  • In this video I demonstrate how I start and tie a 4 strand round braid. This video was made for my friend Shonda, but you the viewer can learn as well! =)
    Edit: Here is a buddy of mine who shows you what you can do on how to end it making a loop, at the end he doesn't show what to do with the ends but at that point you can just snip them burn them and use some super glue to keep them in place. I've never done this so if you wish to follow his directions you're on your own.

    I have to thank you for this video... I've been using it to do several knife lanyards, using 550 paracord, usually with the inner core strings removed, depending on the knife... I plan on using this 4-strand round braid to also do a walking stick wrist strap, once I finish up my knives... I'm brand new to paracord braiding, and your video was very helpful... hardest part is getting started with just a loop that I secure in a small table vise... would love to see your finishing knots ! THANKS!!!

It looks amazing and makes a really, and i mean REALLY good thing to whip people if they deserve it. I use it on my dog leads.

    it was done with psracord. you can do it with yarn but depending on the type you won't really get the same effect because it won't be as bulky

  • @JJiG
    @JJiG  12 років тому

    It doesn't matter the age of the person the necklace is going on, it depends on what fits them. And its always going to be 2 strands folded in the middle to give you 4 strands. Hence 4 strand round braid.

    Good for braiding a 4 wire power lead for RC vehicles that have high current draw servos where a single power connector from the receiver battery isn't enough (servo connectors are only good for around 5 amps or so). In this case you want the braid fairly loose rather than tight.

    Kimberly this braid can be used in a bunch of different applications. I do have other videos on my channel showing you how to end it for a necklace. I also use this in my dog leashes as well. It all depends what application you want to use it on! Be creative and explore all the different possibilities! Thanks for watching!

    Thank you buddy (JJig). I was curious, I am actually building your model for the 4 string rope for a handle on my drums. How do I end the rope. What I am doing is simply drilling 2 holes in a box to put the handle there. I just need some sort of stopper or knot that will hold it in place. perhaps a wood dowel will work?

  • @JJiG
    @JJiG  12 років тому

    It's quite easy to do, all u need to do is tie your braid as long as u want, and then tie a diamond knot at the end to get your tassle. Look at my videos to learn how to make a diamond knot.

    I'm really not planning on making a video about that, what type of closure are you using? A Barrel type like in my other video? If you check my channel you'll see a video showing how to do it around a core. If its that type of closer w/ a core it would come out much better. a little thicker but better and easier to end.

    Hey Matt I got the buckle from a website called buckle runner, i posted it somewhere in a previous comment I think. But they are the Phiten buckles there, pretty cheap, and if you watch my newest video it will show you how to end one as well.

  • @JJiG
    @JJiG  12 років тому

    If I make another video it will be better, but just watch it again. There isn't much really see, i've asked lots of people and they can seem to follow it just fine. As for buckles I am using Phiten buckles that I got from bucklerunner there is no size for it, just 1 size and its all 550 paracord that I use in all my videos.

    You can use anything to make the braid, but if you're going to use thread you will need to use alot so its thick.. I'm not quite sure what thread you're using tho but I have seen people use some in other videos. but I use paracord, but any rope will work fine.

    Where can I find the directions on how to finish this?

  • @JJiG
    @JJiG  12 років тому

    This video really just demonstrates the tying technique. You're really better off tying this around a core. I have another video for that, but the best way i've seen is to sew the ends together and then use a small decorative knot to cover the ends.
    on my other video I just use a single strand of 550 cord as the core with a barrel buckle. slide it through one end tie a knot and repeat for the other side and there is your core with the buckles and all that is left is to tie the 4 strand braid.

    how much string do you need for a thirteen year old and how many strands?

  • @JJiG

    I usually go 3x the length of the necklace u want to tie. So say a 2" necklace I would use 6 feet of cord per color.

    jjig, everything was super simple and well explained but at 2:51 you show the weave for the last time...with all four ends just hanging loose. I think what crayzi was asking is how do you finish/end it? does each strand get tucked in someplace?

    • @JJiG
      @JJiG  10 років тому

      It can be finished in lots of ways, this video is just to show you how to tie the braid. It's hard for me to explain because I don't have a video showing other ways to handle it, if I can find a good video elsewhere i'll update the description with a video showing a way to end it as a dog leash, which is why i made this video.

    • @JJiG
      @JJiG  10 років тому

      Burn the ends and melt the end pieces together. Be careful not to burn yourself. Makes for a very clean finish and the ends will never unravel. Good luck.
