    Got to love the Scandinavians. I drove a hire car into a snow covered ditch in Sweden during the world rally championships. Minutes later a van pulled up and 12 or so giant Norwegians jumped out of the rear and hauled the car back onto the road. Great people, great memories.

    I admire your writing especially describing the crisis situation. This are some deep thoughts. I think you should pursue this style as it differentiates you.
    Thank you for keeping it real!
    Btw - if you didn't start patreon yet - you should. I think some folks here would sponsor your trip back to the Nordkap and to get your bike back home.

      I'm really sorry that you went through all of that.
      If you go back to ride your bike back home try to do so more during the season when the weather is better (I'm sure that the bike gang that you helped you can tell you the best time to go), then try to follow the coast more while in northern Norway, the main road doesn't show you just how amazing northern Norway actually is.
      People rush to the North Cape missing out on areas of Norway every bit as beautiful as the west coast because they're rushing along the main road.
      And I don't want you to loose out on what northern Norway has to offer.
      Also, yes, I think a lot of us want to support you.
      Although unfortunately I can't afford to help much myself... :-/

    Hey, Saffy, i am glad that you are Ok now. And i am happy that you reach the North Cape !!!
    I am from Bulgaria and my journey to the North Cape was in 2018 / 10 000 km round/ and i remember absolutely clear this strong winds and gusts - the strongest i am ever experienced. When i was there 2 big BMW GS was flip over and lay on the ground, many bikers was hiding from the gusts in the low land near the road. Riding in this conditions is hard but unforgettable !

      There are those who have gone down and those who will (and there is a Venn diagram overlapping those two groups).
      I had my BMW R1200RT fall over on me last year trying to get out of a heavily cratered gravel parking lot in rural Alabama. A man pulled over before I could get out from under the bike, checked on my well being, and then helped get that big heavy bike upright so I could shuffle off with what was left of my dignity.
      These roadside heroes do restore my faith in humanity.
      I’m so sorry for the pain and broken bones and tough recovery.

  • @mw3683
    @mw3683 8 місяців тому

    Saffy, this is one of the most impressively honest, vulnerable and moving videos I've seen a motorcycle youtuber make. Not cutting out any of the emotional bits made it very very relateable. That is not a fail in my book.
    Even as a traveler you didn't fail, you had an accident. Winds nearly blew me of the road in Norway aswell. You will heal, you'll conquer more challenges.
    Lastly I just wanted to say thanks. Had my own gust of wind blow a relationship out of my hands a couple weeks back. Was too painful to cry, i felt like a failure. Somehow you helped, it is such a relief

    Breaking your ribs on a motorcycle when it's stationary is a new one on me but then again I've had some offs which have been just as ridiculous. I'm sure it was bloody painful. I've hurt ribs playing rugby and I remember being scared to cough or sneeze! Is the bike a bit too tall for you? Maybe something with a lower centre of gravity would be more stable in bad conditions, a Kawasaki Vulcan for example? Adventure is what you do on any motorbike, not just on an "Adventure Bike" which is just a daft name the media dreamt up.

    • @SaffySprocket
      @SaffySprocket  11 місяців тому +1

      Breaking ribs in such a bizarre way was definitely unexpected! And you're spot on about the pain-it's no joke. As for the bike's height, it's a factor to consider for sure. Lower centre of gravity could indeed offer more stability, so I'll keep that in mind. And you're absolutely right about adventure-it's about the spirit, not just the bike you ride. Thanks for the insight! 🏍️

But you got back up on the Bike (in a tizzy, panic set in, embarrassment aside no time to put things back to order) your spirit shone through and you didn’t want to disappoint your followers.
