Saw the title and knew this was going to be a difficult challenge just from the first gym. The fact you made it all the way to Steven is impressive enough.
14:43 It can be done with a Gloom/Gulpin/Golbat, but you need insane luck and you'll probably have one death at least. The strat is to lead with Gloom, land the sleep powder on magnemite, then switch to Golbat. Supersonic then spam bite and hope for flinches. You'll want a cheri berry on everything of course. Voltorb is pretty easy, just switch back to gloom and land the sleep powder, finish it with acid and absorb. 34:46 the reason the Metagross used psychic is because it saw that psychic (and its other moves) all killed Tentacruel, so it randomly chose between them. Fantastic video, by the way! Super fun to watch!

Great run Silph, gotta admire the dedication with that gym 1 grind and very unlucky with some battles. That 1st sharpeado battle had me nervous 😰, but a great run overall and good to see posion types get some love. Keep up the great work and hope to catch a stream this weekend.
Hey Brendan, thanks so much! It was definitely a crazy run; I thought it was impossible after trying with Roxanne but I think we at least proved that this run *could* be done if Metagross can be managed more effectively. Unfortunately I'm traveling to visit family this week so no streams until next weekend. Can't wait to continue our Normal-only run though, I'm remaining hopeful haha
Honestly, I find that 'struggle' early on with Cascoon pointless. Just get a Wrumple and evolve it on wild encounters. If it's not a Cascoon, ditch it an catch another. But instead you waste a lot of time (especially on multiple attempts) with a Cascoon that can't attack. There is frankly no reason for this at all. One could say that Wrumple isn't a poison type, but neither is Casoon. The rules are arbitrary anyway, so something that lets the challenge actually start instead of taking weeks for no reason is welcomed. This doesn't make the challenge any harder, just more time consuming. After all, the challenge only really starts with Dustox.
I hard agree, especially due to the fact he struggle grinded to ev train. However, dustox would've had another attacking move when it evolved that wasn't confusion, but tbh that's negligible too. I don't quite understand why he went through it 7 times when after the first it was pointless and a waste of time.
@@armaggedon390 meaning he’d have to start over again since it’s a fail if it turns into silcoon. It’s a toss up between rolling NRG by catching a wurmple or grinding after getting a cascoon. You don’t just “catch another” in nuzlockes. You start over from the beginning since he technically caught a Pokémon that broke the rules. You also can’t catch multiples of the same line or Pokémon from the same area.
In generation three, if an opponent sees a kill if you are at a low enough HP, it will likely do a random attacking move. Since your tentacruel was at 30 HP, I believe it was low enough for a random move. Loved the video!!!
You son of a gun, I’m litteraly doing my first nuzlocke and it’s a poison only run. I’ve been recording it and hope to upload it soon, good thing it’s on Soul Silver
Another great run Silph 🙌🙌 the struggle bus tactic in the beginning when necessary is always so f’n respectable my dude ! Your still goat’d per usual !
Awesome work Silph, love your videos, it's a good day when a Silph video is uploaded. Maybe try X or Y with fairy types only, might be a cool idea since it was the introductory geberation for that typing!
I decided to look up someone doing this challenge because I had personally just finished it, but your rules are tighter and your attention to detail is absolutely stellar. You've earned my sub.
Fun fact: At 32:42 when Glacia sends out all of her water types against Roselia it makes sense based on how the logic of this game works. The AI prefers to send out Pokemon that have a super effective move against you, but that are also weak to your type. Since Water is weak to Grass, and Ice isn't, even though Glalie is the technically better matchup, the AI logic prefers Sealeo and Walrein for some reason.
I actually used Dustox, which I named Felicia, in my first ever nuzlocke - Pokemon Emerald - and it was surprisingly very clutch! It even saved me the Elite 4 and Champion!
Another amazing video! Entertaining all the way through 💜 it might be a bit tough to set up, (maybe gen 4 for piplup?) but I’d love to see a Steel-Type run!
It's not because it has low HP, it's because it sees a kill with multiple moves, so it picks randomly between those multiple moves. If you have a pokemon that has low HP but 4x resists a move to the point where it doesn't kill, you can still predict it will choose a move that will.
Always enjoy the content. In general, that crobat switch seemed unnecessarily risky… tentacruel had served its purpose in the run. In any event, hindsight is 20/20 and I’m sure I would have made many mistakes before that moment haha. I’m sure you’ve seen the comments about Emerald AI and it’s a heartbreaking loss. Excited for the next one

What an awesome run! I really thought you had it when you got to Steven but he’s the ultimate challenge in that game against poison types unfortunately.
