That was my second bike, too. It's a great bike. You'll love it. I took it to the Canadian Rockies. I put the full Rally Raid kit on it. The most important mods are a bash plate, I'd recommend the Rally Raid, and new tires.
Good choice Saffy, I hope you have a wonderful time on your new bike. First mod as always drop and crash protection. Thank you...
It's on the books! Need to find the time / money 😂
Congratulations on that sweet bike! I picked up my brand new 2023 CB500X in May of 2023, sight unseen and untested and after waiting 6 months for it to ship to the States, I absolutely love it. You'll love it too. I added both upper and lower crash bars, Quad Lock USB charger and phone mount, auxiliary lights because I felt the headlight alone was a bit weak, a tail rack and tail box that has helped it really replace my car in the warmer part of the year.
Well done on the perches very nice
Thanks
Great purchase, Saff! Deffo invest in crash and engine protection, it's boring, but sooner it's done, the better, specially if you're going offroad/adv riding! Enjoy the bike in the meantime and all the best!:D Oh, and Katsu is a treasure!
It might not add performance but they add durability and look sweet in my opinion
@@GratefulEd907 for real:) evotech particularly do some ace stuff.
Bash plate, crash bars (also known as engine bars), hand guards and when money will allow a higher exhaust 😊
I've been eyeing up higher exhausts! Stock is so loooooow
@@SaffySprocket that is true, but then learn the bike and how it handles, and if you do drop it on the exhaust you have the perfect excuse to replace it with a high version. So much can be learnt on the bike as stock, just prioritise crash bars to save the expensive plastics 😊
Well congrats on the new horsey! Let it give you all the joy you are expecting. At the time, please install the side protection and then the underbody. Heated grips- maybe -but if you put nice kinda barkbusters on the handles I think you will not need it. Said from experience on my Vstrom 650xt. Good luck, love.
Looks fantastic - great colour too !!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Congratulations! Great bike and like the colour. Look forward to seeing your adventures on film! 👍😎
Congrats Saff 😁 I'm delighted for you, it's always fun getting another bike and best bit is I guessed it right straight off the bat 😂 Health to ride
Absolutely love the bike and colour saffy. That is the kind of bike when i get a larger bike. Looking forward to watching your adventures on it
Congratulations on the new bike. And a new intro it's looks like you're getting a fresh startLove it!
Very good choice!!! A brilliant platform for an adv bike. You won’t be disappointed. The first extra I would put is heated grips followed by crash plate and bars. I would not touch the suspension until you know it pretty well, so that you really know what will you need for an improved suspension.
Good idea 💡
I agree
Great bike ,love the colour, looking forward to seeing the next week video, safe riding 😊
Lovely bike Saffy & congratulations. Ride safe and enjoy. 🏍💨👌
Sweet!
Youre going to love it. You'll be able to build it to whatever you want.
GOOD CHOICE
Love how happy this bike is making you, Saffy. I had the old 1997 CB500 myself, & they are *so* reliable & comfortable to ride. I did toy with the idea of the CB500X myself, but decided to go bigger. Centre stand issues: I find with mine you have to regard it as a deadlift combined with a stomp. You get your foot on the centre stand lever, and for this you need pretty sturdy boots, then you grab somewhere solid on the rear side of the bike, keep a hand on the handlebar for stability, and push down hard while pulling upwards on the back of the bike. Works with a 230kg+ litre bike, so you should have no trouble. Only thing is you need both sides of the centre stand to be on the floor, bike has to be bolt upright. Do it a few times with a mate there ready to catch it if it falls away from you, and you'll get it, no problem.
Welcome to the Honda family, as they say "you meet the nicest people on a Honda"
You won't be disappointed the 500 is a great bike
Congratulations on the new bike, hope it brings you many thousands of trouble free adventures.
Nice choice Saffy...Have fun and enjoy the new bike 🙂
Thank you so much 🥰
Awesome! Beautiful bike. Should have some great great rides!
Solid machine! Congrats on the new bike!
Awesome! So glad for you! Looking good!
Hahaha! Congrats! I got mine last year. You're going to love it.
Looks sweet! Having a fairing will make such a difference.
I wouldn't worry too much about spoked wheels to start with, I've been greenlaning my Super Adventure S on the cast wheels and they've been fine.
