CANADA'S OLDEST NATIONAL PARK - What's Banff like NOW?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лип 2024
- Banff National Park is Canada's first and oldest National Park. The world has changed, and I wanted to see what the current situation of Banff, Jasper and Yoho National Parks are, to see if I'd still recommend them or not.
We stayed with HI Canada at their HI Jasper and HI Lake Louise Alpine Centre locations.

It's heartbreaking to see glaciers disappear. I walked on a vast glacier at mt. Rainer in Washington State, USA as a child of 5. Now 64 years later it is completely gone. Those clear lakes and breathtaking mountains of Banff are true treasures! How wise of the Canadian government to see that many years ago and preserve these as pristine parks.
Shame they couldn’t do that with the kids in their care.
Saw and rode Columbia Icefields in 1969. Right along the highway. Travelled there about 7 years ago, and it was miles away from the melting. Kind of sad.
that's what happens when their was climate change however it doesn't mean that they will all go away sense will stop climate change at some point don't worry man one day will go back to it was while obviously not in our life times Im sure once people get their stuff together I'm sure it will look amazing as it once was in your time man
I live in Tennessee, and for my parents 40th wedding anniversary, we sent them on a rail/coach tour of BC, and Alberta. The photos they brought back were unbelievably beautiful.
Hopefully not very recently.
@@jackdaniels2905 Yeah man, Vancouver too has gone to shit.
How did you gets across the border?
I’m Canadian. I live across the border.
It was 20+ years ago when we sent them on that trip.
As a Canadian in Saskatchewan, I can confirm that Alberta, Banff is the most beautiful. Lake Louise is highly recommended in my opinion
I'm blessed to live in Calgary, It's an hour away from the Rockies, I get to visit the Rockies on a regular basis, My favorite place is Moraine Lake. I never get tired looking at this majestic, pristine place.
Same! I absolutely am grateful 🙏 ❤
Can't wait till the civil war starts... hope we can round up all of you social justice warrior types.
Same here
'you're only here once' hahaha :) Love living in Calgary, so close to all of this. Love Banff, Alberta, and Canada.
Same, and everyone knows crackmacs 😂
I agree it’s really nice living near the Mountains
I live in Calgary, we are lucky to live near the mountains
@TheRickibobby nope.
@TheRickibobby lol
You did a great job showing us around, thanks for sharing! Can't wait to visit Banff, been on my list for a while
I am from Banff and let me tell u it’s AMAZING!!! From Skiing and Snowboarding to Hiking and swimming it’s all AMAZING!!!!!!!
My daughter and I visited Canada several times but our visit to Banff and Jasper was by far our favorite trip. The combination of the mountains and the wildlife we saw was just awesome. Love the people too!!
We completely agree. We actually made three videos of Banff and Canmore Alberta ourselves!
My family is German/Canadian, and I'm American. Grandparent's are German, moved to Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and had my mom and two aunts. They moved to Ohio in the 80's. They have green cards. Growing up, I traveled all over Canada. I absolutely love every inch. I JUST found your channel. I can already see this is an amazing channel. Look forward to watching you and your adventures. Much love from Ohio, 🇺🇸 ❤.
Thank you, and welcome Danielle!
It is quite interesting that probably your best traveling content (quality of editing work, camera work, overall feel from the video) is from traveling your own country. Traveling with friends and family in your own homeland adds something "real" to the videos. Keep up the good content Mike. Thanks for the videos.
Wow, thank you!
I co-sign on this statement 100%
Right on Johnny! Welcome!
Yeah, I’d love to!
the sheer joy i can feel through the video
I've been there like 10 times and everytime I still get amazed by the beauty, I'm so greatful to live in Calgary, Alberta
You live in Calgary and you’ve only been there ten times?!
I always thought Banff was in BC, Whenever you hear about Alberta it’s usually about oil or the Calgary stampede
It's so refreshing to see a family that loves spending time together, not to mention seeing some incredible country panoramas...one of your most enjoyable videos yet, Mike. I can't wait for next week!
Thanks Kim!
Mike, you're a life saver. I found you on UA-cam just before my surgery yesterday. I'm binge watching your channel. Now seeing Canada is on my bucket list. Thank you
Good luck with your recovery, Lyn!