I felt so sure he would turn an undesirable natured Seviper into a special attacker since his Seviper happened to be timid nature. Also, surprised he didn't mention that naturally Seviper has a 100 base stat in both attack and special attack so that should've eventually worked in his favor. (Don't forget, Roselia learns giga drain by level up & dark is special in this generation). With all his prior Nuzlocke experience I presumed making a timid Seviper as good as possible was a no-brainer on an all poison team & silently might be a blessing in disguise. Personally my ideal 4 moves would've been> 1. Sunny day [obtained TM]; 2. Giga drain [obtained TM]; 3. Flamethrower [bought TM]; and 4. Crunch [level up] Metagross would've been toast with that move lineup! In my honestly opinion, putting earthquake on a minus attack nature probably costed him more in the long run unfortunately!
Hah, now I understand why Sapphire instead of Emerald despite it having both likely Koffing and Seviper. Emerald's Tate&Liza would have absolutely wiped the floor with you lol Although I'm not sure if it was worth Champion Steven
That Jennifer trainer messed me up as well. But unlike you I didnt train up any evs or anything so she literally just wiped out my team.. I was like WhaT the HeLl
My man! Back with another awesome video! 👏🏻 commentary is great and new and fresh compared to others, smooth editing. Congrats on your rise to a major content creator brother
I’ve loved poison Pokémon since I first caught a muk and ekans. Now I haven’t had a single playthrough without one of the two. Muk is usually always my tank/status effect mon. Sometimes I go real funky and 100% EV train speed or attack though lol.
Pro tip for standard nuzlocke runs. There are actually three locations for catches in Dewford. If you go all the way to the right of dewford town you can fish in a different route. Route 107 I think.
Great run! I've been wanting to record a Poison only run on Emerald and beating 2 geodudes and a nosepass seems nearly impossible! Seeing how the rest of the run plays out in your game, though, I might get back to it!

He can only catch the first eligible pokemon on each route.
Wurmple evolves randomly since you can’t see or influence it. If it turned into Silcoon, he’d have restart again until he got the right one.
@@Crimsonnavyking So? Cascoon isn't poison type either. The challenge only starts when he gets Dustox. It would take much less time.
Best part of waking up on Sundays. I like before the video even starts because I know imma love the video. Thanks silph!
The amount of work you put into your videos is insane!! Keep up the good work!
Ay thanks so much Samurai, I do my best!
Solid run mate, a fun watch. Tough loss, but if there is a Pokémon to lose to, there is no shame to go down to Metacross..
17:15 Crunch is special this gen.
17:44 crunch is special in this Gen, which is why Roselia took it pretty well! Great run!
Yooo vivid. Love your vids
Always a great way to end a week with a Silph Nuzlocke
I think it's cute that the zigzagoon is named Locksmith
In generation three, if an opponent sees a kill if you are at a low enough HP, it will likely do a random attacking move. Since your tentacruel was at 30 HP, I believe it was low enough for a random move. Loved the video!!!
Love seeing the early bugs in the endgame
Darth Bane always said that the dark side was like venom.
You son of a gun, I’m litteraly doing my first nuzlocke and it’s a poison only run. I’ve been recording it and hope to upload it soon, good thing it’s on Soul Silver
This can be the most *poisonous* run I have seen....
At least I was able to Swalot in action
That was bad you could have used toxic and it would work better
I wish beedrill was stronger tbh, one of my all time favorites its so cool
*Mega evo intensifies*
Crunch is special in generation 3.
Oh, maaaan, SO many close moments during this run! I was watching from the edge of my seat with this one!
I decided to look up someone doing this challenge because I had personally just finished it, but your rules are tighter and your attention to detail is absolutely stellar. You've earned my sub.
I always love your sense of humour through these. Well done as always! I swear these coming out is the best part of that day now.
The struggle at the start made me like the video. Great content my man.
12:12, He does!? Dang, Silph! You got the man with legs of steel! 😉
I've been waiting for the poison type mono run! Poison is my favorite type and Venomoth my favorite Pokemon
Video idea: only use grass types in a hardcore heart gold run
Dude I just started the vid and the Star Wars among us joke had me f*cking crying my eyes out.... Love it
Fun fact: At 32:42 when Glacia sends out all of her water types against Roselia it makes sense based on how the logic of this game works. The AI prefers to send out Pokemon that have a super effective move against you, but that are also weak to your type. Since Water is weak to Grass, and Ice isn't, even though Glalie is the technically better matchup, the AI logic prefers Sealeo and Walrein for some reason.
I missed the tournament series, but this series is just as good to watch.
"She has a name. It's Jennifer."
Of course it is.
Maxie's pooch is definitely high af in the Mr. Chimney battle, no rarer candy than cocaine!
