3:56 that’s actually really good advice. You wouldn’t think finger oils would make a difference but, once that thing heats up, your finger oils are going to burn into the paint/finish
Got this for my 500 and it is absolutely what you want for this bike. Purrs when idling. Throaty on the low end of your gearing and then gives some nice loud chuts when you pull. Turns your rebel into the lean black panther it was meant to be. I really just wanted something that I could HEAR and was not impressed by the shorty but liked the sleekness of a smaller pipe for this bike. *I removed the baffle after about 1 month and have now been riding without it for 6 weeks and far prefer it without* Once I removed the baffle I started getting some very subtle but present pops and burbles on throttle-release or downshifts. Very satisfying. My dad rides the same bike but with stock exhaust and I get to hear them side by side all the time. If you are interested in changing it up, get this one. You can always save the stock exhaust and use it as a mailbox. Or an anchor for your boat. Highly recommend. I think all-in came to about $700 Canadian.
With the silencer I’d say it reduces the higher pitch and gives more emphasis on the lower tones. Not as loud overall but mostly on the higher pitches where it’s reduced
Well Burch....I did it. I finally bought my first bike. I just bought a 2024 Honda Rebel 500 SE. I also, based on this video, bought a Coffman's Thunder exhaust. I think I'll go with the muted version (silencer in...I like the throatier sound). Bike is being delivered tomorrow....exhaust gets here in about a week to ten days. Cannot wait. That'll give me a week or two to get comfy riding a little bit before I change the exhaust.
The 500 with the silencer sounds better than without IMO. Less likely to give you a headache during a long ride. The 300 with or without silencer is OBNOXIOUS. I'm also curious if you lose low-end torque with those open exhausts the way my Sporty did with the modified exhaust that it came with. That was why I went back to stock for my bike.
Man I remember watching your Video 3 years ago on the Shorty GP. Ended up ordering one for my 2020 500. Now relocated from Canada to Thailand I am happy to see you still in the game and with another preem review on yet an other exhaust...that I now need to buy for my new rebel here. Thanks :)
I bought the Coffmans Thunder exhaust because of this video. I have the 2022 CMX 500 SE, and i immediately fell in love with the deep growl. I finally added the Kellerman Bullet 1000 DF tail lights, and my bike looks and sounds awesome.
Great video. Is it possible you can make a follow up video recording the decibels like in your last video?! Makes it much easier to know how loud they really are, with or without silencers, as well as to other mufflers out there!
AWESOME and Nina's reaction was the cutest! I think she will like it.😁 Now she has her liscense I am looking forward to dual vlogs. Or am I just dreaming?🤔 Dom's bike sounds good too but I like the baffle better. I am not a screaming loud exhaust guy.😁 Stay Safe
I ended up running my Grom with Yoshi exhaust with silencer in. It's louder without it but the sound quality is much better with. I don't need that much volume but I love the note it throws. Silencers for the win.
I’m curious how the 300 would sound with the 500 stock exhaust. 🤔 the 300 does sound awesome but I’m afraid it’s still too loud for my liking. Still tempting to get it though.
Is it possible for you to do a video of this exhaust on the 300 versus the Vance and Hines? I'm debating between the two I want one that's going to give me the deeper rumble
Just for the grins Id almost like to hear the 500 with the original 300 exhaust. how quiet would it get? not that i think anyone is going to be making the bike even quieter. To be clear I don't think a redundant CAT is going to be helping anyone and it might even run a tad hot. Id just be interested to see what other sounds there might be hiding underneath the exhaust note. would you be able to pick out the chain on the rear sprocket? tires on the asphalt? is the valve train going to have an audible ticking/rattle? would you be able to hear the transmission whir more or less in different gears? what kind of induction noise would you expect? could you hear a sucking sound as you rolled onto the throttle? Definitely WAY over thinking this 🤷♀ Upon reflection I almost certainly had the wrong take away here. Definitely looks way gooder than stock. I like how the 500 barks with the baffle out. For sure needs the baffle on the 300 though.
BTW, do you need to do anything to the AFR tune in the 300 since you've now leaned it out (even more lean than they already come from the factory) by removing the cat that's contained in the muffler? If nothing gets looked at or changed for the AFR, do you at least keep a regular eye on the spark plug electrodes and insulator?
From what I’ve seen, the 300’s have been fine without any type of fuel management if it’s only an exhaust, but I’ll definitely keep an eye on things to make sure she’s running strong still!
hey burch i really like the sissy bar on the 1100 i really like the bare look. is that one compatible with the 500 or is there possibly another one that is similar? all ive been able to find is one with a back pad which doesnt look too bad but like i said i really like the bare look.
who go the Coffmans on the rebel 300(I have the 2017)? and is it quieter than the Two Brothers? I have the two brothers right now and its too loud and its getting annoying, especially on longer trips. The problem with the rebel 300 is that the CAT is built into the stock exhaust.

