@@kylelee8685 Harley managed to be impressively both stone age in terms of technology and yet ridiculously unreliable. That is an achievement and a half, to be that shit in terms of ride, suspension, steering, design, engineering, image, marketing and its riders is a rare thing indeed.

I am a firm believer that no matter the bike, it’s the same breeze on your knees. But as someone who’s bike is my main mode of transportation and has put almost 24,000 miles on my bike in the last 11 months, I am extremely satisfied with my 2015 road glide special. The 103 ain’t fast, it don’t like sharp curves at 90 mph, but you can stretch out, listen to music and burn up 5.5 gallons of gas without stopping to wake your buttcheeks up. It’s my “Roadcliner”
Yes if youre doing that mind of miles on a bike in a year things like hypernaked budget bikes start to struggle. A big giant vtwin with a winscreen, storage from the getgo, gps built in, big gas tank. If you can afford it its worth it. 800 miles each way sucks on a motorcycle compared to a car anyway but if irs on a bike like that it really closes the gap. Max hp doesnt matter when you flick the cruise at 81 for the next 500 miles. Its rrally nice when youre at 85 and the motor isnt begging for mercy. That bike will handle much higher milage than a smaller engine really strung out. Even you look at thr indian scout 1200 its definely plenty of power for cross country but 400 more 500 600 more what really is it? I had a kawadaki vulcan 1600 and a vulcan 2000 in the garage at the same time they were both the same year. the 2000 got better fuel economy 😂 but ut weighed a lot the 1600 weighed a lot. It was very nice on the interstate but sucked at slow speeds
Personally I need to step off my bike every two hours for Fuel, food or to urinate. Not a huge sacrifice as a rebel owner. Plus I can afford better quality food to eat since I saved $7k
Yammie kind of hit the nail on the head when he talked about the price vs what you are getting. He's absolutely right. With Harley, most guys are spending more for the name than for actual all around performance. I understand there are niches, but when you put pen to paper, you can almost always spend less and get more when it comes to other bikes vs Harley.
The Honda is superior on performance, but the HD premium feel and finish blows it away. I'm not a big HD fan but I can't hate on it either-- people buy them for what they are. The HD is cooler simply put even tho it lacks function compared to others.
@@bryanrose20 There's also that. HD can be hated on for many things-- especially related to management and lack of diversity in models but can't be hated on for style, coolness and sound which is why people buy them and why they hold value.
@@ianmcgowan4347 I own an 09 ultra classic now haha. love it. Would love to have a sport bike as a number 2 bike in my garage but baggers really can be do it all bikes.
I have ridden the 107 and 114 back to back on the same day on the same route. The difference in power is unnoticeable. Out of the Harleys I rode that day, the sport glide was my favorite.
Yeah big difference from the big Indians. the 111 and 116 are night and day different even if the power difference isn't huge, the 111 is butter smooth, the 116 is tuned to feel "fast" so runs rough and has really jerky throttle response. Most of the M8 Harleys have really smooth throttle response.
I didn’t get a chance to test my sport glide as stock 107, dealer already had it as stage 1. I found it pulled harder than the stick low rider s, that tune is night and day, wonder if the 114 wakes up more? Doesn’t matter, it’s enough for what I use it for. I traded an FJR1300 for it, big difference is the SG doesn’t turn into a fog when I go 2 up with luggage like the FJR did.
I wouldn't say that the difference was unnoticeable for me, but not noticable enough to regret my 107 Street Bob. When I rode the LRS with the 114 I noticed that making a bit more power meant that the motor turned a bit slower at any given point, like 45mph in 3rd gear. I was also able to roll up in speed a bit more before upshifts in each gear. But is that even just the extra inches? I don't know if the primary and final drive gear ratios are the same for the 107 and 114.
@@johnraconteur1723 The difference in engine speed is due solely to gear ratios. If you put a good intake, a proper 2 into 1 exhaust and a stage 2 torque cam on your bike (with professional tuning) you will destroy a 114, and most other non sport bikes on the road.
Story time. Been riding since 2016, not long, but finally I had my first "real bike" experience in 2021. Went to a gas station on my FZ07 (best commuter daily IMHO) and an older guy was eyeing it. He came over and asked the size of the engine. I replied "700, but maybe high 600," and almost on a script he said "you need to sell that and get a REAL bike next time." Honestly I thought these interactions were just sketches you guys did haha.
