I love how they allowed him to process it and not be bossy about what to do. Its very overwhelming and lots of these videos they are screaming to leave them on and demand they look at things. Awesome guy with a great sense of humor
These videos always make me tear up! I often wonder how much of their emotion comes from the shock of seeing new colors or the sadness of realizing that they went all of those years not seeing the full spectrum before. What a nice man and I am so happy for him!
He starts off not very excited - names all the balloon colors as if it wasn't a big deal - then to my surprise, suddenly gets very emotional. I didn't expect that.
Its that the brain hasn't relayed the new information to the conscious part of the brain yet so he doesn't know what he is doing sort of speak. But when he did this the conscious part relays that information back to the not conscious part and is thus looped back and tells that part what he was able to do that he never had been able to before.
This is the first family in all the Enchroma videos I watched that doesn't annoy me. They're not unnecessarily loud or pushy, they let the man adjust and enjoy and they don't constantly ask him if the glasses work or if they can try them on. Wonderful.
+andreskizzo well it really just depends on what KIND of color blindness the person has. Like I just got done watching a video where the guy couldn't see red/green properly. It all just looked brown to him, till he tried the glasses. Then BAM! pink, red, purple. and all the various shades of green have meaning :P (but he never had a problem with blue, so it wasn't earth shattering to see the ocean or anything)
Colored blind people used to be the ones asking "what color is that...what color is this." After they get the glasses everyone else is asking the colored blind person "what color is that...what color is this." ..Total role reversal.
I cannot get over the emotional response people have from seeing colour.... I'm almost jealous because it seems they are just overwhelmed with joy, but I'm glad I can see colours. I have a slight duetan and am dying to look through a pair of these!
Now he can see the colors of the balloons perfectly. The numbers inside! From the colors he deserves a lot these glasses is nois sorry it gets in the way god bless you
pretty simple. Your eyes have 3 types of "cones" that register the colors red, blue and green. You tell different shades of color and different pigments the same way, such as purple, orange, etc. Colorblind people have problems with certain cones especially the ones that see reds and greens. This is why many can still see blue fine, and yellow sometimes. So because many have problems seeing the reds and greens correctly, the glass's are made to split the lightwaves so that the red and green light is separated and can be seen easier with the weakened colorblind cones. Similar to how a prism works. If you just look at light you can't really see red, blue, etc but if you filter the light through a prism now suddenly you can see the colors. It's still the same light but just split so you can see it. The glass's split up the red and green light before it enters their eyes so their weakened cones can now see it and register it normally.
‘These are welding glasses from grandmas house’ He later says, when he looks outside, ‘what an ugly day’ as a joke. His guess was good when he saw certain colours for the first time: the pink, purple, the blue and the red and orange. The yellow seem to get mixed up with green. Everything is a learning experience. After watching some of these videos many people now understand just how blessed and fortunate we are to have healthy eyes to see the beauty than is in nature and all around us...
This is very heartwarming and all, but man (some) Americans are so fucking rigid sometimes, give the man a hug when you see he is overwhelmed, and I'm not even considered to be warm or touchy enough in my country, pretty much the other way.
It’s interesting how with most of these enchroma videos there’s one woman (or sometimes two) in the background constantly dictating and directing and incessantly talking about what to do. Why can’t this just happen organically? It’s so selfish. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I've watched several of these videos now, they're quite fascinating and heart-warming (thanks for uploading this one!). One thing I may never understand is when someone with the glasses points at a new-to-them colour and then says "That's red/purple/...". How do they know which formerly unseen colour is which? Sure, they must have heard the names all their lives, but they haven't perceived them yet, or have they? (I do understand that colourblind people can see some colours normally, just not all.)
AsEasyAs_1,10,11 I asked him that question! He said it’s because he’s always been able to see some colors, and just kind of used deductive reasoning to know the others since he knows pink is similar to red, yellow is similar to green, etc. That’s why he thought the lime green one was yellow!
It's interesting that in almost all of these EnChroma vids, it's guys who are colorblind. I wonder if that reflects reality, & if so, why it affects men more than women. ~♥~
Colorblindness is carried on the X-chromosome. Females are XX and men are XY. If a female has one color-deficient X, the other X will do the job, but they will be "carriers". Then each son will have a 50/50 chance of being colorblind. Very seldom does a female get a bad X from both her mother AND father.
@@r.ridderbusch7303 Thank you ever so much. You make it very clear, simple, even. Not that we have to understand things, but it feels good when we do. ;-) ~♥~
@@r.ridderbusch7303 Glad to hear that. I've found, after many decades, that joy or simple enjoyment is the spice of life, what Life is about. It tunes us to the Divine. ;-) ~♥~
We asked him that! So with his color blindness, he can see some colors. He can see blues and yellows, but reds and greens are very murky and usually just show up as muted shades of the colors he can see. But he’s had it for so long that he knows what colors are supposed to be what. So for example, he knows red is supposed to be super bright, and doesn’t look like what he sees as blue and yellow, and he knows that pink is a lighter shade of red. So it’s kind of a process of elimination.
I love how they allowed him to process it and not be bossy about what to do. Its very overwhelming and lots of these videos they are screaming to leave them on and demand they look at things. Awesome guy with a great sense of humor
OMG I lost it when he started crying. Sweet man.

Can't imagine not being able to see color wonderful this product came in time for him.
The little old lady next to him is so cute she has christmas bows stuck to her sweater

It must be an overwhelming experience. So many just start crying. A new world for them.
"It's not the color it's the thought." Class. Truly.
This is inspiring. It's amazing that everyone seems to have the same reaction. Young or old. What a gift.

What a wonderful, loving family...and a newly colour aware Father ...enjoy 🤗💕
For some reason I want to hug the woman sitting beside him. She seems so sweet, and reminds me a lot of my great grandmother.
Brianna Gordy yeah...you can take her with you.
I think its interesting how they can name the colors, even though they have never seen them before.
Yea that's what's confusing me.
+Soxviper its cause they see in different shades of dull, so they associate those shades to a color, cause people tell them what color they see
+andreskizzo ohhhhhhh, that makes sense.
+andreskizzo well it really just depends on what KIND of color blindness the person has.

God bless this grandpa, he is so sweet and funny ☺️❤️
My favorite part of this video might be how polite the kids were and didn’t try to make the experience about them.