Did you make to Canada?
SUPER CANADA !!
Natural beauty protected
National parks. Truly maple
Canada is paradise
On Earth ! 오! 캐나다🚩
Are those Korean characters? Anyway greetings from Canada! I hope you have the chance to visit here one day if you wish.
Visited there twice from the states. I’ve been to many National parks but Banff truly has beauty around every corner. Thanks for the great video!
Thank you so much, Mike, for sharing this. I am from Australia, and love Canada. I have been to Canada 8 times, visiting Banff National Park on 3 of those occasions. I have seen it in February, May and August, and loved it even more every time I visit. While I am unable to travel because of Covid at present, your video has brought back many wonderful memories, and taken me off the beaten track to places I have yet to experience, Thanks again for your amazing videos.
Banff and Lake Louise is my old stomping grounds. Lovely to see it all again.
I'm from Puerto Rico but I really, really want to live in Canada. It's beautiful and awesome!!!
It really is!
America is nice too
@@peterwu4528 But not now..🤪
@@peterwu4528 yes it does have its nice scenery
And Cold!
I loved seeing these beautiful places in our National parks. You’ve found some hidden gems - thanks for that, Mike. Another terrific video.
My pleasure!
Lovely video..thank you very much. I used to live in Vancouver 20 years ago and have traveled all over BC and Alberta. The nature is absolutely amazing over there with so many fresh water lakes, rivers, and high mountains. Your video has made me feel so nostalgic. I moved to Montreal many years ago and have traveled parts of the Atlantic east coast from the Gaspé peninsula to the New Brunswick and the Prince Edward Island. Canada is beautiful and diverse wherever you go!!
In a place of warmth and comfort...it's brighten your day...💖
Thanks for taking me back to places I have visited in Canada including Banff and Jasper. Being 78 with type 2 diabetes, I am thrilled to check out your adventures every week as a break from my self isolating for six months now. Although I do get out some now, I still avoid all group activities and sadly, travel. Whenever we conquer Covid-19, I invite you to visit us in Nashville and all Tennessee.
I’ve been asked how we are in our daily life by American friends online who haven’t been here. They always say how easy going I am, how friendly and seemingly happy with everything that’s going on in the world. Keeping in mind their terrible situation right now. So, I’ve been using my videos of hiking Pacific Rim Trail and your videos to help them. Your videos have many of my American friends really loving your life view and energy. They like me too, but you’re videos are way better and more professional. So I want to say thank you for being here and keep our way of life alive and well❤️
Amazing scenery! Definitely on my bucket list of places to see some day! Thanks for the tour! :) Your family reminds me a lot of mine - great dynamic!
Love your vlogs! Banff is in our backyard where we have lived for over 40 years! We have seen much of what you saw but there are still places we haven’t visited! Thank you for reminding us again how fortunate we are to live where we do!
THIS WAS INCREDIBLE!! High-five to the "making snacks on your car" club! I went to Banff and Jasper last month too, and we were making guac on the hood of the car! Love the storytelling way you captured all these beautiful scenic views, absolutely AMAZING!!
You brought back memories I was there in 1975 thank you
Its been years since I was in Banff and Jasper. I am 50 now and probably there when I was 10 or 12. Those parks were so majestic. We went to the Columbia Ice fields. At that time they let us drink from the streams that were running out of certain places. Probably not today. I hope I can go back one day. Love the mountains!! Thank you for sharing!!
What amazing parks - one day we'll be able to travel wider again, and I look forward to the chance to see places like them!
In the meantime, thanks to you (and Jess) for showing us them on screen, and living your best lives out there to inspire us.
I've said it before, and i'll say it again...Canada is definitely in the top 195 most beautiful counties in the world!
😂
When the world is no longer dying, I'm going to road trip from Chicago to Ketchikan and stop at all of these beautiful places. Thanks, Mike.
Another great video! Great positive content that is so wonderful these days! You guys have a ton of fun, great to see!
I lived in Banff for five years. Only when we had snow and it stayed for 5 days in July did I decide it was time to move! Absolutely beautiful!!
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME , AND I LOVE CANADA.
