Today, we're talking about EVERY SINGLE SPELL from the Legend of Dragoon. Which Dragoon will come out on top? Rose, Meru, Shana, Dart, Lavitz, Haschel, or Kongol? Well, it won't be Kongol, that's for sure.

Would love a list of your proposed changes to each character!
Yes! This should in fact be your next video! One thing I'd like to add though is to make sure the changes aren't as simple as "Make so and so faster", but maybe some nerfs to some (Meru) would be needed, she sadly doesn't need a 600% damage Addition for example. I have some great ideas if it was me, but it isn't so yah lol.
Shana needs a single target *SMITE* spell from the heavens that she can charge from her bow instead of the Heaven's Gate. Star children really could just be buffed.
All of Kongol's Spells should literally just be support buff moves 1 that enhances just def (not to the degree of rose storm) 1 that enhances attacks and his dragon does damage and buffs at the same time. That or attract enemies to only target Kongol with attacks making him a sort of Protective Tank taking away attacks that would likewise kill someone else. This will at least make Kongol's spells playable.
@DragoonZell so I'd say, move her lvl3 spell to lvl2, and give it all of Merus benefits.
Star Children should be made 50% all as a lvl3.
All Dragon Spells 50mp cost across all characters.
Kongol gets Rose Storm as an earth based move, and Lalbert would lase it for something else, maybe an evasion buff of something, it's too good for such a decent character to have.
Kongols Bone crush get 500% damage at least.
All characters get 200% on all stats instead of 150 on their best stats, with maybe Kongol and other bad magic users getting 225-250%.
@@ZenKrio I know it's only endgame, but I'd give the Divine Dragoon the attack boost of the magic characters and the magic boost of the physical characters, and perhaps 300 percent defense. It should be obvious the Divine Dragoon is superior to Red Eye. This would leave Divine with 220/300/220/300.

Other changes I'd make that I can think of:
Kongols Earth Dragon would outright prevent damage from one attack, on top of a 100% damage all.
Shamiranda would have additions. Obviously lol. First, as simple as a double shot, adding some jumping flip shots with later ones.
Being the earth dragoon he really should of had some utility/shielding spells for the party instead of attacks
I'm gonna keep saying it, at 10 MP, Astral Drain is bottom S tier. If you compare with white dragon (80 MP), Rose can spam it ten times. But it's the only good spell she has.

Oh yeah and if anyone is wondering, Rose’s “Death By Snatch” spell is only changed in that the “Blood droplets” were changed from red to black for the NA version.
Kongol is some thicc beefcake, I'd go into his "tier" too! Rawr! Wish he wasn't Nerfed so hard in the game though.
I've been told that Rose's Demons Gate can destroy Boss minions like Guftas & Rodrigues so it does have some utility. Whether you get their drops at the end is the question I guess.
All in all, I agree with your placings. Good list!
I would love some character fixes, really. Like I could see Kongol with some mediocre MDEF making him more viable, Shana's base attacks getting an improvement in some way, and just so much more. Really hope you get to that video!

Either make Dart REMOVABLE from the Battle lineup, OR, allow “in-battle” party swapping, similar to Final Fantasy X.
Also, I love your videos, it’s great content and HILARIOUS!
It would be hilarious for you to swap dartz out of a battle only for him to jump in and strike the enemy down anyway
The changes I'd make is like this:
Dart: explosion 25 pwr -> 50 pwr, red eye dragon 75 pwr -> 100 pwr to make aoe more worthwhile.
Rose: death dimension 25 pwr -> 50 pwr, remove demon's gate and maybe add a spell that deals dmg and weakens the enemy (50 pwr single target and reduce attack or defence for example. That seems like something dark would do)
Haschel: Maybe switch out one spell for aoe dmg, and do something to make atomic mind useful
Shana/Miranda: lower mana cost of gates of heaven to align with Meru's rainbow breath. Star children 25 pwr -> 50 pwr (maybe) though she actually deals pretty good dmg with it untill getting silver dragon
Meru: Honestly very good already. She is supposed to be a good caster so I don't mind.
Kongol: A complete rework of his spells. I don't mind there being 3 not 4 spells, but they should atleast be useful. Buffing defences seems like something earth would do. Earth dragon can deal dmg 75 or 100 pwr to all and increase defence to the party for a few turns. 2nd spell can increase health and attack for a few turns on party. 1st spell can be single target 50 pwr and slow enemy a bit
Lavitz/Albert: honestly nerf rose storm a bit. Maybe it could buff the party with some speed since it is wind. Jade dragon could do 100 pwr dmg to all and buff magic defence for a few turns. Gaspless seems fine but lavitz/albert has too low magic. It either needs to be more powerful or do something in addition to dealing dmg, maybe lower magic defence on enemy. Wing blaster is too weak, minimum 50 pwr.
All of Shana's magic is S-Teir
You should make a video tutorial about landing some of the more difficult additions.

