I'm a high school student in new Zealand and I'm saving up for a better mic because they are very expensive to get here my current one is a cheap one of Amazon but it sounds all right after following your guide to reaper plugins video thanks for the help 😊
I'll stick to my full GOXLR. Imo it is still a solid piece of kit. The only time I had an issue with it was when I first got it and the bugs got fixed quickly and TC Helicon Support was great.
Same. I have Full GoXLR with the SM7B. I had an issue with mine where I put custom text on the LCD screen that was too long and it literally flipped the image and inverted the background color by itself. Super annoying and then long story short, it messed up more stuff when trying to fix it. I turned off the GoXLR and turned it back on(I turned my surge protector off/on) and it fixed it once I powered GoXLR + PC. There’s another issue I had which is my cell antenna in my iPhone XR, when next to the GoXLR or any other cable, it would make a constant buzzing thumping sound. Example, I put my phone touching the GoXLR and then tap the screen to wake it up, it would make a very loud 4x thumping sound, after it would make a constant buzzing thumping sound but not as loud. Figured out the problem was my cell antenna in the phone was the issue and that turning off the phone obviously fixed it or turning on Airplane Mode which disabled the cell antenna in it and it stopped that way too.
I feel like the GoXLR is what everyone keeps going back to compare new gear. And there are some that come close or better for specific cases, but the fact that we keep comparing to something that is no longer “new”. Looking forward to what’s to come in the next year or two, I have a feeling a new champion might be coming.
if Astro was never bought by Logitech, they probably would have released a dope mixer. The astro mixamp was/is already used by tons of creators due to its capabilities. With these new products, its been passed up very quickly and looks so outdated now.
There is not much choice if there isn’t many other options out there that’s as close to this as the GoXLR. Plus you always want to compete against the superstars to see if they’ve outshined the old and most of the time they don’t. Which is why he’s even using a Shure SM7B, a 21 year old bad ass
This feels like a really great starting point for this device. The bones and guts are definitely note worthy. I think that once Razer watches all these reviews they can make all the adjustments in Synapse and have a next level product
But...they've had 3+ years to learn from goxlr and basically ripped off the design and function. The software needed to be FIRE for this product to actually be relevant, especially given the higher price point. Trusting razer to make the software side better is a gamble I wouldn't personally take.
Yeah, I do have issues with Synapse every once in awhile but nothing really experience breaking for me. I'd hope that with a product like this that's deep in Synapse functionality they'd throw more resources at it. Time will tell
Adding this as a helpful tip since it was a point of contention: you can go into Effects and set separate profiles for various effects settings (monster, Gollum, clown) and then save a combo keypress for each profile. Triggering the effects that way is immediate, no losing that moment. And, you get many versions.
Just a heads up for everyone for an issue I encountered that had a very easy fix but my mind went to much complicated places to resolve lol. Plugging my headset into the front headset port, I noticed the volume was extremely low even with the sound levels adjusted to 100 in every possible place I could think of. I changed the USB port I used on the back of my PC to another port and everything was back to normal, could hear everything loud and clear. I almost returned this product from the frustration I felt trying to figure out why the volume was so low =(. Hope this helps someone out there dealing with that problem.
Yo I'm having this problem and I'm losing my fucking mind trying to figure it out. No one else seems to have this issue, I can't find anything on Google about it. I'll try a different port, thank you so much!
Interesting comparison. But please, mute your background music when recording different interfaces, it's almost impossible to determine a difference in quality when you have the music running in the background.
What I have learned from this video, the Razer RGB Key Light video, and my own personal experience with Razer products (I love my DeathAdder mouse still) is that Razer needs to put together a serious development team for their software. Synapse needs a major overhaul and needs to be uniform across all devices. When you add a new Razer product it should just load the needed module for that given product and all the Razer products should be getting along fine within the single app without any hassle.
Sm7b, into Scarlett 4i4, then into Reaper. I use "Loopback" to get apps/programs onto individual tracks into Reaper, and also to get to Reaper audio out to OBS. The routing options are endless. Don't think I could ask for more at the moment, but that always changes ;) Thanks for everything Harris!