Great video! Living in Edmonton, I am blessed to be able to visit the mountains on a regular basis! We usually take our rv and love the small campgrounds between Jasper and Banff! Wilcox Campground has amazing views of the Columbia Icefields right from your cmapsite! The hostel in Lake Louise is a favorite of ours- the restaurant is amazing!!!
That is awesome!
I have been binge watching your videos of Canada sir and they are not only picturesque but positive. The country is beautiful and the people are warm (even when they are frozen, eyes to thighs, lips to hips, nose to toes, tum to bum etc)
Thank you. Blessings and peace sir
Thank you, George. I'm happy to be able to bring you along.
Just returned back home from Banff/Jasper/Yoho/Kootenay voyage. Impressed. No words.
I clicked so fast when I saw you had your shirt off!!!! Yassssssssssss fren! 😂😂😂
I know right? and I had stopped watching. plus the area is so beautiful
amesavis the views are breathtaking 🔥🤯
These videos of Canada are making me green with envy! I visited Banff and Jasper back in 2003 or 2004 and I would go back in a heartbeat-it was soooo beautiful.
Banff has been on my bucket list for a long while. Thanks for another great video!
Mike-Nothing is better than Banff Canada ( other than Vancouver BC) thanks for sharing! The town of Banff is incredible regardless of all the tourist ! Thanks for this UA-cam I miss Canada / I am a Pennsylvanian USA
Totally agree!
Form my home Jordan 🇯🇴 to you
Y great man 👌 and I really join with this video many like to you bro.
11:50 - There is a convenience store at Castle Junction (Halfway between Lake Louise and Banff) and Lake Louise village has one. small technicality, but i digress.
I lived in Banff for a year back in the early 80s. Great to see it again! Yoho, Jasper and Kananaskis were my favorite parks... and the Black Forest Cake at the Banff Springs Hotel. Yum!
Wow Canada is gorgeous! Your videos definitely made me add Canada to my travel list 😍😍
That's so beautiful bro. I wish I could come see a lot of that. However we are under strict rules traveling between Alaska and the lower 48 states. Maybe next year
I need to explore Jasper and Banff more I only live about 5 or 6 hours from Jasper.
I love the footage of you both swimming in the lake. Your clarity of your camera is incredible.
It’s great to see your family with you on your adventures. Stay Safe and God Bless You and your family.
Banff is the most pristine national park I've ever been to. It makes me proud to be CA!!!
Love seeing this Mike. I’m an American so we aren’t allowed to visit. So beautiful. You have a really nice speaking voice. Thanks for this wonderful expedition.
Mike is it true that Gord, Was you and Jess' brother. If so, belated thoughts are. with you. If you're into music, check out the band, Surfaces, from outside of Austin, TX. They have 3 albums and all the songs are positive and uplifting, kinda reminds of your personality.
He’s a great artist, but there is no relation to Jess and I.

These parks look amaazing omg. Post covid craziness I am definitely coming up for this
Canada has some BEAUTIFUL national parks and nature preserves.
Hands down the best show on UA-cam!!! 🤩🙏💖👏🌈🏔️
What’s the difference between a black bear and a grizzly?
Black bear poop has seeds and berries in it. Grizzly poop has shoe laces and bear bells in it.
wow...there are amazing sight seeing's & beautiful scenery in video
Love this video. You make the best and find all the greatest places to go
I'm glad I got to visit Banff last December when people from the USA could still travel to Canada. The people of Canada are a whole lot nicer than the residents of the USA, in my opinion.
Especially Democrat states like California and Oregon!
Well considering canadians have no rights or freedoms .... we are forced to be polite.
@@mitch511 no you really aren’t forced, that’s 0 logic lmao. Also Canadians do have rights and freedoms, if you hate it there, move
@@proskilztimez2785 instead of move we are trying to make alberta independent!
