's essentially a variant of the Watchmen idea for the new age minus the Cold War/ Doomsday clock commentary
They didn't give Kamala Khan a new name because they have to use the IP of characters are they lose the rights to it which is what happened to DC Captain Marvel.
The characters that are new, whose fault is it that they don't take off? Is it that people want to see what's familiar or is it the failing of the companies to bring in new audiences? Also are the new characters and stories even good?
i think, it was a problem from the start, just think of it, how many original and maybe popular enough superheroes who were originally women or black dudes, they werent created now, its all going from comics: captain marvel was a man, hulk-shehulk, batman-batgirl-batwoman, spider man-black spider man- female spider man, superman-supergirl, wolverine-girl wolverine x23....and you can continue this list. they did that from the start and money is only reason for that why bother creating new character that can appeal to other nations, other cultures, of course its so much easier to dress a girl, black dude, indian dude and others in spiderman suit and give to all of them the same spider powers
@@mrheadcannonYou brought up Todd Macfarlane as an example of one creator who has rights to his creation and stuff like that. But as much as I am a fan of Todd myself. He's also culprable of treating other creators poorly e.g.Neil Gaiman with Angela and Cogliostro in the Spawn series.
I think it's not so much that people won't watch films that don't use characters that are already famous, it's that the characters that are being adapted are tried and true. For example, virtually no one outside of comic book nerd circles knew who Iron Man was when the movie came out, but it started the whole MCU. How? Because Iron Man is compelling character in the comics and they adapted him faithfully onto the big screen. Related: You ever notice how the further the big screen adaptations stray from the source material, the worse they seem to be? Ex: Batman killing people in Snyder's BvS. Batman's been around for decades, you really think there aren't versions of him that killed people in the comics? But then why do we all remember the no-kill-rule version of the character? Because that's the most compelling version of Batman. It's tried and true.
No new superheros in comics? There are plenty of new super hero characters, yes in Marvel and DC, You probably haven't heard of them due to the massive nostalgia wave that dominated comics from early 2000's to 2019. The X-men had loads of Juniors characters, Many created in the 80's ad 90's, a few more created in the 2000. But there was an anti 90's bias at marvel. In X-men evolution the character Spyke was created because they didn't think Bishop would work as a Teen. despite Sunspot, Synch, Jessie Bedlam being characters in the X-books. The Ultimate X-men took up books for years, I got board after the fist arc because to steal from Team-4-star "I preferred when Ultimate X-men was Gen13 and DV8, I liked throes books better when they were X-force and Generation X. You don't see new characters much because Gen-X writers (The generation not the X-team)spent almost 20 years writing comics as their childhood fan fictions and retconning shit they didn't like. Have you ever heard of the New Warriors? there is a reason for that.
Thats why halo, mass effect, warhammer, starcraft, destiny need to branch out to theatrical or tv series done well(not that garbage halo series by paramount)
NO, the narrator is wrong. I know a lot of fans and convention goers and comic book fans that would LOVE TO SEE new superheroes...if they are written well. Most fans no longer want repeats or sequels. THIS IS WHY HOLLYWOOD is losing money! One of the reasons why people flocked to see Wolverine and Deadpool.....is that they knew there would be cameos of other heroes in the fighting.
The influx of new superhero has stopped suddenly my hero academia has ended and new superhero shows are also really sparce i'm happy that there invincible is going on
While I agree with you, I still believe new and original stories can bring people in theatre, as long as there's enough money, a good director and good writing.
(Heck, for as much as people love Ironman now, most still LOATHE Ironman 3)
And my second problem "New Heroes....but no new Villains". Like think about it, what's the Joker/Green Goblin of Gwenpool or new Ms. Marvel?
Heck, even when the best I can say about Karol's Ms Marvel is:
Ex Military Pilot
Has powers from space
She's an Avenger
Even with just that she still has a purpose, thx to her connection to Mar-Vel, she is connected to the Kree and Skrull Empires.
It would also help with good marketing.
@@Vennex319so true Blue Beetle finally got a big screen debut and got screwed over by having no marketing despite being a good movie
Nobody wants to create new characters for a company that will own the ip, and no companies will want to let creators keep the ip.
