- I am trying out this new lemongrass harvest way this year. I hope by harvesting my lemongrass this way will give them a good head start when next spring come.

Great video. I’m in Mississippi and will be harvesting mine in about two weeks. I am going to try and overwinter mine in the ground for the first time. Last year, I overwintered them in my barn in pots.
Last year I saved a small bush and brought it inside. That was too much care to do for me and the bush didn't really look as healthy due to not having enough sunlight. I don't think it's worth my effort to bring inside. So this year, I try this new way and if the winter is too cold, I'll start new ones from fresh stalks if they don't make it.
My question is - if you start with one stalk and it grows into many - when winterizing, do you have to thin them out?

Did they survive?
They did survive but only half of them. We had a pretty cold winter and the smaller bushes didn't have large enough stalks. The thick fat stalks survived and the small ones didn't. They're about 6"-10" tall now and look like grass. I stated some new ones and will see which one will grow stronger.

I’m in Nashville and I started mine from cuttings- put it in the garden and it grew to be a monster. My first time. I brought them inside now in pots. I’d love to cut them back and leave them outside also!
