As someone who's played pet classes in every MMOs since 1999 when I was 6 years old. Please. Please dont have the pet class just be a glorified damage over time spell that is weak and undirectable without any skill expression or complexity.
Silkroad had amazing pet mechanics. Every class could have a pet and it leveled up independently and grew in size. You started with a wolf pup and it was larger than some buildings at the end and you could mount it.
I enjoyed hunter in classic wow a lot because the skill floor was insanely low, but the ceiling was also insanely high. Play on auto pilot or full sweat and you get value from it. Beyond that having to find a worthy pet and invest time in leveling it and teaching it things, training it etc. But being a skilled hunter should mean handling all sorts of animals and tracking/trapping them as well as breeding better and better hunting companions in order to fulfill the fantasy. Maybe even letting your companion grab your mail or run simple tasks could add that feeling of being a real and believable character in the world

Hey Narc, it's good to see that you have taken the previous advice I gave you and reflected on the style, format and nature of your content. In many ways, I think you should consider playing a Tulnar as it fits your story and personal background. The Tulnar are a big, scaly, cave dwelling and brutish race who survive and thrive on what they are given and nothing more. The underground, tight knit community you have built and are a part of fits well into the Tulnar mindset. Fighting corruption is also at the heart of the Tulnar ethos, a zeal which you have exemplified - granted, sometimes a little too much! If only to stroke your ego a little, I would be lying if I said that you weren't at least in part some of the inspiration for the Tulnar race. As a former Artisan Baker, you will understand when something is half baked and isn't ready. That is fine and shows a level of wisdom other races may not instinctively understand. But remember, if what you are cooking isn't ready, you leave it to cook and show a degree of patience and humility. Fight off the corruption in the meantime, wherever it might be. That is the Tulnar way.

I'm actually kind of excited for Summoner. It's role sounds similar to Summoners from FFXI. Using summons to support the party, do a bit of healing and occasionally doing some decent burst dps.

I really want this game to do well and be the next great MMO. There is just currently nothing that really stands out above the rest. The last great MMO was Archeage before Trion destroyed it with their greed and went full P2W. I'm really looking forwared to AoC and so far it's looking like the dev team are headed in the right direction.

But I still stand by what I said. There is nothing that stands out as a really great MMO, and I'm hoping that Ashes succeeds in that.
It's ridiculous that you complained about the lack of damage from a tank and a support class. You can generate threat without needing higher damage mechanically, and both tanks and supports should do far less damage than "Damage Dealers"... This is further highlighted by games like FFXIV where healers are expected to keep pace with DD's. No thank you.

Steven knows how to create hype and remind us how ambitious this project is, that's for sure. Honestly though, I do have hope that the game will be good though. I'm not really expecting much from the Alpha, it will probably be a buggy mess, but that is the whole point of the test anyways.
I love when tanks want more dps....it is like they never graduated 1st grade or something...Dude you chose to make a bullet sponge for your character type, thats supposed to be lame slow and boring. Thats the side effect of getting to walk around like a sponge. tanks damage is low if the game is good. When WOW boosts tank damage the game is always broken and dumb till they fix it.
I already made an interesting solo leveling build for Bard. It's Bard/Fighter with sword+shield+ medium armor and using all talent points to maximize auto-attack damage and life steal. This includes the attack speed song, life-steal song ,the heal-over-time song and a maxed out one-handed swords tree.
"[Class] starts off with the pure [ooga] and then has variants [booga], [cheega], [chagga], [chooga].... [blah blah blah]" Holey Moley talk about over-saturation of meaningless words. Just imagining trying to talk with someone about AoC and you're "Yes, I play a soulbladeskyweaver" and they're like "HUH" and you have follow up "well it's a [core class] with [off class] secondary". Every. Single. Time.
If it's that annoying, people will just say "I'm a tank / bard" rather than saying the fancy name for that variant, and communication will be fine that way. But really, if you try to get into retail WoW in 2024, then there are 13 classes (such as warrior), each of which have about 3 specs (such as arms), each of which have about 2... sub-specs? I don't know the proper term, in this case they're colossus and slayer. So that's 78 combinations, already more than the 64 that AoC has. So, complex games just have a lot of vocabulary. And it's fine, people learn it quickly enough.
Narc join the last alpha 2 phase and do hot takes on people doing game reviews on an Alpha build! which i think is ridiculous!! Review the Alpha build and its progress!
Idk why buy this game just feels like a unity assets game. Maybe through more passes it would look more polished/complete. But the art style and just look of the game feels old and outdate for something being developed in 21st