@@Leviathan02464 Oh Albertans of course. 1. Not even half of a Albertans would ever agree to a separation so it’s never going to happen as not even a quarter as of now would agree. 2.You’d need government approval and that will never happen, after the Quebec referendums the federal government passed certain laws that inhibits future ideas similar to Quebec’s making them extremely difficult to have and you’d need a very large majority of the country to agree. 3. The indigenous peoples within Alberta would never agree as they know Alberta itself is conservative meaning it isn’t as active with the preservation, cooperation, and environmental goals of the Indigenous as per say a liberal government, so alone the indigenous peoples would not allow it, meaning the federal government would never allow it. 4. You have to be dumb to actually think that this would be in any way beneficial, you would lose all Canadian ownerships, bye Free healthcare, something a conservative government most likely won’t give you, goodbye Canadian passport, one of the best passports in the world, goodbye global trade and allies, since Alberta is inland its trading partner will be primarily US and Canada, Canada isn’t going to be fond of Alberta if you leave meaning you will most likely not trade a lot with them. Canada is ranked in the top 5 best countries in the world, depending where you look it can be #2, so it boggles my mind why you would wanna leave. If you don’t agree with the leftist country, why tf are you still here.
Sadly I can't travel to Canada right now, and I'm not happy about it. I love Canada.
heck, even Canadian can't or suppose to travel in Canada.. don't worry, it will be open again
In Canada provinces literally close their boarders to other provinces.
@@vicgamesvt9682 well, it will pass..
Another awesome tour of the Banff area (visited it many moons ago), and, of course, the famous bathroom (outhouse)!! Yay!
This guy so nice and humble and kind when he showed his family and said join the family bro I literally subscribed. very nice of telling people who are newly visiting how to enjoy the park.
I appreciate that. Thanks for the sub!
Being this handsome and charismatic should be illegal 😂
😂😂
Isn't he 🔥🔥🔥
Should be illegal to come into my country and say the natural beauty is "not worth it anymore".... kindly go back to wherever your stupid a** came from.
I don’t know why I click on this I live in Banff and I have been to all these places
Lol I do the same for Montana stuff and I live here.
Because even if it is your own back yard, the excitement of somebody visiting from somewhere else can be infectious.
Beautiful trip and video! Thank you for sharing your itinerary and tips with us. I'm particularly looking forward to Horseshoe Lake and Annette Lake.
You guys have done a great job to show us the literally breath-taking views and demonstrate interesting outdoor activities there. Really looking forward to visiting Banff in person.
Thank you very much!
13:18 And I'm so jealous of you cuz I don't know how to swim! All the more reason to learn how to swim. lol
me too😪
Make sure you hire a swim instructor and don’t try to teach yourself - that’s how you drown. Most pools have adult swimming lessons
Saw a bear coming out of the water when I went to banff
Gnarly stuff

Mike and Jess, thanks again for another fantastic video.
Your videography is stunning!!! I've been up in that area heli-hiking many years ago. Really enjoy your videos.
Awesome! Thank you!
Mike, most of this video you made is close to my heart. I had just purchased my first car in 1979, and I took a cross-country trek in May 1980 from here in Cornwall ( Eastern Ontario ), to Edmonton, where my sister lived; on to the Rockies; down to Victoria, and back. Definitely, the Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Banff, with all the stops inbetween was so memorable, and your video brought most everything front and centre again! Of particular note was your swim in Lake Louise. My intentions in 1980 were much like yours except I was going to rent a canoe and paddle towards the Victoria glacier which you've shown in the distance, but I had 1 surprise as I crested the path that led from the parking lot to the hotel: there was still ice on the lake in late May! So I was delighted to see you dive into what I'm going to say was probably water with a temp. of 11 - 14 deg. ( based on the date you posted this video ) ! I do hope you went on Hwy. 1A, just west of Banff, at the Kicking Horse pass, where the North American Continental Divide is situated, along with Divide Creek, which has an East branch that eventually runs into the Atlantic ocean through Hudson's bay, and a west branch that ends up in the Pacific ocean. Sorry I've been long-winded but I'm sure as you acquire more moments under your belt with your excellent presentations, you too will be able to call up memories like I've done with your help. You're almost 34 now and almost in the blink of an eye you'll be 50. So live, live, live. You, and the people you keep close to your heart deserve you. I'm a happy bystander though!
Wow, what fantastic memories. I hope to look my back on my experiences fondly and to continue creating new ones 😊
Thanks for sharing your stories.
I loved this video!!! You have done some great videos, but this was one of the best!! Our beautiful country, family and cold water swimming...Oh Canada!!!!!!!!
