Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Phil Ivey continues his conversation with Barry Greenstein. They reminisce about the old days, including Phil's family roots, and give some insight into how he got so great at poker with fierce drive and passion for the game.
this is the first indication I've ever seen of Phil Ivey having a personality
Right it just shows how stone cold he can be at the table.. the Goat IMO
@@pitchbuckets2860 agreed
He’s bluffing 😂
Probably cos hes not seriously into poker right now?
@@cwaddle he is back now. But yeah when this video was released 2 years ago he was going through some legal troubles so took time off
“If you don’t talk, you make them uncomfortable, and when they’re uncomfortable, they play worse.” He honestly lived to win. It’s why he’s the best.
The opposite works too. Talking to players can make them do some dumb shit.
@@forgotaboutbreyea but you also distract yourself
@@victorpena3129 You're right it definitely happens
So freaking stoked for these interviews. I feel like they’re hidden gold and us few have been chosen to get it recommended.
Ditto
Well they have uploaded them recently! Looks like old school poker is stepping back a little bit. Triton and this, pure joy content
Agreed bro
UA-cam has algorithms it’s nothing special to get it recommended bud
Amen to that. Great comment
I never heard Phil Ivey say swear words and dude all in the same convo ..so worth it
These two have such a GREAT Dynamic. Its funny that they both seem so different but the back & fourth compliments each other so well...
I can listen to Ivey talk all day
it's amazing how sincere, intimate and funny a conversation between two friends can get. It's the best interviews ever of Phil Ivey. Thank you everyone for this, especially one of the greats Barry!
Two legends in the same room.. Barry is a true gentleman
Most honest interview of Ivey yet . Barry had to be a part of this .
Ivey had the greatest intuition for the game, long before solvers and GTO.
He taps in too well...its scary but I can see how he could do it...tapped into myself...its super raw and scary to get chips pushed your way when the cards don’t matter after that flick or lack of confidence you sniff out in your opponent...its why I study more and play less...also, I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate losing! Yeah, no, I’m a terrible loser. ;)
Knowing Phil in most videos to be mostly silent / less talkative, this interview indeed put a new light in my perspective towards him.
Kudos and love the interview!
You can tell they are really good friends. They are really funny together too
Can't love this conversation enough! Thank you Barry and Phil for making this happen, and Poker King for capturing it for us fans!
I swear Barry looks like the younger Barry in undercover old makeup
Staying focused at the poker table at all times is so difficult. Most people, including myself will "look out the window" way more than they'd admit.
Yes. You cant be all loosey goosey and having a sandwich at the table
I totally agree with you, especially during times when you are given garbage hands
This dude is always focused on everything including the people interviewing him I don't think he can not be focused haha
When I play live it's like I'm there. When I play 12 tables online my mind thinks about random shit XD
Yeah I use to drink and punt shit off cause I was bored, now that I got my ADHD under control I consistently triple up cause I catch bluffs because I'm paying attention
Phil Ivey - One of the greatest guys I ever meet in my life. Much RESPECT!
How many times have you heard the old cliche, "Poker is a game of people"? Well here's two of them 🙂 FANTASTIC conversation(s) 👏👏👏
The GOAT. Nice to see he actually has a personality
This is an absolutely incredible interview. Two absolute legends of the game having just a deep conversation. Love it!
Funny these are being posted cause I just finished watching the Barry G pod with Joey and he was talking about Phil. Very cool to see Phil open to the public more, it's great for the game!
I miss Phil Ivey being on TV!
I used to watch so many poker vids between 2015/16 at uni - now its like both me and youtube poker have matured into adulthood
This is pure GOLD I think this is the first time I ever heard Phil Ivey cuss like that priceless🤣
Ivey was Inspirational, I hope the Borgata deal was favorable for him.
great interview! thanks Barry!
Maybe some people don’t know this but Barry is one of if not his closest friend
Thx lol😁
He and Daniel N...Phil is the best.
Ivey would have always been great, but Barry helped him also.
J Rose there are a lot of people who want to be associated with greatness
@@Victoriaaaaaaa using f word
A great interview, thanks to Barry and Phil for sharing this conversation with us.
This is an awesome interview. Hard work, an eternal student mentality and concentration at the tables does pay off!
This is a very informative conversation! His mindset and disposition makes a lot of sense in hindsight
you can see his eyes when he plays poker, looking all over, darting around watching everything
Two of my favorites together. This is like Christmas morning.
Wow... I don't know how I got here but, I'm here!!! And I'm loving it. 😁
Thanks guys, that was awesome.