Random Machoke trying to do it's job: exists
Silph: So anyways, I started asserting dominance
I actually used Dustox, which I named Felicia, in my first ever nuzlocke - Pokemon Emerald - and it was surprisingly very clutch! It even saved me the Elite 4 and Champion!
"7.8 too much tears."
-Silph
Another amazing video! Entertaining all the way through 💜 it might be a bit tough to set up, (maybe gen 4 for piplup?) but I’d love to see a Steel-Type run!
18:28 Slugma you say?
Slugma balls
The Star Wars references are strong in this one
If the AI sees that the pokémon is at a low HP, it choses a random move to attack, that's why it used psychic. Bad luck i suppose.
It's not because it has low HP, it's because it sees a kill with multiple moves, so it picks randomly between those multiple moves. If you have a pokemon that has low HP but 4x resists a move to the point where it doesn't kill, you can still predict it will choose a move that will.
An idea I had was a normal Pokémon run but you can’t evolve whatever you catch?
Always enjoy the content. In general, that crobat switch seemed unnecessarily risky… tentacruel had served its purpose in the run. In any event, hindsight is 20/20 and I’m sure I would have made many mistakes before that moment haha. I’m sure you’ve seen the comments about Emerald AI and it’s a heartbreaking loss. Excited for the next one
The among us picture, “I am… inevitable”😂
Random (and overly long) Question:
Is there no such thing as a Calculator
or Program or Witchraft-Tool;
Science or Magic;
that allows for QUICK and EASY
research on-the-go about EV-Training?
I mean, do i have to memorize Masses and Masses
of Data about how Everything reacts to Everything?!
There must be an easier way, yes?
15:25 I did this like a hundred times thinking she’d give me an item 😂
I just wanted to say I LOVE your commentary, always has me at the edge of my seat x3
Ooooh I was hoping for Mothra to survive the run :( Still a great Run!
What an awesome run! I really thought you had it when you got to Steven but he’s the ultimate challenge in that game against poison types unfortunately.
Wow great video I love it here’s an idea Pokémon ultra sun using only grass type Pokémon
And it is a hardcore nuzlocke
I am predicting, tentacruel/crobat will be the MVP
Crunch [level up]
Metagross would've been toast with that move lineup! In my honestly opinion, putting earthquake on a minus attack nature probably costed him more in the long run unfortunately!
Hah, now I understand why Sapphire instead of Emerald despite it having both likely Koffing and Seviper. Emerald's Tate&Liza would have absolutely wiped the floor with you lol
Although I'm not sure if it was worth Champion Steven
That Jennifer trainer messed me up as well. But unlike you I didnt train up any evs or anything so she literally just wiped out my team.. I was like WhaT the HeLl
Mad props. Did a mono poison HV Nuzlocke of gen 1 myself to test how OP yhose psychic types were lol
My man! Back with another awesome video! 👏🏻 commentary is great and new and fresh compared to others, smooth editing.
Congrats on your rise to a major content creator brother
Hahahahaha the Lance Armstrong joke was stupidly hilarious xD
Bug and Grass both resist Ground so Earthquake was only supereffective against 3 of your team :)
Only Silph can put in so much work with the moth lol
The star wars reference was perfect 😂😂😂
Wow the struggle leveling at the beginning must have been the worst. Way to stay dedicated as always though.
Man I love these videos! The format you have is consistent but every video feels like a unique journey. KEEP IT UP!
I’ve loved poison Pokémon since I first caught a muk and ekans. Now I haven’t had a single playthrough without one of the two. Muk is usually always my tank/status effect mon. Sometimes I go real funky and 100% EV train speed or attack though lol.
you're my favorite pokemon youtuber now silphh!
I am pretty sure seviper has access to flamethrower which could have helped you beat Metagross
Silph: Our first deathless run!?
Self-destruct: You naive fool.
This is basically Pokemon: Team Rocket Version
Pro tip for standard nuzlocke runs. There are actually three locations for catches in Dewford. If you go all the way to the right of dewford town you can fish in a different route. Route 107 I think.
Great run! I've been wanting to record a Poison only run on Emerald and beating 2 geodudes and a nosepass seems nearly impossible! Seeing how the rest of the run plays out in your game, though, I might get back to it!
"Was the sea made from tears of Pokémon?"
"No, by the tears of Silph through 7 attempts on Roxanne."
I really wanted to love this video because your content is great and poison is my favorite type, BUT YOU GOT MY LITTLE BUDDY GRIMER KILLED BEFORE THEY COULD BECOME MY FAVORITE POKEMON YOU MONSTER
Dude I subscribed to a funny man who does pokemon challenges I love it lol
