Kinda similar with AMD Gpu drivers, they make good products, but they tend to take their time to make the software level work correctly, got both 4k pcie cards from Elgato and Avermedia (4k 60 pro mk2 & live gamer 4K) and for recording quality hands down avermedia wins, but since Elgato software is just well made and more flexible (flashback recording, multi app, streamdeck integration), its the better choice for streaming in general.

I was so hyped I remember you saying in your streams for the last couple weeks don't buy a go XLR yet and I knew something new was coming out soon I just wish it was something that was worth waiting for. I'm so glad to see companies trying to make a product that surpasses the go XLR not just matching it but a product that doesn't function is as much good as a product that doesn't exist. I would pay a licensing fee just to have a virtual software like elgato's mic software but that works with all microphones. Something more feature-rich than voice meter banana that would be a good stepping stone between that and a go XLR. I would even pay the elgato tax for them to release a competitor hardware product. I'm so disappointed in avermedia because they genuinely had the opportunity to release a one of a kind sensational product, and then they cheaped out in all the areas that actually matter.
This. This is my new favorite stream device. Great as is imo but like you said, potential is crazy high. This plus a Fethead is still cheaper than a full-size GoXLR which at least deals with the preamp part...but yeah woulda been nice to see something better in there.

thanks for your information and warning about the new and interesting device of Avermedia. I didn´t notice it on the market until this video. Was a nice Idea to replace my Behringer Xenyx X1832USB to a smaller and good/interesting device, but with those issues it had to be on halt for the next time.
Avermedia should have used the money from the touchscreen and put it into the audio components. For the cost of this, you can get a GoXLR Mini and a Stream Deck and be set for a very long time.
As a potential customer, the thought that someone up top decided that the state of that software and gain performance is acceptable, annoys me... especially for its price. Thank you for the honest review.
When switched from a UX2 audio interface which I only got for pod farm software. I never expected an audio interface to ever power a mic enough to be usable live. So when I swapped to a new audio interface and wanted hardware gain I bought a DBX 286s. So instead of "no option, completely unusable" I know that you could just plug mic into a DBX 286s pre amp processor then run a line out into any audio interface or mixer.
I've found relying on these types of all-in-one devices to be a real pitfall. I have a dedicated audio interface for my XLR mic, a stream deck for...well stream deck related things, and a Korg Nano Kontrol 2 MIDI Fader that when used with a program like Power Mixer (overrides your built-in Windows mixer and allows you to "keybind" faders/keystrokes to turning up/down/ext specific programs) and VoiceMeeter can be fully utilized to control ALL the audio ins and outs of your PC. Getting a specific device to handle each specific task is way better than hoping that one device will do all those things perfectly.
I feel like with AVer the initial product is always just a slight miss, but they do end up fixing a lot of issues fairly quickly. The preamp issue is a complete miss and Im not sure how that got past QA. Maybe they were going for the Apple play only in our ecosystem approach?
Also the other notice it's not just an XLR input.. it's a combo input.. You can also fit a 1/4" plug in there.. Which is valuable coz I was lookin at wireless lav mics and none of them have an XLR plug, what most of them DO have is a 1/4" plug stickin out of the receiver, which may need to be plugged into a small cord but.. yeah. I dunno for me personally-- I'm starting to think that the big mic in your face thing might not be for me. I feel claustrophobic trying to game with this big thing in my face and have to avoid hitting it when I get up and stuff. I'm thinking a lav mic might be better, but the GoXLR and Wave XLR both have just straight XLR inputs (it's not a combo jack) so that wouldn't work without a small extension cable but when it comes to audio every added connection in the audio signal brings noise and potential nightmares.
It's not for everyone, but ever think about doing a series on an analog audio setup? Pre-Amps, Mixers, Compressors, Power Conditioners, rack mounts, and shit? Or does anyone know a channel that is as good as this/epos/podcastage that covers that kind of "streaming" gear? I feel like someone who goes so hard to get peeps off the webcam bandwagon might also do the same for the audio side of things
I’m an odd duck since I use a Mac as a stream PC and everything was fine for me up until you mentioned the preamps. It’s a bummer, but I appreciate your saving me $350!
I bought the GoXLR until I realized that there is no macOS support. Went with Rode Pod Mic -> Cloudlifter -> dbx286s -> dbx131s -> Focusrite Scarlet 18i20 Gen 3 and the Icon Platform M+. I'm happy now. :) AVerMedia's software is always been meh.
What's your favorite streaming device? And which one would you love to see upgraded this year?
I want something like this or a GoXLR Mini that has two XLR inputs.
My GoXLR is my fav. Make the GoXLR even better and I'd buy it.
I still prefer the XLRGo. Yes it's expensive but it's still more beautiful and user friendly in my opinion

Great video. Seems to me that the ONLY reason to make the gain operate in such a narrow range is so you have to use their microphones.
Can u please go over what time of day u stream? I cant find a schedule on UA-cam
this is dope man thank you
I've found relying on these types of all-in-one devices to be a real pitfall.
Maybe they were going for the Apple play only in our ecosystem approach?
yeah im p sure thats it i was thinking the same thing
Please keep us updated
Holy shit i allmost bought this one without any research. THANK YOU for sharing this video!
Dude that was impressive teach me the ways of the force.
Thanks for your input, helps out
ive always been a big fan of AVerMedia stuff. ive had their capture cards for a while.
Almost bought it and the goxlr is just crazy expensive... guess imma just run the cheap audio route. Thanks brutha! Aloha!
Love your honest reviews
It's not for everyone, but ever think about doing a series on an analog audio setup? Pre-Amps, Mixers, Compressors, Power Conditioners, rack mounts, and shit? Or does anyone know a channel that is as good as this/epos/podcastage that covers that kind of "streaming" gear? I feel like someone who goes so hard to get peeps off the webcam bandwagon might also do the same for the audio side of things
one day there will be a GoXLR that'll cost 50 bucks and then I can get it
^ yes
Thanks for everything you do for us!
I’m an odd duck since I use a Mac as a stream PC and everything was fine for me up until you mentioned the preamps. It’s a bummer, but I appreciate your saving me $350!
The fact their software has Mac support vs GoXLR only working on Windows makes this a winner for me already.
That's too bad. I have a Blue Spark and was looking for an interface . Looks like GoXLR is the winner .
I respect Harris's, hustle
That PLASTIC would've stayed on for as long as possible LOL
