    I recently did this swap on my 06 Sequoia. I was able to get the front driveshaft in/out by knocking out the studs on the front flange of the t-case. It's a tight fit and it's temporary until I get it shortened, but it allows you to get the front shaft in/out without removing the transfer case every time.
    Another option is to find a Tacoma front shaft that will work. Depending on the engine/tranny/body style the Taco front shafts come in +/- 27", 28", 29" and they bolt right up.
    For the rear shaft an alternative to having it lengthened is a Trail Gear Tacoma driveline spacer. They come in .75", 1", 1.25", & 1.5" and cost abut 50 bucks.
    Now if I could just get the 4HI & CDL lights on the dash to stop going haywire....

      The case bolts up easily but then you have to cut a hole in the floor and modify the shifter significantly. Then there's the front add actuator which I haven't even figured out yet. I tried to make it cable operated but failed, running in 2wd at the moment.
      There's a recent vid on yt if you search Sequoia FJ swap.

    What a fun looking 4Runner! I have a 2nd gen (2006) V6, Manual, 4x Tacoma and due to the Horrid electronic actuators, I swapped in a (2008) FJ Cruiser T-case (I had to split both my case and the new one to swap the input shafts to the larger spline that comes out of the RA60F Tacoma manual transmission)
    I went ADD delete up front and just manually put the front diff actuator in to position, closed it up and cut some wires at the ECU. Everything on the dash works perfect.
    What I want to do next is Swap in a 2UZ-FE V-8 engine (possibly from a 4th Gen 4Runner) and I'd like to know what Transmission do you run, that comes with the V-8?
    It should work with my FJ case....
    Thanks!

    This was a great video!!! My 03 V8 has a cracked Tcase and finding a replacement has been near impossible. I’ve seen this done on forums and was just wondering if there is any long term effects to not having an ADD front diff for daily driving and highway long trips. Is the Tcase going to be under too much stress from essentially spinning the front DS?

    • @sherpamotorsports
      @sherpamotorsports 3 роки тому +2

      It builds up access pressure and it can push gear oil out of the shifter boot. Just have to make sure you keep an eye on the fluid level. Will happen more often in highway environments and daily driving. We have not seen any adverse affects in an off-road environment.
