What a massive weapon!! It’s like having those last third party plugins drums with IA but it’s us who entirely decide what to do. Incredible work from Ableton
Man, that was amazing. I was ultra sceptical about the video title (‘yeah, right!’)….but wow, what a tool. I would say you nailed some JD ‘inspired’ rhythms for sure. And a bit more tweaking of that timewarp could add some real nice off beat flourishes. 👌
Nice video! I must admit, when I first saw the feature list for Live 12 I was a little underwhelmed, but the more videos I've watched the more I'm realizing how cool all the new MIDI stuff is.
Hey Side Brain. Fantastic video. I have been experimenting with the rhythm generative tool when using a drum rack loaded with samples in Live 12. I don’t get near as many steps, pattern and density options. Any idea where I may be going wrong at all? Many thanks
Awesome video, can I ask what you did to have your MIDI notes show the names of drums while using AD? It looks like you set up a drum rack and then created an instrument rack by grouping them. In order to get the names of the notes to appear in the MIDI editor though, I have to load a sample into drum rack to be able to rename it, and then mute the drum rack. Would you mind shedding some light on your process? Its annoying having to guess which drums are which notes all the time when using AD. Thanks :)
I’m using Addictive Drums for the acoustic drum sound. The layered Drum Rack is just a trick to see the drum names in the MIDI clip. Here’s a how to video: ua-cam.com/video/3inu0ccumAg/v-deo.html
Yes, I think the best one is the Soul R&B one. But I’m mixing in others. I’m working on some videos but I have some presets here if you want to check it out: sidebrain.net/supa-fat-supa-dry-for-addictive-drums/
awesome video! how did you make the ad2 single instrument assignments (kick, sd, hh etc.) visible in the midi editor window? i am lookong for that for years…
Any idea idea why in my Ableton 12 under the rhythm section where you select the instrument I only have "pitch" available? And no others? Do i have the download the AD2 preset you made a video about for it to work like that without mapping it myself?
@@SideBrain fair enough and yes, but the fine tune control is not there, and it’s based on the “drummer” style. 16 step hi hats can sound very different depending on each drummer, so it’s a ton of trial and error. You also have very basic controls of moving along an x/y graph, whereas the slightest move can drastically alter the performance. This seems more straight forward if that makes sense
Hey Side Brain, thank you for this tutorial. Can you please show a different method of doing the JD BEck Style Drums with Live 12? Even if it's using a VST. Thank you
There’s also this that you can already do in Live 11, kind of turning Ableton into Logic Auto Drummer: instagram.com/reel/Ci0Neq5pfw9/?igshid=NTYzOWQzNmJjMA==
Next step: Emulate the great master, Elvin Jones !! (a couple of those licks toward the end of chapter "Time Warp" had some stunning suspensions of time and accent syncopation that made me spill my beer)
Word! JD has mentioned Aphex as a big inspiration a couple of times. So fun we're living in a time where an IDM pioneer can influence a new jazz artist!

The way music software should go
That’s a game changer for drum programming! Insane possibilities here! Spot on!! Great video!!
Very true. Worth the upgrade
Fantastic demonstration of this new feature. Well done! Hope you make more videos, particularly on using this to generate melodic content
Thanks, will do!
Your tutorials are some of the finest I ever encountered. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
this is so amazing! thank you!
Nice demo! This stuff is really cool!
Dude you’re a genius. Really love this video. Great musical ideas on display here
Thank you!
oh man this is an inspiring use of these new tools

haha that's awesome!
Definitely agreed with @johncitizen8828 , you nailed it man.
the best ableton video i have watched in some time. straight to the point, clear, nice sound. thnx sir
thanks for this! Some really great possibilities for programming complex IDM percussion and D&B breaks!
Damn live just changed the game with this one!
your addictive drums sound fire! are you processing the channels individually or is it done inside the plugin?
Thank you!
No external processing it’s just my Addictive Drums presets
You can find them on my website
Nice video! I must admit, when I first saw the feature list for Live 12 I was a little underwhelmed, but the more videos I've watched the more I'm realizing how cool all the new MIDI stuff is.
Honestly me too
Amazing video, thank you! Can you tell please, how did the names appear instead of the notes on the left side of the midi?
Also great for Drum n Bass! Thanks for this. I've messed around with this tool, but never really understood it.

