Can you please make a video for "third graders" lol on how to use a bosch palm router? From what bit to buy and why , how to install it , which one to choose from and why , do you start it first and than put it on the wood or put it on the wood and than start the router , the best speed , if accessories from bosch are needed/why and where to buy. Sorry for the lengthy question lol and if you already have this video I have not yet found it :). Thank you in advance.
Thank you for point out your flaws. I can never stop myself for beating myself down when my work has flaws. This makes me feel a little better that someone like you, who creates so many beautiful items, can make mistakes as well. Thank you!
I’ve had a raised corner a time or two in table tops. I was told it was my clamping pressure and pocket holes pulling the same direction. Ever heard of this? Anyway since I changed up alternating pocket hole direction and clamp pressures, the tops lay flat. And yes, I always edge cut my boards
As a trained safety observer I HAVE to point out that cross armed cut (the very first cut you made). Just messin with ya! Great stuff great channel! keep it up!
I thank you Matt Outlaw for all you have done for our country. I thank you for what you keep doing for me on every video. I've made your Farmhouse style tables and am selling them well. You are still a Hero brother.
I build wine cabinets and cellars for very wealthy clients and do, not detailed, but very nice work and I’ll tell you right now I use pocket holes for a lot of different things
You make tables WAY better than me so thank you for showing me how. I use tree round sections cause of where I live and they are free. Legs are tree pieces. Elec. Co . trims trees from Wires we take the what they leave. People give them to me and I appreciate it, use them
Very nice work. You will be my Mr. Mentor for sure. Great hobby and side work to have. I believe I'll blow the " dust " & webs off my tools and get busy after this freeze here in Dallas. Thank you sir for your WISDOM
Thank you so much for the stove cover idea I sold 6 so far a little different than yours I bought handles and I got 10 more orders and a few custom orders and I pitched the idea of making them for my job because they sell homes and I’m waiting to hear back I got lots of work for my little side business now i really appreciate you and now my family can make it because I was struggling to pay rent but with gods help this is going to work out great thanks again
Man you are such an inspiration and I'm from South Africa so the only thing I struggle with is converting from imperial to metric but otherwise I love your videos and your projects
I have to tackle this project head on.....even living in an apartment isn't going to stop me. One thing I want to try an incorporate into the design is some "hidden drawers" or some type of "hidden compartment". I have been watching so videos of old 16th, 17th, and 18th century writing tables. One thing that they all had in common, besides the amazing hand carved designs, is thatthey all had hidden compartments or drawers. I'm just fascinated with the idea of pressing part of a table, and a hidden drawer pops out.
I love my harbor freight Pittsburgh clamps. They may not have fancy features but boy do they get the job done. I dont know of any clamps that even compete with them for value/price.
You have inspired me! I made stealth shelves for my children for Xmas and made my wife a coffee table with lift top. I’m going to try selling! I’m having a blast!
Remodeling my kitchen with new gray cabinets, white marblish countertop with gray veining, and white subway tile backsplash with gray grout. Thinking I’ll build one of these tables for living room next to dining room & kitchen, with wood painted to match cabinets and a tile top to match kitchen backsplash. Might also do a dining table to match, though I’m a bit uneasy about doing a tile top for a dining table.
I really liked how you drew a light pencil line down the back side of the top indicating how they (planks) were to be aligned and knew when you put them back together that they would be in the right place. Really smart!
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with everyone who follows your work. I myself am starting to feel more confident in my abilities to do what I love, wood working!! And you have so inspired me to take that step and started posting and selling my work.again thank you may you and your family receive the blessings of our gracious savior 🙏
Hi Matt. You are the best of the west , beast of the east , mouth of the south and worth of the north. Lol. I have learned a lot from you. Please explain how you determine the angle of the crosses. Perhaps you should dedicate a video elucidating the process. I appreciate the time you take to open a new world to people like me. Thanks.
As we are getting ready to move into a new place and we don't have a coffee table, I think i'll be looking very closely at this one to see about building it for the new place, can't wait to see it all come together.
I really like your videos. They are informative without going off on some other subject and you loose track of what you are doing. I have a couple clamps that you attach to a piece of plywood and the board gets attached to the clamps. Then you do the level type cut. Your level idea seems easier and quicker.
