again a precious idea ... i never did something like this ( i knew only the oil paint on water, for ''floating papersheets'', giving an effect like faux marble.) - but this is way better
Thank you so much for this video .. It was sent to me by my subscribers after I did a Hydro Dip video. I have done another one using some of your techniques and just wanted to say thank you !
Love this, thank for sharing. After you make your mold and apply the sealant. You get an container fill it with water and then add your colors. You let them dry. My question is how do you get rid of the water in the container, without staining anything?
I don’t seal them. It’s better not to, unless you do it after. The paint left over in the water is just stringy. It doesn’t stain anything. I just poured it out in the grass or driveway.
Do you have to wait a couple of days after making your concrete containers Before you can do this paint technique or can you do it right after taking it out of mold. Thanks Henrietta
Hi, you will need to wait until absolutely all the moisture has come out, and that amount of time will depend on the mix you are using. I usually use Cement All which is a rapid set and cure (1 hour), so the cement is dry 24 hours later. Most other mixes may need 3 days. The thickness will also be a factor. The thicker, the longer to dry.
Hi Brittany, the Cement All is off-white naturally so it's up to you if you want to prime it. I primed most of the pieces (in white), but not all of them. The paint sticks slightly better when primed, but you can also use a low grit sand paper to rough the surface up to make it stick better if you don't want to prime it. And you can get creative and use any color primer too. It doesn't have to be white.
I use acrylic paint on my concrete candles- inside and out. The spray paint should be the same, but I would test it first. It could be different with different brands and metallics.
Hi Amelia, I haven't had good luck with acrylic spray-it's quite noticeable. I typically don't seal my planters, but when I do, I like to use Easy Seal Concrete sealer. It's quick and easy to use. If you paint the planter and want to protect the coating, the Easy Seal works for that too.
Oh thanks for the quick response. Glad to know i was not doing something wrong. U r right rustoleym worked better than the cheap brand I bought too. I hope my jars will come out as nice as yours
@@frankielafleur1061 None of mine have peeled, but I also sealed them after hydro dipping. The base coat probably helps with this, but I don’t think I’ve had any peeling using acrylic spray paint on concrete- just applied normally.
The paint doesn't mix in with the water really, it remains mostly on top is just stringy. So I dump it out on a thick layer of gravel under my deck and just pick off the larger bits of paint. You could get an old window screen and dump it out on that to save yourself some trouble.
Hi, You don't have to, it still works, but they will come out a little brighter if you do paint them white. You can also paint them a different base color than white.
@@jennicadelossantos3607 What file? They are various types of acrylic spray paints. Some work better than others. I just checked, all the links are working.
Hi, I’m sorry it didn’t work. I have 3 tutorials on my website for hydro dipping. They all can be applied to concrete. The type of spray paint is very important. Sheen, brand etc. Even within the same brand and type, some don’t work as well as others. I have the link to the written tutorial on my site. I link to the paints I used. And if you search on my site for “hydro dipping” you’ll see the other tutorials and see the other good spray paints I used and I explain which worked great.
I forget, but the link to the materials list for the paint is in the description below the video. I have the full written tutorial on my blog. Rust oleum something.

Wow wow Beautiful 🥰
Fantastic video would I still be able to put a candle in my pot.
Hi Rosie, Yes, the paint is acrylic and should be safe to put a candle inside.
Very interesting tutorial
I love it!..Can this be done with acrylic paint and water?
beautiful color pot you have
LOVEEEEE them all
Wow thanks so much for this! Looks incredible.

Thank you. Great idea.
So good! I find this interesting.
What other paint can you recommend as alternative to spray paint?
I've seen it done with nail polish.
@@ArtsyPrettyPlants oh I see. Thanks!

@@ArtsyPrettyPlants great I’m working with cement all as well
This is so great! Thanks!!!
Thanks so much! I learned ❤️

So there’s no need to paint the cement all vessel white or use primer? Just dip the gray vessel in the water with the paint?

I make concrete vessels for candle making, is this safe to use for that purpose?
I use acrylic paint on my concrete candles- inside and out. The spray paint should be the same, but I would test it first. It could be different with different brands and metallics.
Can you recommend a good concrete sealer for small planters? I’m trying clear acrylic spray right now but it takes so many coats.

Should the planters be primed?
Yes, or you risk the hydro dipped paint peeling.
genial, gracias por compartir
great video! i tried and my paint was stringy. was the water on the warmer or cooler side?
It was from the garden hose, so cool water. I had problems with stringiness too. Some paint colors were better than others.
Oh thanks for the quick response. Glad to know i was not doing something wrong. U r right rustoleym worked better than the cheap brand I bought too. I hope my jars will come out as nice as yours
Does it stay on or can it peel off over time?

How did you dispose of the water?

How to dry these? As the bottom sticks to the base and then gets spoilt
I used wire rack and turned them upside down.
Hi, are these sealed before or after dip?
I didn’t seal them. If you want to seal, I would do it after, not before.

I tried this but I failed, I think it might be because I used enamel spray paint instead of acrylic spray paint
