Today, I'm hashing out the best teams in the Legend of Dragoon! Shana, Meru, Rose, Lavitz, Kongol, and Haschel are all included in this list, so let's get spicy and rank them - but in pairs! The PS4/PS5 rerelease of this game has revitalized it, and I'm excited to see what you think of this list!

Dart/meru/kongol is peak dragoon.
I've used Kongol since I was 12, I didn't stop when I replayed the game at 21, and I'm not gonna stop now at 30.
Kongol is peak, pop a speed up and power up on him and he solos bosses.
Same dart rose kongol i played at 11 then beat it at 18 now at 31 im playing it agian falling in love all over
I just love the synergy between Albert and Lavitz when Albert joins the team
As much as I admire Haschel as a fighter I find his additions too crazy to pull off. I always go with Meru and Rose
That's why I grinded for gold. I bought two ultimate wargods, and got my third off the phantom ship. I also got legend armor for Meru while I was busy doing that.
you know Ive always had the opposite. Meru to me is too tricky to ever max her out and use her like the damage dealer I know she is.
@@EmeraldDragoon Meru is very quick but I didn't find her too hard to follow. She's incredibly useful as a healer with her dragoon ability and she's nippy as hell.
If you dislike haschel, how do you feel about Albert?
Same. I usually run rose meru mainly because I can max their additions most of the time.
I recall I grinded everyone to level 60 with max additions to see how much damage everyone does, and Kongol and Dart were always in the bottom (aside from Shana). Haschel was doing one of the top damage even without low HP with Destroyer Mace.
EDIT: I found my old notes! The damage done by each character to Triceratops are as below, in order of lowest to highest, and for Dart and Rose, I included their 2nd best weapon as well, due to the drawbacks of Soul Eater and how late your get Rose's best weapon.
Dart - 1,773 (Claymore); 2,056 (Soul Eater)
Kongol - 2,084 (Indora's Axe)
Meru - 2,279 (Basher)
Albert - 2,385 (Halberd)
Rose - 1,848 (Gladius); 2,458 (Dragon Buster)
Haschel - 2,472 (Destroyer Mace 100% HP); 3,708 (Destroyer Mace 50% HP); 4,944 (Destroyer Mace 25% HP)
This really shows how S-tier Haschel (highest male speed and highest damage) and Meru (middle damage between the 2 end with highest female speed) truly are. If you count in the Dragon Buster damage, Rose would be high A-tier as a DPS (2nd highest damage, and even the lowest female speed of 55 is not that bad as it is still better than Dart's 50).
I plan on doing something similar with base equipment at 60 and seeing how all the disc 4 fights go, I’d like to save the dragoons/faust/point of no return. So sadly I gotta grind birds forever lmao.

yay justice for Kongol. I really think if Rose wasn't so useful in Disc 1, Kongol wouldn't be seen as the worst character by most people and instead that'd be Rose. If you graph her usefulness throughout the game it is basically a steep cliff once you start getting access to everyone else's potential and her being rather stagnant overall in growth.
10 year old me was all about Dart/Lavitz/Rose because of the early game, with Kongol mixed in. I've beaten this game almost every year since then, and Kongol always makes a cameo!
Dart, Meru and Shana may be a squishy party, but the enemy can't kill you if they're already dead(and even bosses usually don't end up getting more turns than you can count on one hand). The only fight I've ever had durability issues with that party composition is Lenus 1 because it is basically the opposite of any of the Rose party comps in that it is weak early on but peaks with some ridiculous clear speeds later.
Shana Dragoon is really good in the back third-to-quarter of the game, but very weak in the front half, while Meru Dragoon doesn't even exist in the front half. If you're limiting to the "casual" playstyle that uses a lot of Dragoon and Special, and not a lot of attacking items, this party takes way too long to get good (but kills when it gets there). Remove that restriction, though, and this team becomes an easy S tier the second it becomes available. Knowing the game well and keeping the right items stocked, this team will tear through pretty much everything you put in front of it.
Appreciate the kongol love, I do agree that Lavitz/kongol though should be somewhat high up on the tier list. Blasting through everything while not caring about damage due to hp pools and rose storm is the true easy mode here.
If you give Kongol the broken helm he can’t did to magic anymore except the optional boss.