Brother, you had me hooked as soon as I heard "neener neener" lol. I love this game btw; very first rpg that i ever beat back in the day. 4 discs...I was blown away. I first played the demo from Playstation Underground, if you remember that.
Great job! Love the content, I thought I was pretty good with LOD lore and mechanics, but I learn something new with every video. keep it up man!

One of the best tier list videos keep up the good work and if I ever play legend of dragoon I'll try using more spell because I only used the item spells and mostly just used physical attacks

Ahaha, poor Kongol... It's a pity that he has such weak spells. Good tier list. I didn't doubt Meru's spells at all, since this funny girl is my favorite character in Legend of dragoons...I am glad that someone else remembers this wonderful game
Good list, I would argue gates of heavens is great if both party members are dead and your out of angels prayers, shana can legit save your run with that, that can seem niche, but if your planning on taking on faust, that can be a godsend, or even just good for casual players who may not grind/know that much.
As for some ideas on changes to make here are some of mine
Of the things I would change, I would give both kongol and lavitz at least 5 more speed, so their not nearly as bad compared to the female party members[and haschel], especially with dancers shoes, while still keeping them mid to low speed.
other things I would like to change-
-Rose starts scaling back up after low 20's due to story reasons[or you like to grind A LOT]
-Kongol gets a armor/weapon that increases speed at the cost of defense/attack
-fix RNG of bosses, so you don't get things like divine dragon fear shouting, followed by two party smacks or grand jewel spamming one characters weakness 2-3 turns in a row, or have them just spam their weakest stuff for 15 turns in a row and wonder why people had problems with it
-having some weapons accessible earlier, some characters go for a long time without upgrades and it can show during major boss battles
- maybe add the item pouch upgrade, but make it not available till mid to late disc 3[unsure when it's actually available in japanese version], as you'll really start to ramp up on repeatable items not long after that
-fixed numbers/text to indicate actual damage %, and adjust damage of certain spells or even add/replace spells, like giving kongol a party defense buff spell while he stays in dragoon forms[since hes the slowest, this will stay up for a while]
-bone crush goes up to at least 400%, kongol hits hard, but if meru can have a 600% addition and go at least 2-3 turns per kongol turn, theres no reason his final addition should be that weak, since hes slow, hes suppose to hit like a tank[I mean he does, but he shouldn't be outgunned as he is against meru/haschel, unless you buy/grind only for him]
It would be nice if they created a legend of dragoon about the dragon campaign
I'm playing Legend of Dragoon now. One of my favorite games. I got it when it first came out. Just FYI, Shana's Moonlight and Gates of Heaven does remove status effects. Moonlight is the ultimate healing magic and should be S-tier since no one else can revive. Gates of Heaven is the same as rainbow breath but cost more. So, one tier less than Rainbow Breath.
I use Shana on bosses but especially on special enemies with 4-6 hit points. Thanks to her, I was able to grind and buy all the Legend armors x3. About 2 per disk. I wanted Lavitz to use ultimate Flower Storm additon before he died.

So with explosion I actually don’t mind it as it’s helped me in group boss battles, prime example being the boss battle on the ghost ship. First fight I fell for the all the ghosts being able to revive each other and even got stronger till I couldn’t beat any of them. So what I did in round 2 was having Kongol hit them once cause doing his full first combo killed the ghost pirate grunts in the first fight. While that happens, I had dart and haschel focus on the ghost captain, knocking his health down until he reached red, and then after a couple of hits used explosion to wipe the whole group.

