Fender Tone Master Pro - Using The Line 6 HX One In STEREO!
I was thinking whether I should switch my presets with Switchlink to Scene. I hope there was an easy way to just transfer those presets with Switchlink to Scene, but I guess there is no way now other than going into each Switchlink preset and save that as a new scene. So far, I prefer using Switchlink as it shows how each sub-preset is different (i.e. it shows all the changes I made to the each sub-prest), but guess it will be easier to use Scene when I make a new preset...
You helped immensely with the installation path. I’d been puzzled, and was only getting error messages. Thank you!
Is it a good idea to have the base preset as a usable one, saves a slot i guess
This did not work on my FM9. I followed you steps. Do I have to put an output2 block in the preset? I did that but still only the output 1 controls any sound
Thanks again Doug!👍🏻
You are very welcome
I dont know if this is normal, but i set up my scene for mods and ambient and clean, but i want the overdrive pedals to be independent from any scene, but if I have a ambient and add an OD that I did that set up in scene, if I then switch to a clead ambient mod, and go back to my regular ambient, the overdrive is still there, when in the initial set up I did t have it there... anyone else having this issues where other pedals automatically get added to that scene, or is that how it's supposed to be
Yes, it's normal. In essence you 'added' the OD to the scene when you activated it.If you switch to a different preset and then come back, the OD won't be active in that scene. Your best option is to add another scene with that OD active.
@DougBsDigitalDen oh ok, awesome, I thought i was missing a step somewhere. Thanks Doug, and thanks for all the help in your videos
For months, Fender said this was an "undeveloped feature" instead of a missing essential. What modeler EVER ships with such a missing feature? Glad to see they finally fixed it / added it.
Great video, as always, Doug! Note that you can also click/touch the scene name at the top near the preset name. This opens a drop-down list of the Scenes that are available. Touch a Scene name and it activates the scene. This is very useful when programming from the hardware touchscreen. If you have a block open for editing, say an amp model, you can switch scenes by using this drop down menu and it keeps the amp block open for editing so you can see how the parameters change from scene to scene.
I'll add that to the next video, thanks Jason!
Thank you Doug for this masterclass. I love my Tonemaster Pro, the thing is i have to left it to go to work sometimes 😀.
You and me both!
Nice video als always, but can you also switch Scenes via MIDI?
Not yet, but I would imagine that Fender will probably add that functionality - and the sooner, the better!
Yes you can! In this new firmware update we added MIDI CC's for controlling the 8 Effects footswitches. Send the MIDI CC for the appropriate footswitch that has the scene assigned to it.
@@JStillwell-wm3ln Thank you. That is good to know. It would be great to be able in the future to just send the CC for a scene without involving any footswitches.
Thanks Jason - I was thinking that those particular MIDI CCs were literally for FX. Duh!
Invaluable! Thanks Doug you rock!
I'm glad it helped!
WOW, really cool how that works and I see why so many people have asked for this functionality. Based on information you've provided in previous videos, I created a workaround to kinda do the same thing when I needed more than just a simple rhythm/lead patch. This, I hope, will simplify that process. Looking forward to your next video to go more in-depth using scenes.
Now, with SCENES, we finally can configure huge Gilmour's presets with their variations to each song (just like on Line 6's snapshots and FractalAudio's AXE-FX III scenes).🤩
This is the best video on TMP Scenes I have watched. Very straight forward and easy to understand. Thanks Doug!
Thank you!
Great job
Can you please show how to use the Gig View with scenes? For example, let's say you have a 10-song set list, and all songs have 9 scenes, how would it look in terms of selecting the next song, etc? Much appreciated. Thanks for the great content!
I think Fractal has gapless preset switching on all models now.
I sold my Fractal modelers a year ago and Cliff had been working on making presets gapless at that time. Thanks for the update.
Fractal and Helix both suddenly added gapless switching right about a year ago...purely coincidence I'm sure.
Great explanation as usual - does a scene have its own dsp capacity or will a complex scene restrict other scenes in terms of dsp within the preset ??? Cheers and well done again
As long as the base preset doesn't exceed dsp limitations, none of the scenes will interfere with the other scenes in that preset. Thanks for watching!
Could you do a scene for Hotel California by the Eagles thanks
Excellent
Where do i find the cloud for downloading other peoples sounds? Thank you 😊
Access to the Cloud is found in the Pro Control app.
@DougBsDigitalDen do i have to use the app or can I find it online too on fender website?
It's only available on the app currently. I don't know if Fender will ever make it accessible on their website.
Thank you sir!
I wish we can send midi notes to trigger ableton clips etc
I'm curious - how does Ableton take MIDI notes and use them to trigger clips? I literally know nothing about Ableton.
@@DougBsDigitalDen In the upper righthand corner of the interface it has a midi map button. I have used various controllers like APC40, Quneo, and FCB1010 foot controller over the years and they all worked the same way where I could send midi notes on the buttons and in midi map mode you select a clip or most other action buttons while pressing the note in midi map mode and it will map to then trigger launching the clip or performing the action of the button when that note is sent. Also same for cc, you would click a virtual slider or knob on ableton midi map mode and then send cc by moving slider/knob/pedal on the device and they would map. I have been researching that I may be able to use Bome midi translator or max for live packs others have made to convert cc sends to midi notes to get this functionality with tmp so I will let you know if I get it working. i would like to have tmp replace my fcb1010 as that unit is really frustrating to program compared to the ease of tmp.
