    I love Kuala Lumpur - my wife grew up in Kuala Lumpur. I am a 72 year old widower now. I plan to move to Bangkok before the end of the year. I have to sort through 50 years of things we collected during our marriage. And visit my relatives before I leave.l

    I'm in Hua Hin now. I plan to move here from Jomtien when my lease expires. The beach is quieter (behind hospital and naval station), sidewalks more walkable, fewer motorbikes and cars, less bar centric. Enjoy your transition

    Very thorough report; excellent! I too am from Virginia and am planning to move to Thailand for at least a year early next year! That means selling my house, my furniture and my car. Like you, I have a generous source of dividend income that I won’t need to touch as I can rely on my SS alone. I’m really excited about the move and look forward to your condo reviews until I’m ready to take the leap!

    I'm glad to hear your hospital visit went well. And it's true about how much care you will find at these Thailand Hospital. I've had MRIs and full chest ultrasounds and forgot about the price savings, I'd much rather deal with the Thai staff. By the way, Epipen in the USA is around 700 dollars, while about 68 dollars in thailand👍

    Great update Michael. Having my own healthcare scare myself that has further delayed my plans to "Retire to Asia". Two montha ago I suffered a hypertension episode with a skyrocketing blood pressure and heart rate knocked me flat for a couple weeks. Finally schedueled a cardiologist and a neurologist through insurance to take a look at my heart and brain. My vision was bad before, but now my Peripheral vision is much worse. I have a large blind spot now at 11 O'Clock. Love your passive income discussion. I've built the perverbial three legged financial stool. Soon to turn 63 and I have a pension, dividends, and social security all working. I'm a fan of exchange traded funds paying a monthly dividend. JEPQ, and DIVO to name a few. My nest egg at Charles Schwab is small at only $320k, but pays me almost $1,800 a month (before taxes 😕 ).

    • @RetiringToAsia
      @RetiringToAsia  2 місяці тому +1

      Oh wow. Sorry to hear you're having health issues. Sounds like you've got your finances in order. I have some JEPI that pays monthly. I was having stress and BP issues before I moved but at that exam my bp was well withing normal range and my heart rate is way down too.

I mean there are some bottom feeders out there doing Thai Video and even though I've told YT to "not recommend" they keep popping up. They are negative about Thailand and only vlog Transphobic content or slightly but not reportable racist things. Keep up the info, I learn something each time. Love the flies all over the food every where you go. It was hard for me to get past that. I was there recently and while driving down the street, saw a truck with meat piled high in a 100 degree heat, flies laying on top of the uncovered raw meat, as it headed to its local restaurant deliveries. The Thai people must have that protected gut bacteria from years of eating the street food