@@BudWilson13 Loopback is a “virtual interface” Within its software, you can decide what programs you want it to look for. Then in Reaper, select what you have created in Loopback, as your interface. This will allow you to create tracks, and decide what program or whatever you would like to have on each one. In Loopback I also create a virtual device called “OBS output”. This will add a secondary virtual stereo output, that you can send a custom mix to. In OBS, set mic/input to “OBS output”. I hope some of that helped, what a messy description, haha. Let me know if you need me to clarify :)
For that price, you'd have expected some proper good QA but that just seems to not happen and seems to be a regular occurrence now with Razer's software. Plus considering there is better and cheaper alternatives it doesn't bode well
I noticed that the voice changer settings might be able to be mapped as a macro for other Razer devices. Not saying it would work that way, but certainly easier than holding the mute button for two seconds. By the way, bought the BEACN Mix Create solely on your videos about it. Never been happier.
I think the key shifting and the vocal fader could be used in some edge cases. Like using a radio or some other audio device as line in for karaoke or something? I dunno. But, maybe!
Tried this product and immediately returned it. It played havoc with all of my other audio settings. Highly suggest getting a mixer that is not software dependent!
i agree. i dont have it, nor do i know anyone who has it. HOWEVER. Harris Heller once said that streambeats is the best copyright free music that I could use for my livestreams and youtube videos and that was true, therefore, I trust in and agree with Harris Heller.
If this had hold and toggle mute on the microphone channel it would open up the voice effects to have its own dedicated button, maybe 2-3 small buttons so it's not as clunky, added more voice effects, integrated submixes, and cleaned up the software a bit for more customizability, this would've been a 10/10 product especially due to its more compact design.
The fact that out of the box you can pass your mic to two computers is a nice feature. It seems like to me that the stuff that is lacking could be solved with a software update (hopefully). Maybe it will age like fine wine?
If I gave up on my GoXLR, I’d do a Beacn Mix/Create and a Scarlett Solo before I did this. Seems clunky having to bounce around in Synapse, definitely clipped, and the voice changer seems super janky.
Razer really needs to find and collaborate with audio professionals. Crinacle's recent video and review of some of their gaming headsets really makes me believe they're just trying to be the best without getting the right people involved. It would be so cool to see Razer excel like they have in the past few years with their peripherals, mainly mice.
the light and mixer from Razer arent as good and I'll still probably stick with elgato for now but I'm so glad Elgato finally have some real competition in the streamer space. hopefully this will get both companies to improve their products in the future. maybe we'll even see some new contenders in the space.
As a razer fanboy I’ve been very disappointed in the key light an this mixer. I had high hope for this product but I’m probably going to just have to wait an hope they fix synapse an go on sale or get the goxlr or wave mic
Been using Razer for over 6 years now. Synapse has always been trash. I don't think they'll ever fix the software even though it's almost always the issue with any of their products
DUDE, those pops and clicks were the EXACT same as the HD Ripsaw from Razer that I reviewed! It's like they mixed bad technology with known technology, marked it up, and hoped nobody would notice.
i like the review even more that i'm looking for one of those mixer and i think it would be great to see those review with also cheaper mic like a lot of small streamer probably buy when they begin streaming just to see how good the audio processing is. anyways, your video are always good help when i'm looking for tech stuff
I'll give Razer an A for effort. As you said, presentation was spot on. Looks good. Cleaner profile than my GoXLR Mini and I actually like the bigger mute and bleep buttons. But for years Razer has been plagued by their really crappy Synapse software. I barely trust it to do things with one of my mice, let alone complicated audio routing and mixing. That's like asking a child to build the next space shuttle LOL. If they only put as time and effort into a complete overhaul of Synapse as they do with their other products, they might have had a homerun here.
In Germany you can get the Go XLR Mini for 100€ less than the Razer Mixer and you pay 80€ more and get the full size Go XLR. The Go XLRs software also seems to make more sense and that you can't monitor yourself really is a dealbreaker.
lot's of mobo's include optical so you can use it to split game voice really nicely! one of the reason's I used the Astro Mixamp for so long but I have since moved on to nicer headphones.
I’m surprised they made this but have yet to make an xlr mic. I feel most companies make products to work with their other products. TC Helicon even has a GOXLR mic and a whole series set. Kind of a slap on the face to the hardcore Razer fans out there
Best comment so far they dropped a mixer that can’t use their usb mics without adding a additional cable and can’t use their own wireless headsets I gotta return the I bought tomorrow waste of money that doesn’t work with any of my Razer products
@@RobskateTTV I love razer. Honestly I do. Especially their mercury series. But goddamn are they a hella money grab at this point. It’s like they are trying to compete against companies out of their league and doing too many copycats. Have you seen their version of the Loupedeck Live? It’s just a rebrand
I think the Key Shifter function is targeted at the Asian market so that they can do key change for their karaoke sessions via the line input. Probably using like a tablet or something for playback. Doesn't make sense for the majority but I think it might make more sense for the Taiwan/China or South East Asian market since Razer's market is pretty big in Asia
Razer did exactly what they have become known to do. make something lesser and charge more for it and rely or hard core fans of the brand to keep them from going belly up.