Lavitz and Meru is the easy mode.
The most important thing to remember is: You can use any team, even the worst, and still win the game. Legend of Dragoon is not so difficult of a game that you have to actually worry about min-maxing!
That said, Rose is my favorite character and I am now going to go on a 108-point tirade of how she should be in every team...

I can give 11,000 reasons. One for each year since the Dragon Campaign
I'm definitely a Kongol stan, and my all time favorite team to play as, is the brute force, Dart/Big Al/Kongol.
However in my current playthrough of the remaster, my main switches between Dart/Meru/Kongol and Dart/Meru/Albert. Just depends on if I feel I need Rose Storm or not for a particular battle.
No matter the party, this is still my personal favorite game of all time; from 11 years old, until right now at 34.
Justice4kongol! My first party was dart Kongol and lavitz, I was so weak to magic, I had a legend casque and that was the only way I could survive
Realizing that my childhood playthrough was the worst team in the game (Rose Kongol, no Legend equipment lmao) makes a lot of sense why 10 year old me struggled so much at the end of the game.
IMO, there's no bad characters. They just hit their best power spike at different points of the game. Rose and Kongol are really strong early mid game, Meru and Haschel are your super late game carries, Lavits is generally good all game. And there's Shana for people who can't addition
When i was a kid i Ran Dart, Kongol, and Rose and i couldnt beat the game at all which left me to believe the game was super duper hard af. Many years later...i went with the same team again and beat it and im genuinely curious on what on earth changed to have me actually win with the same team i couldnt beat the game with as a kid. I still struggled but it didnt feel as unforgiving as i remember.
Because you got better, LoD is actually very easy to beat if you know how to play the game optimally. Especially additions, if you can master additions, there is almost no need to go into dragoon mode as additions do more damage than dragoon. You also roughly know when opponent's turn is coming and can pre guard to heal and take reduced damage. Gearing and preparing for specific bosses also makes the battle much easier.
Dart, Rose, and Kongol was my team that I beat the game with. However, I had to build a different team for the fight with the Divine Dragon because I just couldn't beat it with that team. For that fight I used Dart, Albert, and Meru.
Commenting for the boyfriend bringing food mid recording and it's got fresh garlic bread sticks. That man is a keeper.
On my second most recent playthrough I ran Rose and Meru and Rose did just fine. But on my most recent playthrough I started to run the same team but Rose died in an earlier boss fight, missed the exp, fell behind slightly, and then died in the next boss fight, fell behind a little more... and so on until I switched her out for Haschel, who dominated for the rest of the game.
Rose to me is mandatory. Can’t get enough of the goth chick vibes even if she’d mid 😢
one thing I would like to point out about speed boosting equipment that some people don't seem to realize. The slower characters get more benefit from speed boosts because the speed increase is fixed. example: Kongol has 30 speed but if we give him the shoes and rings his speed is 70. giving him about 133% increase in speed. effectively more than doubling his dps. but if we do it to Haschel his speed goes from 60 to 100. only about a 66% increase in speed. thats less than half the percentage value of Kongol. Not saying its strictly better to give speed boost to the slower character but you are technically getting more value.
A better analysis would be depriving enemies their turn. From that perspective giving to faster characters is a better value as you can defeat enemies decreasing their number of turns.
First time I beat the game I was using heschel and lavitz. Also am I the only one that didn't realize that offensive items scale with magic the first time playing?
came here strictly to say we need a remake of this game whether it be HD-2D or full blown modern graphics. I'll take whatever I can get!

One thing that may save Rose in your eyes... If you stack all Bandit's Shoes and Bandit's Ring on Dart and the Dancer's Shoes and Ring on Rose, you can go Dragoon with Rose every other turn and Astral Drain to help top off Dart with his health depletion from Soul Eater without having pause your damage from Rose.