@@tinman3586 boom this! Ignorance knows no age. I ride a 1997 sportster that runs mid elevens in the quarter and I would love to have an fz 07 in the garage. Or maybe a cb600r, hell a duke 390 might be a hell of a lot of Fun.
@Thomas B I already bought a new Yamaha mt 07. The price was low enough to pay cash for it. Dollar for dollar it's really a fun motorcycle. But the main reason I chose it is the riding position. The seat to pegs ergos really help with my arthritis in my hips. Also the lack of electronic features was a big plus for me. Parts left off of a design will never fail.
Usually, that's the guy that knows nothing about bikes and just drank the Kool-Aid that he bought a "real bike". You ride whatever you want and enjoy it. I've ridden lots of different bikes and am happy just to see other people out there riding whatever floats their boat.
Best Yammie rant ever. "You don't have to live like this". Hilarious! Completely agree. If you have ridden bikes from different brands and motorcycle segments and you still love your harley, that is great. What I don't like is how many people tell me that they are the greatest bikes ever made but haven't ridden anything else. I grew up dreaming of a harley but then I rode a few of them. I will never spend my hard earned money on that when there are so many bikes that are so much better. In my opinion that is.
@@kalasmournrex1470 you wouldn't take it on a 2 to 3hr one way trip either. If you did, you'd be hating life for a few days to a week afterwards. I've owned a ZX6R, super fun, has it's place. Also owned a MT-07, also super fun and has it's own place. My 2020 FXFBS just ticks more boxes for the type of riding I like to do. For the record, I rode 1400 miles in a trip and was not sore one bit. Different tools for different jobs.
When the bike starts weighing 800+lbs and has a cup holder and a trunk I just call it a car. I'll take bar risers over spending $20k to look like I'm riding to my dialysis appointment😁
I test rode 2 HDs back in 2019. They were perfectly competent machines but (GASP!) I just wasn't impressed enough to go into debt for one. I guess I really expected to be impressed and it it didn't happen.
I love, LOVE this video. As it happens, my wife has a 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 DCT, and I have a 2020 H-D Slim FLSL. We both added Viking saddlebags. We both love our own bikes for different reasons. I have to admit, though, that the Honda is surprisingly comfortable and a joy to ride.
I could care less about what bike you ride, as long as you ride. I ride 15k miles per year on my Rebel 500, regardless of weather. No rain gear, no heat grips, no bluetooth, no battery tender, no windshield, no padded seat, no pin lock, no highway pegs, no excuses just leather. Don't pretend to be king of the road, when your bike has been waiting for perfect weather. See you on the road.✌
All the Rebel needs is a nice comfy aftermarket seat, and a bit taller, and closer handlebars. Speed Seven handlebar risers, and a Corbin seat would make it almost perfect for longer rides.
I've actually sold my rebel 500 and ordered an 1100, but I did go and ride a Fat Bob today, just to see what you can get out of a Harley. It was a nice bike for sure, but it feels less powerful than the 1100 even though it's 1800cc, and a lot less nimble, so I guess it mirrors what you saw with the Sportglide.
@@Iffy50 I didn't say that the Fat Bob was less powerful, but it feels less powerful. The rebels power to weight ratio is 0.3632 HP/kg and the Fat Bob is 0.3176 HP/kg, so it does make sense that it feels more powerful :)
Metrics take a beating on trade ins. The real bike thing, personally, you are overstating that. No one in my circle says that. You know who I've heard say that? The rider that just traded his metric and is new on HD. TBH, no one really cares.
@@Foodgeek Curious was is a stock Fat Bob? My understanding is that out of the box the HD needs an exhaust, intake and fuel remap just to undo the governmental restrictions. Admittedly I don't know much about this stuff but I'm curious if it had all those things if the Rebel would still feel faster.
Every time I see Yammie riding a big cruiser......first thing I think is.."here he goes....he's going to try and lean it around corners and call it non responsive "
The price is more for the Harley because you get an all metal bike compared to the plastic Honda. And let’s face it… right or wrong the Harley holds it value while the Honda doesn’t at all.
@@piratekingthaszar7912 I don’t know about you but I certainly see more old Harley’s still on the road then Hondas or any Metric. Just a personal observation.
