It's good to see these guys still getting down. I had the honor of sharing the stage with them about 10 years ago. Truly the most amazing band I ever played with. I used to stand and watch Dan every night and try an learn something. Unfortunately during that time I was going through a severe depression and I never got a chance to connect with them like I could've. I hope I see them again one day so I can apologize. I shut everybody out when I should've been engaged and getting the most out of the experience. Really great guys and the best musicians.
He's probably left-handed, so he learned to play his set flipped around because it's easier for him. I'm left-handed, but I'm right-footed, so I just play drums the "standard" way.
Bloodbath and Beyond Well maybe it's hard in the beginning but when you're used to it, it can be an advantage! Because your left hand is strong and now you trained your right hand to be as strong as your left one, does that make sense? :)
Sam Drysdale Hey man i've been playing for ten years and never had the pedals or skills like that and now i finally do ! Hard work and dedication pays off pal ! Keep at'er !
+Anto Lo Scarso a COD It would be the same if he was right footed/handed. My right foot since im a right handed drummer hs about the same skill/strength as he does. I used to wear leg and arm weights every where to help with stuffl ike this.
+SpacePunch Gaming Me too I use to wear leg weights. Because my left foot was so much faster but now both feet & hands are close to equal. He basically does double bass with his left foot. So when he adds in the right it sounds sick. Either way solid drummer & great guitars
An RE20 on the snare is definitely interesting. No proximity affect on that mic makes the snare sound a little thin though (almost with an out of phase tone). And I love the idea of subtractive EQ and giving instruments their own sonic space but those toms have no depth and the cymbals have no body. I guess it's all personal taste but I would've liked to hear how this kit actually sounded. Triggered kicks I'm okay with because this style just needs that super accurate tracking. Sick skills though.
Bro, the RE20'S not an omni. It's a cardioid pattern, which inevitably has a proximity effect. It does have a hi pass filter though, maybe that's what you're hearing.
Christopher Beeman Hi there, I realize the RE20 is a cardioid pattern but the RE20's vents down the side are designed to reduce the proximity affect :)
Christopher Beeman Thus why it is popular with voice over work, talk shows, podcasrs, etc. because you can get up close and personal with the mic with less prominent proximity affect.
I agree and I know it's all preference and what they prefer but I've never liked After the Burials Mixes they lack a sense of depth and always sound thin to me.
Holy shit his feet were making my feet freak the fuck out just when you see another drummer with happy feet bam his feet are totally happy which made my feet happy great sounding set fuck yeah
A drummers footwork makes me think of the way certain dancing styles have certain foot work and patterns one uses to memorize a dance.. It's like his feet move a certain pattern for certain songs.
This is the song that got me from being a dude that plays native american wood wind and lap harp super into metal. You just cant not love the groove...
Another lefty drummer like myself. The good thing about being lefty is versatility. Easier to go around the set both ways. Sucky thing is having to customs order double bass pedals.
Dude he is in a studio, they record the vocals last usually, so they naturally have the tracks with no vocals. Plus for a playthrough video it's usually better not to have the vocals but unless you record it yourself, it's not happening
I watch this video few times in a row from time to time for already 6 years , because I still can’t get over how good he is ❤️🔥
One of THE best drummers ever. Love these guys. R.I.P. J
Justin Lowe is one I cry about every day.
@@troybeatriz7229his death was tragic and mysterious.
He once killed five men with his left foot alone.
Only once 😳🤔
😂🤣😂

He is an outstanding drummer. Everything is so tight and put together well 🤘
An amazingly composed and and executed drum part on an incredible song. Dan is the man.
now
THIS is a proper playthrough video.
no concert footage sound overlaid bs.
pure skill.
Watching 2:20 to the 3:00 minute mark makes my heart clench 😍😍😍😍
Sic ASF!
He makes this song look incredibly easy. Awesome!
I love playing Justin Lowe's rhythm part to this video. Been doing it for many years and it never gets old or boring. Such a great song.
Go Lefty! That's tight! That foot technique is very precise. He definitely has a feel for drumming. 10/10. You earned the whole jar of cookies.
The thing he does with his left foot. Damn *_*
Dan carle...the things you do with one foot are amazing
Love the sound of those drums. So damn clean!
I wish more music had this quality in production, so clean
Poor guy has no idea he set up his drums the wrong way.
He's a left handed drummer
^guy didn't catch the joke
Mike Kaufman it wasn't joke most likely, there are some people that are actually this stupid on the internet
I don't disagree with you on that, but I'm giving this guy the benifit of the doubt in that it was totally sarcastic.
Hahahahaha nice one xD
That left footwork is blowing my mind. I can't stop watching. O.O
One of the best lefty’s in progressive metal
I'm pretty sure this dude could play this entire song with his left foot if he needed to.
+Bloodbath and Beyond Yeah :D Why does he play everything with his left foot??
He's probably left-handed, so he learned to play his set flipped around because it's easier for him. I'm left-handed, but I'm right-footed, so I just play drums the "standard" way.
Bloodbath and Beyond Well maybe it's hard in the beginning but when you're used to it, it can be an advantage! Because your left hand is strong and now you trained your right hand to be as strong as your left one, does that make sense? :)
I get ya. It was even more of an advantage on guitar, because my stronger hand was doing more of the work (on the frets)
You play guitar too? Do you have any videos? :) How good are you on drums and guitar?
Dat left foot work o_O
Agreed, that shits crazy, coming from a rightie even xD
are these comments all jokes cus he's a lefty? or am I really this fkn retarded
uncrafted both
this makes me feel so shit about my drumming skills mann
keep practicing thats all i gotta say bro
i have'nt even got the money for pedals like that, thanks though ill try
Sam Drysdale Hey man i've been playing for ten years and never had the pedals or skills like that and now i finally do ! Hard work and dedication pays off pal ! Keep at'er !
Sam Drysdale Y don't need the nest pedals. Just practice, practice, practice!
Cameron Ratliff Agreed !!
that footwork is absolutely sick as hell !!!
HIS LEFT FOOT >>>
+Anto Lo Scarso a COD It would be the same if he was right footed/handed. My right foot since im a right handed drummer hs about the same skill/strength as he does. I used to wear leg and arm weights every where to help with stuffl ike this.
+SpacePunch Gaming Me too I use to wear leg weights. Because my left foot was so much faster but now both feet & hands are close to equal. He basically does double bass with his left foot. So when he adds in the right it sounds sick. Either way solid drummer & great guitars
+SpacePunch Gaming neat :^)
That double bass work is blowing my fucking mind