Well done Saffy, enjoy and safe rides! 👍👍
Thank you so much 😊
Great choice , I had this as my first ( kinda big bike )
Loved it , so comfortable and easy to ride / manoeuvre about , well done 👍
Can't wait to see the choice of the new bike😊
Good choice, a great bike. Bark busters will protect levers and deflect the cold along with the other mods you’ve mentioned it’ll be fab
I think so too!
Or maybe handguards.... Where is this America /Australian terminology coming from, we live in Britain not north America 🤷🏻♂️
@@kevindarkstar bark busters are a brand, they’re not a normal type gaurd they have a wrap around bar 🤷🏼♂️
Good for you, Saffy. Nice bike!
Lovely bike saffron I’m looking forward to your new videos on your new bike regards Dave.
Great choice of bike, these are really capable little bikes. In terms of mods, aside from those mentioned just engine guards, bash-plate, hand guards (proper ones, not just plastic), folding footpegs if they're not already, maybe folding brake pedal/gear selector if available. Get an aftermarket silencer on it when you change the exhaust too, these can sound quite nice (well, as nice as a parallel twin can at least). Look forward to seeing riding vids on it, enjoy!!
I'm guessing a CB500X Saff. Whatever it is, we cannot wait to see the adventures you have.
Congrats for the new bike, Saff. I think it is a good choice.👍
I think so too!
Congrats!
What an upgrade ❤
It is a great bike.
I love it already!!!!
Nice looking bike enjoy, look forward to hearing how you get on with it.
3xcited for this new chapter saffy! As a 6ft young bloke, I never got my bike onto the centre stand out of fear of dropping it before removing it for an exhaust, I feel the pain lol
NICE BIKE! 😍
I love it!
@@SaffySprocket i sure you do ...have fun with it and we will see some lovely documentery from you (and the bike ofcourse) 🤗
Saffy lass ❤ you've not done bad for yourself there , a good solid motor , x well done x
One follower is already giving you a good instruction on how to get the bike up on the center stand. To add, a cobination of your bodyweight on the stand and same time pullig it upwards (I am grabbing mine on the passenger footrest mount) will easily do the trick, for most bikes even with luggage on!
I love that bike. Perfect all round size. Great engine. It’s so well finished. Congratulations! PLUS your enthusiasm is so wonderful! 👍❤️
Good choice! I’ve had a 2016 model for the last 2 years and they are just fantastic bikes. Mod wise for more off road stuff check out the selection from rally raid. They’ve got everything for these bikes, spoke wheels, upgraded suspension, engine bash plates etc... for crash bars the most common are GIVI ones but they seem to get a lot of complaints making the bike a lot more vibey I’d look at Hepco and Becker instead. But really the short answer is put some miles on and see what you want to add to it.
For the centre stand, it's really easy:
- Lift the bike off the side stand, hold it upright
- Push the centre stand down with your right foot until both legs of the stand are on the ground. You'll be able to feel this because the bike won't lean any more (so long as you keep pressing down with your foot). Visually check the feet are stable, i.e. not sinking into mud, about to fall off the edge of a stone etc
- Get a good grip somewhere around the seat, like the pillion grab handles, with your right hand
- Lift the bike diagonally up and backwards, so you're lifting it and moving it towards the back of the bike, while also putting weight on the centre stand with your foot. For you this will probably be most of your body weight, but try not to lift your other foot off the ground just for balancing sake. Ideally you're putting weight on the stand to help with lifting with your arms, but you're not trying to do it all with the stand because you will eventually just break the little foot pad off the stand.
- The bike will come up and back, over the tipping point where the centre stand is vertical, and then drop a little to its final position, with the stand angled towards the back like a / , and the rear wheel off the ground (assuming the ground is flat, sometimes it might be lightly resting if there's a bump there).
- That's it! It's much easier than it sounds and becomes a natural motion with practice.
To get it back off the stand, just reverse it. Keep your weight pushing down on the centre stand as you pull the bike forward and you'll get back to the second step, where the bike is almost held up just by your foot on the stand. This'll help reduce the risk of overbalancing, with the most common drop being the bike falling away from you because it's a hard thing to save, especially for you where the bike will weigh more than you. Always have the side stand extended when you're doing this, and that way if in doubt just bring the bike towards you instead of away and it'll be back on the side stand. Again, this sounds more complicated than it is, but it'll also become easy very quickly, and you can always get someone to stand on the other side of the bike while you're learning, just in case.