Phil and Barry…awesome!
Ivey the best of all time
Really enjoyed this interview. Cool seeing the sensei interview the apprentice turned MASTER
I need a sitcom with these two as roommates.
Phil Ivey is a Genius. He competitive nature and intensity reminds me of Jordan. The Michael Jordan. Phil Ivey's mannerisms are exactly like Wilson Fisk's from Marvel's DAREDEVIL
"one of the best" he was truly THE BEST and in my eyes the greatest of all time.
Daniel negraneau my friend
😂😂😂
Stu Ungar
@@Barrymacockkiner3050even Daniel will say Phil is head and shoulders above
Interesting guy, but please drop the annoyingly loud stock music, you don't need it...
Phil unleashed an impressive apple eating technique at the November 9. Then Darvin Moon hit a 3-outer, AQ vs AK, and Phil was gone.
Ivey is so funny and so smart. Wish he did more interviews
"Everyone was against me playing poker in my entire family ... The only one who was for me playing was my grandfather ... He would say, 'I know that if I told you not to do it, it'll make you want to do it even more, so I'm just going to go ahead and support it' ... The more people told me I couldn't do it, the more I just wanted to prove them wrong. It was almost like I had to do it."
Man I love Phil & Berry
Phil Ivey the GOAT!
What's GOAT?
@@maveluck Greatest Of All Time
@@steffanij lol
Are there more interviews where Phil is this relaxed? Love it
I always felt like Ivey and Dwan had an x-factor and presence at the tables that most other players didn't have when they were in their prime. They made other pros uncomfortable and were in their own tier.
Agree
Well said. They were in their own league.
He's a laser focused perfectionist plain and simple... once money is involved its over 😫🤣🤣🤣🤣
Phil Ivey always remembered me of Michael Jordan. It's a shame he has never won the WSOP Main Event, I think his train was in 2003, but he was unlucky with CM.
Barry Greenstein is Iconic, these 2 are great friends
Wow, it's been awhile since I saw Barry.... He got old, but he's still a legend!!! Two legends talking about life and poker...
Everyone gets old.
Even back in the HSP days he dyed his hair and beard... i just think he's embraced aging now
Yeah, Barry has gotten older. I use to watch him on high stakes poker back in the day and didn't see him much between now and then. Barry in his 60's or 70's now? I hope he's doing well and enjoying his life overall, same for Phil, and same for everyone on here too.
It's nice to see Phil so animated.
Awesome 💙
This series is very fun to watch.
Greenstein is brilliant at these interview things
The first time I saw phil ivey play was season 6 of high stakes poker. He dominated all the pros.
Remembering the trips down the parkway to Billy’sPokerRoom to play seven stud. Great to see you back playing again.
I love hearing from these two legends. 😊
I love how Barry paints getting up at 6:30am for a year as dedication... I get up at 5:45am every work day and envisage to do so for the next 20 years because that's just what my job requires. I have to be there by 7am, period, and it's a 45 minute bicycle ride.
It’s probably unconventional for a poker player
Nice I'm up at 4 start at 5.27 yesterday I was up at 3 ha things ya gotta do to put food on the table
In fairness...you have to. Phil -- as a multi-millionaire -- chose to do that to get good at something that really didn't have anything to do with his profession.
You have to in order to earn money, whereas he doesn’t have to he just does because he wants to be the best.
@@tekkertruth1256 I don't really "have to" either... I could get another job or go there by car. But I like my job and think of my commute as 2x 45 minutes of daily excercise. I just don't feel like it takes all that much "dedication" to get up when the alarm goes off in the morning. It's just a matter of adapting your routine to your schedule.
I am so happy Phil is a free bird again! Fly Ivey! love you :)
That was awesome morer
awesome interview. great back and forth. a pleasure
Wow, I didn't even recognize that was Barry until I came to the comments.
We're all getting old! I first saw Barry on TV when I was 19. 32 now.
He looks completely different even from 2012
@@alexojideagu he stopped dying his hair and embraced aging.
@@seankiesling2054 True, and he's 65 now
Me to lol. I still have Barry Ace on the river book!
"Just because I respect your opinion, doesn't mean I think you're better than me"
The Mamba of Poker
That means he is entitled to his opinion and he does not respect it.
Barry Greenstein! I loved watching him play High Stakes on tv way back, he was awesome. Also, loved watching Sammie Farha. Phil was always the most feared player at the table since day one and he's probably still the most feared. Much respect to the dinosaurs of poker!
