YES, I deleted all the comments I wrote right after filming!
Ever since Sulli’s passing, I have had this uncomfortable guilt on my mind. No, I have never hated on her but at the same time I’ve never stood up for her. And this video is my attempt to stop being a spectator and to bring some positive changes with small influence I luckily have. I know some might not agree with my approach to understand haters’ mindset and you don’t need to. Freely Share your opinion on this, please.
    Love you, kids❤️🙏

I wanted to wait till I'd slept before commenting on this. I feel like the topic was important enough to digest before saying anything. I'm very glad I was uncomfortable during the video, because I really was. I think that was the point, it was an important one. I think a lot of issues with everything is there isn't actual faces applied to comments. There's no responsibility. They are just words like these tossed out into the digital world that people can forget about as soon as they hit enter.
      That's the problem.
You can ingest and purge this toxic content. You can be a part of the problem, you can hurt people, you can condemn impressionable and sensitive people to death without batting an eye. Sometimes you even feel joy, vindication when you get so many likes from the comments and attacks you post. Then blame anything else when people take their lives.
      That's a problem.
I actually want to thank you for this. It angered me, broke my heart, and impacted me in a way I think I needed. I think more people need the same thing.
...Sulli, Hara...those living...Jennie, Lisa, Taeyeon, Yeri, Chen...people who aren't even famous...
"Journalists" need to understand that what they say will absolutely have a ripple effect. Consumers need to understand that their comment DOES matter, that it can mean the difference between life and death for others.
Thank you, Mom. It was very brave to tackle the video like you did. So very brave.

While I agree people should be more careful about what they say, and take responsibility for their effects on others. I think its important to recognize that we really have no control over how others act, we can only control how we REACT. if you have thin-skin or are suffering from major depression which Sulli was, maybe it would have been in her best interest to step off the platform that was progressively making her more and more depressed. I'm not justifying cyberbullying, of course, I'm just saying that there is some personal accountability too for how one feels. A life taken too soon, my heart goes out to her friends and family.

I think a big part of it is because it's a shotgun wedding. Which is not really seen as the proper procedure and is viewed negatively. Instead of having a wedding first and then kids, which is normally the way it's supposed to be. I personally don't really feel comfortable with all those shotgun weddings either though, I understand the criticism about that (But not malicious comments and personal attacks etc of course). Because it feels like getting married just cause the guy got a girl pregnant (yes not only the guy is responsible for this happening, both are) and not cause he loves the girl and just really wants to marry her and vice versa (although is possible and could be the case, this is just how it comes across and often how it is too). The reason for marriage just becomes this mandatory standard consequence of an unplanned baby whether they're ready for it and wanting or not, so it raises questions and worries to the genuineness of their feelings for each other and real desire to get married to one another or just having to do it to bear responsibility and to not get criticized more. Not like they have other options after the fact happens cause otherwise Chen will get called irresponsible and immoral and abandoning who he got pregnant or whatever and receive a lot more hate and be viewed as a jerk. And if I would try to imagine from a exo fan's perspective i guess it could be seen as an irresponsible act that negatively impacted the whole group while they are in an important part of their career and popularity so feel disappointed and kinda betrayed by his actions. Or something like that, not that I know since I'm not really a fan but I can kinda imagine. Many people take it too far though and idk about leaving the group. Well...sh** happens sometimes...I just hope idols will be able to date openly without being criticized for it and just get married normally and then have all the kids they want. Hopefully things work out well for Chen and his wife and have a healthy child

i pride myself on never leaving hate comments, even if there is a celebrity I don't like I don't waste my time spreading hate towards them because it is bullying and so pointless. When I was younger my biggest idol was Selena Gomez and what I learnt from her was the phrase "kill them with kindness" and I always think about that so when I see negative comments about idols I don't respond back to that comment with hate, I respond back to it about in kinder ways or with less aggression or I complement the person they insulted because it difuses a situation quickly because the hater is looking more for a large response, they're asking for a fight, but I'll never understand how someone can comment something mean with no emotion, I'd think about what I said for days if it was a rude as these comments. Comments where people tell others to take their own life make me want to cry, I would never in a million years want someone to feel that kind of despair. I would much rather have one positive response to a kind thing I said than millions of likes and comments on a negative thing that I've said. I think spreading love even in small ways is so important because I don't ever want to lose another idol because of bullying. I cry everytime I think about our angel Sulli, because although there was love and support to her there was still so much hate and you never know the impact of a negative comment until it's truly too late, yet people still won't learn. Thankyou for this video Zoey, I love you and I hope you always stay as kind hearted and loving as you are❤️❤️💜💜

As a fan of Sunmi, I thank you a lot for making this video. After Sulli's passing I got even more angry because I saw that while everyone kept writing "the situation will change, no more hate comments" etc. actually NOTHING was changing at all. Sunmi went through a lot recently as well and as I was trying to figure out what was actually wrong, I actually came to the same conclusion as you. The problem is "journalists". It's those who write the article in such a bad way that people feel compelled to leave hate comments. Those journalists profit not only on celebrities but also on the insecurities of people, they exploit every single negative feeling so that people click on the articles and let the negativity out. There's a big change to be made in the entertainment industry but as an "outsider" (I'm italian) I thought that maybe I couldn't comprehend the dynamics of Korean society. Your experiment confirmed my theory and I think this video will be very useful in battling this phenomenon. I am sharing your video everywhere within the Sunmi fandom so that we all learn something out of it and we can handle better future situations. I thank you again because this is such an important topic and I think the discussion can bring big positive changes.