The shorty version’s been out for quite some time now actually. I’m just not a fan of the design since personally I prefer a more substantial exhaust. $400 is actually pretty good I think considering that all the other name brands like TBR, V&H, Arrow, Yoshi, etc. are $450 minimum and up to $600ish at the top end 😳 You can definitely find cheaper no-name exhausts on eBay/Amazon, but the quality isn’t gonna even come close to this.
The exhausts sound good! I can't believe how large the stock mufflers are! Almost like waste baskets. Will you get in trouble with the emissions popo for removing the cats? I just did a Yoshimura full exhaust on my xr150 here in the Philippines and it sounds like the quieter version of the 300 in your video.
I can’t believe an exhaust was removed in company of a friend and no one acted like it was a huge bong or made motor noises through it!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣. I’m immature.

HAHAHAH! 😂 Also, that 300cc sounds like a Benelli TNT 125cc without its catalizer pan! 🤣 I agree it sounds great on both but after an entire hour or a whole day journey of driving it, specially on the 300cc, the headache will even greater at the end of the day.😵💫😄 Greetings from Portugal! Have a great week!😉
The video on their website definitely did not do this exhaust justice. Definitely seems like it might be a worthwhile upgrade to make this thing sound a little beefier. The hollow, quiet stock exhaust has been kind of letting me down lately.
The 300 sounds like my Grom with a Vance & Hines exhaust on. The silencer makes no difference on the Grom. It’s a bit annoying. Now I have to go find my like new silencer and give it another go.
I'm definitely going to take a look at the 300 Exhuast. I'm still a bit hesitant because my bike came with a Shorty and some sort of twin exhaust that I can't seem to find online, and they're both completely unbearable. Awesome Video!

Hello I am that guy I have over 10k miles on my 500 and I personally love it. It's great on back roads and getting around town. I would not take it on long road trips over 2hrs personally not in stock form atleast!
Counting down to the "we got kicked out of our apartment complex" video.
3:56 that’s actually really good advice. You wouldn’t think finger oils would make a difference but, once that thing heats up, your finger oils are going to burn into the paint/finish
I just added this exhaust to my 500 yesterday (May 8th, 2023) and I like it! Like your friend Dom said, “sounds like it’s supposed to”
Yeah, the 500 WITH the silencer sounds better. 👍🏽
I was definitely pleasantly surprised at how it sounded with the silencer!! 😳🙌🏻
I tried to convince you guys during our last two meet-ups how awesome those Coffman's exhausts are! I told ya so, I told ya so! 🤣👍 --QM
Sometimes it takes me awhile to finally see the light 😅😂😂😂
😂🤣 I am willing to bet Quasi's comment had expatives in it.😂🤣
The Quasi is wise, the Quasi knows all.
I recommend hanging on to removed parts, especially the exhaust. You may never us it, but it effects the resale value considerably.
I bought the Coffman's for my 2023 Rebel 500. I left the Db killer installed. I love the sound. Great vid.
Hi, have you ever tested how loud in decibel it is?
@sam29152995 No I have not but it's nice
To hear you guys giggle and Nina's face was priceless.
Got this for my 500 and it is absolutely what you want for this bike. Purrs when idling. Throaty on the low end of your gearing and then gives some nice loud chuts when you pull.

