There’s a bit in this movie that I’m always mad they cut, where Casper finally stands up to his uncles. It’s a really cathartic bit of resolution for the trio’s awful behavior throughout film.
Wow, snubbed? Can't believe it!
I'm upset they cut the Ghost uncles song
That ghostbusters cameo was so funny I thought. Dan Akroyd is a legend!
I'm sorry to hear your father passed away. you have my sympathy.
I'm sorry that you lost your father this year, you have my condolences
I think you’ve overlooked Casper’s character, I wouldn’t say his character is perfect but do keep in mind Casper is only a child ghost and Kat is a child that he crushes on, I don’t think there was any intention to make him a “creepy stalker” he was just overly excited about meeting a girl that isn’t actually scared of him because he’s a ghost. Again it’s not perfect but I wouldn’t say unlikable.
She was terrified of him at first. Then she realized he's a benevolent ghost boy and then she wasn't freaked out. You forgot that part
The dance was iconic, that, you gotta admit! Also This means, casper and wendy is a better adaptation? Condolences for you dude.
He's jealous he couldn't woo a girl at 13 like that.
It was never my favorite movie as a kid, but I love it because they filmed the exteriors in Maine (not too near where I lived, but it was still exciting to hear about as a kid) and it was the first movie I saw at a drive-in (double feature with Apollo 13)
I love Christina Ricci. She’s an awesome actors I think. She was great as Wednesday in the older Addams family live-action movie.
And she would later go on to do the voice of Terra in the animated film Teen Titans Judas contract
@@williampulfer-melville8536 true!
I love this movie when I was a kid and I still love it. It's one of my favorite childhood movies and I watch it every October.
Casper's whimsical grief music aleays strikes a heavy cord in me. It makes me happily reminisce whikst feeling fear of death
Can't believe BBC's Ghosts stole the 'dead boy won't stop creeping on living girl even though she's quite obviously not available' plot 😂
Agree. This film is overwritten and underdeveloped.
I haven't watched this film in a long time but after seeing your review I want to give it a rewatch because I remember liking it as a kid.
Apparently Kat was loosely inspired by a character called Wendy The Good Hearted witch who is in the original comics and cartoons a friend sometimes love interest to Casper and originally Kat was originally going to be Wendy the good hearted witch but this was changed last second because they couldn't secure the rights to use her though this would change when they brought her into one of the prequels
Summer 1995 was great. Between this movie, Batman Forever, and The Power Rangers movie it was a fun summer to go to the theaters.
Not good, but not soulless, that sounds about right.
Great review
I’m surprised this movie hasn’t become a meme goldmine yet.
I do have to agree about the inconsistent tone. This movie has always been a guilty pleasure to me but I grew up watching it so maybe I’m more biased towards it overall.
Well to be fair Casper in the cartoons did not have much of a personality there not much to him outside him being a friendly ghost he would speed every cartoon looking for a friend only everyone he come across would scared of him and run until he found a friend so it understandable why the movie would attempted give a personality as you pointed out they did in a very questionable
Why is my father’s dragon in the next selection? It isn’t even out yet!
Then again, the votes last time also had Wendell and Wild in it and that didn't come out until this week.
Just saying.
Better than the 1997 prequel.
Jambareeqi, would you call yourself a fan of Casper The Friendly Ghost?
Well, not like casper is Mickey Mouse famous.
Nice video
I liked this movie fine as a kid but for some weird reason it wasn't my favorite. That was the (very bad) TV movie, A Spirited Beginning, and its sequel, Casper meets Wendy. Now, it's obviously the complete opposite (the TV movies were really cheap in hindsight), I love this film and watch it every October. I won't call it a guilty pleasure because to me it's not a bad movie at all. At worst it's passable.
EDIT: Maybe it's not that hard to understand, thinking about it, this film might have had themes a tad too complicated for 5 year old me to enjoy (like you said, grief and loss but also the whole inheritance thing with Carrigan which always confused me) while the 2 TV movies were very simple and basic.
I use to love this movie as a kid, but as an adult, I still like it, but there are some plot holes that go nowhere, but overall it's not a bad movie, I give it a 3.5/5.
Do a vid on bugs life
I still find Casper's crush on Kat weird seeing as he is the sole of a 11 year old boy and Kat is like 13/14 I personally would have preferred if Casper only wanted her to just be his friend and nothing more seeing as that was his main goal in the original cartoons and comic but the problem was everyone judge's him before they even know him
That is a very good point, William.
Are you a fan of the old comics and cartoons?
@@thomasspongeconductor2222 indeed I am as well as a fan of the old Popeye and Mighty Mouse cartoons
@@williampulfer-melville8536
They actually made a Tv show based on this very movie. The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper, with actors Joe Alaskey, Joe Nipote and Brad Garrett returning as their respective roles as the Ghostly Trio, and child actor Malachi Pearson (he went though puberty so he sounds very different) as Casper. Not to mention it was distributed by Amblin Entertainment once again, and featured a lot of writers and directors from a few of Tom Ruegger’s show like Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures and Freakazoid.
@@thomasspongeconductor2222 oh yes and I know that kath Soucie took over from Christina Ricci as Kat in that show
@@williampulfer-melville8536
The great Dan Castellaneta also replaced Bill Pullman as Dr Harvey.
The way this film cast Eric Idle & made him an incompetent comic relief with nothing funny to offer is downright criminal.
Why he's better than in Ella enchanted!
@@erikbihari3625 I can't exactly comment since I haven't seen that film. I just know I didn't laugh once watching him in Casper.
@@AmethystOrlandoHumor is subjective anyway, maybe there are some who have.
Life's a piece of shit when you look at it.
See what I did there?
@@tylerfish2701
Eric Idle is a comedic genius.
Casper: Can I keep you?
Me: 😬😤 WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, CASPER!? YOU PASSED ON, YOUR NO MORE, YOU'VE CEASED TO BE, YOUR A STIFF, RIPPED OF LIFE, YOU REST IN PEACE, YOUR PUSHING UP DAISIES, YOUR OFF THE TWIG, YOU KICKED THE BUCKET AND JOINED THE FREAKING CHOIR INVISIBLE! YOU ARE AN EX PERSON!
Spy kids sounds like a good one yeah let's do that
Kids next door is better!
@@erikbihari3625 I mean for next review
@@ryanwilkins2233Know it, but that's not what I meant.
What's wrong? Did u cry?
This franchise needs a modern day movie reboot overall. Who else agrees?
@_@
I like the moments with Casper and Kat.

It's a good thing you don't understand anything about being a girl in the 90s.
Cause I guarantee none of us believe you. 👻
