This entire album, It Was Written, is a Masterpiece from start to finish.
Definitely! Bit overshadowed by illmatic but a classic in its own right🔥
Facts
This was such visual storytelling, and with Nas rapping from the perspective of a gun, it is one of the most creative songs in Hip Hop history. Classic!
And dont forget Tupac's "Me and My Gilfriend" when he was talkin about a gun
@@tangemclemore177 inspired by I gave you power
@@tavaresthomas6016 Duh
@tangemclemore177 duh yo ass you said Pac song like he didn't steal the whole concept
And also Hold me down by 50 Cent
Nas deserves an award for this track.
Indeed, this and Undying Love.

Don't get it twisted, pretty much every Nas joint is dope. But, if any joint by Nas deserves an award it's gotta be "N.Y. State of Mind," no doubt!
Why? We already goated him
@@216Numbskullthe world is yours😩
The song ends the same way it begins and the story repeats itself. This song is lyricism at it's highest degree.
I dam near shed a tear at reactions to this song in respects that the youth are starting to listen and feel what I felt THE DAY this came out.
Nas is the best ever
Shouout has to be given to DJ Premier for the track. They have made classics together. A very top notch pairing.
Anything Preem does with Nas or AZ you know it's gonna be fire
I was 16 when this album came out. Those were the days of real hip hop. Like all the heads from all the boroughs of NYC were lyricist in their own way, but Nas was that story teller that alot of us could relate back in the 90s. Good to see young heads know what real music is. 🎶 Imagine your gun telling you how it feels, what it has seen and done, only if it could talk. It fave you power. 💓
This song inspired 2Pac to make "Me & My Girlfriend."
Nas pen 🖊️🖋️ game is unmatched
His pen game is all Super Saiyan God mode
Yes, there is a reason why he is called the GOAT.
Nas the g.o.a.t. 🐐 👑.i gave you power is a legendary storytelling song.word up son
The greatest we've ever heard in our lives...hands down...the greatest...nobody does this and nobody ever will......I think you should do "it aint hard to tell" video...poetry in motion...
Halfman Half Amazing 🐐
Nas is a god
Desert Eagle is a big caliber pistol its mostly intimidating and loud but hard to actually use well.
The slide sliding back when discharged is like a train de-attaching and re-attaching itself.
This is what the movie Juice with Tupac and Omarr Epps is all about.
Nas coo he got bars and dat East Coast flow fasho dat's what's up. ✌🏿
Great to see kids into this golden age sound👍🏾
I love seeing every bloggers reaction at the beginning of the second verse.
PRICELESS

I zoned out the same way listening to that 3rd verse the first time i heard this song. Blew my mind and made me sad at the same time.
NAS is an OG !
THE OG!
NAS LADIES AND GENTLEMEN...NAS!
Thanks for the reaction, Queen 👑! I was hoping you'd do this one.
It's crazy the run Nas is on. A soloist who always gave the most intelligent and unique art. For me... After Rakim.... Nas is next. Debates can be had but i don't like to bring division. The dude just been NICE from day one.
No I saw you caught it! He was rapping from the point of view of a Gun. Cool reaction
Before this, there was "Stray Bullet"
a joint by "Organized Kunfusion"
Pharaoh Monch and Prince Po.
Please get to it...
Wait until you hear:

2 months later & we're still waiting.
lol
There's sooooooo many songs you should do. Every album, even his down ones still have crazy metaphors and lyricism and he's always got great producers making beats for him.
Subscribed off of this reaction. ❤
Had to click on the thumbnail to hear the Goat!
The word for Nas' line after line wordplay at the beginning of the second verse is called continuity, youngun.
Welcome to 1996
When the song started you had the hard face like you was on the block about to snuff somebody
Two of the most prolific nas song( Rewind )him telling an entire story in reverse, and ( no ideas original ) the best word play 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
The hook was, how you like me now I go blaah its the shit that moves crowds making every ghetto file, ect ect. the part he repeated.
Yo! Don't get it twisted it's hard to find any joint by "Nas" that isn't dope! But stop playing & dig in the crates, check out the greatest joint Nas has ever done already. Cuz you're missing out on his best one "N.Y. State of Mind" ya dig? +Peace, Rap & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
*NaS= G.O.A.T!!!*
Black Rob - Whoa! Check this one out. 💯💥💥💥💥💥
Why? The beat?
You pretty asf 😍
Nas actually “borrowed “ 😉 the concept of his song from Organized Konfusion (Pharaoh Monch) and their song Stray Bullet that they released first where they were rapping from the perspective of a bullet fired from a gun and hitting innocent people.
Song is dope but Nas caught some criticism back then from the real hip hop crowd for stealing an idea.
Not true at all , organized confusion are from queens they know Nas since kid , they never said a bad word about Nas , there's a interview about it . And this song got overlooked.
@@casteltheghettomonk4392 You don’t know what you’re talking about. I remember when both songs came out, and what most people were saying at the time.
Nas came out with this song 2 years after Organized recorded theirs and nobody said that they said anything bad about Nas. They just recorded their song first.
@@Docmananoff wait and bait 🪤 the what that Pharaoh himself said is no big deal and you talking shit = hater , jealous ass 🤡

Crazy that this generation actually don’t listen to lyrics anymore. I think the access to the internet made people lazy.
When nas album drop I actually went to the library to look up the shit he was saying.
Then by the mid 90s we use to print his lyrics at the library when the internet started to grow.
How the hell do you not listen to the lyrics? What’s the point then??