I'd just like to say this real quick about Rose's Death Dimension Spell- It can actually inflict the Fear status effect on enemies, which causes enemies to deal 50% less damage and take 50% more.
It's not a high chance of causing the effect, but it does make Rose's Dragoon Magic one of the more viable multi-hit spells to use against common enemies compared to others.
oh jesus christ they screwed up HALF of the spell stats? this explains so much. i always wondered why rose's astral drain was so much stronger than her other 25% spells, and why dart's dragon spell was kind of shit. thank you. damn
For me, Haschel spell is Kongol tier except Thunder God at A tier, and Thunder Dragoon at B tier (expensive cost)

(as you acn see on the reference of my channel name) you just earned a sub. while I dont agree with all of the tier list placement in this video, great video nontheless. would also love to maybe have a little chit chat with you since I've done a fair share of like "deep dive" videos about legend of dragoon myself.

I have always thought it weird that most Dragoons only get 4 spells, but 5 dragoon levels. Giving them all 5 spells would be pretty nice, and you could give them something they need and could use! Also I know they already give Lavitz and Kongol a boosted +200% base MAT stat in Dragoon form but maybe make that 250% for Kongol since his is so low? Even with that his magic attacks would still just be mediocre at best.. In general I feel like the MAT stats for Dragoons should generally be higher. It costs resources to use their spells, so they *should, always,* IMHO do more than additions which are 'free' to use. For single target spells, at least. The AoE spells can do less because they are AoE.
That said, here are some random ideas for a 5th spell which would be gained at Dragoon Level 4 because I like theorycrafting:
Dart: A utility spell, maybe a single-target Power Up for 3 turns effect for oh iunno 50mp or something. This would be very strong so he should have to blow his entire MP load to use it twice over a 5-turn Special. 50mp if he can cast it on others, maybe only 30mp if he can only cast it on himself, since it would be more powerful if he can cast it on Meru or someone else than only himself.
Rose: In the theme of Rose's spells generally being utility-oriented rather than just damage.. how about a Bad Breath, dealing 25% damage and inflicting multiple status effects like Poison + Confusion + Fear in an AoE for 30mp? Death Dimension already does fear though.. Rose's spells themselves are honestly pretty good already, it's just her lower-scaling MAT that lets them down.. Though, fix Demon's Gate to give full exp/gold/drops.
alternate Rose: utility spell which shrouds allied dragoons in mist for 3 turns, giving +30% evade and magic evade, for 20mp. An alternative to Rose Storm.
Lavitz: Tailwind, a 30mp spell which gives +20 Speed to all characters who are in Dragoon form for three turns. Since accessories do not typically work in Dragoon mode this means he can give Dragoons some more speedybro moments, but limited to Dragoon form because we DO NOT need Meru running around at 195 speed (with a Speed Up) as she might end up activating a time warp!
Shana: Give her a 30mp 75% single target holy damage spell. Done. Also specify that her healing spells do in fact heal status effects, and if Gates of Heaven does not heal status effects, make it do so. Along with fixing all the other text errors in the spell descriptions, of course.
Haschel: Give him an AoE damage spell, maybe a 30mp spell with 50% AoE like Meru's Diamond Dust.
Meru: Is perfect already but how about a 75% single target water attack for 30mp to give her another option because why not.
Kongol: Only gets 3 spells by default, and his MAT sucks. First, Kongol's dragoon form should give him +250% base MAT, not 200%, to help compensate for this. Without at least that much his spells are not even worth using for damage.
That said, could just give him some utility instead. I already put a Power Up elsewhere, though, and a Speed Up effect, sooo..
Level 2 Dragoon spell: Throw a boulder at a single enemy for 75% power for 30mp. It is silly that with how low his MAT is, Kongol's spells are also normally all AoE, which gimps them further. He should have a hard(er)-hitting single target option.
Level 4 Dragoon spell: Dragon's Warcry, for 40mp a buff which gives the entire party +10 dragoon speed (stacks with Tailwind but is also limited to Dragoon forms only), and gives Kongol himself an additional +50% magical damage and +10 additional dragoon form speed, for 3 turns. With a buffed MAT baseline in Dragoon mode and also this buff, Kongol's spell damage should be .. okay. It would probably still not be on Meru's level but it should be usable. Would allow Kongol at level 5 dragoon to use Warcry followed by 2 boulders for single target damage, or 2 Meteor Strikes/3 Grand Streams for AoE.
When I replayed this game, I went in expecting no depth to anything. After all, what did 12 year old me know in 2000? I was very surprised to see the game actually has a ton of depth and watching these videos, even after having 100%'d the game recently is so much fun!

