... I was expecting a 4 rollers test!
The Tesla would somehow get off of the rollers, too!
(I'm obviously joking)
🤣
toads4ever why would it not?
@@simonw2631 All 4 wheels would be spinning and none would have traction
U mean Dyno?😂
0:22 So when does the test start? - Model 3
Future 4x4 with 4 electric engines onw for each wheel, will be awesome.
It's bad for braking(too much rotation mass) and turning(gyroscope effect). Also 4 reductions and motors are heavy and expensive
@@dragancrnogorac3851 the motor does most of the braking and you have an additional braking force by the regular brake system
buy Rimac
@@dragancrnogorac3851 Maybe on a Suzuki Jimny kind of vehicle
Rimac C-one and Mercedes SLS also.
Love how they brought the entire family in the Tesla! :)
:D
As an old Audi Quattro fan I have to say that Tesla is ahead of the game. They became better in 13 years only
i dont think that. 350ps/530nm (model 3) vs 250ps/370nm audi....rs5 would be better to compare.
Max Cohagen no. That would be absurd considering price
Max Cohagen rs5 is 3 times more expensive than model 3 lr awd in my country (Norway)
@@Haldexify Because of lowered price by the government. Its almost the same price here in Sweden
@@MaxCohagen this test is about traction, power as little to no effect in this matter
Tesla is drama-free, even getting up on the rollers.
Sir Gregory Electronic motors and differential vs mechanical. Electronic will always win
Nothing about Tesla but design of EV
@@nathanz.6769 Do you mean all 4WD EVs will perform this well?
@@UnrelatedNonsense Do you mean all 4WD EVs will perform this well?
@@UnrelatedNonsense Geeks care about that which is totally true. Regular customers will only know that the Tesla is much better than the Audi with traction.
Just learn the difference between EV drivetrains and combustion 4WD drivetrains before you comment. Whatever you are an Audi fanboy or Tesla fanboy.
Exactly. I’d love to see the difference for actual Snow Driving
@@NSUScooter just drive en EV and you'll feel the difference
Great comparison. As a former Quattro owner I know how good they are. The dual motor and high torque from the Tesla is awesome. I’d still prefer the build quality and looks from Audi, but for traction the Tesla is great.
This video is a perfect example of how much more advanced Tesla compared to traditional auto
Its not good off road, there is a video if the model x off road, also you can't put off road types on a model x. (SUVs should be able to go off-road)
@@jdmfan2170 there are heaps of videos where X is off-road. However you are missing the point, For a daily I bet any Tesla will outperform any daily ICE car on snow / ice road since Tesla's AWD is the best.
@@nikitapustovoi8987 yeah personally i like the tesla as a daily however there are other video showing the lengthy waiting time on repairing a tesla bumper and headlight. This put me off owning one.
@@jdmfan2170 The repairing timing was overblown as it usually happens with Tesla. For example, fixing any Mersedies / Porshe will take the same time as Tesla.
@@jdmfan2170
But that's not the purpose for which the Model X was built. Tesla never said it is an off road vehicle. But there are videos showing the Model X performs well on some rough off road terrains. Check out Bjorn Nyland videos, for example.
As a past owner of 4 Audi's I have always been impressed by quattro. Looking at this review it appears that my model 3 performance will be more than capable when negotiating the snow this winter.
It was just last week when I yet again got stuck on rollers while driving to work... Good thing that they are testing this to prevent any further problems.
You really don't know what is roller test about, do you?
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Of course I do, just trying to make this comment area just a bit less serious.. ;)
@@SINIS0RSA All right ;-)
*Was anyone else waiting for a 4 rollers test at the end?*
Well since the Tesla has dual motors front and back it wasn’t a really fair test however if you do Audi etron vs model x then you have a fair test Quattro power
Ésta si es una verdadera prueba de tracción, muy buen video demostrativo. Saludos desde Bogotá - Colombia... : )
Greetings from Poland :)
The tesla is Savage! While Audi fights for grip, Tesla just rolls off calmly lol
Both are fighting for grip. Audi just doesn't have enough low end power like an electric motor to move the vehicle from a stop.
It is a lot harder to put grip down only at one wheel in a heavily mechanical and complex system that is Audi's Quattro. Tesla in the other hand just brakes the wheel that doesn't has torque. It doesn't even cuts power from it. It's like gigantic fan but still it works better most of the time
@@MrCarguy2 yes it is indeed easier to make it properly in the tesla, 2 separate engines, no mid diff and they are all electric so a lot more feedback. There are cars with not much worse performance than tesla though, Audi is just not very good, though its getting better and better with every gen it seems.
@@Lucky8s it's not about power, the system doesn't even try to run wheels at low slip, unlike in other systems. This engine is a lot more powerfull that eg. in a jimny.
Piotr Sulej isnt in strange that Tesla just appeared 13 years ago and just smashes Audi with innovation..? If it would be for VAG to decide, we wouldnt have electric cars before year 2080..
I love that the whole family is in that Tesla :-D

