FUN FACT: The actor playing as Chris in the movie (Brendon Ryan Barrett) would laterly voice the titular character in Casper's Haunted Christmas. Brendon also played his role as Young Ryan Walker in Boys and Girls (2000). ANOTHER FUN FACT: I think there are some famous actors i found in the movie, like Steven Gutterberg (Short Circuit, Police Academy) and Rodney Dangerfield (Caddyshack, Back to School, Easy Money)
YES I REMEMBER THIS!! Loved this movie growing up but now watching the first live action film, the animation in this one is quite questionable lol. I always thought this was the first movie. Actually released 2 years after, wonder why they went downhill. Still love these movies.
I kinda feel like I need to defend Chris a little here. Yes, the father/son conflict doesn’t put him in a good light (like you pointed out) but he overall seems nice, confident, and surprisingly witty. But that’s also him being a complete outcast makes no sense. He gets bullied constantly despite him not taking any of their sh*t, so what are they getting out of it?
The love interest is the same actress who played Jo the red striker beetleborgs, well the original version of her. It's complicated, basically in one episode of Beetleborgs Jo has a spell put on her that changed her appearance (and after that was played by another child actress). Also yes THOSE are Beetleborgs figures which makes me really wish Casper met Flabber and the House Monsters.
2:03 Did Saban help make this because like all these Toys seem to be from the Big Bad Beetle Borgs series Saban Made from 1996 to 1998. Though that show crossing over with Casper would of been a better film thats for sure.
To me, this movie isn't canon. Apart from the character designs, nothing about this movie connects to the original movie. For one, 95' Casper was born and raised in Whipstaff Manor of Friendship Maine. Here, he's adopted by the trio as fake uncles and stay at the Applegate Mansion of DeedsTown. Also, this movie established that Casper had just recently died in the 90s at the age of 10, not knowing he was a ghost. But in the first film, when he died of pneumonia at the age of 12, he refused to crossover because he wanted to look after his lonley father untill he drove him insane enough to make a machine to resurrect him. (The Lazarus.) And the 1996 spin-off show established that Casper is 112 years old in ghost years, (turns 113 in April.) Meaning, Casper died 100 years prior of 1895, not 1997. Therefore, this film is no way canon to the original 1995 movie.
This was a movie that I watched on VHS A LOT as a child. Gotta say, from the looks of it, the acting and the dialogue in particular have not aged well.
This prequel was not made by universal at all. It was produced by the harvey film company in association with Saban entertainment (most infamously for Power Rangers (and also TMNT the next mutation) and a handful of English dubbed anime) and distributed by 20th century fox If i was you, dont let saban (or any company) do your show, otherwise it will end up being a total mess.
Hey Jambareepi maybe for Christmas this year you could review the 2004 movie In search of Santa which is a CGI movie starring sisters Hilary & Haylie Duff as 2 Princess penguin sisters who end up going on an adventure as the older sister Crystal decides to find Santa because the other penguins don't believe he exists namely because anything relating to humans is illegal in the Antarctic Kingdom and the younger sister Lucinda ends up reluctantly accompanying her answer eventually get to the North Pole with help from a gang of cutthroat pirates all the while the three chief advisors of the royal family are planning to betray the royal family so they can take over the kingdom
@@justaguywhowatchesyoutube5588 yes Hilary Duff along with her sister Haylie Duff and they are the only Americans in the film as the rest of the cast of consist of very talented Canadian actors such as Garry Chalk Scott McNeil Kathleen Barr which all three of them play the three chief advisors to the royal family who plan on betraying the royal family so they can take over with Chalk and McNeil also lending their voices to the Pirates Richard Newman did the narration and Santa was voiced by the late French Tickner
Yep, those made for TV Casper movies sucks... And I like them (but only because those are childhood movies). Say, seeing somes scenes again, why do I know half the actors in this?
When this movie was made? The ghosts looks horrible and ugly compare to the first live-action Casper film. He was bright, small and cute. Here, i doubt kids won't find him scary! Also, why his uncles are blue instead of white? Are they sick or got paint on them? It's a bit weird 😂
It came out 2 years after the first film. But that film was made with the animators behind Jurassic Park, The Mask, Jumanji, and the frickin Star Wars films. It was clear, this film was too cheap to get them. Especially when it was direct to video. The uncles were always blue in the first film but less saturated blue. But I feel they were capitalizing on the success of Aladdin's Genie that they made the trio ripoffs to Robin Williams's Genie. Wise-cracking supernatural spirits with no legs and are blue, voiced by comedians that make pop culture references and puns and shape shifting into celebrities. It's literally Aladdin!

lets point out that kibosh i not the true villain of thi movie because he had no villianous intentions y you can say brock danny and leon were the villains considering they left chris for dead in a closet of the applegate mansion

The best thing about this movie is the VHS copy had a trailer for the PS1 Croc game. One of the more solid early 3D games I've played.

Yeah... Spirited Beginning wasn't really that good...
I hear that Casper Meets Wendy was better... which wasn't saying much.
The hell they get James Earl Jones in this!?

You’re right, but that’s also the problem with this movie.
It’s falsely marketed/presented as a prequel yet just ignores the 1995 film entirely
This is the first & only time I’ve ever seen Ben Stein attempt to emote in any movie I’ve ever seen in my whole entire life.
This was a movie that I watched on VHS A LOT as a child. Gotta say, from the looks of it, the acting and the dialogue in particular have not aged well.
