The 2.0 TDCI’s are one of the best engines ever!!! A friend of mine has a 2012 galaxy with over 500,000 miles with no issues at all along with my mums kuga that has over 185,000 (witch is driven with a very heavy foot)
Not to mention other people I know that have had 2.0 mondeos for years without a single issue at all.
The 1.5s aren’t far behind either tbh
    So so good!

Might be worth a mention if the crank bolt is tight coming out apply a little bit of heat as they put lock tight on them bolts saves stripping the threads on the crank or snapping the bolt

    ‘Pokery-joogering’. Another classic Bazism.
Seriously though, cracking video and Ben is a natural in front of the camera.

Put 235k miles on one of these in an Smax. Great engine but one thing that does happen them is the copper washer at bottom of injectors give out & you get a fumes smell in the cabin. If done immediately they mightnt be too bad but my one had done a bit of driving after going & it was a real battle to get injector out. I was advised to check the other injector clamps & found they were bit on slack side so it's worth doing & save yourself a job. GREAT video again 👍

On top of all the replacement components, I always replace the camshaft & crankshaft oil seals too , whether leaking or not , to save another strip down later on 👍

crankshaft oil seal was definitely starting to leak.

@@sdgelectronics it usually is the crank seal to go first as it rotates twice the speed of the cam if not treble the speed so will wear quicker in my opinion 👍

I've bought tools from eBay/amazon and never had an issue.
A lot of the problems are people's (mis) use of them.

Another great video! Suggestion why don't you do a "Baz's top 5 loved & 5 Loathed cars" with a mention as to why you love or loath each of them from experience. I think that would get a lot of hits.

@@MadMurdock69 1.8 TDCi was only an issue from late 2008 onwards when Ford decided to change the lower chain to a wet belt (and not tell anyone) as well as all the injectors from Siemens suddenly being substandard (and failing prematurely), it's VERY hard to kill a 1.8 TDCi. The 1st generation (16v) 1.6 TDCi...well that's another story!

At around 12:40 when you start the engine there is an audible knock present. Any idea what's causing it? I'm trying to chase the same sound in mine. When compared to other Mondeos (even the one on this channel) it should sound much smoother and , well, without a knock.

I have Mondeo 2.0 diesel. Lately, when I press full throttle, there's intermittent loss of power. It accelerates but with small pauses. I ve checked injectors, replaced O2 sensor, I ve disabled dpf,I get no errors on diagnostic tools. Engine has 216k miles. When car is cold no issues, only when it gets up to temperature I m having this problem. Any ideas anyone? I m gonna replace crankshaft sensor next