I have the GOXLR and Rode Procaster. Love the sound quality of it but if I had to decide between the beacon set up you displayed before and this one…. I’d go beacon
Anyone who has watched my channel knows that I love my Razer products so this is really not coming from a place malice but Razer did this one before in the steaming space with the Razer Ripsaw. They made an exact copy of an existing steaming tool in this case it was the Aver Media Live Gamer Pro for around the same price. There software support was so bad for it that it single handedly got me to use OBS. The worse part is when it comes to there headsets they are miles ahead of anyone else when it comes to mic setting. With updates this could be great but much like you said there is no reason to buy one if you have a Go XLR Mini.
I literally just want a go xlr with sub mixes and possibly a more remastered design and possibly one more xlr input for possible use for podcast for 2 and you have one of the best selling xlr mixes/streaming product on the planet for years. I don't think there has been one. Of course you can argue there are better products but they don't have the same inputs/outputs. a pink and green port plus xlr is extremely huge for people
Yeah this thing looks good but it needs a couple updates. Hopefully the voice mods can just get an eq or a redo because what’s there is pretty terrible. You can tell more effort went into the led lights than the voice and background mods.
i love my AVermedia Live Streamer nexus for the Audience Mix that is under Line Out under Settings then Output Defaults to Audience Mix but there is also Chat Mic or Creator Mx i keep it on Audience Mix
I really need a company to make a GoXlr clone but ditch the optical digital audio for for HDMI passthrough/ audio extractor for my PS5. It would be nice to remove the extra box/cables from under my desk just to extract audio to go into my GoXlr.
I was wondering if you can do and in depth tutorial on building an dual system pc. I noticed you built one exactly how I’m trying to build mines. One thing I really need help is post build getting all sound and everything to work with both systems. Gaming and streaming.
ever since the GoXLR was released, all of these other companies tried to jump on and make a version like the GoXLR. While some have some nice little changes, there are always some kind of flaw to them. Not to say the GoXLR also has some flaws. But it still stands as one of the best audio boards for streaming out there. I can't see myself going away from the full GoXLR anytime soon.
@Derek Hall if they do that, I may decide to upgrade. But then again, I would have to sell my GoXLR and idk if I want to do that. I still enjoy it so much
I wish more review type videos just stated the price near the start of the video, I'm gonna watch either way but it would remove some of the disappointment
It looks cool, but Razer better be ready to drop that price by a large margin if they want to compete with the GoXLR Mini (the GoXLR Mini on Amazon is $45 cheaper at the time of writing). Razer's software is notoriously buggy and unoptimized, so they better have an incredible bit of software if they want us to pay extra for essentially the same product.
Crazy how elgato will destroy all this new tech with a stream deck that has knobs or faders. I'll be waiting patiently elgato.
2 роки тому
I have the Loupedeck, StreamDeck and Touch Portal. And those knobs on the Loupedeck is enough for me to have the StreamDeck unplugged. Another option is to use a PC Panel, but even with the right software, that device is missing the LCD screens, and the RGB is just not a good enough status indicator.
Number one reason i would probably choose this over the Go XLR is the Tech support for TC helicon is absolutely atrocious if you have a warranty issue. Razer being a big brand i feel would be really easy to have warranty concerns with. Also I'm sure more stores would stock this being a name brand instead of the the go xlr.
You would think that but good luck getting a mouse that scroll wheel went defective in a year replaced. That's why their mice are so cheap. Compared to the competition their products are overpriced garbage. Back in the early days it was a duopoly between Logitech and Razer. Steelseries didn't show up until much later.
I know the video is almost one year old, but I just looked up prices for XLR Interface and the GoXLR mini the price skyrocked close to 500$ CND on Amazon I would consider the razer for beind less then 300$ but some features makes the goXLR mini worth the price
seems like for most people an elgato Wave XLR and a Stream Deck(of any size) would be easier and a better setup than this thing unless they iron out the software and make some changes to the weird thing you've pointed out.