I still argue if you need to grind for level to get additions or farm sachets and have a healing place Id say Demons Gate is a good spell for it. Because it's a quick clear of the board trying to get the item and levels. So for this B tier for me while it doesn't do damage on bosses.
I think in my videos there’s an underlying assumption that you’re not going crazy grinding every level of every addition or spell. Because with enough grinding and legendary armor, even kongol is S Tier.
Just use attack items with Shana and Meru, they will one shot most if not all minor enemies easily. If you have Psyche X bomb, you can basically free your inventory of any other attack items and one shot every random encounter easily with Shana. Demon's gate is great too no doubt but its just too slow given the animation and transformation. However like you said, Demon's Gate is still useful if you are grinding at an area where you aren't strong enough to one shot enemies.
Oddly when I visit the gang for the first time and when you get Kongol I like staying there to try and farm up Sachets. and being right there with a save point, piggys and the fireflies healing it is the perfect place to do it. And I just let Rose handle them. So this is before the pyscho X bomb happens and at this point I don't have a lot of magic items. And can I use them? Nah, cause Sachets are filling up my inventory. Also using this to get more additions at this point. But because it is a high MP and you won't use it unless to grind or to farm you don't need it and it doesn't hurt the bosses it is a B tier, well B tier is still consider to be good. A C tier spell really. It is better than Kongol's spells and the Jade Dragoon Wing Blaster. Shana's Star Children. (Once she has dragon that spell is useless) and Dart's Explosion.
I find it quite funny that Kongol got skipped
Demon's Gate does however eliminates minions in boss fights

I may be a little Late, but actually Divine Dragoon Cannon is a 100% non-elemental . I would change it to be above as Final Burst because of that

First of all Earth Dragoon lives matter so check your privilege. Second great video aa usual. Third would you ever do a tier list or even a damage comparison of double/triple techs in Chrono Cross? For example is combining two spells worth the stamina and vulnerability to the party or are you better off just whacking away individually. Just an idea.
Definitely considering it! But the next video series I’m going to be working on is Chrono Trigger. However, good chance I’ll circle back to cross.

@@atk9989 Same here except replace Rose with Hashel lol. Both times I beat this game, apparently I was unintentionally playing on "Hard" mode because a) the above mentioned team was what I liked using, b) I was Underleveled not just in character levels, but Dragoon and Additions as well. Yet somehow I managed to beat the game. I think the next time I do play again, Imma try to not go through that hell again 🤣

I agree with most the picks Kongol has horrible base Magic atk so his aren't worth it. But did you have to make fun of Kongol in the Video? Like I know his magic atk is the lowest but come on.
Also Rose's demon's gate is a situational spell it's not designed for damage.
Also again I see Your biased towards Meru With all Her spells in S or A. While I would agree Meru's spells are strong the issue may be actually using them because Meru is a Glass Canon. Or if you're fighting an enemy with high magic def.
The thing that makes Meru's Rainbow breath less powerful is most Stats effects are cured by transforming. And you become immune to most stats effects while in Dragoon form.
That's what I have learned through my time of playing Legend of dragoon. now everyone plays differently so at end of the day all the spells have a use depending on your Play style

Blame Canada! They're not even a real country anyway... anyways, Rose's death dimension probably should have been done like Zantetsuken, where it does 75% damage if the enemy is immune to instant death. Star Children probably should have been 75% too, cause Shana is a primary caster.

@@tantacles I don’t need to watch it . I’ve beaten the game and played with every character and know how to do every addition for every character. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but you can clean that up with armor. Etc. rose is trash. Dragoon moves trash. She is the weakest woman on the team