Nina's reaction was GOLD!!
I'm 64, been riding since '82, and I don't know if Nina is your GF- but if she is, you really scored! She's just so enthusiastic about riding!!
Sooo loud and LOVE Nina’s reaction!!
I cur about an inch and a half off of the baffle's crimped end. No baffle was too loud and w baffle it was too quiet. I love it now. Perfect mix
Loved the look on Nina's face, when she heard her bike 👍and when your friend yetted his old exhaust out the yard 😂
Man fired up the 500 with the new exhaust and fell in love.
For real though!! 🙌🏻
I really did 😂😂
With the silencer I’d say it reduces the higher pitch and gives more emphasis on the lower tones. Not as loud overall but mostly on the higher pitches where it’s reduced
WOW. That makes the 300 sound so good and way better than my TBR I had on mine back in the day. I wish this was available when I had mine.
Right?! I was shocked that there’s actually a way to make the 300 sound good! 😅😂
Well Burch....I did it. I finally bought my first bike. I just bought a 2024 Honda Rebel 500 SE. I also, based on this video, bought a Coffman's Thunder exhaust. That sounds great! I pick up my Rebel 500 tomorrow and may have to order a Coffman to put on it now.
Ayyy congrats on the new bike!! 🎉 This would make a great welcome home present for it! 😂🤘🏻
A Tuesday video?!? Hell yeah
Yessirrr!! Was gonna do Weds/Thurs like my midweek videos typically are…but I got too excited 😂🤘🏻

It’s an awesome exhaust. I just put it on my 1100 a few days ago. I love it.
I’m saving for a Rebel 300 and though I probably won’t change the exhaust immediately, maybe someday I will cause that sounds amazing. Awesome video!
Picked up the blackout thunder exhaust for my 1100. Sounds and looks so much better!
Hell yea, glad you like it dude!! I LOVE mine! 🙌🏻
Man I remember watching your Video 3 years ago on the Shorty GP. Ended up ordering one for my 2020 500. Now relocated from Canada to Thailand I am happy to see you still in the game and with another preem review on yet an other exhaust...that I now need to buy for my new rebel here. Thanks :)
Man my Vance and Hines muffler for my rebel 500 drones when cruising in 6th gear. I wish I could return it and get this exhaust!
I bought the Coffmans Thunder exhaust because of this video. I have the 2022 CMX 500 SE, and i immediately fell in love with the deep growl.
I finally added the Kellerman Bullet 1000 DF tail lights, and my bike looks and sounds awesome.
Those exhaust look & sound so good! Coffman did nail it with making the exhausts for the 500 and 300 as well!
Yup, I ordered my shorty for my Rebel 500 in 2018 and still loving it! Thanks for the video. Vroom vroom.
Nice, glad to hear you’re still loving it after all this time! Thanks for watching!! 🤘🏻
Burch, the coffman's exhaust sounds great on both bikes the way you have them set up! Don't change them-BIG MISTAKE if you do! Doug👍😇😁⭐⭐⭐🏍️🧸❤️
I found my new exhaust. Thanks guys!
i have the Vance & Hines on my 500.. love it!! but this Coffman definitely sounds good as well
Great video. Is it possible you can make a follow up video recording the decibels like in your last video?! Makes it much easier to know how loud they really are, with or without silencers, as well as to other mufflers out there!
Mine is on the way. I asked Coffman as soon as I saw yrs on the 1100 and they said soon. I bought mine on the day it came up on eBay. Waiting. Malta.
They sound great the camera does not do it justice!!
Agreed!! Thanks again for your help dude! 🤘🏻
@@LifeOfBurch Anytime man!!

Yes love this! I definitely know what I'm doing once I get my rebel 500.
Great video! I have to say, out of all the exhaust I've heard, the Vance and Hines has the best sound on the 500.
The 500 sounds amazing!
The one thing I like about the stock exhaust is the visual heft it adds. Without it, it looks like something is missing.
I get that but without it, I definitely can get more aggressive in the corners and it feels a little lighter
I ended up running my Grom with Yoshi exhaust with silencer in. It's louder without it but the sound quality is much better with. I don't need that much volume but I love the note it throws. Silencers for the win.
the sound of the 300 reminds me of some of the quads we had in the past.
Definitely reminiscent of a quad/dirtbike with that thumper motor screaming! 🔊🤘🏻
Can I fit a shorty gp exhaust on my 2023 rebel 300 that is rated for 2022 and previous years?
I want to get one but not waste money if it doesn’t fit
Cannot WAIT to get out and ride. Rain rain go away!!☔️
Can’t wait to hear your first impressions when it’s finally dry enough for you to take it for a ride!! 😳🔊🤘🏻
I am super happy with my current exhaust, but ... Man does that look and sound good 👌 nailed it
Holy shot I found this vid now and you uploaded a day ago. Is the exhaust new on the market or something?
I would always keep the stock parts in store. they may always come in handy one day
I’ve been following your journey on the rebel wanting to get into riding and am considering a rebel I appreciate you
I’m curious how the 300 would sound with the 500 stock exhaust. 🤔 the 300 does sound awesome but I’m afraid it’s still too loud for my liking. Still tempting to get it though.
Thanks for this vid, and sorry about your experience. I'll probably put off buying this bike this year.