I don't chase joy. I just am joy. I find people around me constantly. I simply connect with as most people as possible in shed light always in conversations. Chasing joy how he talks can lead suckers chasing down their bank account to zero
My hero! Iveys a literal genius
“I’m right here” has me dying lmao
He certainly works very hard mentally as what the others seemly labor for is merely a habit to him. That is hard work!
Barry looks healthier now than he did in the PAD days.
idk about that
He was drugged out back then
Classic video thanks
great to see phil at ease being interviewed
Cool to see this side of Ivey. Never really knew it.
Anyone remember back on Barry's vlog on PokerRoad, where he sat behind Phil at $2000/$4000 stud at the Hustler casino? Ahh 2006.
I miss poker road so badly, was some of the funniest content I’ve ever seen
Those were the days my friend.
I used to watch them play there at the Hustler with Larry F
Loved poker road. Those weekly phone calls that annoyed phil so badly were magical as well.
Yeah they had rules I think you had to play for a minimum of I forget if it was one hour another words no hit and runs I think you had to have a minimum of 50,000 on the table cash or chips actually I thought it was 4000 8000 but I might be wrong I didn’t get too close to the table I do remember Ivy playing obviously Larry playing a Ted forest I can’t remember the restThis was before all the television boom so at the time they were playing I didn’t know who any of the players were because they weren’t that well-known as far as television recognition goes
Det är anledningen till att jag gav upp sog efter 7 år. Jag gav allt och fick inget tillbaka. Så kärleken och passionen för poker kom tillbaka.
What would you say to young phill?
Call Dwan's riverbet with a6 diamonds
Hahaha best comment
One of my favourite poker moments to watch. The fact that Ivey considered calling is incredible.
That's some legendary stuff right there, the fact that Dwan made that bet with absolutely nothing and Ivey tanked to almost calling 2nd pair was incredible shit, definitely made for tv.
@@alainkaizer7769 it was like bottom or 4th pair i think.
That hand is cemented in the poker history books. It was next dimension play from both guys.
I would like to know what D-Negs thought Ivey had, I'm not so sure he put him on a 6.
Can we please get another 25k of these videos with Phil?
Amazing interview. So real. Thanks men.
Barry you are AWESOME!!! I remember playing at a table with Barry (briefly) during a tournament (such a nice guy) he had a monster chip stack and was kind enough to take a picture with me when I got knocked out 😄 I’ll remember it forever!
Phil Ivy's attitude and strive for success is so similar to that of Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan....
Neither are or were at Jordan level lol thats impossible
I’m glad they didn’t blur the cuss words
Much respect Barry and Phil. 🙏
Great poker player, being interviewed by another. Good stuff and both more class than some younger guys
Awesome! BG and PI!
One of my all time poker highlights... I was goofing around at Ceasers in Vegas at a 1/2. Table was full of overly aggressive players so I just waited for hands and then snapped up their bluffs. They had really typical bluff tells but I was the only one at the table who was reading. I was up big. Dealer change. The old dealer walked by the higher roller table where Ivey was playing and in passing said to him "that guy over there is playing the players instead of his cards". Phil glanced in my direction and nodded.
Really? The dealer walked away. To another table. Spoke to somebody else, phil ivey. And you heard the dealer making shiny comments, about you, to phil ivey, like they're best friends & like he's going to give a rats ass?
I think you're full of shit.
What people don't realize is this: to be the BEST POKER PLAYER you can be, at a live table, requires you to shed your humanity. I remember once where I REALLY NEEDED to win, and I went to the table with this FEROCIOUS outlook, almost as if I HATED the people around me, and in that session, I was LITERALLY 5X as good as I normally am when I'm just relaxing and having a fun time.
This PI interview is so awesome ty PK! 👍🏽
Phil Ivey always keeps you guessing
first time i heard Ivey drop the F BOMB..he makes is sound awesome lol
love barry and phil !! more interviews please !!!!!!!!
Ivey, like many others, has the personality/problem of it is never enough. I am am one.
Really like these interviews
Ivey’s claw hand shows his intensity
omfg that was incredible. Thanks so much for this :-)
I love live live Phil..amazing interview #phillipaIvey
What a treat ....two fine men great poker players thanks
Two great guys! Would love to see more.
I know all about being the best in the world. Two different sports both a world apart. Even today at age 64 and a half I still consider myself the fastest pinball player alive today. At age 4 and a half onward I never really lost playing for money on a pinball machine.
keep up the good work!
This video is 100% awesome.
Why does Barry talk about Phil in the third person, when Phil is right there? Phil even says "I'm right here."