Looks simple until I watch the video, now I am a little nervous. I have bought the plans for this, but I don’t have a table saw a right now. I will see if I can find one at a good price soon. Thanks for the great video!
I am a beginner woodworker and really enjoy your videos. I successfully built the farmhouse end table with drawer last year. This year I was determined to build the coffee table. I found that the dimensions of the table made it extremely difficult to manage on my own, even with a proper clamp. I also found that the wood kept splitting when i screwed in pocket hole screws. I have reluctantly thrown in the towel in favor of a plane using thicker wood. This maybe shouldn’t be a beginner level project.
Just purchased the plans. Everything was great. One thing that is off is the bottom braces in the plans show 24 3/4” I didn’t realize until I put the table together. Maybe you could take a look and change that in the plans. Keep up the great work.
Purchased your plans a few days ago and already have one built. Awesome job on the plans. I also bought a few other plans from your website as well. Much respect for you.
Wonderful video Matt, I really appreciate how you explain things ( like setting up the hand router ), not many take the time to do that. I think your videos will challenge me to step up the projects I am working on. God bless you Matt.
Matt, love these videos! Especially the mistakes part we ALL do it! However you said it well... when you stain it it just looks natural. I use a pocket hole to hold my table tops down. Have a good one and God Bless!
Just finished frame and just cut my lower shelf, glued and pocketed. Gonna Preston and stain tomorrow then doing the top the same way. Awesome videos, you made me think I can build this and I can. Joined the shelves with your level technique. Most amazing part so far...it perfectly square
Man I’ve mad a few work benches and sold them. My everyday job doesn’t give me the same satisfaction I get when building something for someone. So I do want to make this a business. The awesome thing I feel I could take advantage of is the fact that there is a building boom Going on right now in my area, and those end tables look like a good start.
You are the best, love watching your channel, the authenticity you have is awesome. I really like how your whole process is very clear and you are using tools most wood workers can afford, and I totally appreciate your humor. Thank you !
Awesome build, as always! I have a tip that might make it easier to hold those cross pieces (braces) in place while attaching them: Clamp a 1x4 horizontally to the bottom of the apron on each side. That will create a flat shelf for the braces to rest on, ensuring that they are flush with the apron.
@@731Woodworks I've heard that saw has a lot of side to side movement. I heard the same with the bosch version too. I really want to buy a saw like this so i can put it directly up against the wall as i dont have much room. Did you notice it?
This project came out great! I made a similar style table for my fiancé over the weekend using 2x4s and dowels and a piece of glass that she already had, it came out awesome!
You are inspiring me to give it a try. I am just beginning woodworking and this seems doable for me. Great that you show the mistakes, it’s encouraging for us newbies.
awesome video, was watching your end table video and was wondering how to do the x brace. this solved it. thanks, learnt so much from your channel now just have to apply it to the jobs l am going to start up..
I really enjoy watching your videos and tutorials. I'm saving up to get me some basic tools and in the process of getting a small shed to transform it into my workshop. Keep up the great work.
Your videos just keep keeping getting better! Love the project but really like all the tips and information on construction. Very useful information for this beginner. 🤜🏻. God bless you!
Matt, you out did yourself! This looks amazing and so much better than the inspiration piece. I’m sure the customer was over the moon. Hubby and I are going to give this one a try. Fingers crossed! BTW, we have taken up wood working as a hobby we do together mostly due to you. Your way of teaching and encouragement has been a blessing for us. Thank you so much!
Matt what cool build. Thanks for sharing all tips and tricks. Bought lumber yesterday to build a three section farmhouse desk. It will be my first attempt but with what I’ve seen on here it should be a great success. 👊👊
I just built a end table similar to that for a client. The Xs on the end I used Titebond quick set and a couple of quick clamps for a minute or two and it worked great. Didn't need the brads.
Good afternoon, Matt. Thank you for the awesome videos. I made the same tables, but mine are concealment tables. I would like to show them to you if possible.

Keep posting videos they got me to try wood working and I absolutely love it. I just hate I picked it up as a hobby when lumber cost are so high.
