This is definitely the best video I've seen on the Tone Master. I absolutely love how in depth you go with the products that you get. Practically leaving no stone unturned. Best channel 10/10
I'm interested in what Fender can do in the modeling space with their budget. I think it might push modeling to another level with a manufacturer like Fender jumping into it.
It honestly sounds incredible! I'm especially happy they have the 5153 Stealth, which has become a dream amp for me recently, and gives me hope we can get more EVH stuff moving forward One thing I think would put them ahead would be giving us the more obscure Fender stuff (like the MH-500), because everyone and their mom has profiles and takes on the twin deluxe, princeton, etc etc. Kinda like how I wish Line 6 would give us an Ampeg vh140c model, though I understand amps like that are discontinued, I think companies should use what they have to their advantage
UI looks awesome. The way the scribble strips display the parameters you can edit with the switch-knobs actually makes this a reasonable way to replace a pedalboard. The main thing I miss from my modelers is the live tweak-ability that this would provide. Sound is good, initially seems there's some top end fuzz that needs to be cut out with a LPF. Needs a direct comparison with other flagships, my impression is that it's a step behind the big guys, but who knows.
New sub here! This video has nothing to envy to much bigger channels in terms of content and quality! The icing in the cake was the simultaneous comparison with the power amp and real cab! Nobody is doing that on new reviews lately. I think it would be awesome to see further videos like this comparing to current and old modelers! Saludos desde España!
Wooooow. IF/WHEN I am looking to move from pedals and amps into this realm, this will be on the list to definitely consider. I get really freaked out by option paralysis in units like this, but I'm definitely a fan of the details Fender has not skimped on at the same time.
Looks and sounds amazing! I just noticed that Neural dropped the price on the QC today as well. Coincidence, I think not lol. In your opinion, which one would you buy?
It seems like a really expensive Fender GTX100 amp in a floor model with a few cool options. Always thought the GTX was a sleeper of a combo amp. For that price and not modeling, it needs way more amps to choose from (ENGL, Soldano, more EVH, More Bogner, etc).
Another anxiety inducing, option paralysis device, lol. You make everything sound great! Was hoping for a review of the new Friedman unit, which is in route to my home.
I love that the real cab sounds better than the ir’s. This is how I would be using it myself. This one has hit my radar now. I’m interested but $1,700 is a bit steep. I’ll wait for a good used price for this.
In two years these Gen 1 TMPs will be priced at what they should have been from their inital release. $1700 is a miss. I understand they're trying to play in the premium space but that price is a big ask.
It sounds great but I think it's entering a market full of great sounding options. At this point it comes down to which user interface and form factor do you prefer.
bingo...Also, what is their plan for it long term? It looks to be very well built, the U/I seems fairly intuitive, and the sounds (the ones I've heard so far, at least) are really really good, so I can definitely see Fender selling a fair bit of units to younger guys in bands who gig regularly or are getting into the touring game for the first time, but what can it do to get older and/or more established guys to jump ship from Fractal or Line 6? that last bit is critical if Fender wants to really play ball
I'll admit it doesn't sound bad. But for $1700, your money obviously goes much MUCH farther with an FM9. I think Fender really backed themselves in the corner pricewise, because of the Tone Master Amps. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they drop a core "blues club" next year for $999. edit: After checking out some other videos and really listening to the drive sounds especially for the British style amps, I sort of take back what I said. they don't sound horrible, but they don't sound $1700 good either. Its going to be interesting to see comparisons between this and all the other modelers that's for sure.
I really like the idea of this thing. I wanted a tone printer like the tone x or the Kemper but this thing is more well rounded and your demo showed me I can use my own cab with the thing which I’ve heard doesn’t work well with these kinds of units and you definitely overcame some objections I had with the unit based off of user reviews. I really like the amps in it and I need a flexible situation that functions well live because I’m a metal guy but I want to do worship at my church as well so I need all the effects which seems to be where the tone printing devices are lacking. Not to mention the difficulty to change on the fly
From what I've seen, this is a great entry. As long as they properly support it, I think it'll do good. The sounds I've heard from it are really good and I think the form factor is really nice actually. I have a Helix floor that I love, but I have to say this Fender unit actually intrigues me.
Its totally bad ass how far reaching and forever universal EVHs stamp is....his equipment STILL dominants the most extremes of music. He embodies any type of raunchy, heavy guitar. Forever the man
Funny that I had just read a "post" on TGP where someone was like, "I really wish Fender would release a modeling pedal..." It seemed a lil bit contrived, and I was like... why? Well. I'd dare say it was propaganda. Looks suspiciously like Fractal's quality design mixed with a dash of Helix. LOL
I love this thing. I've replaced my helix based mostly on the UI. I have always hated having to use the Helix to make changes. This unit is just fantastic to work with.
