  • The video explains the circumstances leading to the disappearance of Kuljit Singh Dhatt, a village sarpanch and director of Bhogpur Sugar Mill who was picked up by a officer of Hoshiarpur on July 23, 1989. The episode evoked a lot of public reaction as village Sarpanches chose to resign from their offices as cops failed to return back Kuljit Singh Dhatt who was never seen after that day. The family of Kuljit Dhatt fought from Pillar to post and finally got a commission of inquiry appointed by the Supreme Court of India. This was later followed up with very weak FIRs into the case and the entire proceedings of trial courts were stalled by accused cops in the High Court where the matter remained pending for over 14 years before finally being disposed off in favour of the family of Kuljit Singh Dhatt. In 2014 five cops including two senior officials including SPS Basra, the then SP Operations, Ajit Singh Sandhu, the then DSP of Dauya Police, Sardool Singh, SHO, Jaspal Singh SHO and Sita Ram, Chowki incharge were finally convicted.