I agree, I'd almost say the drums sound totally unedited but there's some obvious reverb added...weird mix man

MIDI-like perfection man
Watching left handed drummers is so strange to me. It's like looking at a strange endangered species haha. But awesome fucking drumming!
paintballer10 you're not alone I feel you bro lol
yep it melts my brain watching talented left drummers its like wtf ? it seriously plays with your coordination
The best drummers I've ever jammed with are left handed, not strange at all
This snare sounds a hell of a lot better than the album snare.
The 1 dislike was Helen Keller
Beautiful, well executed
Looks and sounds like really true playthrough!
Clean and effortless.
Chuck Norris was once the baddest man on the planet....until he saw the Left Foot Assassin
Instantly subscribed because of this video
Holy shit his feet were making my feet freak the fuck out just when you see another drummer with happy feet bam his feet are totally happy which made my feet happy great sounding set fuck yeah
that part at 2:40 is faster than a fully auto, hands down
He could just upload a feet play through and I would be pleased.
love the melody
I got to check off on one of their shows. Dan is flawless. He's a fucking machine.
Dave has a cool style. Fun to watch live. They killed it in Greensboro the other week.
Who's Dave?
Such an enjoyable sound from your equipment choice
You are the greatest!
that's the first lefty-drummer I've EVER seen in my whole entire life
So good, always good
Se Le Hace Pan Comido Para El Tocar La Bateria Genial Like Saludos Desde San Luis Potosi Mexico

first time ever hearing this guy, he's pretty fucking flawless!
Dan the man.
00:18 FUCK YEAH!!!
Yess we need more Southpaw drummers out there!. Cool as hell and even cooler song!
God I love the double bass drums
Outstanding level of play, holy fuck!
makes me want to have a beach party with a pirate
jamminkeys That's one badass beach party...
Jimmy Silvers He's referring to the "After The Burial Beach Party" video that's here on UA-cam. Look it up, it's hilarious.
A drummers footwork makes me think of the way certain dancing styles have certain foot work and patterns one uses to memorize a dance.. It's like his feet move a certain pattern for certain songs.
The best!!!
the left handed set up fucks up my head so bad
This is the song that got me from being a dude that plays native american wood wind and lap harp super into metal. You just cant not love the groove...
beautiful drumset :$ prodigy!
Pure beast!!
This is great, but let's see something off Rareform.
Bezerker :D
As a man who played drums longer than this kid is alive my brain doesn't compute what he's able to do with a single foot.
Eagles Fan Since Super Bowl 52 yeah his footwork is unreal. Definitely an interesting drummer to listen to
Took me till 4 minutes in to realize he's a left handed drummer... That's SO much cooler now!
1:13 this groove
It's strange watching left handed drummers play. But it's also amazing
Neo soul playthrough please !!!
I guess the real thing that spooks out is the Meinl Classics Extreme Chinas and the way the crashes are set .
Does anyone know which bass drum beaters he's using here? Are them VicKick?
I thought he was cheating when I didn't see him playing the bass at first until it showed him playing with his left haha
Thank you Dan, for fucks sake and all. Harambe would be fucking proud dude. 👍
I wish I had you as a drummer...
What kind of snare is that I want one
Nothing more metal and evil than playing left handed drums - no salt over the shoulder even, just let them demons watch in awe
Good band. RIP Justin Lowe
He's a left footed ninja.I miss you Justin Lowe.🤕
Another lefty drummer like myself. The good thing about being lefty is versatility. Easier to go around the set both ways. Sucky thing is having to customs order double bass pedals.
His footwork makes no sense; I love it. I wish I could be all twitchy like this and make it sound consistent. (Insert self consciousness here).
any way of mirroring this ?
Man... Metalcore drummer's legs must be fucking rocks. xD
Djent/Progressive
left food->you can better stay in time. Let the Force will be with you
can you give me some video schools or something to learn how to play one-foot-double-bass technique?
Strabby Crabby heal and toe technique for one foot
Ate those pearl demon drives?
guitar playthrough?
Anyone know what kick pedals he's using?
Ryan Y pearl demon drive
left hand amaze
holy fucking shit.
2:20 bassgasm
how do people get these instrumental tracks?
Dude he is in a studio, they record the vocals last usually, so they naturally have the tracks with no vocals. Plus for a playthrough video it's usually better not to have the vocals but unless you record it yourself, it's not happening
omfg that fucking tone tho
Damn dude.
Hey another lefty...dig it.
Groovy af
I cant figure out that pre-chorus beat for the life of me
That snare
OMG...FOOT technique JUST TOO AWESOME :) IS HE ROBOT? :) #UNBELIAVABLE
Love this drum config, but the whole damn rig would have to be opposite for me to play haha
What type of drum kick technique is that?
One that seems to work hahaha
swivel
Seems like a heel toe variant.
Never liked watching left hand drummers until I seen this
Yay another Lefty!!!
