Both endings are happy ends, but for different reasons!
One is a happy end because the worst person in the world dies.
The other, because the people behind the game have no self-awareness and think that letting hundreds of people die just for the sake of saving one really shitty human being is A OK, thus giving said ending a happier tone.

It's was a hard choice. I kinda wanted to kill everyone in town but Chloe was such a shitty character that I liked the serial killer rapist more.

You're exactly right! It's hilarious how a towering bouncer is intimidated by a 90 pound skinny chick threatening to kick his ass. She even went on some rant about robot ninjas and other nonsense and _was actually taken seriously._ BECAUSE THAT'S TOTALLY HOW A BOUNCER WOULD REACT IN THIS SITUATION.
He was a very sensitive and simple bouncer.
I can guarantee you as soon as someone that much shorter than you is like "I can kick your ass" the first response any bouncer or hormonal guy will ever have is "Lets go, I'd like to see you try." Then they'd start sizing you up and they'd be like "Come on, seriously, lets see what you've got!" and at that point, no amount of ninja dinosaur dragon rants are going to make them back off. You've specifically armed them and they're up for it, lol. That's the point when they go into combat mode and they're just like excited just to knock your block off to get back at you for making an ass of yourself.

Big Fat Man the ironic thing about the stepdad is that he actually ends up being a good character in the end, meaning they almost admit that a patriarchal figure is good for the development of a young woman.

Remember kids: The choices in this game is why Telltale has timers on almost every decision and talking scene, mostly to keep the narrative going rather than stalled for 30 minutes as choal makes the same face constantly.

That backtalk system reminds me of the Oblivion wheel. Yknow, how you always had to insult people and you could gain affection for it, and it was unintentionally hilarious?
The difference here is that a) oblivion is fucking 12 years old and b) that game was actually good
A game where the no choice the player makes is going to make a difference, because it's a prequel and we already know the ultimate outcome.

this game is awful.....Chloe is possibly one of the most bland, one-dimensional, monotone, poorly written characters I have ever come across in a game ever. Like I'm so confused because I thought the writers were supposed to make her likable? At least with Max, she focused more on other people rather than herself even if her voice wanted me to fucking die. But Chloe seems like she has no redeeming qualities about her and yet the creators thought it was a good idea to focus the game on her? Yikes.

@Crisp Neptune I think the ending would have been better if Max actually killed Chloe herself, like throw her off the cliff. The toronado disappearing and the choices you made in the game actually meaning something!

Come on, guys. Ease up on Chloe. She's a relatable teen who's been through so much shit like losing her dad, her friend moving away,... and that's it. That was all 2 years ago and both those things couldn't control their outcome. You know who's been through more shit? David, the guy with PTSD who finally found happiness with Joyce (and vice-versa) and wants the best for her and her daughter. But since he's a *man* with conservative values, who cares about him, so Chloe has every right to belittle him and the audience should follow suit.
But of course.
but.. you can side with David through out, and he's shown to be a really cool dude by the game's own admission in the end.

not trying to throw shade at you, but he genuinely is a fascinating character that came out of nowhere imo. Max was...complicated and unsure of herself, at least in the moderate way I played her. And I personally liked her cringe dialogue. It felt suitably like a girl who hadn't grown into herself yet, just regurgitating what her peer group found funny. Or I might just have a terrible sense of tHe YoUtH that's just as likely.
But yeah Chloe is, no matter how you slice it, a humongous piece of shit who doesnt even TRY with people she doesnt like. And barely tries with people she does.
As someone with parents who split and remarried while I was still growing up, watching her tear down her stepdad at every single opportunity without a second of remorse or any thought for the people around her is fucking disgusting. I know relationships with step-parents often start out rough (mine did), because trust has to be earned, but the way this teenager treats her mom's husband is just so unreasonably cruel. I'd genuinely rather see a game centered around his life, and how he has to make the most of it and be a decent stepdad and husband.
I didn't really like him in season 1 because of how he treated students. But I couldnt help but sympathize with him most of the time throughout Before The Storm

Because it has lesbians and cute girls with no complexity. Which makes people think there's something to these characters because they're not standard white guys and it's 'progressive', but, in reality, there's nothing there and it really isn't. It's just a prop used for quick points on the internet once people started shipping these two and there's really nothing else to the entire experience outside of plotholes and dumb decisions.
