    I hit 100 subs a few days ago on my twitch after 6 months of streaming. And I slowly improved my stream by following your tips. I don’t even have a camera, that’s some stuff for the future and I’m really excited! It is crazy how many people come into the stream and ask questions about things, you always talk about and I assume as normal. Thank you Harris, keep it up. I will for sure, I’m excited to start using all of your camera tips in the future!

    I know you talk a lot about Streamers branching out into UA-cam to grow but what are your thoughts on UA-camrs branching out into streaming? One of my hardest decisions is deciding if I diversify to Twitch or stream on UA-cam with the audience I've already cultivated.

      You have a massive following on youtube already and twitch is such a mess right now, I'd stream on youtube but diversify with twitter, instagram or tiktok so incase youtube goes down your fans can still find you. (I'm not as big as you so maybe I'm wrong tho)

      I thought youtube doesn't lock you in. As long as you're not an affiliate on Twitch you can simulcast it and build on both. I can't remember who but someone did a video on this very question and that was basically what can't of it. You have the opportunity to grow faster with exposure across multiple platforms and you'll likely direct all of them to your UA-cam at some point for videos which means if there's a power shift in streaming you will not only have grown faster, but be able to transition easier. Hope that helps

    • @BaxInAction
      @BaxInAction 3 роки тому

      @@rexsus1gaming156 everything I see about multistreaming is it's bad in the long run, this person already has a massive audience and would probably benefit more from direct interactions with their community right here instead of trying to convert roughly 10% to another platform. diversify on social media, twitch is bad anyways. I'd switch away if my content wasn't so different here

    You made some very good points on where to spend money and where not to until you are making something on your venture. You made a difference in my approach, which I am not a Streamer or anything with Video. I am a Blogger, but the concept is still the same. I want to add a video to my blog, but I am just at the beginning stage and do not need anything more than what I have. Eventualy I will add other things, but for now not adding things I do not need is a good idea. If I do anything it will be on increasing my writing skill set. Thanks for your suggestion in this video it was very impactful for me.

    4:27 my favourite part thanks Harris
    I've recently purchased the Shure sm7B and could have easily gone for the podmic but I had enough money to choose from both and have plenty of time to upgrade to a camera later, although I haven't watched the video all the way through yet I think that audio is very important as it's the most noticeable thing and camera quality can easily be changed from greenscreen and good lighting, being a person who loves the sound industry in music I love the warm bass from this microphone and can hear so much of a different in comparison to a yeti mic

    • @donaldendsley6199
      @donaldendsley6199 3 роки тому +1

      Good Quality audio is essential. the point he's making is that for similar money you can get the cheaper mic + invest in some education so that you can make a cheaper mic sound better, then when you are ready to upgrade you have the knowledge to make that mic sound even better. It's applied knowledge not gear that makes someone great. It's the basic economic principle "Invest in yourself first."

    • @2EpicGaming
      @2EpicGaming 3 роки тому

      @@donaldendsley6199 yes, I do agree as I finished watching the video, but if you're doing it as a hobby the principle still stands that you can have fun and doesn't even matter what you have but rather who has it and knows how to use it, I only got a better mic as I'm not making money but by the time I am I don't need to make a finical bust

    Editing you're own videos is essential at least in the beginning, For UA-cam you're developing your own style and hiring an editor from the jump would steal the opportunity to learn from that experience.

    I know your videos are geared towards game streamers, but as a Twitch DJ, they are great for me too. Thanks Harris. I’m a hobbyist, with a great job, giving me the option to splurge every once in a while. I still use a budget capture though, thanks to your video on that. Biggest splurge was a Canon m200 and a used Blue Yeti, definitely gives the professional look and sound. DJ_IAm

    Great video. I fall into the hobbyist and $$$ category. I have the elgato lights, 4k60Pro, streamdeck XL, GoXLR, Shure MV7X, 2 PC setup, etc, etc. around 8k in gear and computers easy. I'm a full time remote software Dev though, and make good money. I don't push hard though, I just love tech and I like streaming for fun. Only 16 followers for now on Twitch, but I don't even advertise or post anything to Social Media, I just hop on, have fun regardless if anyone watches. One day, I want to get to the point that I am streaming to teach coding or something, but in the meantime, I am happy with just having fun, playing some games, and not even worrying about the fact I have all this gear and spent this much money over the last couple of years without making any return monetarily. My thing is, it provides enjoyment to me and happiness, and that is worth more than any amount I could make by getting large. I still love watching your videos though and learning things here and there. Keep up the great work! I know many will say its completely overkill to have basically what the large streamers have and not go full ham at it, but at 31 years old, I've learned happiness and having fun is worth more than any money one could get from stuff like this. I guess having a good job helps too because I don't have to worry about money in that regard to make a living at it.

