  • I tried to hold off, but that lasted about a week. I was mesmerized by the demo videos and had to try one out. Was the Fender Tone Master Pro worth it?

    👌 good to see you onboard 100% Doug. The Tone Master Pro got me back into this game. Very simple and intuitive to operate. Keep the videos coming. Great job. ✌️

    I'm with you dude. I'm not a big fan of deep, deep control. After all, in the real world you just have the knobs in front of you. I think Fender has done a great job with the look and feel, the touch screen and the GUI. I haven't played one yet, so I'll reserve judgment on how it sounds until then but quite honestly, I think this might be the modeller for me.

    I bought one because it has the same amp modeling used in the Fender Tonemaster amps which have gotten good reviews comparing the amps to the tube amp versions.
    That seems like a good start for a floor unit if you like Fender amps. And then it has the other amp types also.
    The sounds of a Princeton, Deluxe, Super, Bassman and Twin are not a bad start for variety (if you like Fender amps). The addition of 50's tweed models would be very good.
    A lot of musicians do gigs with only a Deluxe Reverb and a few pedals.

    Really like the simple common sense points you have shared ... great video ... the Tone Master Pro makes sense, and yiou don't have to be a digital engineer to operate and generate great sounds ... I'm purchasing!!

    Very good vid, this road is wide open, Fender knows most customers just want a box they can use . They know their main customer is not a working musician so it has to fit Both Types of customers , they also know there are many closets full of pedals that were not user friendly . They can add a lot of Auto-Tune type voice transformers so the slate has exciting possibilities

    The TMP is best sounding gear among my others, FM9, Axe-FxIII and QC... The 8core cpu will bring you to another level of fantasy domain via upcominh formware updates soonest.

      Yeah it's funny how initially so many UA-camrs were sour on the TMP before they even really have it a chance. Kind of like the Silver Sky PRS. Now I'm seeing a slow but steady change of the more open minded reviewers starting to subjectively come on over to the Fender camp now it actually give it a fair chance and realize it actually sounds good.

    You sound great with this! I have the Helix HX Stomp. I hated the presets, didn't like the UI, and gave up with it pretty quickly. The FM3 has much better tones, but I need to plug it into my laptop to make any edits because it is so awkward to use. This is so easy to use! The few amp models it has sound great. Can't wait for some tweed and silverface amps to be added.

    I have a Fractal AF3, Headrush Prime and the Fender TMP. If all 3 units were able to be returned, I would keep 2 of them......the Fractal and the Fender TMP. The Fender sounds great and is super easy to use. My first two FW update wishes would be that it allows block presets and the ability to save presets to the SD card or via USB to my computer.

      I’ve got the original Headrush pedalboard. I play it live quite allot but have been eyeing the new tmp. I play only country and some low gain rock/blues. Do you think the fender sounds that much better than the Headrush? For the clean fender country sound especially?

    • @2550marshall
      @2550marshall Рік тому +1

      @@blakeabernathy4051 I'm not a country player so, I would not be able to give a fair opinion on that. Any tones that are Marhsall type, I like much better on the TMP. I was not impressed with any of the amp modeled tones on the Headrush Prime. It does the amp cloning thing very well but that to me, is about it.

    Todays multi effects pedals come down to which one is the easiest to use for the person who is using it. I've watched more reviews on these types of pedals than I can count and used many as well. With very few exceptions you can get the sound you want from any of them. There are some differences that may sway some like if you can adjust the effects loop start/stop point, does it have an effects loop, how's the construction etc. I'm sure 99% of good guitarist could dial in the tones they're looking for in whatever pedal is in front of them.

      Yes - I put out a video a few weeks ago explaining it. I wanted to branch out from just doing Fractal, so I've added other modelers and profilers to the channel. A name change was warranted.

    Firmware updates either make or break these modelers and Fractal does this better than anyone. 2 or 3 per year from Fender NOT very good for the users. I also think Fractal is just as easy to use as any I have owned. I jumped on the QC band wagon when it came out but soon found it was not even close to my AX3 no matter how easy it was to use so I sold it. I'll keep my Fractal gear because its been proven and used by many big names over the years. I do think Fender looks better than the Quad so far and time will tell.

      I really did not hear a big difference between Helix, Axe FX, and Quad Cortex. Helix is a little trickier to dial in but I didn't find anything all three couldn't do just fine sound wise.

      Are you on The Gear Page? Huge thread there, with Senior VP's who have been on this project for 4 years, saying clearly they plan on firmware updates every 3 to 6 months, including adding amp models they have been working on, Soldano etc, beyond what was released.

    Just think about all the money and time you spend on tweaking digital crap like this, headrush, line 6, etc that you could’ve put into real amps and gear. No more “if you spend a lot of time with it you can make it sound pretty good”… I can understand why someone may have 1 modeler but you appear to collect these things as a hobby.

    • @DougBsDigitalDen
      @DougBsDigitalDen  Рік тому

      I got rid of my amps and 2 large pedalboards to go digital and haven't been happier. Of course it's my hobby! How many guitars, amps and pedals do you have?

      @@DougBsDigitalDen Nothing wrong with collecting real gear, I own and continue to buy more gear every week. I just don’t see the point in collecting digital modelers but to each his own. Modelers are a nice fallback when needed but at the end of the day, these all in one digital systems are all just one big giant compromise just in different tidy compromised packages.

      Compromise? In what way? I’m an active, gigging player and went all digital about six years ago. This is way more flexible and convenient than my old rig in every way. At least 80% of other players in our circuit are all digital as well. I see no compromise at all.

    • @EJH-jn6mo
      @EJH-jn6mo Рік тому

      @@marksh24 I have a owned a number of modelers and still have an axeFX3 and FM3. They are always a secondary option. if you don’t hear a tonal difference or feel a difference between analog and digital than good for you. At the same time, you may want to get yourself checked out.