If you want to be an Adv bro you can get on the bike while it's on the centre, start it, put it in gear, and then hip-thrust so the bike rolls forward off the centre stand and you can ride away without putting feet down. It will make you look like a toolbag though, while also clanging your centre stand off the exhaust, but it's all part of that adv-bro life bro like bro amiright bro? 😂
Perfect choice and great colour, I am sure you will love this bike. Getting in the centre stand is just a practice thing. Most people's advice is what I do, press down with foot on the lever and push back on the rear rail.
It's actually more bike level, foot on stand, hold the bars get hold of the rear rail then put ya weight on the stand whilst simultaneously lifting and pulling on the bar and rail, a three way lift 😊
Very nice bike! Over time you can do a few upgrades and you’ll be very happy with it. Ride safe!
That's the plan!
lovely bike and you meet the nicest people on a Honda! Health to enjoy,
keep er lit
It's lovely, well done! 😁
Thank you so much 😊
You should think about engine guard and auxiliary lights
A lot of people said to get a radiators guard straight off the bat!
@@SaffySprocket yeap good idea also.
@@SaffySprocket I'd put a higher priority on crash bars. I use them to pull the bike onto the centre stand.
Excellent choice! It’s a fab bike 😊
Congrats on your new bike! Sounds like you have some good upgrades planned for it.
Thanks!
Yeh Spaffy Socket; like Michelin Anakee Wilds or GTFO! 🤳🤣
Good choice Saffy. Safe travels 👍
Keep those rims... spokes are a lot of work, can be dangerous and expensive to have redone
What a brilliant choice! Roll on the adventures! French trip soon? Love the channel, you are fully lovely.
Good choice of bike for the trips and things you do . 👍👍
👍👍 Thats a fine machine!
Wish you many years of enjoyable riding. Its great getting a new toy. I have many hobbies myself.
Thanks, you too!
good choice for the trips and riding you do
Wow great bike choice glad to see you have made this decision. I'm currently saving money to buy one of these beauties to go travelling in the future!!!
Nice looking bike, love the colour.👍
That is a great choice TBF it'll do everything you need it to do.
Wow, I wanted one for long time, then when it came to it I got the 390 adventure. You have a great bike there. Enjoy the new adventures you will have
Great choice... no worrys with hondas build quality and reliability.. many miles of smiles ahead!
Id start with the protection like engine bars etc it will give you peace of mind when heading off road
I had one, great bike, mine lacked centre stand. Itchy Boots went all over on one. Safe riding see you at ABR
See you at ABR!
What a super bike it looks gorgeous, have fun off roading its great fun. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Brilliant. . Good purchase. .
Put your left on the centre stand, push down, bike now resting on centre stand, hold the bike below the seat some where and lift and pull backwards, bike now up on centre stand . .
Then repeat 4 x daily it wil get easier every time . .
Enjoy your new ride 👍👍
Great choice, Saffy,👍 proper tires, also engine and handle bar protection has been the first I added to our CB500X
3:30 Watching this high, priceless! Great choice Saff, since I'll be riding the bus this year I'm watching the Sprocketiffication of this 500x!
Great purchase!!
Nice one. Great bike and ride safe
Thanks, you too!
I passed my test on a cb500 years ago but must admit it was brill bike could manuver it easy hope you enjoy it think you will 😀😀
I hope so 😂 although I can't corner well to save my life!
Excellent choice Saffy! I think you might want to reconsider going to spoke wheels. That means you're going to need a tube. Repairing leaks generally means removing or replacing the tube. These wheels are tubeless. If you get a puncture, it's much easier to repair on the side of the road or trail with a simple plug. I'm looking forward to hearing how you like it. Amanda of "As the Magpie Flies" has one and she speaks highly of it. Enjoy the ride.
Rally raid do a set of wire wheels for this bike and there tubeless
You don’t need tubes for spoked wheels anymore.
@@simulacrae On the whole; yes you do!. Some spoked wheels can have peripheral spoke holes on the rim but the vast majority have a whacking great hole/holes in the rim where the spokes go through. You can try and seal these holes but it's not a good idea.
@@simulacrae you haven't for a long time.
