Hi, you just won a new follower ;-) Thanks for your explanations, just what i was looking for. I use simple acrylic paint and then varnish. I would like the mica's but i found it so expensive...I've tried to get on Alex's page for the lid but it doesn't work (maybe because I'm in Belgium ;-) ...thanks , have a good night and keep going, love your creations.
Mica powder and glitter gets covered in cement... sometimes comes to the surface... but if you want to color it... add cement powder coloring like you do to color grout. Paint will also color your cement.
Lovely video. Hydro dipping looks fun and a different option when it comes to coloring the vessel. I’m definitely going to try it. Direct Colors Pigments will do the job for you. You’ll only need a small amount to accomplish the color you are looking for.
I wonder if using nail polish would work in water too. Also instead of dipping it in sideways if you went straight down in with the vessel, I wonder how that would look. Nice video, I'm learning alot from these videos. Thx.
Thanks for great video! Have you tried dusting the silicone mold with Mica, before pouring the cement? I'd be interested to know if the Mica would adhere to the concrete? (I use this technique with resin)
Thanks for watching! That's a great idea! In this video I just sprinkled it down the sides and it formed a pile at the bottom, so maybe if I sprinkle it and swirl it around it may work out better. Thanks for the tip :)
@@MalenasCreations it was a cool idea something different I don’t make them just like to watch videos on candles been made but it was something I hadn’t seen the others do that you done 👌
I loved watching your video on hydro dipping. It’s fun to watch the color combinations and swirls. I just started playing with cementall & just received my earth finishes. If you seal the inside with earth safe and then dip with paint is it necessary to reseal the inside after adding paint inside before adding wax & burning? Thank you.
You know it's funny you mentioned that...I was just talking to my friends today about that. I do think it's well oversaturated since covid. Seem like everywhere I go someone is selling candles. If your looking to start just a small business then you should be good :)
@@MalenasCreations thank you! Yes, so many businesses started during covid. I already have a small business but I'm looking to sell something that people purchase often which I thought candles would be. I'm just worried about investing a good amount of money then not being able to at least make my money back. Surprisingly it's actually not cheap to start a candle business.
I tried the Hydrodip method, but I didn't quite have great results - I'm wondering if it is because I used enamel-based spray paint? (And I'm wondering if it will be safe for me to use to make them into candles now.... oof)
It's just all a matter of testing them. It's the process we candlemakers have to go through. I haven't made the hydro dip vessels in a long time. I'm always doing new projects all the time.
@@MalenasCreations Hi Malena, I am a newbie at this and still trying to figure out the candle/fragrance mathematics. Is it 8 oz of wax and 1 oz of fragrance?
Hi. I’m new to your channel but I’m so obsessed so far. My name is Jennifer and I’m 45. My husband and I have been married for 25 years now. We have two children, 21&19. I just recently this summer had to bury both parents and my only sibling. To say 2021 almost killed me would be an understatement. I’ve been praying and searching to find my purpose in this world again. My parents loved candles. And trust me I’ve went through every trend on TT and candles is where my heart is at. I want to name this new beginning JoLila’s after both my parents names. With a cardinal symbol. But I don’t understand everything that goes into this. Does the wax need to be a certain temp before adding in the oils? And tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Jennifer, congratulations on your 25yrs of marriage! I am also truly sorry for your losses. I absolutely love the idea of you with making candles in memory of them. I would recommend do a lot of research before investing in a candle business. Sorry but I can't help with all the info you need in just a comment.
Mica in my experience is more equivalent to eyeshadow when it comes to cement, unfortunately. Pigment powders work better, although a little more pricey.
Beautiful work ma'am ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! 😊
Thanks for sharing this technique. I love it.
Thanks for watching!

Im researching new ideas for coloring vessels, and the candles, etc…
I absolutely love u, ur awesome
Also, thank you for the video. I love the color combos.

