Can you turn off the fake noises tho? I just want it to be quiet inside. Can you turn off all the fake stuff (gear changes and noises) and just have it run normally? Quiet. Linear acceleration with no simulated gear shifting?
Toyota? They don't have BEV technology. Look at BZ4X. Although it was released two years later than the IONIQ 5, it was poor in all aspects and the materials used were cheap, but it was released more expensively, and as a result, the wheel fell off and a full refund was issued. 😂 Before discussing simulated gears, their technology gap is at least 5 years behind when it comes to BEVs.
Toyota is acting somewhat like Sony back in 90s when the new era of LCD tech arrived but couldn't let go of their glorious CRT tech Trinitron and missed the bus.
I agree that on camera it sounds a bit hollow. But if you drive yourself, especially with the gear shifts, the sound is pretty cool. You start to use the sounds to shift properly and then the “fake” feel disappears pretty much.
This is at the end an ultra heavy electric SUV with fake transmission and engine sound. No matter what it will always feel fake and not authentic and a gimmick at the end. Suddenly all the so called “car enthusiasts” doesn’t care about weight, engine sound and the fact that there is nothing “pure” here and they all leave a raving review. Hypocrisy and probably money/goods (like good relationship with the maker of it) involved.
Weight: for its size and performance, it's no heavier then ICE cars. Handling: it handles amazingly well, for its weight but also just full stop. I was sceptical but I drove one and it's true Fake engine sounds: yep it's fake. ICE cars that also offer comfort have been doing it for years. Switch it off if it distracts... Fake gears: ironically, it works better then many (electronically controlled and programmed) real gearboxes. Not in the mood? One button toggle... It's a great drivers car and one that is very practical and very comfortable too. That's a pretty rare combination irrespective of the mode of propulsion. Sounds to me you may have issues with the latter and not being 'pure' enough driver entusiast to recognise a good car ;)
Test the car, you will sing a completely different tune. Your brain stops focusing on how the sound comes, and starts utilising it for cues on firs thard turn.
A chunky dance partner who can bust a move lol.

Yes you can definitely turn it off
I’m curious to hear what Lexus does with the simulated manual in the LFA

@@seouliteinmumbai7955 Toyota missed the E-Bus.
They made an EV Fun. HUV
I had such a big hype for this car, but sadly, the simulated engine noises doesn't sound so good (at least on camera)
I5N received rave reviews from just about every reviewer. So, at least, testdrive it before making a judgment.
@bbokdoong I legally can not drive a car
Try it your self in the vehicle, it's just so much different