Thank you! I would like to test the cars you mentioned but it is all up to volunteers, I'm not an automotive journalists with access to cars, just a private person with hobby :)
Wouldn't it make sense to have traction control off for both if testing the awd system then do it again off for fun?
I'm not sure if it's possible to turn TC completely off.
Thank you for tests!
Great comparison
Would the car mass be a factor? The AWD model 3 is about 1800Kg, no idea on the Audi.
For sure it is. It is harder task for heavier car. I think Audi is lighter than Tesla.
Audi did well and Tesla did even better. Quattro is one of the best AWD systems out there too.
Wait till tesla have the plaid drivetrain available and it'll be even better with dual motors at the rear and a single upfront
I guess that the main difference is that : when the driver was passing test in Audi he used all the power permanently while in Tesla he tried to control the acceleration. That’s all about this complicated test
These are the best attempts of both cars. No less, no more.
Here you can see that below certain rpm system won't react: ua-cam.com/video/9uytfTpU_3w/v-deo.html
And here you can see how other driver felt this level and added a little bit more rpm to make the system work: ua-cam.com/video/r3sXIfynGls/v-deo.html
Traction control doesn't work like that. It limits the power the driver puts to the wheels and controls how much spin one tire has compared to others. It looked like the driver was not pressing the gas pedal as hard in the Tesla because the traction control system is better and limited how much the wheels spun
No, Electric cars have motor for each tire and does not use differential system so it would never get stuck.
@@husseinalashwal6824 Tesla has two open differentials and two engines (one per each axle).
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers*motors, not engines in the Tesla.
Is it some diference between quattro & porsche awd system?
Depends which Quattro and which Porsche.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers ✌👌
I'd love to see an actual comparison between E-tron Quattro and what Tesla considers to be AWD (do they even have a name for it yet?) Perhaps a better comparison would also be Audi's new Quattro with Ultra Technology, rather than standard Quattro split.
Audi E-Tron vs Tesla X would be nice, but it will be hard to find these cars. So far here is Quattro Ultra vs Tesla: ua-cam.com/video/1n_iyYqm2rQ/v-deo.html

What about audi with haldex
Very similar to Ultra.
Крутящим момент у электрички с 0об/мин, ау ТФСИ ДВС минимум с 1250об/мин, вот и весь WOW эффект

Try it with a Panda 4x4 (80's)
It would pass only one test.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Ile silników ma Tesla?
Dwa.
I’m pretty sure Audi’s use haldex awd which means the rear wheels barely get power for efficiency untill it senses slippage usually takes a sec to adjust. The Tesla probably just does 25% power each wheel all the time
There is no haldex in A5. Besides new haldex systems do not work in a way that you described.
duszaniespokojna - 4x4 tests on rollers correct, Quattro Ultra is only for A4 allroad and Q5.
@@nathanz.6769 Quattro Ultra is for Q5 (all engines), also for A4 and A5 with 45 TFSI 246 hp and 45 TDI 190 hp. But that is Ultra, not haldex.

Snow test !!! 😏😏😏😏
Wow I'm impressed! the M3 Tesla is so much better, it's no even close!
It's basically just one technology beeing so much superior to the other one that it's basically even unfair to even compare them...
@@meamzcs tesla put a lot of work into the engineering and software to get these cars to work like they do, they make it look easy but you will not find many other EVs with the same traction capabilities.
@@miguellopez3392 It's just way easier to do with an EV... An ICE engine has a huge latency for control, an Electric Motor almost none. ICE cars have one engine for all 4 wheels, EVs (at least some. like this one) have one for each axle. Noone can tell me that this isn't mainly because of technology. If you put the etron up there it will probably do a bit worse but not much, give it 5 years and they will be almost the same...
@@meamzcs then again this is a car from a silicon valley start up and their first mass manufactured car, it's an impressive technical achievement even for a EV.
@@miguellopez3392 I'm not saying it isn't impressive, just not THAT impressive. Don't get me wrong, i am a huge Tesla fan and i am the first one to tell everyone about all the benefits and the superiority over ICE but for a traction control system it doesn't really matter if it's their first mass manufactured car. They already sell EVs since 2008 so they have a lot of experience already with it. And since it's way easier to do than with an ICE engine i would be kind of disappointed if it wouldn't completely destroy the Audi in this category.
Tesla outperform any car in any test and with the time they will become even better, manufacturers must be afraid
Comment!!
I think the Quattro will be better in snow
Check videos of Tesla owners at Canada an USA during winter and you may be surprised...
Wadim Brehm I drove many cars here in the alpine and I have to say the best cars Subaru and Audi. I've seen many Teslas who couldn't handle snow.
I've had haldex not the newest vmotion in my s3 and xdrive in my bmw and after that a model s 90D. The EV have way more grip but don't underestimate the weight

BMW XDrive should be included in test
It is, you can find it on my channel.
X drive is trash
Man, Xdrive is horrible
This really isn’t that fair due to the fact that they’re 2 different types of all wheel drive systems. Tesla’s is almost 50-50 and always on regardless of what situation due to the front and rear motors. Audi’s Quattro is as needed and can send that power to the rear wheels. A better test would be Subaru or a Mitsubishi Evo’s AWD compared to Tesla’s AWD due to the always on aspect of the systems.
This A5 has permanent Quattro based on torsen (40/60).
duszaniespokojna - 4x4 tests on rollers Yeah which can send/distribute power to where it needs to be. It doesn’t matter until the car senses it needs more power to the allotted tires. An even better comparison would be the Halidex equipped Audi’s like the A/Q3 or the TT even due to the fact that they allow less slippage for the allotted wheels. Not 50/50 regardless and both motors showing that they’re distributing the same power at the same time.
@@reach0halo There is a comparison of A4 with Ultra (so similar to Haldex) with Tesla. There is also video with Evo, which on rollers acts like with three open diffs.
Ok, go test - Tesla vs Audi eTron

Electric is here to stay, today. Just look at how all auto manufacturers are jumping on board
Tesla has two independent differential-rear and front. It has 2 motors in front and two in the back, they have different gear ratios so the torque on the front is lower, for high speed but still enough to pull the car well.
With two independent axles, It’s much easier this way
Nope. One engine at the back and one at front.