Ya, you’d be better off using Meru or Shana than Rose for that strategy. But a therapy ring is better than a bandits ring for Dart with the soul eater equipped
Gonna have to defend Rose, as she's better than most people give her credit for!
my first run through this game (or most of it at least) I used Rose and Meru, and only had issues with a certain Dragoon Buster wielding guy. Granted, I didn't play the game all that smartly back then, but even so, I found Rose to be a consistent powerhouse right alongside Meru. Her Astral Drain gives decent healing to the party, and her Demon's Gate can potentially end a random battle instantly. Much like, well, everyone else in this game, Rose's power through the game mainly relies on how much you use her (additions especially, as they're the main source of power for characters not named Shana or Miranda).
Also, I gotta say Meru and Shara/Miranda as a team should be higher. Most of the really dangerous bosses are spell casters (at least in my experiences), and these two boast quite a lot of Magic Defense, even without a Legend Casque. Dying with these two is pretty hard, as Meru has a party heal, and Shana/Miranda can revive multiple teammates if things get really bad, and these two gals can turn those attack items eating up space in your inventory into powerful nukes, as Attack Items scale off your Magic Stat, which Meru & Shana/Miranda have a lot of (though they're best saved for Shana/Miranda to toss, since Meru has her incredibly powerful additions to use). Their Final Spells are also both devastatingly powerful, Meru's being (iirc) the earliest (and possibly only) attack to hit the damage cap, and Shana's/Miranda's healing the party to full on top of the massive damage dealt to the enemies. The only way to make this team better, imo, is to replace Dart with Haschel or Kongol (probably Kongol since he's got better bulk than Haschel), since Dart is incredibly lackluster in every regard, and his final spell is "bugged" to deal FAR less damage than it should.

Hey Tantacles, I was thinking on something yesterday after we discussed the Lavitz build... Using the Mage Ring OR pairing the Mage Ring with Additions that grant only one Dragoon bar allows ANY 1 character to be capable of spamming any of their spells that aren't their Level 5 Dragoon Spells every other turn. If you wanna spam your 30 MP spells, you can pair the Mage Ring with the Magical Hat, but if you just plan on using your 20 MP spells, then you can equip ANY hat/helm.
I struggle with wanting flat mp increases or regen, regen is better, but I’d prefer to have the accessory slot open for something else, so magical hat is usually my go-to and I try to manage the mp that way

In my opinion, Lavitz/Albert and Rosie should be in Rank S. The following are the strengths of this team.
They are two participants in the group very early and learned the earliest Final Addition in the game. This means that they will take very little time to get the ultimate power and help players complete the game very quickly and quite simply.
Rosie's Magic Astral Drain is like a small version from Shana's White-Silver Dragon. And in fact, the power of this magic is up to 50%, not 25% in the description. Just like Rosie's magic is not bad, especially at Disk 1 when Rosie also surpasses Shana in power of Magic. It was not until LV 14 15 that Shana regained the most powerful Magician title of the team.
If the middle and the end of the game, then surely Astral Drain is sometimes weaker than the Dart's Final Burst. But that's when we don't use the Special Darkness for Rose. At this point we see the ability to create shields from Albert's Rose Storm combined with the ability to "suck blood" from Rosie is really great. And do not forget Dart, he is still a very good magic character in the form of Dragoon for the "stab" Final Burst.
In general, the actual tactics are to proactively use Albert to use Rose Storm, then return to Human and then use Rosie to use 2 Final Addition to hit quickly win all BOSS matches.
With Bandit's Ring early will help Lavitz/Albert "torture" the bosses with Flower Storm very comfortable, that is not to mention the Twister Glaive weapon helps Albert to lower a lot Grand Jewel, Belzac. As for Rose, it was already quite fast with 55 Speed, and at Disk 3, she would increase to 75 thanks to Dancer's Shoes and from there the duo scanned every match more easily.
Finally, the powerful weapon "Dragon Buster" at the end of the game for Rose ... as well as Dart has Divine Dragoon makes the battle with the last boss more easily.
With Bandit's Ring available early, it will help Lavitz/Albert "torture" bosses with Flower Storm very comfortably, not to mention the Twister Glaive weapon that helps Albert defeat a LOT of EARTH-ELEMENT bosses like Kongol 2nd, Gehrich and Grand Jewel, Belzac. As for Rose, she is already pretty fast with 55 Speed, and by the beginning of Disk 3 she will increase to 75 thanks to Dancer's Shoes and from there the duo sweeps every match even easier.

