@@Gurka84 People don't realize that I5N ($70k) is comparable in size and performance to Lamborghini Urus Performante ($300k). That's possible because it is an EV. And Hyundai made it fun to drive.
@@bbokdoong But we (driving enthusiasts) don’t care about Lambo Urus as well. We want that BRZ/ND/Porsche/Type R etc experience and this atrocity doesn’t provide any of that so why do people act like this thing is some kind of savior?
With regen braking you use your brakes very little. 5N has the best .6g force, makes to think your going through windshield. Takes a bit of practice feathering it. I have to mentally remember to use my brakes every now and then to keep the rotors from rusting.
Good luck finding an ICE car with this amount of space/practicality and performance at a less or even similar price though! Closest I can think of is a Macan Turbo and those are waaay more than $66k.
As an EV6 GT owner I'm really looking forward to hearing more about your thoughts about the EV6 GT. Given that you can buy lightly used examples for sub-40k right now, it really makes you wonder if the new 5N is worth the 30k price difference. I think as a street car the EV6 is better but the 5N has such a great road presence over the much more subtle Kia.
@@hamsterbrigade problem is that hydrogen is gravimetrically efficient (good energy per lb) but not volumetrically efficient in its current implementation (poor energy per cubic foot). Thanks for the review. It’s so goddamn annoying when a legacy automaker finally makes a somewhat affordable, high performance fun EV and all everyone does is bitch about it. what other EV or ICE vehicle for that matter offers this much performance for the price? Better yet, wait another year and see how much it depreciates, I’m betting you can pick up one up in a year or two around 50k.
Funnily enough, this car seems to drive/move around more similarly to a C8 at least in your videos vs. a front engine rear drive car like S2000 and 86 😅. I'd think it would have a vibe similar to a large GR Corolla but I'm getting more C8, haha

The only issue I have with this car is the range is abysmal for the price. $65K for 220 miles of range? Contrary to popular belief but the Tesla and other EV’s are somewhat fun to drive. I think instead of trying to make EV cars appear like internal combustion engine vehicles, people should own 1 EV and then own another ICE car instead
It’s a 650 hp beast. You’re really complaining about range? ICE vehicles with same hp won’t fair any better. If you want range, get the Ioniq 6 long range or a Tesla.

I've got nothing against EVs, give me a a Nissan Leaf for going to the store, and a Rimac, Evija, Lucid Sapphire or most importantly the upcoming Caterham project V, for driving fun. This thing is... awful. Way, way too big and heavy, pretend engine noise and pointless fake gear shifts? This misses the point of driving engagement so much it's embarrassing. I get and like that Hyundai are trying to make a fun sort of EV but this is definitely not the way to do it in my opinion. I'll be in the minority for that opinion I'm sure.
"Driving engagement" is the entire point of the fake sounds and shifts. Literally every UA-cam review of this car says this car is better BECAUSE of the fake gear shifts and engine noise. I haven't driven one so I can't say for sure, but when legit driving enthusiasts like this channel, The Smoking Tire and others have huge grins on their face, praise the fakery, this make me think that Hyundai might be on to something here.
This is the future that gives me hope on EVs, not Teslas egg shaped straight line fast appliances. Wow.
What so hopeful about driving a 2.2 tons electric SUV with fake engine noise and transmission with fake paddles? It’s really sad in my book

Hmm this thing actually seems kind of sick. These guys cracked the ev code i think to make them way more desireable and fun
Would take this over a Tesla
Would have loved to see what happens when you bang limiter or aggressively downshift lol
If a gun to my head to get an EV … most likely this would be it, ugh!
First time thinking that ev could be fun , hopefully they come up with manual in the future
this with toyota's fake manual would be perfect.

It's not N mode?
Promising for the future of EV enthusiast cars but 4800lbs is…wow. They’ve really got to get weights down.
In the near future it'll have to be hydrogen for that to happen. I only see that taking off in places like Japan.
Wait for solid state batteries. Until then, Porsche is heading in the right direction with transmission mounted e-motors and e-turbos.