    For me, the best investment I made was buying a Shure MV7 which improved my sound quality 1000%. The next thing I did was buy a RodeCaster Pro, which for me as I transitioned from streamer to Podcaster, was a huge investment in saving me time for post-production audio processing (savi. The last upgrade was my Sony A5100. Luckily a couple of weeks ago Best Buy got some back in stock and I was able to get one.
    Never be afraid to bet on yourself but like Harris is advising you can have $1500 worth of equipment but if you do not invest in creating good content then what do you really have? What is successful for someone else may not necessarily be for you but you can take their blueprint and modify it to work in a way that's best for you.
    Big fan and I am studying your blueprint but at the same time creating my own lane!

It also could be sponsored series as well by for example: Elegato or any organization whose products/services are related to streaming. thought of it and decided to just write it in a comment. This might be weird but my MAIN problem, is SPACE. I need a space where I'm alone and I can communicate through the camera without always being aware of other people passing by or just casually hearing what i'm saying. I need a space I can set up so it is always ready: nice backdrop, lights, camera etc. At the moment I don't have a dedicated room for streaming or recording videos, and Im doing it from my living room. I live in a 60m2 apartment with 2 rooms: bedroom and kitchen/living room. I'm forced to be more focused on WHEN I can make videos than on HOW to make them. I'm super aware of how much time I am keeping the living room occupied, so I would rush trhough videos, so that the other people in the house don't feel pushed out of the common room. I think that's the most stressful thing, and, thinking about it, it is probably the most important reason why I'm "stuck". Space and freedom go hand in hand: spend LESS for your cameras (use ur phone, it's probably a great camera already) and invest that money in a larger house with a room for YOUR PASSION, where you can be alone with it.

    I’ve been following ya for awhile now, but mainly been on UA-cam vs Twitch.
    Maybe it’s because of UA-cam’s dumb discovery, or Bc I’m kind of a variety streamer/video creator. (I also worked in video production/editing/directing for the last 7 years)
    But I seem to be stuck in a rut with the same people showing up but no one new coming in.
    I’ve began using social media more, but not too sure what to do besides that.

      It's not bcs of "UA-cam's dump discovery or variety". I haven't watched a Single Video of you yet and can already see why it isn't working. Your Thumbnails are shit. (Sorry but i think being honest is more helpful) Variety isn't destroying a Channel in my opinion. It CAN but if it does, i think you make something wrong. I don't know if you're using a Webcam yet. If not -> Definitely get one! Gamechanger, really. If you do -> Thumbnail! It seems like you are using the type of Thumbnails 2012 were used. They are boring and can't ever compete with the newer ones.
      Hope i could help you a bit.

      @@SunniRaimei yeah I’ve been trying to make my thumbnails better on videos recently. Photoshop isn’t my expertise though.
      Even editing was a pain till recently when I got a lot more time on my hand. (I was working
      I do got a webcam tho. Exploring possibilities of how I can record my webcam and content at the same time and stream.
      But idk if there’s any computer strong enough to do that And I don’t have the room for a 2 pc set up. (I was working a lot of 11 days in a row stretches and had about 5 days off a month at times)

    Overlay suggestion for Own3d:
    white/light background with bright colors.
    I was looking to get a stream-package from own3d, but I'm looking for a cozy/chill vibe with a light/bright theme. I don't feel like any packages from own3d falls into that category. Nearly all of them feature a black or dark colored background with red/blue/purple highlights/accents. They look cool, don't get me wrong but nearly all of them have like a generic gamer-y feel to them. I definitely think there is a market and an audience for brighter, lighter themed packages. I don't know if you have any say or input with own3d, but considering you have your own package I imagine you have at least some say in what they make. If you even bothered to read this: thank you, I'm huge fan of your content!

    I’m fortunate to have a job that allows me to safely buy an upgrade here and there if I want to but trust me when I say having the best doesn’t make you the best! You still need to put in work if that’s the goal :) my subscribers didn’t change once I added a GOXLR or shure SM7B to the setup but my happiness did!

    I am curious in the editor portion. Luckily I have the ability to invest more into myself and looking for outside assistance in editing and creativity. While I have used fiverr in the past for graphic stuff the editing process seems like it may be more geared to repeat needs. So my question is do you have a recommended source for finding said editors that you have had good experiences with if different than Fiverr?