This is a great format. You should do a team tier list for Xenoblade Definitive Edition. My favorite team is Shulk, Dunban, and 7.
Man yal ain't using Rose right at all. She does fall off pretty hard, but she's really good early. She's very offensive minded though. Her and Lavitz make a really solid team. "But what about healing?" I hear you ask. Well that's what items are for. Rose is great with items too. Items are broken in this game. Rose throwing some attack items just ends fights throughout the first half of the game. Plus with Lavitz giving everyone great damage reduction, Rose being a bit squishy isn't that big of a deal. Rose and Haschel make a great offensive team as well. They put out a lot of damage basically through disk 3. Ya they are a bit squishy, but who cares about that if your enemy is dead. The best defense is a good offense.
I'm not going to lie though, Rose is my favorite character in this game, and Rose & Meru is my favorite team. I just wish Rose didn't fall off as hard as she does at the end.
Haschel and Meru forever. My favorite combo. I think I've beaten the game about a dozen times so far and it's always comes out to that combo. It's just that good.
Albert Kongol was my go to team growing up. I died more times than I should, but I had to show my older brother up with that Kongol support.

I've played this game so many times. My favourite PS1 game for sure. My first playthrough was Dart, Rose, Kongol and I always go back to it. I've never not been able to beat anything with this team and it is my favourite team. Hands down my favourite character is Lavitz
I'm just gonna say it... Lavitz/Meru is better than Haschel/Meru.
I always did Lavitz and Rose, everyone else's additions always felt too hard, but i have not played in so long i kinda want to try again

Rose needs that phantom armor to be relevant
My first two times beating the game my party was Dart Rose Kongol. I was a dumb kid.
Just did a quick playthrough of LoD using Shana/Rose. My rules were no 5k/10k equips, no grinding, no save states/rewind for killing unique monsters, no use of prior knowledge to stockpile specific elemental attack items. They crushed. The Physical Ring being accessible disc 1 meant durability for Rose was never a problem. Rose crushes the early game with her absurd damage with items, Shana takes over mid disc 2 to crush through until the final boss, at which point its time for Rose to take back over with great damage.
I kept getting to "roadblock" bosses and walking right through. Didn't bother healing against Lenus. I think Grand Jewel took something like 5 minutes, again without healing.
I entered the MF fight with a bunch of attack items left over from when I entered the final area. I still had a bunch when MF died. MF actually died too fast for me to need to heal outside of the Therapy Rings Rose and Dart had equipped. I went in to the fight with three Healing Fogs and didn't even end up using any. The only Dragoon Magic used were Shana's dragon and DDC.
The game also isn't THAT hard, so maybe I will find them to be a lower tier team compared to some others. Meru/Haschel are just unfair for the final fight. Haschel/Kongol will probably have to be my next run, followed by Lavitz/Meru.
I used to be able to perform additions without looking at the screen, back in the day that is.. 😅 I grinded and mastered additions for the legend casque..
I always thought that the best combo is always Dart with 1 guy and 1 girl. The lack of bandit shoes really decreases the efficiency of 3 guys party combo. Even with Rose storm, lenus can walk circles around the Albert/Kongol team due how slow they are.
Everything else, i agree with.
My last playthrough I had everybody very over leveled all game. I spent 13 hours grinding in the home of giagantos for rings. I used Albert kongol and she was the only boss other then the optional ones that killed somebody and made me use a healing item. I think she is the hardest boss in the game.
love seeing Legend of Dragoon and seeing people get more in depth with the mechanics and characters.
I was always curious if there exists a mod that allows you to bring any team combination into battle? because it would be really interesting and i feel like it would really open up the game for tons of interesting team comps if you didn't always have to bring Dart.