NOW THIS, is a very good answer!
in Japan the creators of the manga series have to give permission to the anime studio if they want to animated the series or if someone wants to use the IP but wants to create different characters that take place in the same series they need permission from the creator like the spin off of my hero academia and high school dxd are done by a different creator but they needed permission from the creator of the original series
It is not so good like you are saying. If they refuse an adaptation or something it is very likelly that they won't be getting a new one later. That is why we get many and many bad anime adaptation.
at least they own the right man. what else do the original creator have once the paycheck from dc and marvel stopped?

@@hungothanh4913 did you mean 'or'? but yeah. its always question worth considering.
I bet most creator on marvel and dc do it for money and recognition, to be able to do what they wanted someday.
One problem is that people think they will never compete with the originals, and I think indie works need to know fully well to never submit and sell out
comic writers are far different from movie directors. Tim Burton have no rights to Keaton Bat
Enjoy.
The reason why Marvel and DC don't make new superheroes is simple: none of the writers and artists want to use their best ideas at Marvel and DC.
there stuck in a limbo of people complaining about no new characters then when they make new characters people complain about the old ones not getting any attention
It's less of a limbo and more of a tug of war between one side that wants the old characters to continue and one side that wants new characters.
Dcs Sideways
It depends If the new characters suck
Bruh its just that New characters are trash and not written well.
THEY'RE*
Someone has to say rhis: its so fucked up that DC and Marvel own the copyright to the word superhero, and that's why the Boys call them Supes.
is that actually true?
Mostly true, but something that people usually forget is, the characters was popular at the time they were created first. When did most of the characters get adapted to animation or to movie serials, shortly after they became popular in comics.
Superman 1938, radio 📻 play 1939
Batman 1939, movie serial 1943
Spider-man 1962, cartoon 1967
TMNT 1984, cartoon 1987
etc
The way to go is to have the new character piggyback off an established character in the mainline comics, if well written the new will gain enough popularity to eventually stand on their own
Theres plenty of new superheroes though? I can literally name 20 from each off the top of my head.

0:15 I’m not trying to sound like that guy but actually Deadpool isn’t a mutant.
I agree with Mr.Helium but seriously, there are A LOT OF FANS that could be brought in, by doing something NEW with NEW heroes.
Their newest hit series Radiant Black has been an absolute blast with originality and changes of status quo, and has even jumpstarted a brand new superhero universe called the Massive-Verse featuring entire creator owned superheroes such as Inferno Girl Red and Rogue Son!
fuck remember when they debuted "New Warriors" reboot with names and characters like "Safespace" "Snowflake" and how one kid gets his powers from his Uncle's "Internet Gas"
fuck daniel kibbelsmith and luciano vecchio
hey come on, why luciano vecchio? he wasnt just the artist of it?
The reason marvel and dc doesn’t write any new characters is because they can but you got these new writers in marvel and dc that can’t write a good story or sell a comic to save their lives
I would love to see new DC movies specially the ones they have canceled and and other new marvel characters as well
Tbh i think the main reason is because these names, actors, characters get butts in seats.
People care about stuff that makes them feel things.
one word: Manga.
You will find all superheroes you need there, some even better than poppular western superheroes.

Comics create new characters all the time. They just aren’t popular yet. Would you consider ms marvel new or old?
I think she's a legacy character so I don't think it counts , she's cool though
It will stand out because of how much it sucks.
5:16 new Super Heroes are made but people don't give them a chance or they're more small and niche.
wow, I hate the modern entertainment industry. trying to replicate and imitate the same successes they had before and do remakes and get money from franchises.
I think Tim Burton was being silly. He didn't create Batman. He was borrowing Batman in the first place.
I mean Marvel did make Kahhori in What If… season 2 last year.
Yep, I talk about that in the second part of the video 👌
was about to say that new character in what if
@sssilver_wing Well I give marvel points for trying the problem is that she only appears in that what if.
You forgot to mention Hellboy from Dark Horse Comics. But since Hellboy was created in 1993 he's pretty old too.
I really like "Criticas Crónicas" channel so I'm very sure I'll enjoy your channel. These videos are amazing!
@@spinyslasher6586 what's so different with Star Wars to comic books? They haven't tried to erase 616 comics.
If I can say something about the second point... it's pretty stupid that some of the new MCU heroes were hated for "not being so much connected with the old ones". Some people really don't like originality even in bigger franchises.
idk but black panther felt pretty new to me, same goes for shang chi, moon knight, eternals, and even dr strange and ant man(and the upcoming thunderbolts). obviously they are out of comics, but still the were new in live action i guess, im not sure if they have been in televios before, but im pretty sure the majority of the people havnt knwon them before and they still got lots of people into cinema.
also the boys is new in telivision i guess and has lots of fans
soo i do think they introduce new characters from time to time but obviously a character which has already a big brand gets more people to watch the movie
8:27 who’s the artist who drew that?