When Jonhyung died, I cried everytime I saw anything about him for ages. I wasn't even a fan of Shinee back then, but something in me just broke. He was such a genuine beautiful, kind and wonderful soul. Always trying to help those in the same situation as him, while not asking for anything in return. Same with Sulli and Goo Hara and all the other celebraties that we lost along the way! And I really understand suicide, since I was in that situation, years ago. It isn't pretty and you do not wanna share it with anyone. People who think that is easy to talk about this, must have never really dealt with suicide, because all you can do is silently give signs that you aren't okay. It made me realize as well that we are not yet prepare to face mental illness. That people will easily judge you and not many will try to help, even if you seek it professionaly, there aren't many therapists who do their job properly, worldwide. But what I wanted to say was that korean celebraties, they give their lives for entertaining us, their public. They leave home really young to pursue a dream and they work so hard for it! Dance practice, school, singing lessons, recordings, filming for tv shows and stuff, etc., they have no free time. They can't go visit their friends or family whenever they want, can't have a normal relationship, can't have any type of private life and on top of that they get so much hate and not only from korean fans, but international ones as well. Envy is such a big thing, right? Is much easier to envy someone and give negativity than to spread positivity and be happy for someone else! They deserve all they have because they worked so f hard for it! BLOOD AND TEARS! Loved your video like always, Mom and I truly cherish that you are trying to do a positive change! Greetings from Romania! ♥

There's two things you talked about that really got me thinking :
1- people getting "addicted" to leave hate comments. As you said, it's not even about actually hating that person but to feel power and control by leaving those hate comments.
And 2- how easy it is to ruin someone's life by judging them for every mistake they make. The "cancel culture" that has been taking over social media these past few years it's sort of getting out of control, in my opinion. I mean yes, we should try to educate people if they make racists remarks, for example, or if they make cultural appropriation somehow, but maybe we shouldn't be so quick to "end" someone's career or social life just because they made a mistake once or twice (and specially if they apologize later and try to correct their mistakes) , and i think the biggest consequence to this is that we put the spotlight on people who only made one (or a couple) childish mistakes and we divert the attention from the people who should actually be canceled.

It's really sad when people don't take the time to think about how their words will affect others. The haters probably have low self esteem. I've never written hate comments, but at my lowest, depressed point I have thought bad things. It's really hard to express appreciation and love for others when you feel numb or hate yourself. I'm thankful for people who consistently comment uplifting words and provide sensible, constructive criticism and debates.

I really like that you made a video about this. I myself refuse to spread negativity, so if I watch or read something I don't agree with or like I just click off the page. I do think most people just write hate comments for attention and if you ignore them they will usually just go away but their are also people that try to bait others into starting an argument and people do tend to fall for that trap either because they want to defend whoever the comment is about or because they just like arguing but personally I think you should just ignore those people, the more attention you give them, the more likely they are to continue. I don't read a lot of comments since like I mentioned I do not like spreading hate or negativity to others and I feel that when you see a lot of those cruel comments it tends to bring down your mood. The fact is you should just be kind and if you don't like something than there are plenty of ways to go about stating your opinion without being mean or cruel or just don't comment at all. It is the age old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

The way technology makes us so much bolder and so much more scared at the same time is amazing. I think that's why black mirror is such an innovating an interesting show with the way they approach how the internet, technology, people's comments, ect. effect us all so severely (i know this video had nothing to do with black mirror just the awesome way she approached this phenomenon of hating people you don't even know made me think of that show)

This made me immensely sad. I will never understand how mean people can be. The fact that these amazingly creative people are suffering from depression and suicide due to hate comments. I just want to cry for those people. Depression and suicidal ideation are extremely hard to get through by themselves. But constantly having people support those fears and self doubt is something I can never imagine. I would like to challenge everyone that reads this to leave a nice comment on every video they watch for the next 24 hours. Good luck and good vibes 🥰 Cheyenne- USA Michigan

Such hate comments shouldn't be taken seriously. Some people give positive while other give negative comments.

    Better ignore such things

I didn’t know sulli at all before she died and felt really disgusted and sad at why she committed suicide when it happened. But seeing that video of her at the end has just made me cry so hard, it doesn’t even matter that i don’t know her at all but we lost her because of stupid hate comments from probably insecure people looking for attention and news articles wanting clicks. I wish people would just stop hating on idols because they’re under enough pressure without all the hate too.