I always ran lavits and meru. Good to know I picked S tier. I still think it might be the best comp, i say as someone who hasn't played the game in 15 years and only beat it twice.
Haschel's Hex Hammer is the most trickiest addition in the game imo
I am trying Rose/Kongol because of this list. It's surprisingly good haha. It's a bit suicide tactics and in the realm of "I played too much LoD", so as a first party it is definitely kongol tier. I honestly thought it was a challenge but it isn't haha.
The reason is Rose gets hard blade when Kongol joins the party, and kongol gets inferno at level 23. So it's possible to max out both Rose and Kongol by farming phantom ship. By the start of chapter 3, in the high end you get both rose and kongol hitting for 1 k damage when dart does something like 300-500. Just let Dart use a healling breeze once in a while and you are good to go.
On one hand, I think Rose is interesting because she's one of the few characters who can heal and deal damage at the same time. On the other hand...I mean, Meru hits harder and generates SP faster while having both better healing and better damaging magic; Shana/Miranda's the better dedicated healer if you can work around her crap SP generation; Lavitz/Albert's Flower Storm is a clutch as hell defensive buff plus he's one of the tankier characters inherently...think you nailed it with "good early game, kinda meh late game" judgment for her.
My go-to teams are Dart/Meru/Haschel or Dart/Meru/Albert for bosses, Dart/Albert/Haschel for exploration.
For anyone going "Everyone knows all the spoilers" my friend is someone I actually JUST got into The Legend of Dragoon about a month ago.
You never know when someone'll get into the game.
I remember beating the game for the first time as a teen using Dart Haschel and Kongol as my party for the majority of the game. I made it so hard for myself without even knowing it but i refused to change my party because dumb and i brute forced my way literally through the game. I unga'd and bunga'd until i just couldnt unga bunga anymore
DOOD I did the exact same thing! TWICE XD! Both times I beat the game this was my go to team. Never realizing till recently that I was basically playing on Hard mode. Plus I was underleveled XD. How the hell I beat this game like this I'll never know but in the end I still love this game.

If you used a game shark or modded game that allowed you to have all equipable items from the start of the game, and those items were infinite. What would be your ideal team? Ie dart had soul eater and therapy ring lvl1 and everyone could have bandit shoes.
My current run is a Rose and Shana challenge run, and man am I hurting, and I haven't even beaten the first disk yet!
The only time I've finished the whole game was like 20 years ago and I did dart/kongol/Albert. It was powerful in my child mind and it really carries hard when kongol puts up big numbers. After watching your vids I realize how bad the team was but now I have reasons to replay now
Am I the only one who has played this game so much that I recognize how BROKEN Dart - Shana - Meru is? They aren't dying. They nuke every field with magic that you need them too, run from the rest, and kill bosses in roughly 2-3 rounds without any worry and no Psyche Bomb X.
Like...I do not know why people rate Shana withoutbmagic items. She was clearly made for them and by level 9 she starts ohtpacing everyone by gaining 5 in the magic stat every level. Mostly for that super early game balancing. Even then hitting Uroborus for 70 damage with any spell is just chef's kiss.
Ok this is fair. The problem is one that I illustrated in my shana solo run, though: you just run out in the endgame once you can’t buy them anymore.
Granted, though, I don’t think most people play this game with my particular handicaps. 🤪🤪
I will also say that at lower levels meru and shana do have some frailty issues.
I'm legit confused why there's a review of a 1999-2000 RPG that so few still remember today. And then I checked and they release the game digitally in PSN.
Great, another reason to lament the fact my PS4 Pro bricked on me last year.
I just beat LOD a couple days ago. I've played this game since it first came out over 20 years ago. This run, I've ultimized everyone, mastered all their additions, saved and purchased 3 Legend Casques, Armor of Legends, an Ultimate Wargod and a Phantom Shield. I also solved the treasure chest puzzle to get the Ultimate Wargod and defeated Faust to get another Phantom Shield. My best run so far! Favorite team is Dart, Meru and Hashael. I got Lavitz's master addition before he died and doing that, I was able to level up Shana's dragoon to at least level 3 before Lavitz died.
one consideration is having rose with dancer's shoes (forget the hairpin) and then shana or meru with the angel robe/holy ankh combo. They will die, yes, but they will just come back. And coming back with 50% health seems bad at first, but if you're at 30%, die, and then come back to 50%, that means you not only didn't have to waste a turn guarding, but you also healed 20% instead of 10%. Rose is weak, yes, but with dancer's shoes she's fine. You can even kill lavitz in a rose/lavitz party each boss to pour that exp into Rose. Then ditch Lavitz haha.