That would be something to try. There are so many things you can do with concrete. Thanks for watching.
How much oz of wax can you fill to the unique vessel?
Beautiful!! Do you seal it once again after dipping them in swirly water colour?
Yes, I do!
would you seal these before or after you do dip them? They look beautiful!
Thank you! I seal them after I dip them.
Wow..love these

I think you need to mix the mica into the dry cement first and then add the water.
Did you seal after you drip them in paint are just left them to dry thanks
I prefer to seal coat them after they dry from the dipping

Thank LeeLee! I always like to be different.
Fantastic
Hi did you get this mold on Amazon?
Yes ma'am! You can find it listed on my Amazon store front under candle making
Ouch! Watching you use all that mica was painful! I turn my cement all white using titanium dioxide before I add paint to dye the cement ❤
I may have to try that! Thanks!
Auguri per il nuovo Anno e grazie 😊
Use hydrostone. Its a gypsum based cement, and is white in color.

If you seal the inside with earth safe and then dip with paint is it necessary to reseal the inside after adding paint inside before adding wax & burning? Thank you.
I normally do seal again after, just to be safe. I don't want to take any chances of what the hydro paint may do or not do if it gets on the inside.
When you burn the candle, do you have any of the color seep into the wax?
I haven't had that happen since I now only let the paint cover the outside and not let it get on the inside.
Such cool techniques thank you! Out of curiosity do you think candles are oversaturated? I want to start a small business but not too sure.

@@humblelovingsouls Just a little advice. It can be done :) You won't know until you try and have patience.
Are these jars sealed first..then dipped
I now do both.
Do you let your vessel cure before you hydro dip your vessel?
It would be best to do that. If you don't have the time to wait, you can also dip them after they full dry.
Hi, may I ask were did you bot your mold with your name? Kisses from Portugal.
You can go to custom-soap-stamps.com and their Etsy shop www.etsy.com/shop/CustomSoapStamps

@@MalenasCreations Thank you! I'll definitely have to test the two I made... and invest in a different kind of spray paint, like the acrylic kind lol
Before hydro dipping do you seal the outside of the vessel as well as the inside
I only sealed the inside, I haven't tried sealing the outside yet.
Question does the spray paint bubble on the outside of the vessel because of the heat?
Try to keep it on the outside of the vessel only.
How soon after you dip can I seal? And after seal how long to wait to pour candle?
Let it dry for a few mins and then seal coat. I normally wait a few hours or a day to pour the wax.
Thank you so much.
Can you post the link to the Earth Safe Sealer. The link above has a different sealer.

Hi, do you seal the hydradip before or after you dip? Or both before and after? Thanks! Great video
Hi there! Thanks for watching! I seal the inside before and if I feel it needs an extra coat, I'll seal after one more time.
@@MalenasCreations awesome thanks so much for getting back to me
thank you
Have you tried a glass or ceramic vessel?
I have not, but that maybe a great idea to do next.
I have a question : even if the paint is flammable, is it safe to use on the outside of a candle jar only?
When you dip them, try your best to not get the paint on the inside. If it does happen, seal coat with the EarthSafe seal coat.
Did you measure the FO or just eyeball it?
I measure by ounce/percentage
Where did you have your lid made please?
Here's a video I did making the mold and has all the details where you can get it. ua-cam.com/video/-ZjcDsAjZtg/v-deo.html
After you hydro dip do you seal the outside then?
You can if you like the shiner look.
How much Fragrance oil did you use for this particular candle vessel size. Did you use the entire 1oz bottle
I use 10% FO load, so .9oz was used for this vessel
@@MalenasCreations Thank you
@@MalenasCreations Hi Malena, I am a newbie at this and still trying to figure out the candle/fragrance mathematics. Is it 8 oz of wax and 1 oz of fragrance?
Do you seal before you dip or after?
In this video I sealed the inside before I dipped them. Give them a few more days to dry and then seal over the dip paint if it gets on the inside
@@MalenasCreations Thank you so much!
Can you send the mold to India?
Links are in the description as to where you can buy them.
A month later, do you notice any chipping or peeling of the paint? The method seems easy enough and the results are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Not yet and I've already reused the vessel twice for testing. So far so good :)
@@MalenasCreations thanks so much for your reply!
I seen others used Direct Colors Pigments
Thanks! I need to try them instead.
Use pigment powder
I hate when the cement eats up all your pigment and glitters!
