    Phil's greatest strength: He simply does not have any fear of losing money. Period. This allows him to focus on everything else because the money is a non-issue for him.

      but I've seen him saying "play at the stakes you're comfortable with" multiple times when being asked about advice for begginers. that means playing with buy-ins as low as 1/20 of your bankroll if that means you are comfortable playing the hand the way you know you should play it, even if it doesn't go the way you wanted you are still fine with losing money, but at the same time you know you've made the most profitable decisions you could, and that's all that matters in the long run. I highly suggest listening to the podcast he did with dnegs and a couple other guys, it should be like a month old, he talked about his upcoming and early stages of poker, and it's really fun to hear that from a world class player, arguably the best of all time.

      Online Poker is all about volume and having stats on your opponents anyway. Get the VPIP, PRF, 3-bet, aggression factor stats of your opponents over 1k+ hands and you'll have an edge.
      Also, if you play on low stakes, just play like a nit and let them be aggressive into you. Then win the long-run of poker.
      the Phil Ivey MasterClass is more about real-world live poker to be honest. Sure, lots of his teachings will translate to online but your live game will sky-rocket.

      If you are an experienced poker player, I'd get the Phil Ivey MasterClass. If more of a beginner and novice poker fan, I'd explore the Daniel Negreanu MasterClass. I have a complete MasterClass review below if you want further information negreanu's poker school.

    Completely disagree with your statement at 30:50. This type of material is exactly meant to be for "new players". You want to get to this level of thinking within a very short amount of time as it's barely getting into advanced territory. Whereas this way of thinking might get you started at the lowest stakes, you need way more to succeed over time. From a poker players perspective, this is rather a documentary about Phil Ivey that is enjoyable to watch.

    • @LouisPetrides
      @LouisPetrides  5 років тому +3

      Thanks for the comment Andreas, I'm subbed to you by the way. -- Love your Poker channel. I see your point, however, to be honest. We're both experienced poker players, and it's sometimes hard to step outside of the poker bubble we sometimes fall into.
      Yes, it's relatively simple for us poker players (and in most cases, it's not simple for many seasoned poker players). But let's imagine our grandmother or your little brother/sister wanted to learn how to play poker. In Phil Ivey's MasterClass, from the second lesson, he takes us through real-world examples of top-level WSOP plays while he talks about Prioritize Game Dynamics Over Range Chart and the dynamics in defending blinds. How will a new player honestly get this? New players are not familiar with these terms.
      What about lesson 3? How will a newer player have any context behind Induced Bluffs Vs Polarized Value Betting, Manipulating Capped Ranges, and the list goes on. Again, I see your point. But no, I fundamentally believe this is an advanced poker MasterClass and made for those with more than 6 months experience. That's why I recommend new poker players explore the Daniel Negreanu Masterclass before making this investment.

    • @AndreasFroehliPoker
      @AndreasFroehliPoker 5 років тому +2

      @@LouisPetrides Fair enough ;) I just think Phil is saying "inducing bluffs vs polarized value betting" in a different form that's much less theory based. Also I think it's important to differentiate between "new player" and "new to poker strategy". Imo a "new player" wouldn't get this, but a "new to poker strategy" player could. Additionally I have a little bit of a problem with the term "advanced", whenever a course is created that doesn't include a solver or game theory - or knowledge that is directly correlated with it.