Could you guys make a party tier list for a challenge run? (ie. No extra levelling, no overpowered accessories or armor, no attack items, no use of repeatable items, no rose storm. You only do the necessary normal fights & bosses to progress through the game, so no optional content either)
Then I think for example Meru & Rose compositions would be at the bottom, while Dart & Haschel (maybe albert) would be at the top with Kongol & Shiranda somewhere in the middle.
Also another video for individual tier list with challenge mode would be cool 😊 Meru actually sucks within those limitations.
I beat the game with albert rose at age 11, it was quite rough, but i was so happy when i finished :)

Dart/Rose/Kongol is my go to team. Has been since my first playthrough, and I regret nothing! I've played through the game twelve times, and I think there have only been one or two times that I haven't used that team.
i beat the game back in the day with Haschel/Rose and finding out now that I made it way harder for myself than it had to be is hurting my feelings. YOU HURT MY FEELINGS!

I feel that shana and kongol is an A tier. They cover each other solidly. Hascel and kongol is also A tier. Your opinion is still valid, that's just mine
The main issue for has and kong is no healing support and having to figure out speed items for them. Dart I agree gets the magic greaves for only 10 not best speed but helps. kongol with the bandit shoes is made usable and angel scarf helps reduce magic damage he takes, I know the 1 the removes all is their but I don't feel angel sca is that broken. Has is fast and has good defense so just 1 speed item is fine. The healing is set more on dart healing with items when necessary and has can if required since he will still get another attck before most others. Kong shouldn't heal ever lol. In most of my runs I try to not use the truly broken Items like speed up and such or legends, that's my challenge.
It's okay, Rose can be the worst fighter in the game because she's the best written character in a narrative sense.

I used Haschel and Meru for the first time on my most recent plaaythrough, and it was like playing on easy mode. It was great, loved the additions
My Main Teams:
Dart, Lavitz/Albert, Rose
Dart, Albert, Kongol
Dart, Haschel, Albert
Dart, Haschel, Kongol
Dart, Shana/Miranda, Kongol (actually beat Melbu Frahma with this team)
Dart, Meru and Kongol. As long as you can put a bandit ring and boots on Kongol than he has the same speed stat as Dart as is more than viable. I almost always use this team, but I am thinking of doing a Meru and Haschel team up soon.
I think you guys overlooked Rose big time here. In my experience, she's not as frail as people seem to think and has options to increase her defense, and her physical damage is insane through most of the game. You can get her final addition pretty early and it's damage multiplier is the highest out of the entire party. Combine that with utility in her level one magic and her level 4 magic being a single-target nuke, she's an excellent glass cannon.
Put her with Albert to reduce damage or Shana/Miranda to for the healing output and then just let her tear through things.
Without shame, my first playthrough was Dart Rose Shana. I can certainly see why it places so low; I think I ended up switching up to Dart Shana Meru in a later play, much better. :)
I always used Meru and Shana/Miranda and actually felt like the game was too easy in a lot of ways, because my team was so difficult to kill between Shana being dedicated to healing and Meru being a damage dealer with a healing Dragoon ability if needed (and then Dart just solely focused on damage). I feel like even though the overall damage was lower, it made the game super easy because my party members had such clearly defined roles that it made decision making a breeze.
I max everyone's additions and dragoon levels. I juggle my team depending on where I am in the game, what boss I'm fighting, and who needs to be completed. After I max out a character, I normally put them away and run Dart, Rose , and Haschel. For the final boss, I run Dart, Rose, and Shana ( just for the aoe bow)
Dart, Rose and Lavitz/Albert are my usual go to team. Mainly for speed and balanced out strength. Rose's lvl 1 may not be the best in late game but it helps in a pinch

