Even if overall it's quite linear, what we can do with characters is really what I expected from Bethesda after Morrowind. As for Larian, I find Original Sin pretty uninteresting compared to the dark fantasy settings they produces with Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity. They were amazing Diablo-like. As for Tales of Maj'Eyal, it's definitively on the top 3 of my list.

I don't know if any of the games was later released on console as well though, but if that's the case these are ports, not original releases. I downloaded a random game called pillars of eternity 2 and found anew favorite genre. Since, I have played it's predecessor, pathfinder kingmaker and its sequel from last year, wrath of the righteous. What I find most enjoyable is customizing characters and setting my parties actions via in-game settings. Pillars 2 was by far the best that I've played when it comes to this feature. Allowing different abilities to be queued up at different health percentages of both target and friendly targets with distancers and gap closers. The worst being the recent pathfinder game.... So my main question here is which game has a better system or as good as pillars 2?
same with me but I downloaded divinity original sin, before I started to like RPG/CRPG , it was absolute blast, fun, mindblowing. The story is just very good for me . Then I started to like rpg, crpg and turn-based combat game like pathfinder, baldurs gate, spellforce, dos 1 and alot more... Divinity original sin 2 is definitely must try , I recommend sorry for my bad english
Divinity have best battle system, dialog, visuals and multiply ways to do quests. But story wise? It's still good don't get me wrong, but not exiting at all for me.
@@jeremymoran8763 nah it is a good sign, CRPGs are niche, and in a world where the gaming indursty constantly lay eggs, crpg has a very impressive and great list of games you can play today. Due to their style, graphics was never the main so old games hold up just fine. That top 15 could easily be re arranged due to the person, as they all have their own flairs, great games! I have a feel Adren liked thinking of the list.
Would you really even consider dragon age origins to be a CRPG it's more RPG with a bit of Classic mechanics but overall it's still a more modern Western RPG
Great selection, my only beef is that Numenera IS NOT the successor of Torment, Not even by a Mile. It did leave me a bad taste in the mouth, specially that ending... ugh. BUT that is my opinion.
We have been burnt by EA games before, but some also are successful. If a good company releases an EA, I will give them 1. If the game is crap that company is basically dead to me, only buy stuff on deep sales. But if they make a good game, they stay that good company. BG3 is not made by some random team that is just trying out crpg for their first time. For any EA game to have a good chance at turning out right, I would hedge bets on BG3
Each time I try Solasta, it feels like I'm playing a tech demo. That's also the only game in this list I just can't get into. I think there are also several games that are far superior to some of the games mentioned here. Planescape torment, baldurs gate 1 and baldurs gate 2 all have enhanced editions. I'd much rather play those games, over half the games on this list.
From a pure old school 90ies PoV: Might & Magic VII, Baldur's Gate II were some great games - but Fallout 2 was the GOATest CRPG i ever played. Heck nothing comes even close to this masterpiece!!! Uhm, nothing but TES II: Daggerfall of course. :)
Better laugh, it’s sold a ton of early access copies and is great. Full release is only a few months out. Supporting devs while they finish the polish is what early access is for. If you don’t understand that, I will laugh,
I know wasteland 3 is a nice game but the humour is not for me. The sound of Armour and robotic chicken is terrible 😫. I wish I could enjoy wasteland 3
How a Crpg who runs turn by turn system can be nice ? This is just the worst system ever. You can call this : Crpg as long as you don’t have real time system just because all the best crpg running real time system.
Its understandable. Disco Elysium is very interesting in the fact that there is truly no other game with this kind of writing style in the world... but it does present itself very pretentiously and very "look at all the big words i can use that I don't need to use". It can come across as a very arrogantly written game, but that in itself is a somewhat unique experience to play.
It's not for everyone, Actually I do not like such kind of games. But i was enthralled by the history and the Music, that Church Music is Dope, and the Ending with the.. ermm... won't spoil but the moment is quite magic.
Disco Elysium is prolly a top 2 for me, the fact that i can choose to be a Drug addict art loving cool looking mechanic cop and just say random shit to people and also stumble upon clues and solve mystery what got me hooked to the game.
The way people use the labels is nonsense. The 'c' stands for 'computer'. It was used in the 70s, 80s and 90s to distinguish between Western RPGs that were primarily on PC from JRPGs which were primarily on consoles or at least played just like their console based counterparts. When Western RPGs moved onto consoles around 2002-2006, they started using 'WRPG' and 'JRPG' to distinguish them. But 'cRPG' paints a very broad brush. Encompasses everything from Diablo like hack'n slash lootfests,Turn-based First person hack'n slash dungeon crawlers, Isometric story & quest driven RPGs, dynamic & procedural sandboxes & hybrid games like Strategy or tactics RPG hybrids & Graphic adventure, RPG hybrids. 'cRPG' wasn't a specific genre. Today though, it's normally used to refer to games in the style of Black Isle & Bioware's late 90s RPGs like Fallout, Planescape and Baldur's gate. You'd remove Tower of TIme, Solasta and Shadowrun from this list if you used cRPG in this way, as they're not very much like Planescape, Fallout or Baldur's gate.
@@7dayspking Thanks for the detailed explanation. For me, if "C" means classic, then it means deep development of the character/s. Since before it was not possible to make cooler graphics and physics, the developers tried to captivate us with the GAME ITSELF - that is, GAME PLAY! And that's what I like. I have been playing games for a long time, the first computer was 286. And having gone through many different games in my life, I prefer RPGs - ARPGs. Therefore, this option is suitable for more players. It all depends on what skill YOU have more developed - hands, reaction or BRAIN!))) It is possible to compensate for one with the other, and ideally have everything together !!!)))
@@majorgear1021 Something I forgot to mention is that 'cRPG' even earlier than that was used to differentiate computer games from live action role playing games because there were no JRPGs in the 70s & early 80s when cRPGs first emerged.