I'm 6'1'' my Fatbob when i'm on highway drives like a dream. It has good balance. But the front feels like I'm trying to move an anvil to turn it at low speed.
I wondered, "Will that massive engine beat the Honda 'girls bike' off the line?" Why did I even entertain that idea? Apparently there IS a replacement for displacement - performance.
When they say no replacement for displacement they don't mean performance or max hp. A trx850 makes 85hp a R 6 makes 125hp can you explain why the trx is still better even when it was almost 50% more money to buy than the R6.
I recently rode five different Harleys in one day at a demo ride at Laguna seca. By far the Lowrider S and the Sport Glide were my favorite. That 114 is punchy up to 100mph and I couldn't help but break the rear tire loose when gunning it from a stop. Keep in mind I've only bike I've really ridden my R6 and I've put 6k miles on it this year. I will soon but a crimson Lowrider S.
I keep a Z900 and a Vrod in the garage, and I totally understand having to FIGHT to get the Harley on its side in a corner. But.. it's just kinda fun. Plus, going back to the Z feels like a goddamn rocketship afterward lol.
Z900 is the bomb. It's comfortable but not upholstery, it's quick but not uncontrollable, it's stable but not sluggish, it's inexpensive but not cheap.
@@zachwehde4866 ahhhh that's tough! The Z is great for just around town riding and quick sprints through the countryside, but the Vrod just has a more badass presence while comfy enough to get out of town for a few days. As a Sport Glide owner i have to admit: This video is really accurate. Still love the bike and didnt regret to buy it, neither at short nor at long distance trips.
Hey Guys, Great video! I live in the Netherlands and just bought myself a Honda Rebel 1100 MT: looked for a low-weight, fairly-piriced, well-handling, reliable, good-Looking and fun-to-ride bike and my Rebel ticks all those boxes for me. I guess I myself have to compensate for the lack of the Harley Davidson ‘coolness’……😁
The Harley looks great and the luggage is an added bonus. I wouldn't look seriously at any bike without that any more. Going on a bike with a backpack like so many do these days isn't my idea of a good time. A bike that heavy should have dual disks up front though.
@@pjinxhacks9568 my bike had luggage with it when I bought it and for the first bit I kept it off because the bike looked lighter and sportier. For that bit of time I'd take a backpack along but soon learned that wasn't great. I put the luggage back on and use it all the time. Convenience outweighs sporty for someone like me 99% of the time now.
Started with a soft tail, ended up with a Road Glide. Have had it for eleven years and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m getting to that age where this is more than likely my last motorcycle. Unless I buy a trike.
Im european, have had 4cil japanese stuff, old 2 stroke sport things (NSR, RD), even classic 6 cil italian things (Benelli 900 sei) etc etc... And now i own a Sport Glide, and cant be more pleased. I wanted a bike i could ride at "mostly" legal speeds and not get anxious about it if you know what i mean; i dont "want to want" to do triple the speed limit. I enjoy the Sport Glide even while stuck in heavy traffic. I have done a couple 650km rides, with the control cruise at 135kmh just like nothing, and enjoy scratching the pegs on the road when following my friends BMWs or Multistradas too. The bags are great, the sound is great, kids (and girls) look at it when you are waiting for a traffic light, people take pictures when you park, ask you about the bike... You can drive a Mercedes CL, or you can drive a Rolls-Royce Corniche. The Merc is clearly better, but i´ll take the RR.
Living in the midwest the "get a real bike" is comically accurate. Even if the person saying it has never even ridden any motorcycle. I love the community of riders around, but sometimes the Harley guys really poison it.
Can confirm, I live in the Midwest. My father-in-law rides a CVO. I’ve got a T100 Bonnie and he frequently asks when I’m gonna get a real bike and I’m just like, “I don’t want to ride something that weighs 4-5 times as much as I do”
@@dsc9894 Yup, my father in law was the one who got me into riding, and is always asking when I'm going to get a Harley haha. The size doesn't bother me, I'm a big guy and have no problem riding big bikes. A friend of mine son just bought a Honda Rebel 1000 for his first bike because he wasnt confident with buying a 600-700 pound bike to learn on. His father and I both have HD touring bikes and both discouraged him from buying a Sportster because we are of the opinion that a Sportster is not a good beginner bike. He tested the Sportster and the Rebel and chose the latter. I rode the Rebel, it is a fine little bike. It is a great beginner bike, or to just cruise around town. But make no mistake about it, its not anywhere in the neighborhood of a Softail Harley. It is not something I would want to jump on the interstate and cruise for 2-3 hours or operate in high speed wind shere. It does have some nice little gadgets such as the traction control and braking settings and throttle selection. The only thing is no other bikes have that so one should not become dependent on that. All that being said though, it is a fine ass bike, he loves it and rides it more than he drives his truck, so thats all that manners. I would recommend that or the 500 to anyone, especially a beginner in a heartbeat. Im not necessarily a Harley snob though, I say whatever feels comfortable and gets you out there roll with it, everyone is different.