Just because a character isn't brand spanking new (created in the past two years or so) doesn't mean they aren't "new" as conpared to the others with 40+ years of hidtory. If you feel like discounting legacy characters who carry a mantle like Jaime Reyes, Miles Morales, or Sam Alexander, then that still leavs tons of characters. Squirrel Girl, Ms Marvel, Red Hood (yes, as weird as it may sound, he's actually still pretty new in the grand scheme of things), Negasonic Teenage Warhead, The Runaways, Speedball, and so many more
Makes sense.
tbh I'll watch anything with superheroes in it that makes it to any platform I have access to.
there is a writing new characters is tough when there is a back log but even "new" characters have issues of not adding anything. a character being unique is why people have favroute earth human green lanterns.
it's not like people don't care about new superheroes. They just don't do something that's cool and go viral. The other characters you mentioned, they get exposure because of their origin character names. New characters need manual exposure which is expensive.
I don't think Marvel or Dc needs new super heroes
Have you seen their hero index there are so many that they even forget about them
Like many Mutants, 1 time used charcters and more
And you forgot Sideways Dc version of Spiderman (even if I don't share this opinion but the internet named him so)
I think Justice League Unlimited was so good because it introduced all the smaller heroes you never heard of and fall in love with them like Question, Vigilanti and the golden Knight, Wannabeast, Hawk and Dove and many more
Think we need Jlu 2 for the newer hero or something simular with marvel like comebining all heroes into one show
And I personally want more heroes outside of America like in europa who are good written or feel fresh with own interesting stories not connected to stories of the America part
All the classic stuff we have was new when it released but people loved it and still do so new stories can easily succeed it just has to be good
The reason i searched for this videos
like others who watched it is the proof that there are people who want to see something original
If it's not broken don't fix it , I don't think we need more superheros when we have variants that can be used to tell different stories like how we gonna get a Spider-Man Noir show , great video btw
Marvel tried to make new superheroes
Snowflake and safespace
Didn't they scrapped that?
New ideas are to risky for investors
For example for the most part Negasonic Teenage Warhead from Deadpool is a new character.
this apply to music aswell, like maddona in deadpool 3
@
"Batman wasn't never meant to last for 100+ years"
I feel like you're right, cause he nearly fissled out in the 60s.
And no new flash movie in any other sequels of DC will never happen because of James Gunn
So...Kahhori from What If..? doesn't count as an original hero? Because she IS an original hero!
This is why anime and magna just keep getting more and more popular
well they didnt buy marvel to make new super heroes.
kinda hilarious that you mention Todd McFarlane in the section for creator rights
Weel beause there is still a lot of heroes left to explore
But people DO care about kahhori. Just watch, she will make an appearance in the live action.
Also she will have her own comic
Well red Hulk and sentry are coming 😁😏
The characters that are new, whose fault is it that they don't take off? Is it that people want to see what's familiar or is it the failing of the companies to bring in new audiences? Also are the new characters and stories even good?
i think, it was a problem from the start, just think of it, how many original and maybe popular enough superheroes who were originally women or black dudes, they werent created now, its all going from comics: captain marvel was a man, hulk-shehulk, batman-batgirl-batwoman, spider man-black spider man- female spider man, superman-supergirl, wolverine-girl wolverine x23....and you can continue this list. they did that from the start and money is only reason for that
why bother creating new character that can appeal to other nations, other cultures, of course its so much easier to dress a girl, black dude, indian dude and others in spiderman suit and give to all of them the same spider powers
Críticas crónicas no puedes ocultarte
You ask for new heroes they give you Agatha: All along😂
Well, Agatha debuted in the 60's, so she doesn't count as a new character either 😂
No wonder we don't get Hancock 2.
The Boys can show a new character and make it soo gross that you automatically like it..
For example:- "Tek Knight"
5:53 incredibles are fantastic 👀😂😂🤣
Marvel just might be finished I am not gonna lie (I just started watching your videos today they really good keep it up pls)
I think one of the best independent series was SEVEN TO ETERNITY by image. Thats a movie there
I think the what if was pretty cool
