Itwas summer jam ☀️ 2001 Jayz went out and performed his diss track “Takeover” where in the song he disses Nas & Mobb Deep. It was unreleased, brand new and basically everyone just went crazy on how blatant he was dissing them. Then dropped The Blueprint album in the 🍂 fall. Mobb deep already had few songs taking shots. Nas wasn’t even really going to respond but his brother Jungle kept pushing him to retaliate and he dropped Ether & Stillmatic that winter. 🥶

There are about three other versions of this song that was never released cause Nas was forced to omit some verses cause they were too grimey. One of the verses was about Aliyah who had died and was close to Jay Z. Nas and Jayz back then had a sit down interview and squashed the beef. The Krs One Album is called Ghetto Music: The Blueprint of Hip Hop (1989). Jay Z`s Blueprint album was in 2001.
Jay-Z came back to respond with “Super Ugly” too, not nearly as much of an impact as “Ether” though…ultimately Nas was crowned the winner of this beef.