Americans just love heavy, torquey, beautifully styled machines. Yammie would take an old school BMW 2002 over a 69 Camaro. Americans traditionally loved body on frame rear drive beautiful vehicles with V8s. It's still the norm today as well as the full size SUV replaced luxobarge american cars of yesteryear. Big, heavy, and beautiful= American Taught, nimble, and over engineered= European It's just the way it is.
Great video, but it would be nice to hear y'all talk about maintenance ease and schedule/cost in your bike comparisons, as it tends to be a major part of the total ownership experience.
Had a 2020 Street Glide Special ...traded it for a 2019 Honda CB1000R...2 months later trading it for a 2021 Sport Glide...owned Suzuki and Indian also ..but really like the sound and feel of those Harleys.
So pretty much if you want a sporty, touring cruiser. Get a Rebel, get aftermarket forward controls, better seat, windscreen and bags and your done, the Rebel already comes stock with cruise control (cheapest bike on the market with cruise). Tank is a little small, but that 1100 isn't that thirsty, though the SG will definitely have way more fuel range as it has a 5 gallon tank and the 107 isn't too thirsty either.
Great review! I am happy to see this comparison of the Honda Rebel and the H-D Sportglide. I want to see such comparisons of such bikes. I enjoy the reviews of bikes that are not often reviewed together. Thanks so much! I ride the 2021 Honda Rebel 1100!
Yammie made an excellent point when he told cruiser riders to try different types of bikes. Indeed, sheer mass alone does not really give cruiser riders the planted advantage. I noticed this in my car while being passed by a group riding Harley bagger/dressers, & another on sport liter bikes. Those big muscled Harleys very visibly wobbled when accelerating to pass me. The crotch rockets were as steady as a rock.....& playing on that far away road. And this from a former Harley owner that thought there is nothing as good. Yeah, go try some other types of bikes.... it's good for you.😉
I suspect you'd enjoy the V Star 1300 (unfortunately discontinued). Free-revving liquid-cooled overbore engine with a 6,300 RPM limiter, comfortable mono-shock suspension, and 35/36 degree lean angles. Nimble for a cruiser, and comfortable enough for cross-country trekking. Stock, they run around 130 MPH, so no wheezing when ya' want to pass on the Interstate.
i been riding a royal star 1300 since it was brand new in 1999 and my father has been through 3 harleys since and they all have had their issues but not the yahmaha
Love my Sport Glide! Like any bike, it's not for everyone. It does everything I want it to do. Very comfortable, kinda quick and, not like every other Harley. I had a choice, I chose the Sport Glide.
I was working at a Harley / Triumph dealership and knew almost nothing about Harleys. One day while moving bikes I stumbled onto the Sport Glide and have been in love every sense. Yet to own own, but getting my student loans paid off first and celebrating with the Sport Glide. 🎉. Just a few years to go
Harley needs to work hard on their prices and options. Here in Europe they destroyed sporster and iron to the new sporster which is nice but terrible expensive as well, and is 0 sporster as we knew as sporster line. Sportglide should come with 114 for this price, and street bob should be even cheaper if now is the new "entry level" en europe, because the softail standard in Spain is around 15.500€ new and you must pay to homologate passenger sit and pay more stuff, which should be illegal. Sportglide is incredible beauty on my opinion but hd is too expensive and the bike is super heavy ( but this is what they sell...indestructible motorcycle engine.). To be honest sound is the best thing on harley... Rest is not worth it because after paying an insane ammount to new model then you have to pay maintenance and accessories terrible expensive too... I have to say also that rebel is much lighter than the sportgide and ligther than the softail standard ( cc are not the same), but Rebel bike looks like a toy, small and weak don't know how to say it, it's just a feeling. I love harley with their big engines and badboy bikes like SOA but they are rapidly losing followers, because people can't pay that huge amount of money to have new bike, and second hand is even worse here... super expensive for a 15 year old bike with 75.000km, so people is moving to other brands.