Really cool tool! Havent seen anyone else do videos of this yet. Thanks for highlighting this feature
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video. Thank you very much for sharing. I can't wait for Live 12 !
You’re welcome!
Great work. This is straight to the point. Inspiring !
awesome - sounds really good!
Great demo! Thank you for all of your ableton tips.

And yes it’s just a trick with the Drum Rack. check out the video I posted just after this one
@@SideBrain Sweet! Will do, thanks for the response!
Mind-blowing stuff! Thank you
So cool Yeuda, great demo!!
Thank you!
thankyouuu. great new feature!!!!! hope to see some others explained like that 'meld' synth
Cool tip! i did not know about it, didn't take me long to get the hang of it.
Thanks for that awesome inside, on the new Ableton feature. Seems no way I am not gonna buy it. What drum rack/sample pack are you using?
It's a plugin called Addictive Drums
Do you have AD2 preset packs? I only see Ableton stuff on your site. great kit!!!
Yes! I was finishing up the pack. It’s nothing much but each preset is a beast imo
Check it here: sidebrain.net/supa-fat-supa-dry-for-addictive-drums/
brilliant!
This is awesome! Can't wait to try it!
Crazy. Absolutely crazy. Thanks for this
You got it!
Thanks for showing this.I am going to get the upgrade for sure.
Enjoy it
Great demo!❤
What was addictive drums for if you programmed everything in drum rack? Did you just take samples from Addictive drums?
I’m using Addictive Drums for the acoustic drum sound. The layered Drum Rack is just a trick to see the drum names in the MIDI clip. Here’s a how to video: ua-cam.com/video/3inu0ccumAg/v-deo.html
Wow! Endless possibilities, nice example!
Cool! Is it built in or I need M4L?
Built-in Live 12
@@SideBrain cheers!
Thanks for demo and thanks to the programmers behind this software
Agreed!
YO!
this is incredible
thank you
Awesome man, thanks! this is pretty incredible
Thank you! And I agree
awesome drum groove... I'm definitely going to be messing around with this once it comes out.
Thanks for sharing this. Looking forward to trying this myself when Ableton 12 is released. Which AD packs do you use/recommend?
Yes, I think the best one is the Soul R&B one. But I’m mixing in others. I’m working on some videos but I have some presets here if you want to check it out: sidebrain.net/supa-fat-supa-dry-for-addictive-drums/

I’m making a tutorial about that should be up in a day or two
wow, great! you got a follower!
Just uploaded the video: ua-cam.com/video/3inu0ccumAg/v-deo.html
Sounds great. Time warp is awesome feature
It is!

🙏
Nice feature, and demo!
Thank you!
Damn. Gotta take this update. Your videos are 🔥
Thank you!
Is there any way to add a bit of random timing to the note so they are not always right on pitch?
Are you looking to randomize timing or pitch or both?
@@SideBrain timing so it gives a more "human" feel
Any idea idea why in my Ableton 12 under the rhythm section where you select the instrument I only have "pitch" available? And no others? Do i have the download the AD2 preset you made a video about for it to work like that without mapping it myself?
Is there a logic pro equivalent to this? This looks amazing
I would think logic drummer maybe can do something like this?

Which Addictive Drums ADPack did you use?
It’s a mix of a few of them I have a whole pack of AD presets on my website

Hey, how you created drum map with names with addictive drums vst? Nice video!
It’s a trick I show here: sidebrain.net/addictive-drums-clip-labeling-for-ableton-live/
Now that’s dope !
nahhh, this is crazy good, big up ableton as always!
Just subscribed. Great video
Thank you!
Great video!
How did you name the specific midi notes on the addictive drums midi piano roll? Is that a new feature in Ableton 12?
I was waiting for someone to ask this. It’s an old trick not live 12. I’m just finishing a video explaining this upload soon.
@@SideBrain Awesome thanks
Please!!! I didn't think this was possible without some insane setup process@@SideBrain

you the man Yeuda!!
Thanks Lillian!
Abbaton 12 looks great! ;)
Very cool!
Thank you!
Is this included in Standard, or only in suite?
I’m not a 100% sure but I think it’s included in standard at least the default ones (there will be some max for live tools for this as well)
Ok never mind just confirmed with Ableton it will be included in standard version!
Is there something like this for fl
I'm not sure
Instant fave
I thought 12 wasnt out yet?
I’m an Ableton Certified Trainer I’ve been using it for a couple of months now

Damn!! Def sounds similar to JD

Why is it taking so long for them to let me beta test :(
Its not Jd Beck style. Its AFX style))