Lavitz Kongol is fun. Carry a bunch of Healing Fog and you're good.
Lavitz Meru is busted, my personal favorite.
Meru Rose is just bad. This was a late game swap out of Haschel for Rose because I just couldn't stand doing his additions and still wanted to try someone new. Never again with Rose.
When I was a wee babby doing my first playthru of Dragoon waaaaaay back in the day, I remember my very first team was Dart, Rose, n Kongol. And uhh, I also kinda had no idea how additions worked, like, how you're supposed to use other ones to eventually work towards the final, ultimate addition? So I just had Dart with Volcano, Rose with Whip Smack, and Kongol with Pursuit for the whooooole game. "Why would I switch to the other ones, these are the three additions that I know how to do," thought tiny, baby-brain me. I wanna say it was fun, but I bet if I tried that today I'd very quickly go insane. x3
Shana/Rose should be bit higher. even if Rose dies a lot, thats where shana comes in. besides, Rose has a decent additions that dish good damage.
any team with Shana can survive anything.
My go to team is rose and kongol I've always grinded for everything in the game and done everything in each of the 3 play throughs I've done so far. I suppose if I didn't grind so hard I can see rose and kongol not being so great
Dart Haschel and Kongol was my dream team when the game came out. Didn't understand additions all those years ago but I can listen to their attacks and do those additions with my eyes closed after forcing myself to learn that much.
Rose was always my favorite character in the game and I never had issues beating the game. Idk I always thought she was super badass
I would kill for a mod where Dart is the figurehead of the party, but isnt required to fight in the party.
My very first playthrough was with Hashel and Kongol. Bulky and does massive physical damage.
Oh, c'mon, Rose has the same feature Kongol has having few relatively simple additions with good multiplier in the final one. Being way faster, having serviceable magic and not competing for Bandit's shoes. Her squishiness resolves same way Meru does with a dragon helm. She's a worse Haschel and should be treated as such. I wanna try a Rose/Kongol run, don't think it's gonna be that bad. Rose/Shana - probably not, it's seems as bad as it sounds.

I need to replay this game again. Played it back on the og PlayStation and this is easily one of my top five video games ever. Also my team for like half of the game was dart haschel and kongol. They may not be fast but they were tanks for me and hit hard. Glad Im not the only one who noticed rose quickly got weaker further in the game like when she showed up she was actually good but by second chapter halfway through she didn't have an edge anymore.
Dart, Haschel and Meru. Idk if any other lineup comes close.
Rose's problem is there slow growth after the start. Early she's S Tier however by mid game
...not so much. I'm one of the people who grind up all characters and I'm running meru and hashel however I did get the Legendary armor for meru however after watching these videos I started using meru.
I just finished a playthrough for the first time in 15 years literally 2 hours ago and I ended up mostly using Lavitz/Shana. Mage Ring/Magical Hat on Shana for lots of Dragons. Then I used Shana/Rose in the last fight lol.
I dont know why but i always equip haschel with one of the therapy rings since you get 2
I gotta be honest my first complete run of this game I played through with lavits and kongol. I’d bump it to a low A personally
First off, I defeated the game with Rose and Kongol. Second, for Meru and Kongol, I have a creative style... Pandemonium used on Kongol and Speed Up used on Meru
As a person who used Kongol and Albert as main allies for the longest time I'd go high b tier honestly. Only down side is Kongols leak of magical ability and def. Physically he tanks but magic takes him down fast
But magic attacks is all of the big bosses??? The random enemies use physical but they’re such a non-threat that Meru and Shana can deal with them no prob.
@@gamingwhilebroken2355 yes but when you get into further in (prob mid disc 3 and all disc 4) more of the enemies use magical attacks too
Rose is like an opposite Dart, she starts stronger than him but then everything she can do past lvl 20, Dart can do better. I think it is fitting, it is like her passing on her leadership role to Dart and rapidly fading in strength to symbolize this.
She nukes with her spell damage early game but quickly outpaced by the other girls.
She hits reasonably hard with her melee early game, but ends up weaker than everyone expect the other girls.
She is not particulary fast, and quite squishy all game.
So yeah:
Strengths: Strong magic early, quite strong melee dps early, and reasonable speed early
Weakness: Always fragile in hp, and only mediocre defences, falls off hard later
Also just remember if it wasn't for Rose we never would have gotten to play as the others. Her actions are what kick off most of the game's plot after all
Dart, Haschel and Meru is an absolute powerhouse of a team. I use them every single time, but on my current plauthrough I'm trying something else 🤣 I'm gonna be using this list for reference

Today I learned I was playing LoD on the hardest setting possible. Dart/Rose/Kongol for life!
My team back when I first beat this game as a teenager was [Lazvitz] and Rose. Despite liking RPGs I was kinda stupid. Took me forever to beat Faust.