I did a test drive today and the dealer expected that the bikes will be even more expensive with the 22´er models due to the high shipping and more expensive raw material costs. Even if I wanted to buy a 21´er Street Bob right now he couldn´t deliver any new bike because they are all sold out (his contingent is empty). I think this is the new HD strategy with Zeitz: sell less but with higher prices and he seems to turn HD in a kind of a luxury brand (ok, HD has always been expensive, at least here in Europe at least for what you get) . So I wouldn´t expect lower prices. Right now, they sell like hot cakes.
I think he said for the money he’d go with the BMW. These are big investments and buyers will defend their purchases. I have and Indian Challenger. Love it. Looking for a bike for the wife. She wants a spyder. Her choice and she’ll have to decide. I’d love one of each type of bike and choose a different ride each day.
That was rather entertaining, I do a lot of coaching at a state MSF site and a H-D dealer so I see all kinds of riders and bikes. "A real bike" if a had a nickel for every time I hear that I would have a crap ton of nickels. Get out and ride all kids of bikes when you are looking for one. Find what you like and go with it.
To anyone saying the Rebel 1100 is a girls bike, fast forward to 17:45 and watch your manly Harley get obliterated by the Rebel. Both nice bikes. Very different from each other. I’m going with The Rebel.
It's not just the weight though. Nobody can change gears as fast as an auto. My next bike will be the Rebel DCT 1100. I want that power and acceleration!! Goodbye gears!!
Here is how I feel about it… The rebel 1100 is about as spec’d up as possible performance wise, you can throw a custom exhaust and power commander on it and that’s about as far as you can take it, I’m struggling to find a bore kit, cams, turbo, etc. A Harley’s true performance lies in the aftermarket, my 88 in motor has been fully kitted up to a 96in motor making over 100hp and 120ftlb weighing almost 700lbs. But it has been bored out 10 over, custom hi-comp pistons, custom cams, power commander, and a short & fat Vance n Hines exhaust. It’ll spin the tire through first and into second if I let it loose. Cornering is totally not what HDs are for, like you can take a line, but it’s never going to as fast or responsive as any other bike. It’s like comparing a muscle cars to tuners, both are awesome, just a different type of ride. Bought the bike for $7,200 (‘03 Softail deuce) with a fresh rebuilt motor from the dealership. However HD’s from the factory are nice looking but not at all “performance” machines. HD performance goes to EBR formerly Buell.
I can tell you why Harley sells the most bikes... You go into a Harley dealership and they will let you ride any bike in the whole place. They have the most events, some dealers have things going on multiple times a week, some will even offer you free water or a free beer. Lots of free bike washes with girls in bikinis, lots of BBQ. Now go to your local BMW dealer, there's no way you are going to take their precious GS out for a test drive, same with Kawasaki or Honda. You only get to ride once you commit to buying. And there are no events, maybe one per year. Most people that buy a Harley are buying into a family. And I'd dare say most have never been on any non Harley bikes, those other brands seem cold at the dealer, you can't ride their bikes, almost like they are hiding something bad... And the best part about a Harley is when you upgrade the exhaust, most buy one to get the best sounding bike on the planet.
I own a Sport Glide and I test rode a Rebel 1100. There really is no comparison. Two completely different types of bikes. The Rebel would be a fun cruise around town, which my SG does, no problem. But you're not going to go on an all day cruise on the Rebel without being uncomfortable. The SG is comfort all the way. And the extra weight is a definite plus on the highway and at highway speeds. You still feel the bike firmly grabbing the road while it glides over it at 75+ MPH. The other major difference is the Rebel feels plasticky. It's a fun, sporty ride, but the SG all around is worth the extra money. Oh, and it helps to have more meat on your frame than Yammie.
Absolutely agree. I have a 2019 Sport Glide and a 2012 Yamaha FZ8. I love them both but for entirely different reasons (how I feel when I ride each one!). I don't think I could choose just one. 😉
I've felt like a prisoner every time I've ridden a hardly. Pure garbage that vibrate the living shit out of you for no power. I've single cylinder dual sports that easily walk any hardly and feel good.
