You'd let the local back lley shop work on your cars though anywhere with shhh prices but i promise they make the work up. I was first shocked then angry at my towns local garages when i worked at the good one and realised most of the MOTs being done were cars booked in by the other garages they advertised as MOT specialists but wasnt. They brought the cars to our garage then took them back to do the actual work plus extras. My uncle used one and they made stuff up and popped his under car neons on the ramps. Whilst waiting for their MOT theyd brag about jobs theyve got away with. I was young apprentice but still scoffed and rolled my eyes at them like wtf thats our work we'd do it right init JHON.

I've heard of a couple 6-speed Miata owners have mistakenly removed that reverse pin thinking it's the drain bolt. Now that'd be a bad time.
In my early days of working at a lube shop when I knew next to nothing about how to service cars other than changing the oil, I was tasked with doing a fluid flush on a Miata with a 6-speed. I asked one of the guys which bolt was the fill plug, and he pointed to one of the bolts. Turned out to the the reverse pin. Bad times were had.

Should of modified it into a recirc valve. Saved that out of place box and quietened it down.
it is a recirc valve
have the same intake setup on my MSM. it is a recirc valve, it's just loud. doesn't help that the filter is right up behind the firewall on the drivers side. i like the sound personally. it's not really that obnoxious unless you're full throttle and full boost.
That's a recirculating bypass valve not a "blow off valve" and it's very quiet already. I have this on my car. This car has the Flyin Miata LE upgrades which are very desirable.

All the work and added weight, trying to quiet a sound for something that most people want to be louder 🤦♂️

It amazes me at how quickly you get all this work done. When Mike gives the rundown at the end I am so amazed when most times its 36 hour or less. My husband says that just shows you have someone that knows what they're doing. You sir are a true master!

if anyone has seen the full episode, the turbo coming on isn't as dramatic as they sell it. own one with similar mods and it's still not that fast lol. I'm a downpipe short of FM's Little Enchilada kit, so it makes around 200 hp now. it's quick but it's not throw you back in the seat quick. Still a good episode!
Yes a blow off valve is a necessity in a turbo charged car said by a 84 mustang SVO owner who went through 4 snapped turbine shafts.
he did a really good job building the silencer for the blow off valve. But I am going to keep my blow off valves for my 1994 supra and my 1992 NSX.

Well there's a good example of a hammer to crack a walnut! Surely the crazy amount of man hours fabricating that silencer would far out weight the price of a quieter dump valve!

That housing is quite a bulky. But I guess it does its job.

The factory one is garbage. Honestly, there are a lot of other units out there, what really needs to happen is making it recirculate as this is a MAF car.

I don't know if you should sell that car to an 18 year old. I mean miata is kind of perfect starter car, but this one is very rare, and it's in almost perfect condition, i don't know how well is this boy going to maintain this car...

What type of oil do you put in the gearbox, we have a 1.6 NB from 2000.
The threads recommend Motorcraft as the best for the 6-Spd. gear box. I use it in my MSM and 2KSE.

Ant is way more into cars than our Ed was, think Ed was more of a scientist in front of Ants automotive ingenuity...
They have two different methods. Ed is more a pure mechanic and tells you how to properly restore a car when cars were just about taking off a faulty bit and replacing it. Ant is more a fabricator. He adds improvements to the car and teaches you how to do it for cheap but very effectively. Which is good, 'cause sometimes mechanics also do that.

TV/Streaming Services should work with edd on that, like produce a comprehensive Knowhow on how to fix the most commonly replaced parts...

How did he manage to weld the aluminium?
You can weld aluminum just fine. You just need to make sure your filler is also aluminum. In this case he uses a TIG welder.

Its not Edd ok ill try offs its an mx5 too. I understand though the mx5 is the most abused drive way DIY starter car so it makes sense so so many of them are used. Wait did you replace Edd? I cant stand mike ill avoid the show if Edd is out and mike is in.
