    Whoa. So weird hearing an interview with the voice of Heather, the best companion in f4, that I've spent hundreds of hours falling in love with haha. I'm so excited for her to make a mod for Starfield. She will undoubtedly be my favorite companion.

    Who blows up the only place in the wasteland with working coffee makers? Thank you for having Llama on. I just finished her DLC story and it was fantastic. My secret hope is that Bethesda has played her too, because Heather is superior to vanilla companions in every way.

    • @shilohmc
      @shilohmc  Рік тому +8

      Agreed, the more in depth Bethesda makes the companion dialogue the easier time I will have making my own character. I hate to sound lazy, but making all those conditions Llama had to create sounds like a pain lol.

    • @llamaRCA
      @llamaRCA Рік тому +16

      @@shilohmc There is so much that goes into something like Heather or Lucien, yeah and it's a lot more than just getting dialogue lines into the ck. It's a big undertaking. Pushing through to get things released in a polished and playable state is one of the hardest things to do and I often think, "oof, will I ever get this done?" but you just keep plugging away at it and you get there.

    I agree re: wanting to hear the 'authentic' voice. I can't imagine anyone else doing Heather. She just seems like a real person, out there, somewhere in the multiverse. Distant in time and space, but solid and genuine. The quirks of Llama's voice add to the personality, the immersion.

    • @shilohmc
      @shilohmc  Рік тому +2

      The best part is that it is really hard to copy someones "authentic voice" so it makes it truly unique. Thats why so many people can do the Stewie voice but almost no one can do Brian from Family Guy. Thanks for taking time to leave comments Brett!

    Literally tried messaging Llamarca on nexus just now but it didnt let me so I searched and found this. I wanted to thank her for Willow. Years of games, hundreds and hundreds of mods and none of them compare to Willow. And Im guessing from the comments here that Llama is indeed thinking of making a companion for Starfield?
    Which is all I needed to know. If Starfield is gonna be as vast as Bethesda is claiming, I can not fathom playing it without a companion like Willow. But it does look very very promising. Im really liking the large amount of customization theyre saying is gonna be possible. And if someone figures out how to make Serenity from Firefly in the game and if you decide to make a companion mod, then Starfield will be perfect for me lmao

  • @nighturnal9708
    @nighturnal9708 Рік тому +4

    The first Fallout 4 mod I got was so I could have Dogmeat and another companion if I choose to do so. I usually don't use companions. Most do not like my actions in game or similar to Skyrim they might not match my playstyle or build. I try them all. But even my favorite companions I rarely use because I feel like I have to be playing a character that matches best what that companion prefers you to be acting like.
    The Junk Jet weapon shoots teddy bears and other junk items. Thank you for this wonderful interview. And yes sometimes you can tell Nate and Nora are saying Yes to a quest but it sometimes sounds like they are reluctantly saying yes. Just like we as the player, because we know the quest is being forced on us. Even when getting Cait to like us we have to say no to helping people, yet even when we turn things down the quest is still given to us. It's not just Preston.

    • @shilohmc
      @shilohmc  Рік тому

      That is a good point, I like hearing what my companions say but I like going at missions solo because it's to much of a benefit to have a meat-shield like that unless I download a hardcore mod. I also find my self changing my choices depending on who my companion is at the time. It would be nice to be able to shut down people giving us quest we want nothing to do with, more choice the more believable. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

    It’s been a few years since I played BOTW but for me personally duping weapons made the game much more enjoyable because they break after only a handful of hits.
    I don’t remember the exact process of doing it. Only that it involved using the weapon displays in your player home and you’d know it worked when Link appeared bald in your inventory.

    I played with Willow for i don't even know how many hours (400+) so at first it was hard adjusting to Heather and even hearing her swear (as i do not think Willow swears but i did play NV last time like a year ago so i may misremember) was kinda well not shocking but it did feel strange. Having basically the same voice but different person after so many hours (and romancing her). What helps is Willow had MASSIVE mammaries while Heather is slim with nice thighs (donno which mods affect them in what way nor how they supposed to look like but those ware my versions). So i guess that will help make a gap between those characters. Still Miss LlamaRCA did provide many hundreds of hours of entertainment in NV so im sure Heather will be my mainstay mod too.