@@raphaellee7035 It's fact. Get a big Rotax engine between your legs and see for yourself. Careful not to loop it at interstate speeds because it will.
Why so expensive? What exactly justifies the price. The outdated slow motor? The 700 lbs weight? The single disc up front? The lack of any modern tech?
US components and labor would be by far the biggest factor if you were to break it down by category. Gotta think anything made in USA is going to cost at least a 30-40% premium over anything coming from east Asia then you have to factor in overhead costs. A lack of US style labor laws in countries of origin or countries where components are outsourced from on most if not all metric bikes also adds another huge premium. A made in USA bike built by American union workers is just going to cost more. This is just an average breakdown and not including things like CVO packages ECT....
@@akafox91 do you have a good source for how many HD parts are actually made in the US? Most sites I find say parts are made in Europe and Asia, but everything is imported and assembled in the 3 main HD plants in the US. Either way it adds cost, but I'd be interested to see reliable numbers of you have them. Edit: I'd also add that many sporty/adventure bikes have more tech in them, but are much lighter and have more plastics. Tech itself isn't that expensive past R&D, and the big 4 sell so many bikes worldwide they can afford that stuff easily. HD doesn't have tech, but large amounts of metal and chrome cost money no matter how old it is lol. Plus cruiser riders probably keep their bikes longer so HD tries to get more up front. Big 4 uses sport bike profits to keep their cruisers cheaper I'd bet. And can't forget that HD charges for the brand, and since most buyers are older they can afford it more than younger big 4 buyers.
The toughest part with the Honda is simply its size and riding position. A big person just doesn't fit on it. The power to weight ratio at the high rpms is great on the Honda, all Harley's need to get the air and exhaust opened up to really feel what they are capable of even with a big person on it. 2 very different bikes with 2 different markets. Look forward to a head to head with the Sportster S to really see what a similar size Harley can now do.
a year late but i assume it was made for a smaller framed person which in my case is great because i’m short (5’7) another note i don’t actually own a bike but i really want one because of my dad lol
I bought a Sport Glide in July. Swore I would never own a HD. I’ve been riding a ‘18 Triumph Street Triple and love it. That is my speed machine. I wanted a bike where I could take it easy and not be wanting/tempted to hit 100 mph about every time I ride it. I test road the Triumph Bobber two different times. Tested a BMW RnineT scrambler (didn’t not like the way it turned into corners). Saw the Sport Glide on the dealers website and decided to go look at it. Ended up test riding it and liked it. Mine is in white. Buying a bike is about passion. My Street Triple will go nowhere. When I can’t ride anymore, it will become a furniture piece.
I have a 2019 heritage and it is fun to ride and very practical. I also have a 2020 katana that I want to put bags on and ride everywhere. The two don’t compare, other than being motorcycles. I use the heritage for commuting and the katana is mainly for joy riding.
I wanted to like the Katana, but they gave it a joke of a gas tank (3.1 gallon) and that K5 motor is thirsty AF, so no range at all. Plus they couldn't be bothered to put cruise control on a bike that could've made for a nice sporty mile muncher.
Like Spite said, aftermarket support for Harley is vast, but not so much the Rebel 1100. Which is handy, because for a "premium" motorcycle company, I don't know why Harley always puts the cheapest suspension on their bikes? Some Legends, Fox or Progressives would fix that Sport Glide's handling 10x.
Bummer, been nice to see yammie do the roll on instead of spite on the Harley. One because the weight would even out, and two spite already knows what Harleys feel like.
Every bike has its specific things it's meant to do, that's why there is so many different styles, dont worry what others say get what works for u ..."sport cruiser" rebel all the way, harley with a small fairing is a turd "sport cruiser". Great video guys! As a Sport glide owner I never clicked on anything so fast! I did a stage one tune with a rinehart 4” slip on… and the sound and performance is night and day. I will NOT be trading this in for a Honda Rebel. 😂👍
That's a classic Harley Rider, making excuses: "I like having to power wrestle it through corners." No you don't, you're just brainwashed and too proud to admit it. But you keep doing you boo-boo. Just remember you're diluting yourself onto a bike that's slower and cost more, not the kind of thing in that wins IQ points
I know this video is 2 years old and this comment will fall on deaf ears, but I've been riding a Honda shadow 1100 for 7 years. (I've owned and ridden many other bikes) I bobbed mine out with lowered rear shocks and stripped the fenders and other stuff off. It's a 67hp bike weighing about 520 pounds. But my point is that with these cruisers you have to hang off the bike in the corners for ground clearance. With my peg location I'm limited of course, but in a left hand turn my right cheek is hanging off the left side of the seat. You'd be surprised that by doing that you can hang with most sport bike riders in the twisties. Of course a well experienced sport bike rider would run away from me any day, but for the street it's been my experience that I can hang with most bikes.