I think I'm going to get one for my 500
Sound great. Im gonna get one on my Rebel 1100
Do it man, it’s sooo worth it!! I love mine!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
@@LifeOfBurch yes sir. I’ll send you my video when I get mine on there
I would have bought that Rebel 500 stock exhaust.
Are you local? It’s a bit banged up, but I still have the stock muffler from the wrecked Rebel 500 series if you need one.
I have the stock from my '23 rebel. It's in perfect condition. As Burch mentioned, if you're local we could all make this work for you.
the dopest exhaust company ever
I always forget how slow these things are despite how loud they are
Those sound great, but for my money the Yoshimura R-34 sounds dope and looks stylee as hell

Hey, question, awesome video .
Do i need tune after putting the exhaust?
So it wont run lean?
Rebel 500
Thank you.
Sounds great! Does the Coffman drone on the 500?
I haven’t found much drone but you definitely need to short shift in neighborhoods if you want to be quiet lol
Why did you need to remove the finger prints before starting up the first time? Im going to replace mine soon and that was something new for me.
The 500 sounds quieter than the 300 for sure
Why are there differences in sound levels and anticipated set-ups between the 2 sizes of engines of the same bike?
Now I'm contemplating replacing my shorty gp with that....
DO IT. This is sooo much nicer!! 🙌🏻🤘🏻
@@LifeOfBurch Maybe after my next paycheck 🤔
Will this exhaust make it easier to put a rear stand on the bike. Or will it get in the way like the stock exhaust does?
I can’t say for a fact since I haven’t tried yet, but I’d imagine it should be way easier to use a rear stand with this! This is waayyy smaller than the stock muffler and also doesn’t stick back nearly as far.
They are making a shorty version which is going to be 289 which I think will be a lot better at $400 it seems awfully high

I just did a Yoshimura full exhaust on my xr150 here in the Philippines and it sounds like the quieter version of the 300 in your video.
I have seen comments about the possibility of shorty exhausts throwing codes. Have you experienced this with the 300 ?
I have a 300..ive been dying for a aftermarket pipe to actual sound good...is it worth the buy?!!
I can’t believe an exhaust was removed in company of a friend and no one acted like it was a huge bong or made motor noises through it!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣. I’m immature.
Didn't even hold it next to crotch and act like its a huge d*ck. smh
Dang we missed some opportunities
And the 1100 as well!
Any issues from the 300 not having cat?? Engine damages, legal trouble, smog issues, fuel economy, engine power loss etc. I wanna delete cat and add exhaust but i dont wanna have to possibly screw myself by doing so. I just wanna be heard on the road 😭😭
12:46 it sounds like baseball card in the spokes good :-) it does sound good.
Hey I got a 2023 Honda rebel 300 I’m looking for the best looking and sounded exhaust not too loud but louder then stock?
With the CAT delete on the 300 wouldn’t you want to get it tuned in some manner to get the AFR correct??
Was there any top speed difference on either bike with the New Exhaust?
By the way, where did you get the highway bars on the 300? I have some on mine that don't extend out very far and I'm not sure how effective they will be.
The 300 sounds like a dirtbike lol. I love it.
Curious how replacing the factory muffler/cat converter on the Rebel 300 is not a federal violation for tampering or removing a mandated emissions control component? Doesn’t the change kick out a code on the ECM that can be read during the annual inspection?
Here in maryland motorcycles are not checked
Does this have a throatier deeper sound than the Vance and Hines? I'm trying to decide between the 2. I like the Vance and Hines better for the look. But it's more expensive
How does it compare in regards to DB noise level to the M4 exhaust? is it higher than 97db? Thanks in advance
What exhaust is on the 1100?? Thinking about getting one and I like your sound!
Do you know what rear seat and cargo bracket that is on Dom’s bike and where I could get it?? Love the vid!

Very nice video and comparicing between the sound on the 300 and 500 👍 Why does Dom's 500 have a different tail light ?