If you are going off road wire wheels are a must as cast wheels will break. You can get tubeless wire wheels but it is going to cost a bit of money.
Smashing bike, I really like the colour, congratulations. 😊
Thanks! 👍
Good choice, got my new 2023 model a couple of weeks ago (Black) won’t be doing much off road only the odd camping trip, mods so far is 12v socket, centre stand, Hondas knuckle guards and a radiator guard, enjoy your new bike, love mine!!
Hi Saffy, great bike!! My daughter has the CBR500R and she absolutely loves that 500cc Honda engine and is also looking at upgrading to the X. Don't waste your money on heated grips, just use the heated gloves, they work better. Crash bars, bash plate and a good exhaust (with protective plate)! Also if you have a good top box and an available pillion seat, no need for side luggage as it make filtering a pain! I have travelled like that for years and never missed anything!
Will have to call you snazzy sprocket now. Nice bike 🏍
Looks a good choice safs 😊👍. Reference heated grips , get battery operated heated gloves instead , they warm up your whole hand instead of just your palms , get with a spare battery so you’ll get at least six hours on high heat , you’ll never have to buy heated grips again + the bit I like 👍 you can where them of the bike to keep your digits warm in the winter , have some new happy adventures. Oh and never put the bike on the centre stand on grass it will just sink , aye up 😂😂
I believe congratulations are in order. good looking bike, sensible choice as well considering the roads I've seen you take. It is not yet a 'Saffy' bike with the pink accents but who knows.. I wish you good travels and many, many happy times with your new travel companion.
Great choice, excellent bikes
Thats a great bike Saffy, as someone has previously said, engine protection is a must. Ride safe and enjoy.
Yes! Looking into it asap, is any there one you'd particularly recommend?
I would always say, buy the best you can afford, SW Motech spring to mind, not the cheapest, but very good quality.
Can't wait to see what you have bought loving you vlogs you are a crazy lady❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!!
Brilliant saf.
I'm super excited 😍
Centre stands, I remember when every bike came with one as standard, in true Rocky Horror style, it's just a push down with the foot and a lift up and back with the bike!
Can't go wrong with the 500 Honda's - Just Ordered the CL500 for myself - enjoy, will look forward to the continuing adventures.
lovely looking bike, can't wait to say hello at ABR
I'm bringing some goody bags too :D
Congratulations!
Thank you so much 😊
Nice choice. Pretty good bike from what I hear about it!
Just adding my , it's a great choice Saffy.
So happy for you ❤
Excellent bike. Had one for 7 years now and can't bear to part with it. Mods include touring tall screen. Crash bobbins, heat grips, handguards, centre stand, USB charger and full Honda touring luggage. Fantastic fuel economy but a firm seat. You'll love it..😊
have had 4 of these over the years .each one gets better and better . now 74 and on scooters as my left foot wont swivel to change gear . enjoy your new bike .your enthusiasm is really nice to see . .
I've only heard good things about them!
Love your choice of the Honda 500x as your new bike and I can see how excited with it you are. We wait in anticipation for your info on what is to become of the SV. When will you be riding again, the weather is perfect at the moment. 😊
Very soon! Just been playing catch up with work!
I think you made a great choice, it is a good bike.
nice new chariot Saffy, enjoy x
Awesome welcome to the club
Hey, thanks!
Your excitement makes me smile. I've never had a cb x, supposedly they're amazing and basically bullet proof, awesome work saffy
Hi Saffy, Lots of good advice below about using the centre stand and some have mentioned technique. For any bike, try to keep your arms and back straight, bend at the knees and use your (much stronger) legs to lift and then the weight of your upper body to move the bike backwards. Left foot pressure on the centre stand, and right foot rearwards of course. Good luck with the new machine!
Sorry, forgot to mention, keep the wheels straight and there is nothing to stop you installing a grab handle (for the right hand) in exactly the right place for you.
Thats a big bike!
Can’t believe I’ve never seen one of these before! That is a sexy colour! Definitely looking into one of these myself now.
Nice choice of bike, great colour scheme......
Hey Saffy, great choice of bike, well done... I've got one here in South Africa 🇿🇦 I've a few videos of the stuff I've added to the bike too....and doing all sorts of lekke trips with it.. you will have a ball 😁👍🏻 ..
love the new bike and the colour
Great bike ,great colour choice, butty of mine owns the older one he loves it