The problem with people, is they care to much about what you’re riding and they’ve forgotten the purpose of riding on two wheels. It about the ride and the experience. Not the bike you ride, as long as you’re on two wheels, you’re doing it right and living the dream.
This Signature LED indicators on the Sport Glide are really awesome! All H-D needs this things on OEM bikes! I mean that orange lenses and old school bulbs are shitty, really shitty for +19k bikes!
Harley is the Apple of motorbikes. You know it's terrible for the price tag, but you still buy it for the status and lie to yourself that you made a good purchase.
How the hell isn't that a dual front disc!? My Street glide is 830lbs and is dual, so only 100lbs more and i assure you that dual is necessary. If I owned that, big brake upgrade immediately.
lol, my 2013 Dyna Fat Bob weighs about the same as the Sport Glide & has duel brakes up front. It needs it too. I can't imagine how bad 1 disc would be.
@2 Slow Moto that makes sense and I'm not saying it's shit I'm just saying for me it'd make me nervous. I'm 380 so I wouldn't feel comfortable with 1. Big brake kit asap
People always make excuses for harley when it comes to not having a dual disc setup. Its a 18,000$ motorcycle, legit no reason for it to not have a dual disc setup.

It also doesn’t lose value like Japanese bikes do
The Honda is superior on performance, but the HD premium feel and finish blows it away. I'm not a big HD fan but I can't hate on it either-- people buy them for what they are. The HD is cooler simply put even tho it lacks function compared to others.

I have ridden the 107 and 114 back to back on the same day on the same route. The difference in power is unnoticeable.
Out of the Harleys I rode that day, the sport glide was my favorite.
Makes sense. Numbers is often just about bragging rights.
@@johnraconteur1723
The difference in engine speed is due solely to gear ratios.
So pretty much if you want a sporty, touring cruiser. Get a Rebel, get aftermarket forward controls, better seat, windscreen and bags and your done, the Rebel already comes stock with cruise control (cheapest bike on the market with cruise). How many of those big heavy Harley Davidson Motorcycles only come with a single front disc brake ?
I suspect you'd enjoy the V Star 1300 (unfortunately discontinued). Free-revving liquid-cooled overbore engine with a 6,300 RPM limiter, comfortable mono-shock suspension, and 35/36 degree lean angles. Nimble for a cruiser, and comfortable enough for cross-country trekking. Stock, they run around 130 MPH, so no wheezing when ya' want to pass on the Interstate.
Wish they would come back with the VStars
i been riding a royal star 1300 since it was brand new in 1999 and my father has been through 3 harleys since and they all have had their issues but not the yahmaha
Yammie finally had something nice to say about BMW GS adventure touring bikes.
If you want an automatic bike Honda is the best option. Harleys are designed to look good rather than be good.
🎉. Just a few years to go
@@investlikeawarrior Best of luck in your ventures.
Worse here in Thailand. HD prices ridiculous.
Unsure about "indestructible engine" aha
Okay Yammie, Now do a weekend trip with the two bikes. Minimum 1000 mile total. You stay on the Rebel all weekend. Then report back to us.
I do have a Sport Glide and I personally am loving the bike.
Its hard to ride all sorts of bikes when every single dealer i have ever encountered will not let me test ride i live in new england.
@@Harley.Davidson thanks captaimn obvious.

To anyone saying the Rebel 1100 is a girls bike, fast forward to 17:45 and watch your manly Harley get obliterated by the Rebel. Both nice bikes. Very different from each other. I’m going with The Rebel.
The Honda Rebel is a sweet ride. The Engine they used for it is bullet proof. Very Masculine looking bike and nothing girly about it.
Wasnt even close
It's not just the weight though.
Nobody can change gears as fast as an auto.