As a person who gets anxiety thinking about posting a comment anywhere, I was feeling bad for you, thinking you would feel very nervous. The fact that it's easy to be a hater was confusing to me at first, but then it made sense, since it's so much easier to find something annoying about someone than to love them if you don't really know them that well, especially if you **want** to hate them - and if you're a journalist, of course it's easier to pick this small thing a famous person did and twist it enough to grab attention when you know a lot of people will read it and maybe even agree with you and it won't take you much research, if any. A good article about someone wouldn't get much attention, and some people would say the journalist only did that because they're a fan - or they're being paid to. That makes me think a lot. How often we think about how we can affect someone's life? I hope everyone who watches this video stop to think about this, that we all start holding ourselves responsable for our actions. There's a lot of people dying because they are hated, excluded, and made fun of... And that's the hater's fault. We need to be more mindfull about our actions and the people around us. I think it's human to dislike some things or some people, but it's better keeping that to yourself, that way you won't harm anyone and you'll have more time to the things you love. Zoey, thank you so much for this video. I love your new stuff, I hope you continue to expand your channel and your content. I'm proud of you.

It is strange to see how easy it is. I don’t think I could do it, but I see how easy it can be and I think people should make more of an effort to understand how they would feel if someone directed their comments toward themselves. I see so many hate comments that have nothing to do with someone’s mistakes, but instead are focused on physical things or personal things that any other person in the world could have. People fat shame, make racist, sexist, homophobic, and ableist comments to celebrities that they don’t like but forget that it has nothing to do with the mistake and that there are so many other people who will feel the comment directed at them even if they aren’t associated with the celebrity.

I actually strongly dislike Kpop for a number of reasons, not because I don’t like the style or the actual lyrics, but namely for other experiences I’ve had with the people who “Stan” (or whatever you call it) the performers the music genre. However, I also don’t like it when people hate on it. It’s wrong and even some celebrities are joining in on the hate. It’s absolutely disgusting. People should just keep their negative opinions out of it (although what I just said was an opinion lol) and to themselves, especially the famous ones because their fans will send hate to the community too. There’s a reason why a lot of famous people have depression and get into drugs, and it’s not just the pressure put on them.

It's absolutely terrible to see all the things people on the internet get to write. There's so many pointless situation turned into "scandals" just because people can't handle idols dating and weight situations many idols had to go through and still do. I remember when Taeyeon kept getting blamed for Jessica's departure from GG, but that was just the beginning. Then the whole dating problem with Baekhyun, her extreme weight-loss and so on. When she said she was struggling with depression people just told her to get over it and stop talking about it. Imagine being part of the biggest girl group in the world just to get spat on by your own fans. I just wonder if these people who post these types of comments ever put themselves in the position of the person they target, how would they feel if some complete stranger just starting talking shit about them for no reason? If a single hate comment can bring someone down, just imagine what a teeny compliment could do. Why can't we just spread love instead? Then everyone would feel better about themselves.

Sometimes I want to leave a hateful comment but I always block instead and walk away. I realize that it’s not this easy for everyone but I promise you that throwing hate at somebody else won’t make you feel any better. I am not going to pretend that I am an angel and have never in my life said something hateful. Of course I have, I’m human I make mistakes but those few times I have done it I felt worse after.
For example even though I don’t like nick avocado I don’t watch any videos about him anymore. I did leave a comment on one of his videos when the whole thing with Stephanie happened but it didn’t make me feel better and since Stephanie has moved on so have I.
I promise people that even though it’s easier to leave hate it’s more rewarding to leave something nice or nothing at all.

Wow you should have tried Twitter, the fanwars there are ridiculous. And people tweets hateful posts that brings them so much attention it's really disgusting... It's just what is seen the most. Like I've been on stan Twitter for a while now and there are hateful posts everywhere and bullying idols and fans... And when there were news about an idol passing away or going on hiatus people were complayning like "Look what you've done..." and then the next day is always the same, toxic. It's really sad how easy it is and how people don't realize how hurtful their comments can be.
I was kinda skeptic about this video because there were many youtubers that tried such "social experiment" when they posted a hateful tweet and then made a video about how the fans of that group attacked them online. I mean what did they expect? Hate creates more hate, I wish people would realize that...

To me a hater on social media is someone who expresses out loud his deepest insecurities and project them on someone who has what they wish they had.
A " Stan" on the contrary is someone who feels inspired and motivated by what someone has they wish they had.

The idea that haters aim to gain attention by expressing angry comments is fundamentally true. Now I understand what drives me when a negative thought about any person creeps in to me. The problem is actually in our sense of self. Such things should stop, and such people should take care of themselves, leaving innocent people living their lives.
The journalist's job is very angry and harmful, poisonous.

I think even if there are no fines or jail time for people who leave these kinds of comments that result in a person committing suicide, they should at least be made to attend the funeral of the person they helped to murder. Maybe even be shown the police photos of the result of their callousness. Maybe that would make them understand exactly what it is they are doing to people.