Best preset I found in my FM9 for soloing, I did not have to tweak it at all
Congratulations to the lucky winner!
Your videos are the best TMP training videos on the net. Thx!
I really appreciate that!
Thanks for the video Doug - quick question - can you switch through the scenes remotely with midi - i like to fully automate my show so I can concentrate on entertaining and not worry about tap dancing ???
Unfortunately not. Maybe in a future update?
@@DougBsDigitalDen Thanks Doug - appreciate your help
I was wrong. They added MIDI CCs that you can use to control the 8 effect footswitches.
@@DougBsDigitalDen Thanks Doug - I discovered that last night and tested it - it works exactly how I wanted - Thank you Fender you guys are amazing
Please tell Fender that their delays being limited to 30 ms as it's fastest delay time is not what we need for a mimic'd guitar sound. Zero to 320 ms was possible in the 70's. We need faster. 6 ms is common, and 16 is fantastic. 30 is too long. The capo was a step in the right direction for making a pitch shifter that can track closely. Please ask them to update this.
Sign up at Fender'a Discord server and you can tell them yourself. They listen to feature requests.
Doug, I have installed the 1.4 update and am falling in love with my TMP all over again! The "59 Bassman custom is the perfect sound for the main riff of Andy Timmon's amazing song "Electric Gypsy". No other effects or dialing in needed - straight out of the box. Been trying to get this sound for a while and the bassman works for me. Andy Timmons is also awesome!!
Glad you're liking the new update!
Hi - as a newbie if I wanted to hook up an FM3 to my guitar amp for now (setting the amp as clean and as neutral as possible until I get an FRFR) what cable do I need? An XLR to guitar amp input jack from out 1 on the FM3? many thanks! Enjoying your videos
Yes - an XLR-to-1/4" cable is what you need.
Doug, can you please do a video of how to use an external footswitch ?🙏🏻 I would like to leave my TMP on my desk 😃 Thanks
I would also like to see a video on this. Thanks Doug for all your great TMP videos!
Do you mean an external MIDI footpedal? I plan on doing a video about that probably in January 👍
@@DougBsDigitalDen Yes. I would like to leave my TMP on top of my FR12 and have foot switches on the floor that would let me turn the TMP switches on or off.
Thanks!
Todays guitar players are beyond spoiled 😂
restart was the hard part for me…does that mean turn off the power button? yes I needed this video to answer this confusing question thank you !
Glad you found it helpful!
Nope i dont hear it
Win some, lose some. Sorry!
"Where can I find the sources for the information?"
TMP Model Guide, available in the Download area on the Fender TMP page.
I was very much on the fence about getting a TMP, but I got one a week ago. Thanks for the work you put out supporting the TMP...it has been a real help!
I'm glad you like it!
Wow you convinced me i have to add this to my studios arsenal of guitar gear. I just got the Headrush Prime, but this unit adds to my want for modelers world of sound. Im a old timer and you young folks don't know how lucky you are to be a modern musician. I noticed fender brought back alot of amps of generations ago including on this modeler bass tones . Might i add your channel is the best explanation of this unit period your very through and fun to watch thanks !
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Jerry’s tone was always smoother with the envelope.
Awesome update!! Scenes!!!
Can we set delay time lower than 30ms now?
No, not yet
Question: Can you put two of the same pedal in a line-up? I can’t get enough sustain from a single pedal but have used multiple discrete pedals to get it.
Yes, you can.
WOOOOWW estoy tan feliz de esta noticia, y de nuevo, muchas gracias amigo Doug por estos videos, por favor no dejes de hacerlos, un gran abrazo desde Mexico.
WOOOOWW I'm so happy about this news, and once again, thank you so much, my friend Doug, for these videos. Please don't stop making them. A big hug from Mexico!
Holy 1970s Game Show Vibes, Batman!!!
Can you control 2 pedals via midi within one preset? I have a Strymon Big Sky and a Line 6 HX One. Id like to be able to change both pedals to a different patch within a TMP preset. Thanks
Yes you can!
Thank you Doug. You are my go to guy on all my TMP related stuff! God bless. I do look forward to your breakdown of all the goodies we just received.
You're very welcome! I'm already working on it. 👍
We need studio equipment models. Eq’s, compressors. I’d like to be able to record vocals through this. Run my mix through it to master. Run individual tracks through it. It would set the tmp apart from the competition.
That’s a great idea - I'm sure a lot of people would like to see some more studio-oriented features!
The tone is close, but the sound is in his fingers and brain
Yeah, but I can't clone that stuff yet 👍
Thanks!
Thank you so much! Glad you like it!
@DougBsDigitalDen thanks for these videos! I know that they can't be easy to make.
So they focus on the bass players hope to focus on acoustic on the next update
Great video. Thanks for doing it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