I agree that Fender has done a great job with this floor modeler. If they continue to support it well with firmware updates that tweak the feature set and a user community develops to build presets that are shared out for others to use, then they will have a big hit. I would like them to add more high gain amps (Engl, etc.) to reach out to us metal guys further but I would expect that will come with time.
Sounds pretty solid. Granted, Thomas Blug still sells me on the Iridium and the Amp X. The amount how those products captures the tube amp sound and fill is unmatched so far with the nano tube technology not to mention the Iridium is budget friendlier. Although, the Amp X is about the same price range as this product. Regardless, digital is catching up extremely fast but if this and the other competitors products had a tube in it i believe it's gonna really shake the market.
Idk how Fender will fare in the market with this unit but I can say it is excellent. I understand that it has twice the number of cores than the QC. It is a powerhouse of sorts. The proper power cord and routing options are pro level. I am really enjoying the amp selection. It would great to see Orange, Hiwatt, and Engl models. I agree with you that it would cool to have all the EVH iterations. As far as workflow, it is really easy to use. The editor works smoothly. PS shop around and you will find a discount.
Is there a "digitech drop" style drop tune effect? If so, how is it? Do the pedals change patches as you press them down or as you release them? I hate how the headrush changes patches as you remove your foot
Even though the Tone Master sounds great, as for the posts I have seen,.. As a guitarist/vocalist for a band that plays in different tunings.. I find the Headrush Prime more useful.. So that is what I am striving for..
Sounds and looks great but its too mutch expensive. For the same money i can buy a Marshall studio Silver Jub + the Marshall matching 2x12 cab + a Boss Me-90 to connect in 4cm... For mutch less money, BOSS GT-1000 does it all, and in some cases even more! Cheers from Portugal 🤘🍺🇵🇹
Hmmm... I'm wondering how well this thing will works as a MIDI controller and fx processor, to replace a Line 6 HX Effects, switch an amp and operate Morningstar ML5 switchers for pedals and control other stuff... The scribble strips, colored switches, and ability to edit on the unit with a good screen and twisty stomps is alluring.
Definitely would be awesome with a cab bypass. I like to run a real cab like you do. Also, I’d like to see you move the mic around in the cab block and see if it got closer to your actual cab because the unit cab sounded more dead center. I think if you moved the mic a little more off the center of the cab on the unit it might sound closer to your real cab that sounds awesome. I do geeky matching stuff like that always if I own gear that in a modeler. Also, does it have a pitch drop? That’s an essential for me that doesn’t crap out.
@@TaylorDanley You already sent it back? If not just tell me if it craps out. I had a QC a couple months after it came out and I use it to tune up also a half step and theirs crapped out and fell all over itself and couldn’t keep up.
Same here. At this price point the TMP needs to throw everything at us. No capture/profiling is a huge miss. The feature that sold me on the Headrush Prime was the capture capabilities. I love the HRP and am glad I bought it. If I were to acquire a TMP it will be in two years on Reverb after the price is what it should have been at release.
This maybe just the beginning of the rollout with some of the features planned not implemented yet. But as the Taylor said there is enough already to compete in the modeler market place with other units in a similar price range. Would like to see reviews on the TM FRFR amp/cabs that were released at the same time.
I think I finally will sell my GT1000. The quad cortex almost had me, but with their update and not fullfilling promises bullshit they pushed me away. This Fender thing looks pretty solid. Thank you for the video.
@@D1rectedBy I've decided (once more) to stay with the GT1000. All in all I think it's a great unit, once you've learned the user interface. What convinced me, was Leo Gibson's video about latency test.
Great video, and great tone. I read that that this is supposed to be a very powerful unit, yet you were running out of DSP when a second amp was added. Does it have separate DSP paths like Fractal and Helix? That's typically how I am able to get a clean amp and a dirty amp in the same preset, along with also doing a wet/dry/wet kind of setup as well. Is that possible with this unit?
Yeah, it does, I briefly show that in the routing portion… though I don’t know if that allocates processing like it does on the quad cortex. Good idea to test that out!
How does it compare to the Fractal in terms of amp feel and effects quality? I love my fractal but man, the interface here looks so much better. Obviously quantity is much lower but does it feel and sound similar enough?