And last but not least - why do you want to make a competition out of that? I never stated the games I mentioned are "the best", I said they're good games, nothing more, nothing less. It's actually possible to like different games.
@@HH-hd7nd Fair, my response was uncalled for. I thought you were talking about what should have been on the list like so many others.
I never did or would call Gothic a dunngeon crawler, I said it's basically a console game and not really a 'cRPG' like Wizardry or Ultima. It has goddamn tank controls and platforming like Tomb raider, a voiced protagonist and basically no dungeons.
Morrowind's a dungeon crawler, not Gothic.
@@7dayspking No I didn't, I just listed some good old games - actually I doubt that most people nowadays even know these games existed at all which is the one of the reasons I mentioned these titles and not some newer, more widespread known titles.
Gothic is not a console game btw - all three games where PC exclusive on release. I don't know if any of the games was later released on console as well though, but if that's the case these are ports, not original releases.
Reading your description I can't help but think that you're not talking about the same game as I do. I'm talking about the RPG released by Pyranha Bytes in 2001 (btw 2002 and 2006 for Gothic 2 and 3 respectively).
So my main question here is which game has a better system or as good as pillars 2?
i've always enjoyed Divinity Original Sin 2 more than the pillars of eternity, maybe you can try that :)
@@JoelRPG DOS2 for their origin system alone is worth. Great story, great world, makes you want to play thru many times as the options are endless.
same with me but I downloaded divinity original sin, before I started to like RPG/CRPG , it was absolute blast, fun, mindblowing. The story is just very good for me .
Then I started to like rpg, crpg and turn-based combat game like pathfinder, baldurs gate, spellforce, dos 1 and alot more... Divinity original sin 2 is definitely must try , I recommend
sorry for my bad english
Divinity have best battle system, dialog, visuals and multiply ways to do quests. But story wise? It's still good don't get me wrong, but not exiting at all for me.
Great list!
Thanks!
Great list. But truly criminal how many CRPG's are just single player. Massive shame. D:OS2 is sublime to play thru with friends in coop.
Wrath of righteousness should be number 1 its great
Thank you, subscribed
Welcome!
Dang... played everyone of these, and beaten 2/3rd of em
Where’s bg 1 and 2 EE? Where’s planescape torment