Love your content! It's a huge help. I would love a video on mics for female voices. I've found that the mics that work great for my husband's voice dont work very well for mine.
It looks like the GoXLR mini in form but the GoXLR line has the Midas preamp so it's very hard to compete with at the price. GoXLR mini sounded great, Razer's sounded decent but you said it best when saying "lacking" and with the random pops I can't see this as an alternative. I wouldn't trust Razer's hardware for something this important. It would have to cost
I wonder if I could use this just for controlling dynamics and expression in virtual instruments since the faders look long enough and it would be a lot cheaper than many faders out there that are the same size.
Really love your video's ma dude, but could you please (next time) cut off the music you have in the background. Don't see the reason why i want to hear a music when you are testing the amp/mic
I added the pcpanel to the wave xlr and I really love that setup. I know its sucks to spend another 100 bucks but I stream alot and love the wavelink software and just needed the sliders and now I got them.
I feel like razer making a keylight isn't copying. These lights were around b4 elgato lol. Also audio mixers and audio interfaces were around b4 too. It's just them expanding their product line to meet the industry demand
So this is probably going to sound a like Im being rude, but I am asking in all honesty. Whats stopping you from launching an audio interface? Over the years Ive been watching the channel, Ive come to value your opinions on hardware and items, and I feel like you have a really solid knowledge base. So why not take that knowledge and us it to create an interface thats designed by streamers?
#1 reason to get the Razer over the goxlr mini, customer service support. I had a headphone port stop working on a goxlr a while back. I had to create an account just to open a ticket because calling or emailing wasn't an option. They responded with a tutorial for how to plug in a headphone to a headphone port as if I've never done it before. Then they closed to support ticket and marked it as solved so I couldn't reopen it or reply further. Never did get it resolved. One of the WORST customer service experiences I've ever had. Razer doesn't have a great track record with their software, but I'd deal with it before trying to deal with goxlr support ever again.
Hey harris oof topic question but do you have a video on using the medal gaming app for you clips. i wanted to ask in discord but it said i could not get in the channel
Let’s not forget razer synapse and all products are NOT compatible with mac if you use one for either pc. Might change with time as it’s the same as goxlr but there is home brew support for them at least.
I’ve had a go xlr mini… and had to get it replaced! The usb is awful and the connectivity with the main board and the connections crackle! Replacement is ok but I think another company really needs to 1up helicon go xlr ⬆️
I'm thinking that maybe the software they use must be a ver. 1.0.0 type of thing? Y'know, day 1 software releases tend to miss a few things that haven't finished baking? Idk, trying to give benefit of doubt ;o
i JUST bought an entire beacn setup and i have to say after one day i put the goxlr back on the desk. the beacn mic just sounds BAD to me and i can't explain why. almost hollow or metallic sounding to me. i wish the goxlr had a higher output headphone amp and the sub mix, or selectable outputs by holding a button. beacn integrates into the system so much better, shame it sounds bad.
What Mic/Audio system are you using right now on your stream? What features do you wish it had?

Razer did exactly what they have become known to do. make something lesser and charge more for it and rely or hard core fans of the brand to keep them from going belly up.
BIG FACTS. Well said.
Understood ever part of this. Big respect
So true. It's why when I buy Razer it's always for less than what they charge cause they charge $150 for a $75 USB mic .... In quality and feel.
Of course you can argue there are better products but they don't have the same inputs/outputs. a pink and green port plus xlr is extremely huge for people
Looks like the mute/route select is either muting the SOURCE for all routes vs just not having that source part of that route.
Yeah this thing looks good but it needs a couple updates.
Hopefully the voice mods can just get an eq or a redo because what’s there is pretty terrible.
You can tell more effort went into the led lights than the voice and background mods.
At 12:00 you were set to db by default it looks like at the top you can choose percent. Then it would have worked as you expected.
It's impossible to take a grown man seriously when he has painted fingernails and 2005 emo hair.
i love my AVermedia Live Streamer nexus for the Audience Mix that is under Line Out under Settings then Output Defaults to Audience Mix but there is also Chat Mic or Creator Mx i keep it on Audience Mix
I really need a company to make a GoXlr clone but ditch the optical digital audio for for HDMI passthrough/ audio extractor for my PS5. It would be nice to remove the extra box/cables from under my desk just to extract audio to go into my GoXlr.