    Also just cause I cant resist commenting about it, I hate Fallout 4's main story because I dont want to play as a veteran who had a lawyer wife and whose kid has been kidnapped. I want to play as a character of my creation, or possibly as a self insertion. I dont have a kid, I definitely am not going to feel any sort of attachment to someone elses virtual one. I think something along those lines is pretty common for the general disdain of that games main plot.

    I don't think you'll ever make everyone happy with a minigame for lockpicking or hacking. I don't mind the Bethesda minigames. I actually liked how quick lockpicking was in Hogwarts Legacy; but in contrast a lot of people were frustrated with that game. For me, I disliked the 'pipe dream' style hacking in games like Bioshock. Seems like Starfield is doing a sequence of matching angles. I'll probably like that better than the 'Frogger' style seen in Mass Effect.

    I have played through all the Fallout 4 endings. I've played through the "good ending" the most (the good ending where you keep all factions alive, and friendly to you, except for the Institute). I get why people do not like the Brotherhood of Steel, but I personally am not bothered by Maxson. He's a great leader for the BoS. One can disagree with the ideology or dislike it and if one does, that makes perfect sense why you hate Maxson, because he imbodies the ideals which is why BoS soldiers admire him so much. I don't play through their entire story much because you have to destroy the Underground. If it wasn't for that, I'd play BoS more. There's a way around that but it's annoying to avoid that specific line when it's easier to play with the Minutemen. There's also the want to have Danse around, and if you do, BoS will attack on sight. Anyway, enjoyed the conversation about modding.

      Yes, that was an issue not having cleaner options for keeping the factions around at the end of the game. That also compounded the problem more because of the narrated protagonist. If you can make your characters background, maybe it would make more sense to bomb the hell out of everything that isn't the BOS. Thanks for the comment!

    Fallout 4 could be made so much better by Bethesda paying Nether to port his Skyrim Follower Framework to Fallout 4.

      Agreed. I have to give credit for Bethesda though, for engaging with the modding community more than most, but they have a whole resource at their disposal and it really could usher in a better form of modders and studio cooperation I think.

    man... starfield didnt turn out to be as good as we wanted huh. to hear you guys talk about it so highly is sad haha, maybe with patches?

    A shame Starfield was such a big disappointment, with every planet almost looked the same, same architecture, same monsters and even the same plants everywhere. Exploring got pointless very fast there. I play F4 and also FNV instead, which are much funnier.

    You two are fun to listen to but I got to say - if you have a strong stomach - look up Black Salv remedy. One person had her face slide off. Its not innocent its a refernce to lies and horror. IUt says a lot that you assosiate this with politics.
    13:51 I saw a comic of someone who was all BoS until Cvrie became a synth and suddenly they were like "Adios guys, Im off to hang out with a synth." I wonder how many people did that exact thing.
    How about you have the player sitting at a picknick table - they can have their head down in their arms after some big loss and the scene starts with Heather sitting down across and touching their hand/arm?
    I like Heather's comment about the bouncing car. I use a mod specificly to stop the stupid oneshots from parked cars.
    Piper explains she is trying to stay away from her sister so she will "Cool off" and not try to be like her. I just had that dialog actually. I told her family is precious and you just have to love them when you have the chance. Like Nick/Strong/Etc Ive gotten a line from Piper about going home when I dismiss her so I just rationalize it as her being able to.
    59:45 Have you considered your a synth? Trained up like in Demolition Man?
    Startrek Online you used to be able to make missions. So many amazing stories.

      Ya I have heard about the main character being a synth and it makes total sense, him being able to kill everything. I also heard that the crows are synth spies too. There is a lot of cool Fallout conspiracy theories floating around. Thank you for listening to the conversation and commenting I appreciate it!

      Good companions are so rare. It takes good modding, writing, acting and patience. I absolutely agree with you.