5. Arcanum
6. Shadowrun: Dragonfall, Honk-Kong

8. Dragon age: origins
9. The age of decadence

Where is PoE 1/2?
@@jeremymoran8763
11. ToEE
12. Pillars 2
13. Pillars 1
14. DOS 2
15. DOS 1
Lol. Sorry. U didn’t have to make a top 15! Appreciate it brother.
F
@@jeremymoran8763 nah it is a good sign, CRPGs are niche, and in a world where the gaming indursty constantly lay eggs, crpg has a very impressive and great list of games you can play today. Due to their style, graphics was never the main so old games hold up just fine. That top 15 could easily be re arranged due to the person, as they all have their own flairs, great games! I have a feel Adren liked thinking of the list.
Would you really even consider dragon age origins to be a CRPG it's more RPG with a bit of Classic mechanics but overall it's still a more modern Western RPG
Planescape Torment? Diablo 2? Fallout 1/2?
:((
I picked up "tower of time" today on steam for less than $7
that company is coming out with a new game soon as well. Keep an eye on Dark Envoy if you enjoy tower of time, I certainly did.
best Chinese rug is "doomsday scenario: covid"
I own and played them, so great list my friend.
Awesome! Thank you!
Pathfinder wrath of the righteous below pillars of eternity 2 and wasteland cant possible
Did Xcom not qualify to the list?
xcom is a turn based strategy i think, not a crpg, at least not in the traditional concept.
Great selection, my only beef is that Numenera IS NOT the successor of Torment, Not even by a Mile. It did leave me a bad taste in the mouth, specially that ending... ugh. BUT that is my opinion.
Such a good list. The only I had a lot of trouble getting into was age of decadence.
Neverwinter nights 2?
I think that you make some of these lists just so you can say how great Divinity is.
Why is a game that isn’t fully released on this list!
because it is cool :D
We have been burnt by EA games before, but some also are successful. If a good company releases an EA, I will give them 1. If the game is crap that company is basically dead to me, only buy stuff on deep sales. But if they make a good game, they stay that good company. BG3 is not made by some random team that is just trying out crpg for their first time. For any EA game to have a good chance at turning out right, I would hedge bets on BG3
Fall Last days of gaya
Wizardry 8
Each time I try Solasta, it feels like I'm playing a tech demo. That's also the only game in this list I just can't get into.
I think there are also several games that are far superior to some of the games mentioned here. Planescape torment, baldurs gate 1 and baldurs gate 2 all have enhanced editions. I'd much rather play those games, over half the games on this list.
Pathfinder for me could be 2º after dinity 2
BG1, BG2 SoA + ToB still rulez...
Can anyone tell me games similar to langrisser series and shadowrun
"Its believable"...
Your chasing around a skyscraper sized God in the form of a adra giant.
Original divinity 2??? Really?? 🤦🏻♂️
:(
Baldur gates 3 is not finished, so if you enjoy to pay $45 for an unfinish product, I will laugh, but it is your money lol
Better laugh, it’s sold a ton of early access copies and is great. Full release is only a few months out. Supporting devs while they finish the polish is what early access is for. If you don’t understand that, I will laugh,
Where is UnderRail?
i will make part 2 for this series :)
*cough* You did not mention Arcanum *cough*
TOWER OF TIME best game
No baldurs gate 2 ? What a joke
yea im joking :D
Grim Dawn is awesome
That's a different genre.
I know wasteland 3 is a nice game but the humour is not for me. The sound of Armour and robotic chicken is terrible 😫. I wish I could enjoy wasteland 3
Divinity 2 first place and Baldur's gate 2 the second
I’m trying to figure out your accent
Underrail: Expedition
i just cant get into the atmosphere of wasteland. it just feels so ew to me lol
all of games are turn based... good as fuck toplist...
BG 2 though…
I've only ever played Baldur's Gate from this list, since I'm more into portables :p
Fallout 2…
Dragon Age shouldn't be on this list or should be n. 1.
As I always say a Crpg top not this Planescape Torment is not a serious top.
How a Crpg who runs turn by turn system can be nice ?
This is just the worst system ever.
You can call this : Crpg as long as you don’t have real time system just because all the best crpg running real time system.
Bang jul bahas game android dong
kapan2 yaa haha
I am gonna just come out and say it,I didn't like Disco Elysium.
its okay :D
Same, as a non native english speaker i find it difficult to understand all philosophical bs as this game rely on dialogue.
WTF Disco Elysium & where is Encased?
It's HIS list not yours. Go make your own video if you want it on the list. Chill out
C - ??? Clasic ? I know `A` - Action, `T` - Tactical RPG-is.
i know its weird XD
It stands for computer, but can be said for a classic as well
The way people use the labels is nonsense.
@@7dayspking Yep. usage of the term cRPG has changed over time. It’s interesting to see it’s history.
@@majorgear1021 Something I forgot to mention is that 'cRPG' even earlier than that was used to differentiate computer games from live action role playing games because there were no JRPGs in the 70s & early 80s when cRPGs first emerged.
Games Larian and Obsidian - worst
Torment: Tides of Numenera is my absolute favorite
Probaste Planescape torment?
finished this one like a year ago and it was really immersive. the Sorrow thing, god it's a genious idea never saw a vilain like that before