The beacn still seems like the best option for this simple to use audio market.
I still enjoy it so much
While I think Beacn has the best hardware figured out, Elgato still beats them all with VST support.
I wish more review type videos just stated the price near the start of the video, I'm gonna watch either way but it would remove some of the disappointment
I got skillshare just yesterday. So now I see so many ads I could of learned
Not just legacy consoles. I use the astro splitter to hook my ps5 in the optical
Its much more expensive than the GoXLR
Thank you for the video and my question is does it work for iPhone live TikTok any tips!!
seems like for most people an elgato Wave XLR and a Stream Deck(of any size) would be easier and a better setup than this thing unless they iron out the software and make some changes to the weird thing you've pointed out.
Has that “ヘンタイ” always been there on the table? (In romaji for those who don’t know Japanese it’s hent$& 👀)
I thought about this too xD
It's like a classic he wanned it to say "senpai" but someone trolled him x)

Regardless if it's a sponsored video or not. There should be a link for the product in the description
Appreciate the honesty Harris
It's the little things like easy opening boxes 📦
But what I really want to know, can I plug the goxlr mini and this razor product into one pc and have 8 audio channels that have physical faders??
Really love your video's ma dude, but could you please (next time) cut off the music you have in the background. Don't see the reason why i want to hear a music when you are testing the amp/mic
Elgato need this. Think about it, that way you wouldn't have to click on the app to turn down the bar
I got rid of the wave xlr for this reason and got a goxlr. I will say the wave software is fantastic, just need better hardware.
I added the pcpanel to the wave xlr and I really love that setup. I know its sucks to spend another 100 bucks but I stream alot and love the wavelink software and just needed the sliders and now I got them.
would you review Fifine products, given their sudden popularity and affordability? Im on the fence to get started with those.
Hello Harris! This video was very useful for me, but could check out SteelSeries Sonar?
Did I miss something? what happened to the cool short room? Have I been watching Alpha Gaming out of order again?
From the thumbnail I thought you were sova for a sec XD
Razor software is the reason all my razor gear went from my desks to a box labeled "to sell".
Just skipped over that RGB lighting section sadge
never took you as a' paint your nails' kinda guy, honestly it looks good on you.
Hey harris oof topic question but do you have a video on using the medal gaming app for you clips. i wanted to ask in discord but it said i could not get in the channel
u should have turned on the phantom power might help with hearing yourself.
Dynamic mics don’t use phantom power
@@Senpai ah ok. I use a neumann tlm 103 for music recording so wasnt sure
@@Senpai but great video! 🙏🏽
@Alpha Gaming you look so good with nail polish!
One would assume since streambeats is free to use for livestreams and videos… one is aloud to use it for game design as well?
Does it work with MacBook? I bought the GOXLR and then realized it doesn’t work with Mac.
How do headphones work on the Razer one? Can you use any headphones connected to PC or only aux port in the device?
Presonus revelator io24 is already better than the goxlr imo, I love it
yeah, won't be adding this to my wish list. that software interface just looks like a pita to work with.
I'm guessing you might want key change on the line in for karaoke purposes.
I'm thinking that maybe the software they use must be a ver. 1.0.0 type of thing? Y'know, day 1 software releases tend to miss a few things that haven't finished baking? Idk, trying to give benefit of doubt ;o
*old man voice decades later*
"And they say he never heard from Razer again...."
i JUST bought an entire beacn setup and i have to say after one day i put the goxlr back on the desk. the beacn mic just sounds BAD to me and i can't explain why. almost hollow or metallic sounding to me. i wish the goxlr had a higher output headphone amp and the sub mix, or selectable outputs by holding a button. beacn integrates into the system so much better, shame it sounds bad.
Thanks Man! I’m having issues with my dual PC setup where my gameplay sound is playing like it is underwater on stream/record. Any tips to fix!?
I know everyone is giving opinions on this but I’m more intrigued by the hoodie 🤣 where did you get it or was it sent to you from youtube?
I've had several razer products bought over the years and almost all of it have issues. I've lost faith on this brand to be honest
anyone else's voice monitoring sound tinny on the wavexlr, coming from a focusrite solo its been really weird sounding
Honestly I’m just waiting for Elgato to release a fader that works with their XLR software
I wouldn't be surprised if TC-Helicon was the ODM for the Razer Mixer. Razer should have just copied the GoXLR software too.