My next bike will be the Rebel DCT 1100. I want that power and acceleration!! Goodbye gears!!
"You don't have to live like this " 🤣🤣🤣
Here is how I feel about it…
The rebel 1100 is about as spec’d up as possible performance wise, you can throw a custom exhaust and power commander on it and that’s about as far as you can take it, I’m struggling to find a bore kit, cams, turbo, etc.
Your music choice are always rather excellent and underrated.
Man I love that Rebel!
Yammie.
Don't go to Sturgis this year.
Or maybe ever...
Not always about function , sometimes it’s about the feeling. I have very different feelings on my Harley vs my sport bike
@@skipads8784 well that’s just all around nonsense what ur sayin. Lol
@@raphaellee7035
It's fact. Get a big Rotax engine between your legs and see for yourself. Careful not to loop it at interstate speeds because it will.
I’m 10 minutes in and am I seeing Yammie liking a Harley.. whaaaaaat.
Dual brakes don't stop you any faster...
@@MrPAULONEAL that is false & easy to disprove. If a single brake was as effective as a dual brake then why have dual brakes. Nice BS....
Yeah I want to fit comfortably on a rebel but I don't
a year late but i assume it was made for a smaller framed person which in my case is great because i’m short (5’7)
another note i don’t actually own a bike but i really want one because of my dad lol
Would get gapped even worst.
The only thing I lean is my pimp ass walk. Lmfao 🤣
Every bike has its specific things it's meant to do, that's why there is so many different styles, dont worry what others say get what works for u ..."sport cruiser" rebel all the way, harley with a small fairing is a turd "sport cruiser". Dyna or sportster have been a better version of this for years...swing and a miss on harleys part, all show no go.
As a Harley salesman, our average customer is either 5 foot 110 pounds (not limited to any specific gender), large and in charge, or 6 foot 12 inches tall. No in between.
5'10 175lbs lol pretty damn close but I ride anything and everything
"Get a v-max or a rocket".... shit it finally happened... I agreed with yam...
Favorite fact of the video: Yam has an economics degree. I knew he was a smart cookie. 🤣
That's two Rebels, two whole rebels! Well, inflation is as inflation does...at least for Harley
Always loved bikes, always loved Harleys. What did I end up buying, an '80s japanese sportbike. Light and nimble.
The new Harley Sportster S would have been a better comparison to me. 1100 cc vs. 1250, both liquid cooled twins, and mid controls.
They probably can't get one yet.
the Sportster S would beat the Rebel pretty easy, but it also cost a lot more too.
I will note that the Sportster S actually comes stock with forwards and the mids are an up charge unfortunately. I agree tho.
The low rider s would’ve been a better bike. Lol but yeah the new sporty and pan America are examples that Harley can be different.
@@opietaylor5778 It's because of the feeling harley trys to deliver. HD really can build bikes that can keep up with everyone performance wise. But nobody can compete with Harleys in terms of oldskool feeling. Except of Triumph maybe 😁
Got my street Bob for 11900.. 107 motor with 6 speed.. wouldn't trade it for any other bike... on my way to Sturgis on it right now.. Started in Memphis.. in Denver tonight.. seeya there guys and gals
700lbs and no dual disc brakes up front? Are you joking?
That’s Harley
Really getting your money's worth with Harley. 18k for a bike that was cutting edge in 1950.
This Harley is very cool, stylish, but these prices are absurd. And this is one of the reasons why I choose Honda. I bought it and I am VERY pleased. Comfortable and plenty of power. Great look also.

I'm a classic Harley rider too, happily living in the past.
I would love to see you guys start bringing in more viewer bikes like this and really bring in some more custom stuff if people will lend them
The problem with people, is they care to much about what you’re riding and they’ve forgotten the purpose of riding on two wheels.
Love the conversation while you guys are riding real time!
Harley vs a Real Honda.
Harley doesn't know how to make good brake, thats why the sportster have brembo now and not the bad break harley make.
@@Keiser-h4z my SGS has brembo, but yeah they make motors, frames and wheels; everything else are other companies specialities. The suspension on mine was bad, put legends F&R.
Rode a 2008 Dyna across the country. Harleys are great, the new Rebels are great (I have one). Very different rides in a lot of ways. The thing is, if it puts a grin on your face and you love it, that's all that matters.
